[Q]How to Turn off pop-up view ? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everybody
Do you guys know a way to deactivate the annoying pop up view ? Because everytime I wants to access my notification bar, the popup view thing shrink down the app I'm using and it's pretty frustrating

+1. I've been having the same issue.

+1 same here, you would think they added a possibility to turn this off but I haven't found it yet.

+1 for this... still haven't figured it out, would love to know if anybody else has.

What do you mean by pop up view? The giant quick buttons with brighness bar and sfinder/quickconnect? That thing bothers the hell out of me, it takes 1/3 of the screen. Also hate that you can't double click the notification boxes on the lock screen.

Sorry. Replied to quick based on title..
Similar description but different issue.

No, not that either. Pop-up view is when you drag down diagonally from the top right corner of the screen to make an app shrink down to a floating window.

looking through some other samsung touchwiz phone forums recently and it seems that there isn't a way to turn it off.

It's called MultiWindow and it is, in fact, annoying as ****.

Now that we have root, anybody have any thoughts?

Bump. Bump! It is super annoying with swipepad.

Bump. I hate it. Thinking of even getting rid of this phone.

I wrote a small application that can either enable/disable MultiWindow or bring back the MultiWindow Quick Toggle. It was primarily written for the Galaxy S6 however it should work on most of the devices that include Samsung’s MultiWindow feature. Look for “MultiWindow Toggle for Samsung” on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nerd.multiwindowtoggle

In describing the behavior earlier in the thread, someone said "Pop-up view is when you drag down diagonally from the top right corner of the screen to make an app shrink down to a floating window. ". This application permits you to turn off that feature/behavior.
I believe that multi window, split screen and pop-up views are all part of the same feature. See Samsung's description of the feature in their SDK: http://developer.samsung.com/galaxy#multiwindow

The two features are definitely similar and related, but they are also distinctly different.

I apologize that the name for the application isn't specific enough. Regardless, it should disable the feature that includes the multi-window and pop-up behaviors.

Yes. It disables both. The application disables MultiWindow mode, which the popup behavior is part of. My reply was in response to the original poster who was looking for a way to disable the popup behavior that occurs when you try dragging down the notification bar. I believe the application addresses that undesirable behavior. I am sorry the application doesn't give you the control you want. If time permits, I will see if finer control over the behavior is available.

hi,
very interesting app,great idea !
i might be wrong ,but have not seen any " similar app" like this,on Google play store /
( floating window with ability to trace etc.)
tried it on note 2 ,works fine ,just also had a few force closes(3) ?
i hope to follow your progress with this app.
good luck

hi,
i had the force closes about 3 times , when i was attempting to
trace and trying to resize correct screen size ( expand )
otherwise working smoothly.Just one more issue. Is it possible to" lock "
"screen" over photo ,as i noticed if you are not careful ,screen would slide "around "
on photo and making any attempt to trace difficult .
As stated above ,i find this app of yours very interesting.
I use the s pen of note 2 ,and it works fine.
good luck

Wow that app is really cool and unique! However there is one big problem when I'm using it, okay it's maybe only whem I'm using it! Its really annoying that the backscreen is black-transparentblack, I would love the app if I could change it somehow to white! It would help when reading white pdfs etc. and making notes. It would be really good change for all tiny apps but I for my use it only bothered me when I was using the painting thing... And then eraser is also missing, but thats not as bad thing!
If set up like this will be transparency.

Here at Codiaq, we believe that an Android launcher should get you to the app you need simply, and fast. The problem is that most android launcher now days slow you down, with loading, multiple screens, and bloatware.
With Prism Launcher, you can quickly open any app with a simple action bar search, additionally you can quickly perform an internet search from the same place.
To access all your apps, simply swipe up. You can also double tap the home screen to get to the settings.
Even though Prism Launcher is very simple, it is highly customizable. Customize everything from Wallpaper to text color, or from icon size to the number of columns.
Please keep in mind that Prism Launcher is still in beta. This means that you may occasionally run into bugs, although this in unlikely. Please feel free to post any suggestions or comments in the appropriate sections of our google + community or in the comments of this thread.
Furthermore, I personally promise to push out an update every week starting today.
Please feel free to download the app from here.
Thank you for your support. Codiaq Team.
looks and sounds cool.
Just giving you a heads up: your ads are under the navigation bar. That means as a user I'm scared of clicking them when I press the navigation buttons (even though they are actually underneath). That also means if I did want to actually click on an ad I would have a difficult time doing so.

Probably one of the most constructive points of feedback I have gotten so far. Thanks . This will be fixed in the next update.
New update being released soon. This will fix an issue that some people had that would cause the app to never launch. This also fixes an issue where the text would not be displayed under app icons after it was checked in the settings. This update also makes French translation significantly better.

[APP][4.1+] Snype - fastest way to access apps and contacts

Hi all!
I wasn't satisfied with any of the current methods of accessing all apps/contacts so I set out to create my own.
I present to you, Snype.
Snype has a unique dual-index system where switching between "snyping" apps and contacts is almost instant. It has changed the way I use my device and has done the same for many of my beta testers.
It also has a unique "side panel" mode where apps and contacts can be accessed simply by scrolling a finger up or down the edge of the display, which is always active no matter which app you are currently in. A list will appear and automatically begin scrolling to the location in the index that the finger is pointing to.
Snype does not try to replace your launcher. In fact, I designed it so that I would be able to use any launcher I like and not have to worry about the launcher's implementation of the app drawer. This means it's very easy to have a completely uncluttered, beautiful home screen and still be only a second away from accessing any app or contact you desire.
There are no ads and all functionality is available for free. The premium upgrade allows full customisation of the appearance of the lists.
Let me know how it goes for you!
I should mention that the premium upgrade is available for $0.99 for a short period of time to celebrate the launch of Snype. It will be a bit more later.

Really good app. I will give you 5 stars!
Some things to change:
- Add more languages
- if possible the alphabet lists have a title to know that one it is for apps, and the other for contacts.
- A widget and a direct access from home.

Thanks for the excellent feedback.
More languages is actually a surprisingly large challenge due to the indexes. It is something that I might look into again later, but when I was having a crack at it before there were some significant technical hurdles.
I have thought about doing something to let you know at a glance which is for apps and which is for contacts... like different colours or something. I'm not sure. Where do you think the title should go? There's not much room there.
I also looked into doing a widget. Unfortunately widgets don't support all kinds of views so making a widget with this functionality is impossible unless the launcher is built specifically for it. That's actually the main reason I implemented the side panels, because I knew the widget would not be possible.
ability to launch apps in halo would be nice. And maybe icon theme support. Very nice and useful app by the way:good:

I just released an update to fix some crashes in the initial release.
I just released an update which added animation to the side panels, adds Snype to the list of apps and fixes some bugs. I'm still trying to hunt down some bugs that occur only on some devices. Let me know if you have one of those devices please.
Okay, I think I've got all the known bugs fixed. Let me know if there's anything else wonky.
Just released an update with a new feature: favourites bar.
Now it's even faster to access those special few apps and contacts you use most often.
I love the ability to search contracts easily! And light theme looks cool.
Keep it up!:good:

Yeah, Samsung devices seem to do that. I'm not sure why, since even my Galaxy Nexus is pretty smooth and the Note 3 is much more powerful. I'll keep trying to make it smoother for you.

Hey everybody!
If you're running Android Nougat, you might be often using the Direct Reply feature for responding messages right from Notification Drawer. Once you've replied, you're still right there in the notification drawer. May be that's where you want to be, or may be not:
So, here is an extremely small utility App that basically lets you customize the behavior of the 'Send' button on your replies.
See it in action in this short clip:
I am still experimenting with the functionality, thought it would be a good idea to show a preview to the community. Please let me know what you think about it. Also suggest me a easily recognizable name for the App

This is a great idea! Wish I had thought of it, will be very convenient. Any way for us to get it now to try out?
I like the name QuickDismiss, but maybe that's just me
How about DirectDismiss? Looks like a great app, looking forward to trying it out!

I like the idea but the implementation from android isn't good because most of the time you still have to open the app itself. Just want to give you an example.
If you get more than one message you cannot expand them in notification drawer (I know there was a xposed module for that, but we're talking about android 7 = no xposed (yet)). So you have to open the app to read all incoming messages.
If you answer to the message you were able to read in notification drawer the message gets dismissed. If you want to send another statement you again have to open the app itself.
If you could expand the messages, answer (as always after the last incoming message) and still be able not to dismiss the message would be a real improvement to the feature.

Apparently, many Apps on Nougat are yet to implement proper notification creation for Nougat. For instance, WhatsApp just fixed it in their beta - https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/5nt5ue/whatsapp_beta_21713_finally_fixes_notifications/

Question App switch gesture

I am new with Samsung and I found out that app switch gesture is very annoying. On Pixel, Vivo and also on Iqoo it is pretty easy to swipe between apps with one hand holding the phone.
On Samsung it's nearly impossible to handle that, it's also not as accurate with two hands available.
Is there some workaround or does anyone know how do improve it?

Unfortunately one hand is just for gesture from the side corners.
You can create an App swap gesture or a shortcut with Nova launcher.

Yes from the edges left and right, but you can't adjust anything for the bottom.
yes indeed, I use a couple aditionall apps to fulfill my needs in this regard, "fluid navigation gestures" and "edge gestures" these two apps give you the possinility to use the bottom edge, "edge gestures" also has a useful "pie feature" that lets you allocate up to 7 aditional functions per edge
