[Q] Yellow spot on display - LG G Flex 2

My g flex 2 has a yellowish stain on the lower left corner...the blind people at sprint shut me down for a replacement because they claimed they couldn't see it. I've asked at least 7 other people for a second opinion and they could all see it. What is it, and what should I say to the assholes at sprint the next time I come in?

I fix phones, sometimes when we get yellow spots on screens after being replaced say like on iPhone devices it mainly is because something is putting pressure on the screen somewhere, most of the time it is something near the lcd flex cable where it connects to the motherboard. Like with iPhone 5 you have a metal shield covering the connectors and if you tighten the screws too much then you get yellow spots on the screen somewhere. Ultimately I'd tell them to check for that, to check that nothing inside is too tight near the connector if the lcd. Would be great if you can post a photo of your screen.

Install Dead Pixel Detect and Fix from Play Store, select the grey color from the options and dim the brightness of your phone.
It's much more visible that way and then go back to where you purchased your phone and show them.
When grey you see lots of uneven spots on your screen.
I have the same problem with mine and it's clearly visible.
Don't let them take you for an idiot (because I am sure they DID see it) and force them to replace your phone. Open the new one in front of them and check if it's ok.
If not ask for another phone.

I got my second one and this display got the same problem. Like already said, its good visible on a grey Background.
I let it change again and when the third one have the same Problem, i will get the HTC M9

Mine has it too. It looks like some Chinese guy pissed on that piece of paper used as white background and then put it to our phones. POLED

Trust me. You guys aren't the only ones with this very infuriating defect. Got this defect on my new phone (not an LG) and I've got yellow piss stains all over the white screen. ****ing nightmare.

Hey I got mine replaced and the new one has no problem anymore. No yellow spots.

Nice to hear.
Two LG G Flex 2 had already a yellow spot on Display and I hope that the third one arrives without that issue.

Is there any chance they ever go away? Is it the glue?

Is there any way to make the yellow spots go away? Im just curious

If it is the glue yes. There are some ways to accelerate the procedure but i dont approve
for example uv light or under the sun.

JFYI
I've seen so many of these threads & just want to chime in that I have a Sprint version ordered about a day after release & it has no color issues @ all.
It has been dropped, sat out in the sun & flexed.
I even installed the app to test, no color issues.
The OTA update is failing of course since I rooted it.
Anyway, point is, there are good ones out there.
Good luck everyone.

hey man.. i just got an exchange because my previous one had two really distinct yellow spots at the top.. but the new one seems to have it spread out across the display and only noticeable on grey backgrounds.. wondering if yours eventually went away or is it still a persistent annoyance.. thanks!

Weak display glue & creaking camera?

Just got my AT&T One X a couple days ago, and I noticed that the bottom two corners of the display are very slightly raised, and pressing down on them pushes them in, and presses against the display as if the entire display assembly is raised. In dark areas, there is noticeable light leak from the capacitive buttons where the display is raised.
In addition, the circular housing around the camera creaks when pressed in, as if it's ill-fitting. Definitely annoying and concerning.
I took my phone into the at&t store and they told me "oh, all phones are like that to a certain extent, if we exchanged it the new phone would have that too". Should I go back and try harder to exchange?

I think so. Mine has none of those issues and is very solid.
Yes you should go back. You are paying good money for that phone and the service! Also, there is an old saying that I think that AT&T is forgetting or has forgotten. "The customer is always right."
I am shocked a little that she would just pooh pooh it off like it was all cool and that you would believe that they are all that way? Such a shame that these new shiny expensive phones are having these cosmetic flaws. There was an issue of a discolouration on one of the newer Sony phones.. *shakes head* Hate to say it but this phone was ruined for me when I found out it was gonna be only 16gig..
Good luck there, friend
It's hit or miss just like anything else. I hate doing unnecessary exchanges for small petty stuff.

Take it in and demand a new phone. What you are describing are definitely defects with your particular phone, mine is flawless. You paid good money for that thing and are stuck with it for two years, you should not have to settle for anything less than a perfect device.

Wow, that kind of pisses me off for some reason. Don't let retarded ATT personnel tell you what is expected build quality. Most of those floor clerks don't know their ass from their elbow when it comes to technology. Like the other dudes said, take it back and ask for an exchange, make them bring out two or three other units and pick the most solid one of the bunch. You're paying multi-hundred dollars for it and signing a two year contract, don't let those same retards that told me the one x has "a amoled screen" and that I should get it because "it works even with a lumia 900 sim card" lecture you about build quality.

Most of our htc one x have this light leak from the buttons, look for the thread, its normal.
The camera area is plastic.
and can you post a picture/video of the screen issue? just so we can get a idea of how much you are pushing it in lol
Yea that's a defect, you should able to exchange that...

I had similar issues with the creaking and the top right of the screen being "mushy". I had bought mine outright at BestBuy and I took it back and told them it was a defect confirmed online, which for the most part is. When I got the next one not a single creak and screen is solid.
Just take it back and tell them you did your research on the issue and found that it is indeed a defect, because it is.
Common with HTC out seems. My inspire was exactly the same.

I just noticed that, if I press on the screen (not even that hard) in the bottom half, it does what you see in the third picture, almost as if the display is too close to the glass.

Awesome! Went to the AT&T store again, got a manager, they basically said "oh yeah well that's just how displays work, if you touch a TV screen with enough pressure it does that too". I told them I only have to lightly tap on the screen for it to warp, and they said because the phone just came out last week they haven't gotten enough feedback from people to know of any potential issues, and if my problem was impairing my use of the phone then they'd replace it, but because I can still use it they "can't replace it". He said he was going to email his HTC rep and see if my problem is a common issue, and let me know later today.
That is such bull****, they can't replace it because it hasn't been out long enough and it's only a cosmetic problem? I clearly showed them how it was different from the display models, and they still said oh its just too new to tell. Great.

Go to a different store, post on their forum, "tweet" at them, hit them on facebook.
Honestly, it seems like the social media people at AT&T do a lot better.
Worst case scenario? return the damn thing and take your money elsewhere.

I noticed that the lower part of the screen was not as flush as the top. I just went around the whole phone applying slight pressure and it appears to be flush now. Even before, the difference was negligible.
I saw your pictures too. To be honest, mine does the same but you have to apply some pressure. Same when pressure is applied to the screen.
The screens are VERY close and often adhered to the glass, so yes, pressing down will cause that.
I can replicate the very same thing you show in your pictures, but I do have to apply pressure. This amount of pressure I would NEVER apply in a day to day use.
Looking at your fingers, I can also tell you're applying similar pressure. (the tip of your nail has been pressed so far that the blood flow has been restricted, thus the faded, white hue under the tip of your nail)
I can only conclude that you're being anal about this issue.
If there is light leakage to the extent you have shown WITHOUT applying pressure, I can see why you'd want to exchange.
I just think you're nitpicking at an issue that doesn't exist.
I'm not saying that all phones are flawless or that this phone is flawless. But my hardware resembles what you have described, but I consider them as non issues because they're not really issues at all.
However, when it comes to software of this phone. There is a LOT of be desired, and I've only had the device a few hours.
HORRRRRRIBLE!!!! keyboard, just atrocious.
Weak wi-fi signal, I'm 20 ft from the router with no walls, WTF.
Random network disconnects
flawed multi-tasking
These are the issues you should be MORE worried about.

That's what I thought at first, too. I felt silly for going in there yesterday. But today, its gotten worse; I'm typing this on my phone right now and I can see the lower screen warping as I type. I agree with you, when I took those pictures last night I had to apply slight pressure in the corners to get that effect. However, now all it takes is a regular tap on the lower right quadrant of the screen to see the screen warp. For example, if I press and hold on my home screen (with a gray background) to pull up the wallpaper menu, the screen looks like it does in the third picture I posted. That's definitely not normal behavior.

Sorry I didn't mean to come off as an ass, but your issue MAY be legit, I'm not saying you're lying or anything . Just lots of people on the forums tend to make a mountain out of a mole.
here is my advice. You have 14 days to return the device. I say use it and see what happens. OFTEN times, because of rush to deliver, these phones go from the line into the box, then into the box and then a box....
Basically, let it air out, any glue used to adhere the screen to glass may still be curing.
I've read multiple cases where after a week, similar issues have disappeared.
14 satisfaction policy (30 in CA).... return it and go from there if you can't get anywhere with an exchange.

Does your 8X body creak/snap? See light where screen meets body/screen not flush?

Im wondering if other people's 8X's creak when squeezing the phone sideways or on the screen after a few minutes of use? Also I can see light leaking from the bottom where the screen meets the body of the phone. Want to know if I should get an exchange tomorrow at Microsoft Store since after that I'm pretty far from any Microsoft Stores until I'm past the return date.
My volume rocker squeaks a little and also moves back and fourth when I shake the phone. At the bottom of the phone on either side of the charging port there are light leaks, and on the left and right bottom sides too, which is annoying in the dark. Tempted to take mine back to Phones4u and ask for a new one..
Got a new phone and its much better. I didn't notice if light leaks through bottom anymore, but the screen is definitely more flush though not PERFECTLY flush.
Much more solid phone and power button also has a click and is easier to press now. No more creaks now.

I'll go and exchange mine then I think. Can you take a picture of it in the dark to show if you have any light leaks and post it up? I'd be very appreciative.
My power button feels a bit odd too, it doesn't have a click and feels squidgy, was thinking that earlier. Might have a go on the replacement in store and look at it in the dark to check for light leaks.
Edit: I've attached the best picture I could get of my light leaks/screen fitting. This is with brightness at max, taken with my DSLR. Was yours this bad? I'd be interested to see if this is an issue with other 8X's or just ours.
I haven't had any problems like that with mine yet. I started using a case after the first week though. Hopefully a replacement will fix the issue for you. That's a lot of light coming through.

It is, it's awful. I'm kind of regretting getting the 8X over the 920 to be honest, the blacks seem very light on the screen and the colour seem very washed out (maybe it's just coming from an AMOLED screen that is doing it), might see what they can do for me in store today. We'll see.
Took it back today, they didn't want to replace it but they did in the end. Tried out two brand new Yellow ones in store, both had the exact same issue. Tried a black one, and it's perfect, no light leakage at all. Maybe it's an issue with the Yellow one. Poor effort HTC.
Accepted the Black one as a replacement, but I'm trying to sell it and get a 920 like I should have in the beginning. Doh!

Meh. I have the black one and its an issue all right. Yesterday, my screen totally died. Went to HTC service center today, and the light leakage and inperfect screen flush were listed as "possible user damage". If they decide to classify it as user damage, i'll be pissed.

Yes, when I had mine it creaked and the camera lens moved around a little, and the screen was a tad squishy on the bottom right...HTC consistently has awesome designs but
There is always something wrong with their build quality that is maddening.

Crack over Speaker holes
Hi guys, just to add to the build quality problems... I've just had a replacement from Phones4U of my yellow 8X. After just under a month of gentle and careful ownership i noticed a crack appeared over (and through) the holes on the back for the speaker. The crack got bigger over about a week before i had chance to go ask about it in store. to be fair to P4U, the person i spoke to was great and they swapped it out in store, even though i'd originally bought it online.
Came back to this thread to mention it and now having read everything else i'm noticing a bit of creaking when i squeeze the sides and both phones had had the squishy screen edge picture thing which i first read about being a problem on the ONE X. Not sure if that's just normal anyway though really. Oh and neither of my power buttons have clicked and i find myself missing my easy to press home button on my old iPhone 3GS!
Same again!

Well after a month (again) my replacement 8X has developed the crack in the same place.
Phones 4U are gonna swap it for a black model this time, i'm wondering if it's the yellow plastic specifically that's bad. They were less cheery and helpful with the exchange this time stating that because it's a cosmetic fault they don't usually replace them and the first time was 'a goodwill gesture'.
I'm starting to wish i'd just gone for the extra price bump for the Lumia 920 instead now. Guess i'm lucky they've replaced them at all though but i still don't think a phone should crack of it's own free will after 4 weeks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/advanced/drive.png
They also said it's not a widespread fault that they've been made aware of, i was actually hoping someone else on here would have had the same experience to help me confirm it wasn't just bad luck or whatever. I guess everyone else just has the corners rubbing off instead!
I guess I got lucky, my blue 8X seems pretty solid and all the buttons are clicky.

Annoying yellow spot on display

Hi Guys,
New to this forum. I recently sold my one plus due to the exact reason but this was at the bottom of the display. Many have said that it would disappear over time but after 6 months, the yellow band was still haunting me. Gave up because of how infuriating it was and sold it. Got this beast, loving it but I noticed straight away at the top left of the display there was a yellow spot which spreads slightly to the centre. Im not familiar with the characteristics of certain displays as I am aware of the different kinds of displays these two devices use. Just wondering, would this problem disappear over time ?? I saw this post on this particular "fix" sites, which says that it will over time given the glue dispersion from heat and what not. BUT, im just afraid (skeptic here) it would end up like my one plus. Im trying to avoid going back to the reseller as this phone was purchased from a grey importer. Any input from any of you guys would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

a lot of people have yellow spots . the spots are mostly visible in 0% brightness and grey backround. Install dead pixel detect and fix and choose gray from the menu. if the result is not good contact with lg service center to change the screen.
you mentioned also oneplus. I also had oneplus before. it had 2 issues the first one was the led light bleeding and the yellow banding. the led bleeding is only visible down due to the position of led lights of the phone and cannot be fixed. the yellow band was due to the glue that didn't properly fixed. I personally had this issue but after some months It was fixed by the use of the phone. I also let it 2-3 times under direct sunlight for 20-25 minutes.

Pink tint on screen?

Does anyone have a pink tint to part of the screen? I know the Galaxy s6 had a bad problem with this. I'm hoping it's been solved in this generation.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/getting-replacement-s6-due-to-screen-t3074865
No pink tint on my S7, but the screen is not uniform. Bottom right corner is what it's supposed to be, with white background, but the upperpart has a yellowish tint to it.
Going crazy with these AMOLED screens, because last time I tried to buy a S3, I had to cancel my purchase after 3 units. They all had the same problem and I really tought, that Samsung could produce good screens after so many years, and because this isn't that much different with S6's screen
My Verizon S7 just starting displaying this problem. Bringing it back to Best Buy ASAP today.

Here is a shot of the problem (the 2 shots are the same I have just augmented contrast on the second one to clearly see the problem).

I'm quoting myself from another thread. Still an issue... I'm waiting for a replacement model right now and I hope the screen will be good.
Yep, I've got this issue. Pink tint at the bottom of the screen. The only negative of an otherwise faultless phone. I kind of wish it had an IPS LCD, seems these AMOLED screens are very inconsistent with colour. At the moment it's not TOO bad but I'd prefer a uniform display. Didn't have this issue with the S6.

They all had the same problem and I really tought, that Samsung could produce good screens after so many years, and because this isn't that much different with S6's screen

i have to exchange my amoled phones ALWAYS a few times (ordered my 5th S7 Edge today)!
i wrote a few threads regarding this, i also sent a message to displaymate (because they test "cherry-picked" devices, and do not mention this), see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/note4-amoled-screen-quality-t2906365
1st: display not good compared to second device
2nd: the device i use now. very good viewing angles and no tint, BUT: left side of display is darker then right side
3rd: display strong yellow tint
4th: display almost good, slight yellow tint. would take this, BUT: front cam takes blurry pictures compared to other devices...
5th: ordered today!
you may think i'm a hypocrite or have OCD, but it makes me mad that a 800EUR device has such flaws!!!

I absolutely agree with you guys. We are paying a significant amount of money and we expect it to be perfect.
Kudos for keep trying @TML1504. Hope you get a perfect one this time.
Are you buying this from a local store or a online seller? Because all local stores in my country will ask too much question if I approach them for replacement since it's a silly issue related to display, software, speaker, camera. Mostly likely it will end up in a pointless argument from their side and they consider the issue under warranty only. Speaking based on my earlier experiences.
Are the screen tint issues happening straight out of the box or do they develop over time?
Are you guys noticing it when the display it tilted or even in straight position?
I got a replacement unit yesterday, but had to wait almost 4 weeks for it. Didn't get a DOA replacement at the store, because the store manager didn't see the yellow tint. This new unit has slight pink tint on the top part of the screen. Gonna wait till thursday and decide if I'm gonna change this one. Probably not, because with my luck I have to change phones too many times, and the store manager doesn't want/or can't see the problem.
Maybe I'm gonna forget and get used to this screen, because it's little bit better than the first unit. Driving me crazy that Im so sensitive to this kind of things

Same issue here. Been speaking to Samsung's UK arm on Twitter and they say to take it into my local store (even though it was bought elsewhere). My worry is that I'll make the trip and be told there's nothing wrong.

so did you manage to get replacement ?
mine has slight (1mm) pink tint in the top.
I bought online and don't want to waste money on send+return postage just to get "there's nothing wrong with it"

galaxy s7 screen problem
same here i preordered a galaxy s7 and after 1 week of use i started noticing some color shiftiing when i'm in a dark room the auto brightnes turns the light down
and i start noticing ( especiallly in grey, grey dark and green dark cloros ) that the left side is brighter than the right side .
it's like a wave of light from the bottom left to the upper left of the screen this is really annoying when using a grey theme for example .
i compared to a galaxy note5 and s6 and they also have the same problem but in different parts of the screen.
i can't return it cuz the people in samsung want notice the problem. and they will tell me there's nathing wrong with it so i'll keep it until next year.
and by th way i had the same problem but it was pink on the right side whit my s6 last year and i changed the display twice under waranty, the third try i've got a farely good display.
maybe the next year i'll buy an iphone.

XZ Premium Screen Burn Issue

After about a year and a half of use my XZ Premium has burn marks on the right side of the screen (see link attached). Is this fixable without replacing the screen or does it have to be replaced?
https://imgur.com/a/e1LqXsq
Those are pressure marks. LCD's don't have burn. It could be from the battery or something else. Either way, you would need to replace LCD.
How much does it cost to replace the screen? I might consider buying a new phone instead if it will cost me too much.

Why would you replace it? If the screen works, i would keep using it. Save your cash until it dies completely
I also have one in the left upper corner near the sim card tray. It is common with these lines of Xperia, up until they changed to amoled. Usually it does not bother and it can bee seen only under black or dark colors or bright white. Keep in mind that in some cases it spreads and the screen looks really bad. A replacement ends up to about 100$. It does not worth it. Unless you really love the phone.

So far mine is only visible on bright images. I have been taking care of my phone and it just saddens me that this happened. I wasn't planning on switching anytime soon because recent Sony flagships don't really interest me to do an upgrade
I have this problem for about 4 weeks For me on the left side of the screen appeared It is quite visible I took care of this phone too :/ For now it works. I have Root, so probably nothing from the guarantee from T-Mobile
I see that it's quite a common issue. Does anyone know why this happens?
