So not sure if anyone has had this issue as well. Basically live in SoCal and when driving it losses signal then catches up 5 minutes later? Shows me off some streets and so on. Now ive had this issue with almost any phone i try here besides my s4. Soooo what am i doing wrong or what settings for data or gps should be changed? I had everything on auto and roam gaurds off. But ive tried without roaming and only on the home network w/ just cdma/lte as well instead of all auto. Any ideas or help?

Hello all,
Lately (meaning, the last couple of days -- perhaps 3 or 4), my phone has been unable to get a Verizon data network connection for a certain amount of time (4G or 3G). WiFi works fine. However, anything else doesn't work, say, for a few minutes, or a hour or so. Sometimes, a reboot will fix the problem, but sometimes it won't.
The odd thing is, the "4G-LTE" icon is displayed and shows activity (up and down arrows blinking), yet I can't browse the web, update the weather, update Facebook, check email, etc., etc.
Does anyone have any ideas? Running BAMF 1.3.2. I am in the middle of NYC (plenty of 4G service). Yes, Mobile Network is enabled in the Settings. Tried a battery pull as described above AND a SIM card pull. Still no fix.
I had a similar problem a few days after I got my Thunderbolt. I was still on stock yet. I ended up going to the Verizon store and they did a hard reset to fix it. It sucked because I lost all my data but since it was new I didn't have much on it. If you back up everything with Titanium Backup it shouldn't be too bad tho, factory reset is under "SD card and storage" in the settings menu.

There have been many problems with the TB and data/network problems as of late. I believe it to be because of this new 4G rollout that is coming Thursday, plus the fact we will be seeing an OTA quite soon they are propbably preparing the network for that, thus giving all of us all these weird problems that we have been having.
(everything above is just rumor and based on my 100% factual opinions )

You are describing the same problem I'm having and I also live in NYC. But, I have no problems getting data when I force the phone into 3G mode only.
I notice the data connection problem even though the 4G symbol is up when I don't have cell reception for a while...like being underground while on the subway.
Turning the phone off and on or rebooting seems to fix the issue. I'm thinking the phone has handoff issues with whatever tower is near by.
Anywho, I did the "data fix" by changing the EVDO setting from eHRPD to Rev. A. I dunno if that'll do anything.
Sorry if this has been mentioned before. I did extensive searching without finding anything before posting.
I have been having some very strange data connection issues with my Verizon S3 running BoneStock v3.3 (awesome rom BTW, much thanks to andybones and all contributers) over the past few days. Starting a few days back, my signal strength and transfer rates while at work were much lower than normal. While investigating this, I found myself exploring the settings menus (About Phone > Status and More settings > Mobile Networks) to investigate the signal strength more often than normal (and I believe it had been the first time I had ever been to the "Mobile Networks" view).
This morning, I noticed that I had a 3g connection only at my house (this is unusual as I normally have a very strong 4g connection at home and a pretty decent one at work). Toggling in and out of airplane mode, or rebooting the phone would result in a 4g connection for about 1-2 minutes or so before it would again drop back to 3g. Using the Speedtest app, I would get about 0.5Mbps or so down, and the upstream test would not even finish before showing "Network Communication Issues" and dropping back to 3g. Additionally, my phone has been running really hot and the battery has been draining much faster than usual. Meanwhile, I had ruled out a regional network issue by testing my wife's iPhone 5, which was maintaining a solid 4g connection while mine was dropping.
While Googling for this issue, I ran across lots of articles/discussions referencing the bad OTA update Verizon sent out back in June. It struck me how perfectly the typical list of symptoms for that update matched what I was seeing. However I couldn't see why my phone would be having such similar issues, as I never received that OTA update before flashing BoneStock, and have had weeks on BoneStock with no problems at all.
Just for kicks, I switched the "More settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode" to "Global", then switched it back to "CDMA/LTE/EVDO", then rebooted the device, and this has apparently fixed my issue!
To be absolutely clear... the current setting for "Network Mode" was already set to "CDMA/LTE/EVDO" when I checked the setting. I merely switched it, then switched it back. That was 2 hours ago, and my connection has been solid as a rock since then and the phone temperature and battery life has gone back to normal.
Doing more research, I saw that apparently the bad Verizon OTA update configured "Network Mode" to "Global" by default, and that many had fixed their connection issues by switching this to "CDMA/LTE/EVDO". Sounds very similar to my problem, except my UI was not showing that it was currently set to Global.
So, hooray that it's working, but I'm not sure what I did or how it was broken in the first place. My working theory is that the phone's Network Mode was actually set to Global somehow through some other mechanism but the UI was not displaying the setting properly, and by switching it and switching it back I overwrote that setting.
Does this ring a bell for anyone? I'd love to figure out what exactly happened, and hopefully prevent someone else from going through the hair pulling that I went through. Thanks in advance!
Hello there,
I'm having a bit of a issue with my 3G connection; I'm getting a lot of different issues while using it inside of my house. The main problems I'm having are the following:
My connection keeps freezing; even with 3-4 bars in 3G coverage. It also happens randomly, it can work a while then stop working and then continue to do so. Sometimes I'm even barely able to use the 3G connection. Putting the phone in airplane mode, and then back "usually" solves it, but sometimes it happens every fifth minute so it's really annoying.
The phone keeps changing cell towers to other towers with poor 3G coverage (which pretty much kills my connection), even when it's connected to a 3G network with 3-4 bars it changes after a while to a network with 0-1 bars in coverage.
Sometimes while loading pages or when trying to download files they get corrupt due to the connection; I've got no idea why this is happening.
I've been in touch with my telecom provider before and they've told me that there's no issues with their celltowers in the area; they've even been there to check it and I'm the only one in the area who've reported the issue. I've tried to put the simcard in another phone, but still no luck.
Is there any way to resolve these issues? I've been thinking if there's any way to force the phone to stay on the same celltower, but I've not found anything regarding it as of now. Any ideas?
Bump. Anyone?
Hi all.
I bought an s6 last week (G920F) and am running it on the 3 UK network.
Since getting it the phone will randomly show my location a Cheltenham in the UK, when I'm in fact in Sunderland, c.200+ miles away.
At home on wifi its fine but at work 10 miles away it often shows the wrong location (but when wrong its always Cheltenham).
At times it works ok. I`ve tried going from airplane mode to back and blocking/restarting mobile data and switching off handset and it does seem to eventually change but I cant pinpoint what 'fixes` it. I have tried a full factory reset which hasn't made any difference, but I dont know if this issue is software, handset or just network related....but I know it didnt happen with my 3 UK s4 before I changed.
I do have Location enabled but just on the Network and Wifi setting as I dont want to flatten the battery with GPS.
Anyone have any clues guys ?
Thanks
Robin
Now let me start off with this happens when I was on Verizon and now on ATT and with several different Samsung phones. I have an S22 Ultra now.
Really not into rooting anymore but might get back into it to run better roms and take over Android Auto. I hate AA it's too pushy taking over everything. I stopped using it. I'm old fashioned and not taking calls on my truck I would rather use the bluetooth headset.
Sorry...
Ok onto the issue. So you sitting in the house hotel whatever on WiFi you leave and then phone goes to the network automatically. I have no internet just sits and try's. I can fix this by rebooting the phone or go into airplane mode and out. Then all good to go.
Makes me to never use WiFi on my phone ever. Kinda annoying.
I'm I going nuts or is this an issue across the board?
.
Reset your network settings.
Why go through the trouble of resetting your network?
Go into Settings -> Apps -> Andoid Auto
DISABLE THE DAMN THING. I HATE ANDROID AUTO. It's what I did.

This has nothing to do with Android auto. I was asking about going from wifi to cell network and no internet.
and resetting network settings is an option like @pjaysnowden said.
Thanks
ok so I reset my network settings and will report back after a few days. I was having issues with my bluetooth devices disconnecting all the time and that seems to be better now. So we will see.
Ok well resetting the network and losing all my saved wifi data was a waste of time as I have found resetting the network data never fixes anything.
So still if I'm on Wifi and then leave the wifi then the phone goes to cellular automatically I have no internet unless I power down and back on or airplane mode on and off.
This all started on several different phones and with ATT or Verizon when this 5G crap rolled out.
If I force the phone on 4g all fixed does not do this. Very Strange.
My fix never get on Wifi. LOL
.
Sorry if this was mentioned before, have you tried messing with the "Intelligent Wi-Fi" Settings?
Settings -> Connections -> Wi-Fi
Tap the 3 Dots in the (upper-right and select Intelligent Wi-Fi.
Make your adjustments accordingly

Don't see much in there that would help with cellular network internet connecting when moving off wifi? I did look though.
I'm not having issues with wifi at all. It's the cellular network when going off the wifi.
Ok I just forced the phone off of 5G and use 4G LTE only on ATT. Network is faster and no longer have the leaving wifi issue. As for Android Auto. I removed it form my phone altogether. It's not worth the hassle. It also it not ready for prime time. LOL
5G is not ready for prime time yet... It suxs
Hi, is this happening to you with a specific wifi network or is the same with all of them? Is your WiFi signal strong when this happens?

No this happens no matter what wifi network I'm on. Really a PITA. I switched over to 4G and have not had this issue. Like I said. Did this on Verizon and ATT and different phones. I using the S22 Ultra now.
Thanks
