upgraded from the S4 on Verizon, have a few questions
1. how do I draw on screenshots/pictures now? I couldn't find an option to in gallery edit or google photo edit.
2. how do I see a text notification (an envelope) on the status bar of the lock screen instead of Verizon Wireless and the first part of the text message?
3. how do I disable the 3 buttons from lighting up?
4. which is better, Music or Google Play Music?
5. can I change the Messages theme back to blue and yellow bubbles or better yet custom bubble colors? I do not like the orange and white cremesicle theme
are these things even possible yet? I don't know if these are Verizon or Lollipop messing me up. the Verizon S6 board is dead tho

Did quite a bit of searching before i finally gave in.
Normally i almost religiously back up everything...this time i did not...obviously...or i would be reflashing and simply reinstalling
now i did not brick my Samsung vitality, I am not that stupid...however i did try out metamorph being bored...and its really a small issue but something i cant for the life of me get rid of...
on the swipe down notifications bar the stock battery color is green...well mine is blue...and currently the text in the notification area...is dark grey on black...so i have to tilt the phone to see anything.
anybody have any ideas on how i can fix this? or have just a basic stock rom for the samsung vitality.
there should be a notification bar color changer metamorph file for your phone
maybe even a text color changer
yeah its the text thats killing me, here sec lemme get a photo of it.
picture added its the black text on daaaark grey background, i just need to figure out how to change that text color to white
edit 2 picture is in edit box. wont let me post it otherwise.
fixed it, i think it was an issue with the framework not installing before a reset on metamorph, thanks for the assistance
Hey!
Totally new to Samsung phones. Flashed Google Pixel Edition and played around. Found something called Good Lock which seemed to look a bit more like the Resurrection Remix notification slider that Im used to.
Downloaded an APK for it and installed, rebooted and had some sort of small crash. Now I dont notice any change except that the icon that indicates vibrate mode has changed place from the right to the left side.
On the lock screen, this icon is placed to the right like it was from the start, but when I unlock it appears on the left.
I have xposed and flat style bar, when i access the settings for positioning there, everything appears normal. No indication that vibrate icon is placed to the left.
Any ideas?
Can we set a different color for the edge lighting when we get a call from certain contacts? If so, where is the setting or is there an app for it that works with the S8+?
Tia,

I'm using Textra and somehow when I reverted back to the stock theme I get purple edge lighting and purple outlined pop up when my wife texts me. Only does it for her. Everyone else is blue. So it's definitely possible.

Thanks but I am not referring to notification light color but rather assigning a color to a phone contact so when they call, I can tell by the color of the edge light who it might be or let it go to vm. I think the edge s6 had this option for assigning up to 5 caller contacts.

I tried to locate the video on this I couldn't find it but it was a tips and tricks on s8 edge panel and they mentioned that you can do it...how? Idk I don't use often...
This, suggests that you can: http://techlife.samsung.com/color-code-top-5-contacts-1537.html#page1
It's an article about the S6E though.
All my contacts in my edge panel have a blue circle. When I click on a contact, the nav bar changes to blue. On my S6E, all contacts have a different color, but I can't find how to change it on the S8+.
I'd love to get different colors but it seems like blue is the only one available. I'll do more searching and more testing and will report back if I find anything.

You can also re-assign colors for all contacts. This color will be used for edge lighting. Update: with Android Nougat update for Galaxy S7 edge, this color option was removed from People edge.

Looks like there's nothing we can do until Samsung updates that feature
I've been playing around with the different features for edge lighting, and there's not very many settings. The Edge Lighting on the S8 pretty much just shows as an outline around the screen when it is on. It can be blue, purple, salmon-ish depending on what theme you have running (i've only seen them change with the infinity themes). It also does the "glow" when it is face down, but that color depends on what theme you currently have, at least that's what i've noticed with mine. You can't really assign a color to a contact like you could on the older devices. I use LightFlow to change the color of the notification light. That seems to work a little better for me since the light is constant and the Edge Lighting only shows once very quickly for me, and you can assign different light colors to different apps/contacts/notifications.
I know on my Nexus 6, the default Google contacts, phone, and messages app were synced together based on the contact colors. Maybe you can try using those apps?
Edge lighting is based on which Samsung Theme you are using.
You'd have to find a 3rd party app if you want to customise it. There are many on the app store.
been a long time since I've been active here.
but could use some help. I have "red_burst" theme from the galaxy store that I bought. but there's still a lot off white left.
like in the nav bar.. above the keyboard for word suggestions and notifications bar.. among other places. I tried a few apks from the theme section but my phone started acting up and I had to do a factory reset.
could someone help me out... I'm overwhelmed with all these apks. back in the day we would just root and throw on a custom Rom. don't want to root so I'm trying it this way.
I'll PayPal someone $5 if they list all the apks I need to black out all this white space on this phone... and still make it usable of course. I don't even know where to start with the apk files.
bonus: blank out my nav bar and turn the nav keys red.. but keep the order (back, home, apps)
There's a couple of threads, Dark Notifications and Overlays. And there is Substratum for Samsung, the dark notifications only have grey type which some say is hard to read but to me is better than white.
Here a screen of the best you can do for now but the devs are working on it.
So recently i started to notice that in my home screen (touchwiz or other launchers) at the top of the screen there is some grey lines it is best visible if i use a black wallpaper and set the brightness to the maximum. This doesn't show anywhere except on the home screen. I tried other wallpapers, and if i look at it in the gallery or turn on ultra power saving mode there is no grey lines.(my device is galaxy s6)
Does anyone know what it is? Or how to fix it?
(i hope you guys can understand me sry for my english)
So, if you switch to your pictures and images gallery, the lines disappear?
Did you drop your device on the floor or did it incurred any damages lately?

It's a common issue. It's stupid Touchwiz/Samsung system which creates a small overlay at the top of Homescreens (any launchers) & lockscreens. In gallery etc, it's perfectly black since no overlay.
I don't think there is a fix. U can use a slightly greyish instead of full black wallpaper. It's not a big problem though
Oh i understand. Thank you for help. I was thought my phone has a problem.
Sometimes the grey lines can appear in Samsung mobiles if you use a bad launcher or a theme which is not compatible with the phone. You can try updating to a new version and see if fixes the problem, or use a light gray wallpaper as already suggested. Another couple of things to try... take a screenshot of your phone and test it on your laptop to see if the lines are still there. If not then it could be a problem with the screen itself. It's also worth restarting your phone in Safe Mode as this mode only runs with pre-installed apps. If you don't see the lines then an app could be your culprit
