Gray pictures during gallery scrolling - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
i dug into old threads, but no working solution found. There are similar issues..but not the same (as per my opinion).
This problem was present with Kit Kat 4.4.4 and now with Lollipo 5.0.2.
I have a MotoG with the issue present on video ...if i scroll the pictures with stock gallery app some pictures are displayed for a while..and then got "corrupted" (in gray)
If i use Quickpick app i'm able to display them (and also with other apps) , if i try to edit the photo with Gallery app i'm able to display it during the edit mode...i have the issue just during the scrolling view.
If i copy and write the pictures in different memory positions i cannot solve the issue (so it's not memory corruption).
I tried to copy over Bluetooth the picture to a Samsung S4 device and with Gallery app i'm able to see it...
I deleted Gallery cache, .thumbnails folder with no luck.
MotoG is NOT ROOTED.

[Q] Images not updated in gallery

Hey all,
I've been using galaxy R for couple of months now and i've started to face this problem from a week.I have observed that after i add new images (jpg) to usb storage they dont appear in the gallery after the media scan.I've tried restart and clear data for gallery app but nothing seems to work.
I can very well see the images in myfiles or astro file manager, also tried quickpic and it displays the newly added images correctly. Also if try to open images from filemanager using gallery app, takes long time to open any image which is again not the case with quick pic.
I really need the default gallery app very badly.
Thanks.
Check if there aren't any other files in your image folder. Sometimes noimage.dat or other file appears out out nowhere and it causes the gallery problem. Delete that file if it is the case + try to not keep other file-types in your pics folder.
Well I've checked it and there are no such files neither hidden one. Also i've completely deleted the previous folder and copied to a new folder. But looks like gallery is freezed except for the camera folder and images downloaded through internet only gets updated.I've deleted entire contents of cache folder in data/cooliris but does not work.In fact previous images turned black.I dont seem to understand whats going on with the gallery.
maybe try a factory reset

[Q] Jelly Bean Stock Gallery, grey Images

I'm sorry for bringing this up again, I know it has been asked before, but the solutions provided didn't help me.
My problem:
The Stock Jelly Bean gallery app only shows grey images and thumbnails..
I have tried to clear the data and cache of gallery and media storage, rescan the sdcard, full wipe, changing roms etc.
the weird thing is.. everywhere else the pictures display normally. Quickpic, file explorer, computer etc.
it's just the stock gallery app..
i don't mind using quickpic, but it drives me mad: ever since the images didn't work, daydream doesn't work, i can't set whatsapp pictures and similar

[Q] Stock gallery/Photos not showing new downloaded images?

Apologies if this has been posted before, I tried to use the search feature but it was giving me an error saying it was temporarily unavailable.
For some reason any downloaded images to my phone (into the folder Downloads or otherwise) are not showing in the stock gallery app? I've tried force stopping the app, clearing the data and cache but still it doesn't want to show the new images
The files aren't corrupt and can be seen in ES File Explorer perfectly fine and I've downloaded Quickpic to see if they show on there, which they do.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!
Yes, happens with me all the time... it gets sorted out by itself.. give it sometime. Refresh gallery from the 3 dot menu in gallery and stay put!
I use QuickPic as my default gallery app... I find it the best!

[Q] How to Hide Photos/Videos?

Not sure if it's the device or kitkat 4.4.2 sepifically? I've been using Vaulty in the past on previous device on android 4.2 and worked fine. I have private photos saved on my external sd card but want them hidden on my device. The stock gallery photo app shows everything, trying to avoid this. I know in the gallery app you can choose to not show certain folders but anyone can toggle this feature.
Basically want to hide the pictures i have on my sd card. I installed Vaulty which does not hide anything on this device. I found an app Gallery Lock lite which does but as soon as i reboot my device the "hidden" pictures are again visible in the stock gallery photo app. Any ideas on this? I have the private photos now saved in the Gallery Lock lite app so maybe now just delete them off my SD card and they won't show on stock gallery photo app?
Then if i take private photos with the phone's camera i hide them with this app and if photo is still in gallery just delete and the app will still have a copy saved inside? Seems confusing on this thing when it was so simple on my previous device, HTC One X+.
Should be able to create a .nomedia file and put it in the directory where the pictures are. This will make the phone ignore that directory when scanning for media.

You could also simply edit the file name to some random file extension using es file explorer.. rename them all to .txt files.

5 best android apps to hide photos and videos
You can use apps to hide photos and video. And this's 5 best android apps to hide photos and videos
1. Hide Pictures Keep Safe Vault - is one of the best apps to lock away your personal pictures and videos with ease. The app makes it effortless to simply store away your videos and photos in a safe vault. The separate gallery is kept hidden from the regular ones. I have used the basic version of the app for a while and it worked perfectly.
2. Gallery Lock (Hide pictures) - is one of the most popular apps around for Android. Almost every friend of mine recommends this free app for daily usage. I was pleasantly suspired to see the robust feature list of this app. Gallery Lock comes with almost every feature you would want from an app that hides photos and videos for you.
3. Hide Something - Photo, Video - With Hide-Something, your public gallery remains available to your friends, family, and coworkers. And your hidden images are only for who can unlock. With Hide-Something, you can customize your gallery when you want to show different photos to different people. With Hide-Something, you can share your photos and videos easily, even hand over your cell phone to others and no worry about your privacy.
4. Gallery Vault - Hide Video&Photo - comes with a simple and understandable interface and a good design. You simply need to move the images to the GalleryVault and they will be kept safe behind a lock code. The app also has the option of making the launch icon hidden; virtually making it completely concealed from your device.
5. Hide Pictures & Videos - FotoX - allows you to store your private pictures and photos in a secret gallery. If you want, you can take a picture directly from the app itself and it will be stored instantly. It is a great way to avoid the extra work of manually selecting pictures and hiding them in a secret vault.

Pie: Google Photos in Camera app

After the recent Pie update I noticed that there is no more Google Photos link in Camera app. When I open the fresh photo from within the Camera app, it opens in separate editor.
So the question is:
Can I bring back good old Photos to my camera?
P.S. It's not just that link is missing. If I delete the photo from within this weird new editor, it stays in Photos app.

I had the same problem when I removed the oneplus galley app with the 'system app safe remover' app (Root required) from the playstore. Even with a different camera app. Installing OnePlus Gallery again from the playstore didn't solve he problem.
Tried to remove the DCIM folder by renaming it, I restored the uninstallation with 'system app safe remover' but that didn't solve the problem either. Removing all updates for the oneplus gallery app by "uninstalling' the Oneplus Gallery app from the playstore. It removed all updates but didn't solve it either. What it did fix was flashing the same rom without wiping the userdata. after that it worked again.
Hope it will solve your problem too.
Maybe offtopic: Anyone knows how to uninstall the default oneplus gallery app without breaking the link to the DCIM photo's?
