First of all, hello everybody ^^
Vibration doesn't work on my Moto G since OTA update of stock kitkat to stock lollipop. Not in apps, not in google apps. Not even calls, or keyboard vibration.
I've tried every possible setting so I am pretty sure is not a settings problem.
I've read the post on how to downgrade but I am pretty lost. The process seems very complex.
Is there an easy fix to this situation?
You go to dialer and press *#*#2486#*#* , will have menu to test vibrate. If vibrate not work, mean hardware problem, not OS nor software.

My friend has a Captivate, just got a new one since there were some issues with the first one.
He rooted it, and now he lost his vibrate. Also, he couldn't install ANYTHING from the market. Couldn't even install the Google Maps update.
Would rooting cause this?
When he goes to Menu - Settings - Sound and Display - Vibration intensity, it is all the way up, but when he moves it he doesn't feel any vibration.
EDIT: I believe I posted this in the wrong forum. Sorry.
Rooting should not cause this. I rooted mine and vibration works fine.
Since the 4.4.4 uk ota update, vibrate is no longer working on system menus, haptic feedback for keypresses, when i toggle my phone into vibrate using volume rocker or when i receive a txt message. However it still works for email notifications and when the phone rings.
so far i've checked all settings and done a factory reset to no avail.
its a retail uk motog, not network locked, but bootloader locked and not rooted, on the stock uk rom. basically unmodified since bought.
Has anyone had similar problems or got anything to suggest as a fix? As a last resort ill unlock and flash a different rom but would like to avoid for the time being as this is my daily driver.
Thx for taking the time to read my post :highfive:
I have the same issue. My Italian Moto G 16 GB has stopped vibrating since 4.4.4 update. My phone is full stock.
I haven't tried mail notification and phone ring,
From The Netherlands checking in with the same problem.
Did anyone try to purge the Dalvik caches ?

Mine is working, im on UK retail 4.4.4
Hi all,
My Xperia Z3 was working great until I updated to the dreaded 5.1.1. Along with the other known bugs (USSD, battery drain, etc..), my phone is not ringing at all. The ringer slider is grayed out and cannot be moved. After rebooting, the ringer works for 1 or 2 calls then it goes back to silent. Have anyone faced this issue?

You need to do a factory reset.
I had that problem sort of. My phone after flashing a particular rom would basically go straight to voicemail. Called my isp, turned voicemail off, alls well.
Thanks for the answers. I noticed that when I disable background processes in Developer options the ringtones work fine. However, disabling background processes messes up the phone and many apps don't work properly. I might try factory reset but I was hoping for a simpler fix for this issue.
[Q] Slow Moto G and vibration issues
1. I recently got a Moto G XT1032 and updated OTA to Lollipop 5.0.2. I did not use it before updating, it has 500-700 MB of free space, I also erased the cache partition, but the phone is extremely slow. So slow that when opening Facebook for the first time, I have 15-20 seconds of white screen and then it loads, and 5-10 seconds of white screen for WhatsApp, GMail or Spotify. If it's in any way relevant, it's not rooted, I am using Aviate launcher, no other customizations and when using Apus launcher, for example, it's a tad faster. I know Moto G was not supposed to be one of the faster phones on the market even when it was released, but what would you recommend me to do to bring it to a decent speed? Meaning which ROM, script, optimizations, Android version etc. would you recommend?
2. Issues with vibrations: it vibrates a couple of times (for example when typing a couple of letters on the keyboard or when getting 1 notification) and then it stops vibrating. Even when using vibrate test from Test my Android, it does not vibrate and the only way to make it vibrate again is to shake it. After shaking, if I use long vibrate test, it vibrates for minutes, but if I start and then stop it, it stops vibrating on the 3rd of 4th try (probably depends on how hard I've shaken it). On short vibrate test, it stops vibrating after 2-30 vibrations (again, depends how hard shaken before). If test is on and I shake it, it starts vibrating again, so it seems to have trouble starting the vibration. Is this a hardware problem and any idea how to fix it? Did not manage to try solution from http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/guide-fix-annoying-bad-vibration-t2860152 because I don't currently have the tools to open it.
PS: also not sure how relevant it is, but at some point it had a cracked screen and LCD+frame was replaced with something bought from eBay.
I'd try a factory reset. It's something I always did after updating the stock rom via Ota. Just backup your apps and settings. Anyway I'd advice installing a custom rom since my Moto G slowed down too a lot after upgrading to 5.1.
So is it normal for the device to be so slow? I will try in the evening the factory reset and then reinstall the apps (will probably use Helium). About custom roms, I don't need anything fancy and with lots of customizations, just based on Lollipop and fast, what would you recommend?
Sort of because lollipop is far heavier than kitkat and a big os upgrade without a wipe may leave too many trash files in the system. If you want fast roms you should try the aosp based ones. I'm currently using Paranoid.

Thanks, I did a hard reset, reinstalled apps and the speed has improved quite much. At least I don't get "application is not responding" messages and it's as slow as it should for the hardware it has. I would not unlock it and put custom ROM on it, factory reset was enough.
So I received an OTA update the other day, and now everytime I am playing music and turn off my phone it mutes it. It's made the phone almost unusable especially if I turn on the setting to wake the screen when I get notifications. I wondered if anyone could help me fix it without rooting as I thought that maybe it's a simple fix, and I'm just overlooking something. Here are my phone specifications.
Model Number BLN-L24
EMUI version 5.0.2
Android Version 7.0
Edit - I solved this by resetting all the settings in the backup & reset advanced settings in case anyone else has the same issue.
