The Galaxy S4 has a good screen but it's a little too over-saturated giving unnatural skin tones. Switching to "Movie" mode results in rather muted colors. For accurate color reproduction there's a new app "Calibrated photo Viewer" on Google Play with pre-calibrated color and gamma corrections to show photos in their natural colors.

Adobe RGB and sRGB color spaces are supported so both standard and professional photos can be viewed seamlessly, without the need to switch 'screen modes'.
The app works just like a normal photo viewer. No rooting is required.

I'll check it out, thanks! I'd love a way to set the rgb for the whole phone, not iust one app, as my whites are quite greenish in comparison to many other screens-is this possible without kernel modifications?
Unfortunately I don't think that is possible without a mod kernel.

Hi to everyone. Noob question, like plasma TV's and LCD's you can change / tweak their color values, hue, brightness contrast etc. Some even go as far as open the service menu of the TV to do a more thorough job. I was wondering if there was a way/app/hack to do this on the phone.
The screen is great but a bit too saturated and plays on the blue/green spectrum a bit too much.
Hardcores speed mode kernel has color adjustments for cool and warm. So I think the answer is yes, but it is not easy and requires knowledge of programing the device

Thanks, I am quite new with all of this, I tried searching for Galaxy Tunner app in the market but did not find it anywhere there.
Thanks though for the input, must be core complicated that I think.
Anyway it would be great if phone makers in the future build in some sort of screen tuning app and presets, you know how like TV's have a cinema mode, vibrant mode, etc. plus a few basic controls for color temperature and hue.
This is a Wish List for any ideas for future development.

- me as a noob - dreamer think, that the app could be written based on standard cam app with light filters altered
- now IR is filtered away to give a clear picture within standard light conditions
- what if somebody will filter away a visible range of light with IR filtering removed (filters will remove visible light instead of IR)
- next feature for the app could be automat swich between standard and Infra Red light spectra being active based on light intensity (e.g. below 10 lux it will go to night vision mode)
In result, there will be a camera app alloving the movie taking on suny beach and continue into dark cave without movie interruption having always bright picture

The IR filtering is almost certainly done in hardware. Its called a low pass filter and would have to be physically removed to allow ir night vision.
However the last point of high dynamic range video could be done in software, but not with infrared

The idea is to apply a color filter similar to the one used by Mac OS X Photo Booth.
The paid version allows custom colors, adjustment of the thresholds and applying the effect to existing photos.
The free version's functionality is rather "fixed", but the core algorithms are exactly the same.
I need feedback as to how it functions on different devices and such.

Some roms cannot xhange rgb. This apps helps but it trial for the feature. Sad
I know its would be pretty easily acheived through tasker with the current version, but an update to change colour profiles (particularly the daylight oversaturated one) based on ambient light level would be most appreciated.
Great app otherwise! Especially useful for kernels and devices that don't support kcal.
Any change of values results in framerate drop across ui. I'm using Xperia ZL on stock 5.1.1. The stutters in ui are constant until switch it back to normal and reduces the experience greatly. If there was a way to increase saturation without having to deal with those frame drops it would be awesome.
If you can fix it with an update please do it.
The stutters I experience are similar to those when I enable simulate colo space in developer options.

It's been 4 months now I have bought this device, since last 2 months I'm facing this Display problem. I'm not sure what it's actually called but it's like double imaging effect!
When i use whatsapp, after exiting the app I see the whatsapp chatscreen everywhere like on the launcher-homescreen & while viewing videos etc. visible more on a grey background!
Youtube non-tilted orientation image is also seen in Sub-key option when i type *#0*# in the dialer to check display issue!
Also the status bar is burned-in & visible while viewing videos & under grey background!
I tried all sorts of Display pixel fixing Apps from the playstore but none worked! I hope this is a software issue & will be fixed with the Nougat update! I tried resetting my device also but the problem still persist!
Please share your knowledge, opinions & experience to help me out!
P.S :- The PLS IPS display of this phone is good for outdoors & natural color reproduction! But I wish Samsung would give an update for Display color mode settings like the S. Amoled phones have, where you can tweak the color balance according to your preference! The colors are dull on this display which I don't prefer!
