[Q] HELP major issues after OxygenOS - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

(had rooted phone running cm12 nightly earlier) So i downloaded the oxygenos file yesterday, forgot to extract and directly went to TWRP, clicked wipe (ticked everything EXCEPT internal memory) then went to the .zip file of oxygenos and attempted to flash, Obviously that failed and as a result i had no OS. Did a fastboot thing and flashed cm12 back on (already had file on phone) then extracted oxygenos, went to TWRP and wiped all except internal then flashed and successfully rebooted.
Then, I even had to flash SuperSU for root again, a new version since the one on my phone was old i guess
Here's the thing now. I have all my apps up and running, but i cant find ANY of my photos, videos or music. At no point did i forget to untick internal memory.
WHAT CAN I DO??
(kinda Newb to this whole flashing and rooting thing, apologies)

It isn't the OS at fault, many people have flashed it without a single issue, sorry, but it's user error. Start from scratch by flashing the stock images, I have instructions in section 8 of my guide here:

Yes, that's all you need to do (as long as your bootloader is actually unlocked). It will reinstall CM11S and format your userdata so you can access it again.

[Help!] Urgent, Please help!

So, to cut the story short, My phone right now is unusable due to some ROM error trying to install some kernel, and the biggest mistake is, I removed my data via TWRP, I was doing this by midnight and did not realize that wiping data from TWRP means all your back ups is gone too and there is no data, no anything on the internal memory card, How can I restore my Moto G ? Please help I'm so panic I can't sleep
This phone I bought is not even close to 1 month, is this the end for me ?
I see there is a Mount OTG option from TWRP, Can I buy some OTG devices then put all the rom then plug in to my moto g?
No need, just install minimal adb and adb drivers for moto g,and go to mounts and storage, and mount sdcard, then just put a rom zip to your sdcard from pc.

Can you give me detailed instruction for this? I don't get the "go to mounts and storage" and the part afterwards
In twrp you have mounts and storage, just download a rom from internet,go to twrp, connect the device to pc,go to mounts and storage,or ADB or something(i dont know how its called in twrp, other users help) and put a rom that you downloaded in your phone, and then install it in twrp just like any other rom.

reflash
You can also reflash the stock rom again. This will probably fix it too
You will have to fastboot flash stock....

Sorry to say this, but you shouldn't have messed up with phone, unlocking bootlader, rooting, installing twrp if you have no idea how to restore your phone in case you mess up the things like this.
Seriously, don't do this again. Read about 180 to 360 days in the device section prior, gain some knowledge about it and then proceed. This will also save you lots of nerves, trust me.
clearing data via twrp doesn't wipe the internal storage...u must hav done something else.
anyways, in twrp go to advanced , select adb sideload.
start a command prompt and do adb sideload filename.zip
google for the elaborate steps.

D6616 boot loop after root / build.prop edit

Well, I've gotten myself into quite a pickle. Root was finally gained for the T-Mobile D6616 model over the weekend. The method works great and I had no trouble with it at all. I then installed Nut's Dual Recovery without any issue. Rebooted into TWRP multiple times over the next day or so and took a backup.
Next, I installed Xposed and started loading up all the modules I have missed since I got this phone. Everything was working great until.... I decided to edit the build.prop in order to silence the camera shutter sound. It's a pretty simple edit; I've done it a dozen times before:
Code:
ro.camera.sound.forced=0
For some reason that didn't look right to me. I thought I remembered the line being slightly different. But whatever, I threw it in there, saved it, and rebooted.
And now I'm stuck in a boot loop.
Even that is not usually a problem. My plan was to boot into TWRP, replace build.prop with the backup, reboot and be on my merry way. But.. Now my custom recovery seems to be gone. No idea why. When I boot into recovery, it seems to be stock and gives only the options: 1) continue powering up, 2) safe mode, 3) factory reset, 4) power off.
1) Powering up obviously doesn't work.
2) Safe mode doesn't work - boot loop continues
3) Tried factory reset. The little Android dude showed up, a progress bar worked on restoring to factory, and then.. still boot loop continues.
I have successfully gotten the phone to show up in adb ONCE since the boot loop appeared. I have no idea how I did it, and I haven't been able to replicate it. My plan was try to pull and edit the build.prop from adb if I can get it to show up again. But no joy so far.
Bootloader is still locked on this device, so no fastboot options.
So now I'm really at a loss for what to try next. Any ideas?

All xperia devices are supported by flashtool
You are talking about Sony's flashtool that only works with unlocked bootloaders
I am talking about the original flashtool developed here on XDA
Check flashtool.net

I see now. Looking into it, thanks.
I wish I could thank you more than once, gregbradley! Everything flashed and restored back to the way it was - except I lost internal storage. Bummer. Oh, well. Life goes on.
For anyone else who stumbles across this thread:
Use this thread to download the stock .ftf file for your particular Z3
Use the instructions here to download, install, and use Flashtool
Use these instructions to root (or re-root) and install TWRP recovery if you have the T-Mobile variant (D6616) Note: The link to recovery in that post is broken. You can find the latest version here: http://nut.xperia-files.com/ -- click on XZDualRecovery
If the root instructions seem to work but you don't see SuperSU after reboot, delete the contents of data/local/tmp and try again:
Code:
adb shell rm -R /data/local/tmp/*
So it' s not exactly the way it was.

That's a learning curve, always make a backup of everything you want to keep, or keep it on the external SD card.
But glad to hear you are back up and running.

Yeah, didn't anticipate this one. When I took the nandroid backup in TWRP, it didn't click that there was no "internal storage" option to back up - only system, data, trim area, boot, and cache. Must be different on other devices, because I know I've backed up internal storage in the past.
A lot, if not most, of what I had on internal storage is backed up on my desktop in various folders. So I'm not at a total loss.
And.. I hear you on using external. I always did use it for most things prior to getting this Z3. I have a 64gb sdcard and use it for nandroid and TB backups (and mp3s). I had to make the decision to go along with KitKat's insistence on using internal with no external write access for apps. Now that I have root, I patched it via FolderMount and might redo my symlinks for the Pictures folder, etc. We'll see.
Sigh.. Isn't Android fun?

Thought I was doing so well; tablet won't boot to OS

Hey folks; I'm hoping I can get some advice or pointers, or maybe just a slap upside the head with something I've missed.
I have one of the original Shield tablets, and played around with it quite a lot, installing various custom ROMs from the marvelous directions I've found here. When the battery thing happened, I submitted the required info and happily received my new tablet. The original was rooted and customised still, kill-switch averted, and I had two working tablets. I gave the new stock one to my wife.
But then, about three months ago, I was playing with mine again installing a newer ROM than the one I was using (I *think* I was going from an older Bliss rom to one of the Cyanogen), and ... Something Happened (tm). The tablet rebooted in the middle of everything, and now won't boot to an image.
I'm on Windows 10 now, and had some fun getting the drivers working, but they seem to. I can communicate with the tablet through Fastboot, but ADB doesn't see it. I've flashed several versions of TWRP to the tablet, and can boot into that recovery - both through Fastboot and the tablet's power+vol-dn buttons. I've used TWRP to flash several different ROMs, and it *appears* to work (there are no errors), but when I reboot the tablet .... nada. Nothing but the Nvidia boot screen for days.
So now... what have I missed? I'm a little reluctant to flash a stock ROM, but I'm at a loss. I used to have more time to fiddle and figure, and I'm afraid that my impatience is going to kill the thing.

Did you read about "recovery images" for shield tablet?
If fastboot is working you can flash the recovery image and all will update to the latest(blob, system, boot, etc)

after that use the nomoreota.zip to prevent the software brick from nvidida

No, I don't want it stock at all, I was just worried that was my only option to get this thing to respond again. I was running BlissPop v.somethingorother, but wanted to update. That's when things went awry.
Right, well it looks like I've got this thing going. I could flash TWRP 3.1.0-0, but not any 3.1.1. Cyanogenmod 12 worked. Reading up a little more (it got slow at work for a couple of days...) I flashed the firmware to 5.0, and could now install TWRP 3.1.1-1! Then I could install (in this case) Lineage 14.1, which *almost* worked. It booted, but there's no wifi.
Then I found a suggestion - I think it was on these forums somewhere - and restarted. Wiped all data again, flashed Cyanogenmod 12, no gapps. Restarted, checked everything including wifi, and is good. Rebooted back into recovery, performed a factory reset, then installed Lineage 14.1 and gapps. When it rebooted, everything is working!
So. Firmware. Huh.
Thanks all.

do not know if you need the bootloader(blob) from nougat to boot up, that lafester told you. but that sounds plausible. skooter says something from re-formating. so if you tried that all and nothing changes? cache and data partition you wiped also, so it has to be work for my understanding.

TWRP encryption problem

After i wanted to install Android P, i got a bootloop. so i wanted to go to twrp but now my files are encrypted and twrp is not asking for a pin or pattern so i can't decrypt my internal storage files.
Now the biggest problem is that i just came back from a family weekend and i made a lot of pictures, witch i can't acces now, and i really want them back.
Now i can't install a new os or anything ...
Can someone please help me! i'm really despirate
(sorry for my bad english)
Try downgrading twrp , night get it to ask for pin
downgrading is never the answer. In fact, that will cause this problem to happen. Now i must ask, are you temp booting twrp or is twrp installed to phone.
I got this when I temp booted the mtp enabled twrp the other day, although it still asked for my passcode and said description was successful. When I rebooted the installed (official) twrp it all came back....

Now i am booting from temp twrp, before that i got the latest twrp installed
Bringing this back up... Did booting from temp twrp work? Ran into the same issue.
Temp boot and use the usb c to pull ur data from the device to a computer. After that you can wipe and start over. Unbricking guide available in the help section
Having the same issue. If I boot using fastboot TWRP I'm able to decrypt data. I did that and flashed stock OOS and the same TWRP version (BluSpark) that was used in the fastboot. But the folders are still encrypted. It's weird how a fastboot can decrypt it but a regular recovery boot can't. Is there any alternatives available?
I'm in the process of backing up my data before I officially bite the bullet.

No OS installed in TWRP

Hi guys
I was trying some of custom rom on my OP6 and I wanted to go back to Oxygen OS. So i did a clean installation with system wipe and i flashed the last full OTA update. But since i can't boot to system anymore, TWRP always displays that there is no OS installed despite the fact that I've tried several rom . Is this the first time it's done this to me how can I fix it?

The best suggestion I can give you is to flash stock oos with TWRP, reboot to stock recovery, without flashing anything else, wipe data from stock recovery and startup system.. if it is working you can flash back TWRP and magisk if you need it
Just be careful because at your point is easy to lose all of your stored data

If you wipe system, then flash oos ROM, TWRP will think there is no os. You can just ignore and boot.
Wiping system then flashing any time will make twrp display "no os installed" it does this because it hasn't created files for twrp to check if you have a ton installed. Flashing twrp then rebooting to twrp fixes it.
Reboot to stock recovery?

Hi, need a little bit of support, since I'm new to this as well. I was in a working OOS open beta 25/28, but then I think I flashed the wrong zip (OOS 9.0.9?), and I was not able to boot to system. It kept going to "bootloader unlocked" screen and custom recovery. Currently in TWRP blu_spark 3.3.1-x v. 9.109, and it's showing me no OS installed when I attempt to reboot. I haven't rebooted to system yet.
All the folders in my /sdcard is gibberish... if I try to push a file to it, it says "Required key not available." I did remove all security/passwords from my phone before doing any updates/backups.
I completed a wipe cache/dalvik/system via TWRP, and flashed the OOS OTA stable Android 10 zip downloaded directly from OnePlus Support. Considering this situation, do you still think it's safe for me to reboot to system? Then how do I get to stock recovery from there--is that by holding down the buttons?

Considering this situation, do you still think it's safe for me to reboot to system? Then how do I get to stock recovery from there--is that by holding down the buttons?

No, your internal storage Is like trash cause the last rom you flashed has older security patch than oos10. Your device Is now encrypted and wont boot to system. I Guess you have to erase all via MSN tool or fastboot signed rom. Even if you wiped what mentioned above, your problem still be the data.
Fastboot method?

Thank you for replying. I'm relieved that you know of a couple methods to try.
Is using "Format Data" in TWRP an option for dealing with the encryption??
For the MSN tool, can I use this one? Tried looking around, but it's unclear. "[TOOL] MsmDownloadTool V4.0 International (Oxygen OS 5.1.5)" https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...wnloadtool-v4-0-international-t3798892/page10
I would be more comfortable with using fastboot, but am I at any risk of having lost fastboot, or can I just turn off my device from TWRP right now and hold down the buttons to get there? Afraid to move out of TWRP right now, in case I can't get back. I do have twrp-3.3.1-18-enchilada-Q-mauronofrio.img that I can run from fastboot if needed.
By "signed rom," do you mean I can simply flash one of the zips here from fastboot? "[OnePlus 6][ROM][OTA][Oxygen OS] Mirrors for official Oxygen OS ROMs and OTA updates" https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/oneplus-6-mirrors-official-oxygen-os-t3792244
Thanks again.

I hardbricked my device about 10 times and i was able to recovery It even from a blank screen. Btw format data Will erase all your data but also the internal storage. About fastboot dont be afraid, go under twrp reboot section and reboot to bootloader. Then go under xda op6 guide section and search for mirrors for fastboot rom guide by Mauronofrio. He pushed my ass out the **** a lot of time.
P.s. Sorry but I dunno how to paste a link via xda app. Yes, ik! It's a vert newbie thing.

That's awesome, I'm starting to grasp how much of a genius Mauronofrio is, after so many people referencing his work.
In his guide, he says, "These ROMs can't be used to update or downgrade your phone but just to restore your phone, so don't use them to come back to oreo or to update from oreo to pie." This may be a dumb question, but how do I know which zip/OOS version to flash, when I don't have a functioning OS on my phone?

I talked with Mauronofrio in pm and he said me that you could solve your issue simply flash the ROM you want and format data after flash that one. Remember that your internal will be wiped but it would happen in any scenario we talked.
Magisk, boot img?

That worked! And starstruck that you were able to check that with him. I flashed Mauronofrio's fastboot ROM for 10.3.2 and it rebooted (WOW). I clicked through the Google setup pages and checked that my data and wifi worked.
I then went back into fastboot, booted M's twrp img, fomatted data, and then installed twrp-3.3.1-x_blu_spark_v9.109_op6.zip, rebooted into recovery.
Then I think I made a mistake, because I installed Magisk-v20.4.zip. It succeeded, but now I can't boot into system anymore. Is it too late to flash the 10.3.2 boot.img?

I ended up following the guide to Magisk Root without TWRP for OnePlus 6 Oxygen OS https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/patched-boot-image-magisk-16-7-beta-t3818853 since it was referenced by Mauronofrio's post for having issues getting his TWRP to work with latest Magisk.
Someone posted a patched boot.img for 10.3.2, so now I'm rooted without TWRP. Priorities. Now all I need is for special characters and emojis to work Will keep an eye on other threads.
I'm learning a lot, thanks so much for all your help. You pointed me in the right direction when I was not sure what the hell to do!
