Won't turn on at all - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

12S came out today, and since this phone isn't my daily driver right now, I figured I would fastboot 11S back on my phone, then put TWRP on it so I can flash the update from scratch etc, and about half way through installing 11S through fastboot, the screen turns off and won't turn back on. I was at more than 50% when I was flashing 11S. I have been doing this stuff for a while with a bunch of different phones. I know it's not something I did. I tried hard rebooting on and off of the charger, trying it regularly on and off the charger. I have no idea why it won't power on. Anyone experience this and know how to fix it?

Alright, so if the OnePlus was meant to be

Alright, so if the OnePlus was meant to be a great mod'ers phone, which I think it is...
what's the point of OnePlus locking and bootlocking a phone they warranty even if you do unlock and boot loader unlock/root?
Thanks.
To pass CTS for Google
#stayparanoid
Exactly.
Transmitted via Bacon
Ok, understood. Given that and OnePlus's warranty remains after flashing, etc, prompting/supporting mod'ding, would it also then be a 'violation' against the CTAS for OnePlus to 'provide' a flash tool/unlock tool?
They don't provide a flash/unlock tool.

Yes, they do not. I'm wondering with all of their fanfare about their CM, mod'ing etc, why they don't?

They most likely don't because it'd be a waste of time and effort. It only takes one fastboot command to unlock this phone, it doesn't get any easier than that.

Got it. I'm wondering if that will still be available as Android puts out "L"/other updates? Or is the ease of unlocking always going to be this simple?

The version of Android that's running on the device should have zero impact on how easy it is to unlock the bootloader, they're not really related. Unless OnePlus devices to take a drastically different approach to the device all of a sudden, things will continue as normal.

[Q] Scrolling sensitivity & ghosting

Hi All,
I've installed TugaPower V35 and currently upgrading to 36. I have an issue with the scrolling sensitivity.
When scrolling a list, like contacts, I require to use a long and really fast flick on the screen in order to get just this very small push in the scrolling speed.
In some cases I experience ghosting or weird touch issues that disabling me from typing a message.
can someone please guide me for a fix?
Thanks!
please, anyone?
Why not actually ask in the Tuga thread?
Transmitted via Bacon
because it's not rom related.
I stated what I'm running currently in order to provide somewhat useful info. but its not rom related.
Have you tried a wipe and fresh install of CM11S?
Transmitted via Bacon
I didn't. Is this really going to solve this?
If I'm on 5.0.2, then how an older version will amend this issue?

It isn't about going forwards or backwards, it's about undoing any modifications/bugs/firmware mismatches by returning the device to a stock configuration (flashing the fastboot stock images). If anything is going to fix your problem, this is your best bet.
Transmitted via Bacon
Ok. So from my current version, can you please direct me to the best guide on how to go back to latest stock and then at least unlock and root?
thanks!
You'll find full instructions in section 8 of my guide thread. You don't need to relock your bootloader, and just root again as you normally would.

You can try the ROM, but you still need to wipe and flash the stock images first.

Yep, I thought so. Ok, I'll try that, though experience tells me that I won't get it resolved.
My wife has the OPO and I installed latest cm12 nightly and her phone doesn't have these issues... I bought mine 2nd hand and that is my punishment.

The first thing you need to do is get rid of the toolbox. Nothing but trouble. Plus, if you can't modify your phone without a toolbox you shouldn't be modifying it at all. Uninstall whatever drivers you have installed, reboot the PC, install these drivers, reboot PC again, connect phone, flash stock images (see section 8 of my guide thread).
Exactly how did your phone get into the boot loop?

I'm pretty sure you just got unlucky and had a corrupt persist partition, it's a bug that has happened to a few people, that particular automated flash tool flashes the stock images plus it flashes the persist partition. There isn't really anything you can do it avoid it, but i don't think I've seen it affect the same phone twice.

i think i spoke a bit too soon. everything worked fine, but now my phone is getting stuck when it boots. the screen it totally unresponsive. this was the same thing which happened when i restarted my phone. it might be some app i have installed.
i might have to redo the process.
is there a way to find out which one it is?
The only real way to find out would be to start fresh and introduce apps one at a time to see which one is the culprit. But I'd be surprised if an app was causing this.

I think you'll need to talk to OnePlus support about this, it doesn't seem right especially after using their own reflash tool.

the OPO support cannot seem to fix the issue. they have asked me to send them the phone back and i might get a replacement.
the issue is, I'm in Australia. the nearest location I can ship to is HK. There's going to be a long wait for my replacement to arrive. any other solutions?

I've gone through any potential solution that I know of. I'm in Australia too, it sucks, but we took a risk when buying this phone that something like this might happen.

OPO Just Reboots, around 40 to 50 times a day

Things I have tried
Flashing Factory Image
Flashing Different Roms
Using different ToolKits to restore to stock
Relocking/Re-Unlocking the Bootloader
Messing with the performance settings
Manually fastboot reflashing everything
Erasing the persist image and rewriting it
make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15
Flashing 25r
Flashing 38r
Flashing 44s
It does NOT work. The reboots remain the same, they have nothing to due with the CPU or heat. I tested that. When everything seems normal.... Reboot. Phone sitting by its' self? Reboot...Sometimes it will just reboot over and over for minutes. Sometimes it will go hours and then just go crazy.
I'm out of ideas. 95% sure motherboard failure of some kind.
Everyone's thoughts?
Have you tried using the phone with none of your own apps installed? Completely and utterly stock?

Big 10-4 there sir. I have. Tried with no accounts a d just pure factory default. Even safe mode. It makes no difference.
What are you doing right before it reboots?
When did you first start experience these reboots?
Did you have these reboots when you just got the phone?
What modifications did you ever do to your phone? For instance, you could've flashed some custom firmware/bin file onto your phone.
What I would do in a situation like this is find out how to get back to complete stock. So I assume this includes locking the bootloader, and using CM1xS. No gimmicks, just your phone when you first got it. If you still experience these reboots, it might be a hardware issue. I'd fill in a report at Oneplus and let them do their research.
Good luck.
This is a common issue. It may lead to your phone being bricked as the partitions become corrupted due to the rebooting. Take it to a service centre and have it looked at

Does it reboot while in recovery or fastboot modes?
No.
Is that good?
It also can run CPU tests for an hour straight but still crashes randomly after words. It is just trying to using it or also letting it set
I am going to try the coloros tool

Well if it isn't happening while in recovery or fastboot it isn't likely to be a hardware problem, so that's a plus. Which stock images have you flashed with fastboot?
