Gentlemen,
Please I updated my note 10.1 2012 GT-N8000 to kitkat 4.4.2 without rooting or usb debugging enable, then during charging it, i forget it around four hours it restarted, and all the time in download mode, i used odin, failed to open Com port, i tried to enter to recovery, failed. i tried to enter to bootloader, i thing it is locked, also when i tried to use odin, it tells that no PIT is found, any suggestion? (changed usb cable, uninstall kies and install usb samsung drivers, used different versions of odin with CSC,Bootloader, PIT ,PDA,modem, files etc... ) all are failing, seems that it is just locking itself... the only place i can enter, is when i enter press power button, and - volume (Volume downn), it would take me to ODIN MODE , Product name: GT-N8000, Currnet Binary: Custom, System Status: Official, RP SWREV: A2 and it is all the time Downloading Do not turn off target, even i tried to uninstall the battery for sometime, and i put it again... and if just insert it to the usb it would start directly to Firmware upgrade encountered an issue, please select recovery mode (which i can't enter to it, failed to enter by power + volume up) in kies & try again, also the initialization of kies is not supported, if used...
What are you trying to flash with Odin? Try official
And if the device actually pops up in Odin and the COM port is through then the cable and the hardware is all fine.

Download a N8000 firmware which comes packed in zip
extract it and then select it with AP in odin,
flash and wait until you're done
and if it is struggling with the port try another one
Download the official firmware for your model number regardless of the region (that is if you're ok with it otherwise use your own region's)
Then use the appropriate Odin version to flash the firmware to your device while in download mode. Put the Firmware file into PDA/AP.
Make sure Reartition is not ticked otherwise your device will be bricked. (Lol it rhymes)
Make sure the cable connection is stable and don't disconnect the connection until the process of flashing is done.
Not advertising but you can find your firmware at Sammobile. It tells you which Odin version to use too. I'm not sure if Odin version matters but let's play safe.
Hope this helps.

My phone was on a 4.4.2 custom rom when the same incident as the op happened. Where can I find the official firmware for 4.4.2?

Howdy,
I've screwed up with installing a custom rom over another custom.
Now I'm getting an error:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again.
It's a tablet:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (p5100)
In my computer im using windows 10 pro, and adb device is not regonized.
What I neeed to do to get pasted that error?
Thanks for the help!
There is nothing to worry.
It is easy to solve this.
Just download Odin in your pc.
Download the official firmware if your device here.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-P5100/
Now open Odin In pc
Connect your device to the pc .
Now in the app under PDA browse for the firmware you have downloaded and click start.
Wait till it says pass.
That's it you have successfully solved your problem.
Now it will take some time to boot.
In case you feel that you are in a bootloop just go to recovery and perform a factory reset .
Odin download http://odindownload.com/download/Odin3_v3.10.6.zip

Greetings;
I don't know if you already entered Download Mode...
Most problems accessing Recovery and Download Modes are due to having the USB Cable connected.
Remove the cable; press the key combination; and it will boot.
(Except if there's some incompatible ROM flashed by mistake).
After that plug the USB Cable again (if your USB Drivers have also installed for Download Mode) Odin will recognize it (like shown in your Screen Shot).
REMEMBER:
While Flashing do NOT Remove USB Cable, untill Odin Displays "Pass" message.
Further issues: Let us know. We're would be Glad to help.
I tried to root my S6 using a method posted on here. However something messed up and my phone is i guess (soft bricked)
I have tried MANY different step by step guides with no help at all.
My phone either sits on the "Use smart switch for emergency recovery" or i can get into the ODIN mode, but that's it.
I downloaded the correct firmeware G920PVPU3CPB6_G920PSPT3CPB6_G920PVPU3CPB6_HOME.tar
Opened Odin 3.10.7
Clicked AP
Loaded the PB6
And everytime i attempt to get this to stock it stops at Pit Mapping and fails.
I have changed ports, USB cables, Redownloaded all the USB drivers etc and still can't get my phone to do anything.
Just now, I tried opening the One CLick Root, (just to see) and it doesn't even pick up my phone in Debug Mode, *saying its not in usb debugging* which i know100% i put it in that when i first started or tried to root.
Anyhow
ALL I am needing to do is get my phone back to working order, idc if it's back to stock or not. As long as it works. But i have tried everything i could find, and have had no luck at all.
Some one PLEASE walk me through what i need to do.
RECAP:
Downloaded Odin 3.10.7
Downloaded stock firmware
Gets stuck at Get Pit Mapping then FAILS
From the Odin Screen this is what is listed
Product: SM-G920P
Current Binary: Custom
System Stats: Official
FRP LOCK : OFF
Secure Download : Enabled
KNOX Warranty Void : 0 (0x0000)
RP SWREV: B: 3 K:2 S:2
If anyone can please help get this back in working order i'd be SUPER appreciative.
ALSO: I've tried connecting to Smart Switch to do the Emergency Recovery, but it keeps telling me my SN is incorrect. Dunno why i got it right off the box,lol
ALSO: KIES3 says it isnt a reconized device aswell....

Correct
Previously, I've talked about how I bricked my G920T by using an apk to try to root my phone.
Then I tried to do a factory reset with the stock recovery but it wouldn't even go into the stock recovery. So I flashed TWRP and wiped the whole phone including the system partition.
Then I tried to flash a stock 6.0.1 firmware to the phone but doing so did not improve the situation as my phone still won't boot. Even worse, when I power my phone, all I see is the blue LED indicator, no Samsung logo, nothing.
Then I tried to flash a custom ROM like XtreStoLite but that didn't fix anything either.
When I use TWRP or the stock recovery, the error "failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)" comes up on the log. I tried using the ADB method to fix it but my phone would not get recognized by ADB probably because USB debugging isn't on by default.
I cannot shut down the phone without having it charged to a power source then holding down PWR+DOWN VOLUME+HOME until the screen shuts off.
When I enter download mode, I don't see the warning screen, I enter the download mode directly.
It will warm you when you enter download. Or use TWRP and reboot into Download.Once in download flash the ROM using Odin. Get the latest one from SamFirm.
P.S. Next time root using CF Auto Root

It doesn't warn me when I enter download mode, that's one of the problems.
I tried flashing the official ROM using ODIN, it still won't boot because of the efs error.
1) Download the latest SmartSwitch
2) Click on more -> Emergency software recovery and initialization
3) Go into Device initialization, enter your model name, search for it and proceed as advised by the assistant
That should fix everything, otherwise:
1) Download the latest official firmware for your model, the 4-File (or 3-File) Version
2) Use latest ODIN, check repartition in options
3) Select all the files and flash it
If EFS or DRK is corrupted, flashing roms, custom or not won`t help, it can be fixed via repair box maybe (Octoplus/Z3X)
Try to flash CF auto root for your model, if it still won`t boot, then find someone with a box to try to help you remotely or not.
But Smart Switch emergency initialization with phone sn would be the first thing I would try.

Which mode should I be in when using SmartSwitch? No devices are shown when I have it plugged in during the bootup, and is so too in download mode but shows a not supported message.

Well if you know someone who have a box, it doesn`t have to be remotely.
If not, it is possible to fix it remotely, with help of usb hub (FlexiHub or similar), tunneling (TeamViewer or similar) and box software (you connect phone to your computer, the other guy connects box to his computer, both of you are connected through a gateway to a wonderfull thing called internet, and everybody is happy ) .
Same as on site, just with few more things in between the phone, and the box.

The S/N sticker on the back of the phone is long gone, is there any other way I can find it besides from going into settings because I can't do that?
EDIT: I am able to borrow a friend's serial and got the firmware installed.
The Samsung boot logo is back now, however, the device still won't boot. The efs error is still there but the download mode warning sign came back.
EDIT #2: Okay, I flashed TWRP now and ADB is working once again. Can I utilize this to fix the efs error?
I have a bricked S8+ stuck on samsumg logo (labeled as SM-G9550 on backside label), but when i boot into download mode, it shows "PRODUCT NAME: SM-G955N", How this could possible, when i check the imei on the web, it result SM-G9550 as product name

Try doing the carrier switch method first then downloading and installing the unlocked firmware afterwards via odin. Make sure you download the 955U1 Odin firmware and NOT the 950U. Also can you upload a screenshot of what it shows in download mode

I had the same issues flashing my 8+ . . . pit issues.
I found that a different USB cable worked, and also:
Go to download mode, start odin, load TWRP or other file, press start and then press pwn dwn, bixby and power, Odin will fail, but........
because you you went back into download mode, Odin will succeed next time you flash.
For some reason if I just acknowledged that Odin was going to fail on the first attempt, I kept the phone connected and did the routine, and on the second flash attempt, no more Pit file errors for me.

Hello everyone,
so my phone is soft-bricked after failure attempt to flash combination files in order to fix the csc.
I follow this thread, but the problem actually has nothing with that.
I used the latest patched odin V3.13.1, with a combination file named COMBINATION_FAC_FA80_G965USQU3ARG2.tar, and the proccess failed at flashing the system, and now i'm stuck; unable to flash other firmwares.
Before that, the phone was working perfectly after I've flashed a G965U1 firmware on it, in order to get rid of the bloatware of the original branded G965U (I don't live in the US).
Also, it successfully OTA updated to the latest G965U1UEU3ARK5 Firmware just a few days ago.
Things that I've tried so far with no success:
*Used different usb ports, both usb 2 and usb 3; and different cables
*Using both an Intel-based PC, and an AMD-based. (I know it may sound unrelated, but thats actually what prevented me from flashing the G965U1 fmwr the first time I tried, because i was using and AMD PC)
*Reinstalling Drives, installing latest kies, installing latest samsung smart switch
*using older versions of Odin
*tried to install the original Sprint firmware (v2) G965USQS2ARF4 through odin
*tried to install the G965U1UEU3ARK5 firmware through odin
The phone is stuck in download mode. sometimes if I disconnect and reconnect it, I get an unrecognized usb device message. so I need to reboot the phone again to download mode so the pc will recognize it.
and the result is always a failure:
either due to rev check, with the original OEM firmware
during the installation at 'vendor'/'system' step, due to auth error, when trying the G965USQU3ARG2 Combination file or the G965U1UEU3ARK5 files with patched odin
or even before that step with older versions of odin.
I'm out of ideas... I hope someone here has the knowledge to help in some way, Please...
