Recently, I've been experiencing tremendous LAG on my XOLO Q1000. The device is rooted and is running stock Jellybean 4.2.1. I have Xposed Framework running with GravityBox. I've been using these for the past 6 months, but I haven't had any issues. But of late, the phone seems to hang very frequently, and takes a lot of time to open up apps. (Even the app drawer takes about 3 seconds to open up). I checked the running apps tab in the settings, but that did not show up anything unusual. I also checked the storage status, I have ~300MB of free space on my internal storage, which totals upto 30% of the total storage. also, I regularly clean up the cache. Yet,the RAM usage described is pretty high. Please help me with this issue. What could be the possible solution?
Thank you for using XDA Assist. Android uses RAM different than windows. There's an old saying "unused ram is wasted ram". Lag can be caused by many things and a factory reset is often required. I would check on your devices' help forum to see if others are experiencing the problem and what they are doing about it. Here is a link to the forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/help
Thanks for the advice!

Thanks, but the problem is that there is excessive RAM usage even when I'm not running any apps, as can be seen in the screenshot. And a factory reset means that I shall lose all my apps(Unless i perform a full backup), which i don't want.
Also, my device is a XOLO Q1000, not the galaxy note 3, the link to which you have posted. Still, thanks for the effort.
Cheers!

Since I updated my Nexus S (i9020a to be exact) to ICS 4.0.4, my phone has been randomly rebooting like everyday! I did manually update it but I got stock Android and also I am unrooted not have my bootloader unlocked. Why is this happening so frequently? Should I factory reset my phone?

I also had a spontaneous reboot a couple of days after I updated to 4.0.4.
It's only been four days total, so I'll be keeping an eye on it.

The thing is I'm not rooted and it seems that factory resetting actually did a job cuz no reboot so far... I'll update forum if this method works...

Personally I've had several occurences of random reboots and actually at the phone lock into a reboot loop till I pulled the battery.
I think the issue is RAM management. The Nexus S doesn't have as much RAM as most tablets and it's younger sister the Galaxy Nexus. Something in how the OS decides which of the background services should be terminated and cached under heavy RAM load seems to be part of the problem.
For example, I seem to have improved my phone stability by removing apps that update in the background and don't need to (UAL, I'm looking at you ) and disabling background updates in other applications (TripIt, PodKicker Pro, etc) to prevent them from leaving background services running. That seems to have helped in my case.

wipe data may solve this issue.
I have been running Pete's Bugless Beast which has both the ROM and Kernel updated to 4.0.4. Never had a random reboot.
I doubt it is a memory issue. When my phone doesn't have a foreground app open it usually has 130 MB ~ 150 MB free. I never see it go below 100 MB.

Exactly when is it powercycling?
Is it when running a certain app? When plugged in? When on standby? When you set it down or bump it?
There a number of different reasons the phone could be powercycling.
If it's while running a certain app or completely at random while you're not using it, unprevoked, first try hard resetting it. That will resolve the majority of issues.
If it's when you set it down or it's bumped, it's an issue with the battery making contact. Remove your battery, clean the contacts gently with a pencil eraser, make sure the contacts are clean and free from pocket lint on the phone itself and reinsert the battery.
If it's still doing it after a reset, it could be your processor. The best way I've found to test your processor is to max it out. You can do this by running a benchmark app over and over while everything on your phone is running. I personally use "Neocore" (available in the Play Store). Turn on your bluetooth, wifi, max your screen brightness, gps, every battery sucking processor running setting available. Run Neocore as 'Interactive Mode'. If you run that for an hour without powercycling, your processor is good. If it powercycles, you have a bad processor and should have your phone replaced through Samsung warranty.
Best of luck to you!
Random reboot
My phone is rebooting at least 15 times a day !
It is very random : during a phone call/installing an app/unlock the phone/writing with keyboard/phone is idle...
Applications are also often not responding...
I did a factory reset/wipe data several times but it didnt change anything.
Phone :Nexus S i9023
Carrier : unlocked ( HK )
OS/build number : Android 4.04/IMM76D
A really big amount of people posted the same issue on google mobile forum. ( i can't post link yet as it is my first post ) title "Random reboot of nexus with Android 4" ( please google it ) , but nobody mentionned anything with CPU. Could it be really that many people having a default CPU ?
After my last post, no reboots for while but now reboots are back with increasing frequency.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I don't usually like resurrect a really old thread, but after a road trip where my Nexus S randomly rebooted 4-5 times while running Podkicker Pro and Maps Navigation I went and reset my device to factory defaults. The next day I had the phone reboot in the middle of a podcast. Today it rebooted halfway through the first ring when I received a call.
Seems to be, at least in my case, that the reboots are related to mp3 audio.
This lead me to find this bug logged against the galaxy nexus: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=22669
It doesn't provide an answer, but it does provide some insight. I think personally I might look at different ringtone formats and see if converting my custom ringtone to something other than MP3 will help, but I'm not optimistic.

in the blog- open the- how to fix lag post- in that you can find the method for increasing ram and other cool stuff.
It is a good blog
I checked the website there's nothing there. Besides like I said it's impossible to increase ram using software, you need physical means to increase it and this is not possible on Android devices for now.

RAM too low
My RAM memory is too low (a total of 360 MB out of 512 MB) in my mmx funbook p275. I have checked it in terminal emulator using "free" command. I have even checked /proc/meminfo. It's the same.
I have bought it last week. Is it a defected tablet? Should I go for a replacement?

NO your Tab is not defective at all LOL actually when a ram/Harddisk comes from the factory they count 1gb as 900 mb or less but the OS counts 1gb as 1024 mb so If the actual ram is 512 mb you get around 360 mb. If it helped then please hit the like

Micromax P275 power button problem
Hi,
Plz kindly read this long note with patience ....
I'm facing a unique problem, don't know if anybody has faced the same. I bought mmx p275 by the end of March and it was working fine with some performance issues sometimes. One day I happened to put the tab on charging and when I pressed the power button to check the battery level, it suddenly flashed a message that tab was encrypted and it is going for factory reset. After it booted all my apps were lost. I again installed them but to my surprise, my tab became smoother and faster than before. I then rooted it to install some system monitoring apps n everything was working like charm. By mid-August the real problem started, its left speaker stopped working; I knew now I'll have to go to the service center, which I always wanted to avoid at least for mmx. However, I couldn't manage time to go there.
Now coming to the real problem, in the month of September a friend gave me a game (he played in his mmx p275) which as soon I installed avast blocked it as a virus. I somehow managed to uninstall the app, after 2 days the tab started to malfunction, became slow and more importantly the power button stopped functioning, I thought power button's days were over. I was unable to use the tab, as you know it only works through that button. After someday I put it on charging (it was entire time wake as I was unable to shut it down), then I casually pressed the power button and to my surprise it responded. Thought finally problem was solved. But no it was only the beginning, next whenever I pressed the power button sometimes it would work like normal and sometimes it would automatically shut the tab down with a thud sound. Whenever it does so the date and time resets to 2 Jan 1970, 5.30pm. In addition, it boots automatically say after 3-4 hours. Now the button does not respond whenever it is connected to charger or computer and after its disconnection, it takes 2-3hrs to respond. Otherwise, it works with a mind of its own. Thinking of the virus effect, I put the tab on factory reset thrice but to no avail. Now I'm in a fix as what the problem - is it hardware or software. Before taking it to the hopeless service center, I want to check all other alternatives. Plz plz help me out.
N.B. Except rooting I've done no customization.
Thanks.
:crying:
Factory reset is just about deleting user settings and data. If system partition has been modified by a virus, no amount of reset will fix it. Assuming there really is a virus capable of that on android (?), reflashing the stock rom would be the easiest definitive solution.
Then again, if the symptoms are the result of hardware gone bad, nothing you do will change that, short of sending the thing for repair.

I swiped right past it when I was looking. My RAM is nowhere near that. System 442 MB, Apps 635 RAM, Free 779MB
Day two here. Not an Issue. I clean wiped.
Did you dirty flash? If yes, reflash and do a clean.
Did you reinstall apps using googles back up? If yes, wipe and when resetting up do not use this service.
Did you just clean wipe because that usually fixes stuff? If not. You may want to try it.

Weird... My system is only take about 200 MB
This problem happen also with last dev preview. Of course i have done a full wipe to install lollipop final.
I'm only using have the ram. No issues here. You may have an app not optimized for lollipop.
i know this may not be the optimal solution but FB apps? just run a day without them and then see if the problem still persists.
Only 67mb here....
Normal for me here too been running for almost 24 hours.
Hello everyone, I'm sorry if my title is missleading but I don't know a good title for it.
First off, let me explain what happened. I left my phone closed to charge for 3 hours, after I opened it the phone closed itself up and as I reopened it I realized it was running veeery slowly so I checked my RAM usage and I saw that 600/768 of the space was being used without having any applications on(I have a Galaxy Trend Plus gt-s7580), I pressed the button to clear my memory but it barely was able to close 5/10 of the applications and the RAM usage remained around the same. I realized that something must've installed on my phone when it closed itself up so I looked around the internet to see if I can find a way to repair it or someone with a similar problem as mine. After not being able to find anything useful I decided to go in the factory mode and wipe all my data from my internal and sdcard, I did so and when I opened my phone and went through the setup steps and I realized that the thing that is using mostly all my RAMS is still there(also worth mentioning is that my SU was still installed so I'm assuming that the thingy that's causing all the troubles work in a simillar way).
I would appreciate any kind of help
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Since you're having some weird problems and you've already done a factory reset you might as well flash the stock firmware using Odin. If you're not sure how to do that see this,http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539

There is no "lollipop memory leak" on the Z3. I think you must be talking about an application with a memory leak as I've had my phone for 8+ months now and have never had to reboot it. You should perhaps perform the usual steps to determine which app has the problem and then take the problem up with the developer, or use another app.

Dear friend... We already know that Lollipop Memory Leak is not present in Z3... but this doesn't mean that memory management is ok...
please check this... https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/kernel/commit/f971262f63f380d9386dbe4c55eed0809eba0b18
Is a recent commit to solve a memory leak in the kernel...
As you can see memory management can be improved.
Ah... another thing: if I check app I will notice that only system apps cause this kind of memory saturation.
PS: Maybe you need to reboot your phone.. at least to install OTA

I'm sure a few bytes goes astray every now and then. Unless it's something which happens repeatedly, and takes up a sizeable amount of memory you'll never notice it. And memory taken within a process will be freed when that process is killed (ie even if not freed explicitly from within that process).
Yes, I may have rebooted my phone to diagnose an issue or install an upgrade, but every 4 days? No - the phone is faulty or you've been installing rubbish if that's the case.

Also I swear LP on my D6633 only uses 2 out of the 3gb of RAM. I never see less than 1GB free ram when I was on it.
