Hi all ive got a Moto G XT1032 from England (i assume its Non-GPE) and i unlocked and rooted it with TWRP 2.6.3.1
i flashed an unofficial moto g CM11 rom that didnt quite work(boot loop), i went to wipe my internal data, and went ahead and formatted data by accident (forgetting the difference between the two!) Now im left with no internal data (all roms/gapps etc wiped) and as the new CM11 rom didnt work i cant boot up to enable USB debugging so i dont know how i can copy a new rom over to fix this problem :S i can only really reach the bootloader and recovery...
Any help would be very appreciated thanks!

Jose

Dont know if im gonna be much of a help here, but try this.
You say you can load the recovery. Now connect the USB to the phone and go to recovery. I think somewhere there in the recovery you have an option like 'Mount and Storage' or something like that. Get into the option and select the relevant one. Once you select, i guess the computer will automatically load the drive and then you can copy the files into your Moto. Give it a try and let know if it helped!
absolutely certain all the moto g's sold in europe are GPE editions...
i tried flashing faux123's kernel which gave me bootloop, on restoring the GPE boot.img phone worked fine again (i'm in uk too btw).

What the hell? Where did you read that all moto g's sold in europe are GPE editions. You can only get a GPE device officialy from Google. Period. What's the reason for you to be "absolutely certain"???

read it on here somewhere. absolutely certain probably a poor choice of words, tho.
anyway, what you've said isn't true, as i bought mine off amazon, and it's GPE.

it doesn't actually say it's GPE, but it came without any of the moto software on there, such as Motorola's custom camera and "Assist" apps, which as far as i'm aware is basically the only 'noticeable' difference bar the storage format.

I'm dubious, for these reasons, based on the item you linked.
1) Advanced Android now upgradable to Android 4.4 (Kit Kat)
[GPE is sold with KitKat as standard OS].
Did you need to upgrade, or did you have KK out of the box??
According to the Amazon link you posted, these are included.......and the Camera sounds very much like the Moto Camera??
What is your Boot animation....is it stock Kitkat, and not Motorola Seasons??
Do you have these??
GPE doesn't........
2) Motorola Migrate
You don’t have to lose your stuff when you buy Moto G. Just move your photos, videos, SIM contacts and even your call and text history from your old Android phone in just a few steps. No wires needed.
3) Motorola Assist
Moto G recognises when you shouldn’t be bothered, like when you’re sleeping or in a meeting. After hours, it only lets important calls through. You can set actions and exceptions so they work exactly how you want them to.
4) Moto Care
Get the most out of your device with Moto Care. Whether you want to read up on FAQS, talk to other users, or reach our support team directly through the Moto Care app, you can get the exact support you need. Additionally, our advanced support feature helps you find your phone. Visit motorola.com/support to learn more.
5) FM Radio
There’s music in the world and tons of it is still free. Just tune in with Moto G’s FM radio. Listen to your favourite stations or pick up a new signal. It’s all yours to explore.
Not saying you are telling fibs, but I doubt that they would advertise a GPE phone and not mention that fact even once!!

it came with KK, has the stock boot animation and stock camera.
as said before, it didn't have any of the motorola stuff on it. so yes, i'm pretty ****ing sure it's the GPE edition phone.
and funnily enough, that was the thing i read just after buying the phone.
as for them selling it and not mentioning it, maybe they bought a load of them and converted them to GPE's? maybe they stole them off the back of a lorry... i honestly can't tell you because i'm not the seller, i'm just a consumer.
OK, sounds cool...

Hi guys, thanks for the replies, i eventually sussed out an idea, i mounted the data partition and forced it to backup the current bootlooping CM11 rom i had on. i then reinstalled the rom and it booted! or rather, it booted to a black screen lol, either way i was able to copy over, through windows via USB, the Paranoid android Beta 6 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2614690&highlight=mobile+network) and Gapps and now it all works.
However, i have a new question. Ive found my mobile data doesnt work at all but everything else does. Ive tried adding the official moto g Virgin media APN ( http://virgin.tmtx.co.uk/faqs/item/?...et_and_picture ) and that didnt fix it and i am still in credit. I also looked in "About phone > Status" and my phone number is "Unknown" and my Mobile network state is "Disconnected" if that helps?
does anyone know a fix to help get the mobile internet working again?

It has Motorola sw like camera, moto care, motorola migration, ...
Unfortunately, it doesn't has support for SIP, so I will change to GPE looking for it.

You Need APN info (Your link doesn't work) it may be KK apn or JB apn you need.
If You post what you have, that is not working, I can help you change it
I followed instructions to flash my one m using roms here, through trial and error i found a couple that worked but i ended up just going with cyanogenmod because it was familiar. when i booted it up i had an issue with my camera and micro sd, it said i didn't have storage/sd and the camera would fc, the gallery as well. the file manager seemed to access everything just fine though. i tried second party cameras/galleries to the same effect. so w/e my phone worked it didn't bug me too much at first...
then i noticed there were updates for the rom so i flashed the latest one and suddenly i needed to unlock my sim. that had been referenced in a thread here so based on that thread i entered 12345678 and wham it locked. i tried flashing a kitkat rom and the the stock blu one m rom here and neither helped. i took it to my metro store and they said i needed a new sim so i bought one and no dice. it won't even let me access the sim settings. it also doesn't show my imei anywhere in the phone info anymore.
i'm not really sure what to do at this point. i made a few backups at one point but i think i accidentally deleted them because i am super smart....
Hi xdadevelopers,
I ordered a Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE (xt897c) phone from FreedomPop for $25 and 28 days later it has arrived. My experience with FreedomPop has been decidedly mixed. Lots of hassle from customer service combined with a product that is sometimes very useful and always cheap. (Unless you use over 2GB of data per month) The phone itself seems very adequate for an excellent price. I would like your assistance in putting Cyanogenmod or another appropriate ROM on it.
Here's where I am,
The phone appears to have been rooted out of the box according to "Root Checker Basic" from Google Play
I installed "Superuser" from Google Play and that seems to work correctly
Busybox seems to be present already according to "Online Nandroid" from Google Play
I have created a TWRP Backup using Online Nandroid without modifying the recovery
The phone currently has Android 4.1.2
Where I want to be
I want to install a custom recovery, preferably one I can make backups from
I want to update to a more recent version of Android such as the stable one found here DUCK RULES cyanogenmod bot org /?device=xt897c or another version where everything just works
Notes. I have ADB and Fastboot installed from "Android Studio". I have an appropriate USB cable. I do not have a microsdhc card right now. It appears "Sandisk 64GB Extreme Micro SD (SDXC) Card + Adapter 60MB/s Class 10 U3 UHS-1" at DUCK RULES amazon bot com /gp/product/B00N98QLRQ is a good choice for a good price. I have this on order and should have it within the week.
I understand this phone has a locked bootloader. The "Messaging" app from FreedomPop available in Google Play seems to control messaging and the phone dialer. I went to the official Motorola Bootloader unlock page DUCK RULES motorola-global-portal bot custhelp bot com /cc/cas/sso/redirect/standalone%2Fbootloader%2Funlock-your-device-b I booted into recover with Power and volume up and volume down held, selected fastboot, connected to the computer , ran fastboot, as described, got the code, put the code in the webpage as described, and got a blank page. This happened 2x, with no emails form Motorola. I tried a third time 6 hours later, and it loaded a page with more instructions and I had the bootloader unlock code in my email instantly (There were no preceding messages, they didn't go to spam or somewhere else). I have installed TWRP Manager by Jmz software from Google Play. The standard reboot method doesn't work I changed the settings to "Reboot using an alternate method". I attempted to the TWRP recovery with the "Install TWRP". One must select their device and the closest thing to mine was "Motorola Photon 4G" codename "sunfire". This didn't appear to be it exactly but there wasn't a better choice. The next line down says "custom recovery not installed or detected". Then I selected the recovery version to install "2.6.3.0" "openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.0-sunfire.img appeared the most recent, then I attempted to "Install Recovery" The phone downloaded the image, and said "Ensure the partition listed below is the correct one for your device..." "/dev/block/mmcblk0p10" how do I know if that's correct or not? I said yes to the question and went ahead, the phone rebooted to an Android on it's side with a yellow triangular sign with an exclamation point above it. Thirty seconds later the phone rebooted normally and everything worked no custom recovery was flashed.
Also thanks to the xdadevelopers community for your past and future efforts. I threw in my lot with Android when the neXus One launched after watching the keynote, buying it full price and paying extra for next day air shipping. I stayed stock despite the cool stuff being done by the development community until Google fell behind in updates. Then I started with CM6 and later went to CM7. That was wonderful software, thanks everyone who was involved in that. Unfortunately way late in the life of my phone I was homeless and got robbed for it. I got a used HTC HD7 Windows Phone for free from a friend. It was great for movies and music with a great screen and touch sensor but it was very early in the life of the new Windows Phone and there wasn't a lot of quality software being developed. That, and it just wasn't Android, and I longed for freedom. The integrated Web browser IE 9 variant sucked, and T-mobile denied me the final Windows Phone 7 update. The phone has gotten less and less useful as time went by though it always sucked for web browsing. This fall I got a One Plus One, it made a wonderful Wifi phablet, but when I tried to use it as a phone I found the radio was severely deficient in range, possibly due to defective manufacture as it got better range in colder weather. I had to initiate a chargeback with my credit card company to get support to talk to me and then ultimately get a refund. That's how I got where I am now and this is the first time I've needed to register for an account here. Thanks again xdadevelopers.
What is the best way to proceed? Semi detailed logical instructions please, as while I am intelligent and not a noob, I have been out of the game since CM7

Why would you flash something that is OBVIOUSLY not for your device!? I sincerely hope it did nothing because you could do some permanent damage to your device by flashing stuff that's not made for it.
Did you bother looking for any recovery threads? Say my TWRP thread?
I recommend 2.7.1.2 in that thread, which is fine for CM11. If you want CM12, grab 2.8.5.0 in that thread.
Flash it per my directions using fastboot in my TWRP thread.
Got it thanks, now which rom?
Thank you very much arrrghhh. First off I sucessfully flashed TWRP 2.7.1.2. I did see the "[recovery] TWRP 2.7.1.2" thread, but it was from 2012 and it's 2015 now, plus it was 25 pages. Now I do see that the initial post was last edited 23rd July 2014, so that's better, but that's still over six months ago, so I'd have asked the question anyway having seen that. Several things to note, GooManager has been retired since the new cdn for goo.im was implemented, so that should be removed from the post. I like apps, they make me feel like there's less risk in my actions, though after some poking around I see it's probably the opposite. People are doing so much more low level stuff in apps compared to CM7 it's amazing.

It would be nice to see that info in the 2.7.1.2 thread. that the newer version is recommended for CM12 and where to get it, that would show you're on top of the latest changes not to mention make the thread even more useful. Perhaps include the reason for stopping at 2.7.1.2, the SELinux split. Seeing a new version that works always makes me want to get the newer version, but in this case there's a good reason not too.
I'm always hated vague it's broken posts that don't adequately describe the problem, the hardware used and the environment, so I head in the opposite direction with mine.
Next question is which rom should I choose? I want something stable and secure with everything or just about everything working. I like Cyanogen Mod, but I'm open to other things. As new as I can get, but stable. I thought I needed something from download bod cyanogenmod bot org /?device=xt897c , but now looking around it looks like I might be able to use other sources like download bot cyanogenmod bot org /?device=xt897 I'm not sure though. Again I have the Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE which is CDMA, from FreedomPop running on the Sprint Network.

I no longer use this as my primary device, so my threads are basically stagnant. fastboot always works, where apps come and go... I'll try to find some time to adjust the post.

Reason for stopping at 2.7.1.2 was they implemented MTP in 2.8.x, and I could never get it working right for both Win & Lin. I spose my bar was too high and I should've just released it, but I hate releasing half working stuff. It was a new feature that didn't work right.
Again, this is no longer my primary device so I'm not working on it very much at all. I have to pry the thing from my roommate's hands to even play with it, I haven't flashed CM12 yet (because it's no longer my device really).
I'd like to update the official TWRP, but in the meantime the CM maintainer has taken care of updating it so F2FS can be utilized.

Well obviously some of that does go down to choice - if you want CM, it is a little confusing. The device started out in CM10 as its own device, xt897 for GSM xt897c for CDMA. Then in CM11 they merged the devices into moto_msm8960. Of course they had to split again when the new bootloaders were released for the other moto_msm8960's (Razr HD, Atrix HD, etc) and moto_msm8960_jbbl was kind of a stopgap device at the end of CM11. Again, reading is your friend here although I realize all of that history is hard to glean. At least read the OP of the CM thread:
kabaldan said:
Please note:
In CM12, the Motorola 2012 msm8960 device line has been de-unified again, so moto_msm8960/moto_msm8960_jbbl builds are dead from now on.
Please check the xt897 device link for new Photon Q builds.

Good luck. The device is now semi-unified (GSM & CDMA), as xt897.

You don't update PRL/Profile in CM, you do that on the stock ROM. Make sure EVERYTHING works on stock before flashing CM.
I found another APN fix and it worked.
So the result of the update PRL/Profile is stored somewhere in the phone and does not get lost when I flash a new ROM, is that correct?
The only way to update PRL/Profile is to flash back to stock, do update, reflash back to custom, right?

Can you share this "another APN fix"?
already shared here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60153295&postcount=18
Anyone still have issues? I was running a June Nightly and it was working somewhat. It would randomly lose connection and I would have to flash the APN.zip. It happened again a few days ago and I decided to go up to 722 Nightly and now I haven't been able to connect. When I go to APNs the list is empty and even if I manually add one it does not seem to stick. The APN zip doesn't help either. The phone is connected but shows an exclamation mark next to the signal and I have no data.
Sort of solved my own problem
Flashed back to stock Spring using RSD lite and a modified XML that didn't flash the system.img since it kept giving me errors. Found a stock TWRP dump on the forums and flashed that. Updated PRL and Profile, reflahsed back to CM11 Snapshot and flashed the 2015 FreedomPOP APN fix. Working for 1 day now.
Hello all,
tl;dr: Location-UK. Rooted MotoG and installed CM11, found that the mobile network connectivity is gone. Flashed EU spec stock 5.0.2, still no luck. Status says Radio is off. What can I do to salvage it? (Still shows the correct IMEI).
Long story:
- I had a terribly slow, practically unusable (GB Retail spec) Moto G running on 5.0. So I decided to roll back to 4.4.
- Unlocked the bootloader successfully, but couldn't root it following the easy procedures listed widely everywhere. In the process, somehow rendered the 'sdcard' storage read-only.
- Rooted successfully using another method specifically written for Lollipop MotoG. A restart after that made the 'sdcard' read-write again.
- Installed TWRP from Playstore and tried backing up the ROM, but after backing up, the phone went into a boot-loop.
- Tried flashing a US Retail spec 4.4 to get out of the boot-loop, didn't work.
- Flashed TWRP via fastboot, pushed CM11 with adb and flashed. Finally it worked!
- But, no network. If I search manually for networks, it throws up an error. Sometimes even the Networks option was grayed out.
- Tried flashing the GB spec radio zip, no change.
- Wiped it all, tried flashing stock 4.4.4 GB retail ROM, it failed for some reason. No idea why.
- Wiped it again, flashed EU retail spec 5.0, it flashed fine, but still no mobile network. Tried with multiple SIMs, and tried reflashing CM11 and 5.0 multiple times; no luck.
- IMEI number is not reset to '0', still shows the correct IMEI, verified it against the battery cover.
Please advise. I would be much grateful! Thank you all in advance.
It's possibly Bootloader corruption - /userdata becoming read-only being a symptom. Bootloader and Kernel are inter-related, and Kernel plays a role in how Radio functions on many newer Android devices.
Flashing another motoboot.img does not appear to resolve this, however the 'Hard Unbrick' method might - once it supports Lollipop Bootloader.
Related: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-to-revive-hard-bricked-moto-g-t2833798
EDIT: It might be worth trying custom ROMs other than those based on CyanogenMOD - with possibly differing implementations of RIL/Radio Interface Layer.

Flashing another motoboot.img does not appear to resolve this, however the 'Hard Unbrick' method might - once it supports Lollipop Bootloader.

EDIT: It might be worth trying custom ROMs other than those based on CyanogenMOD - with possibly differing implementations of RIL/Radio Interface Layer.

Thanks for the advice. Do you have any specific ROMs in mind? I tried the stock 5.0.2 back, as mentioned in my OP, but that didn't help. Also tried BissPop ROM to no avail, but that's based on CM12, so that might be the reason. I have just downloaded an Unofficial AOKP ROM. Is that a non-CM one that you have in mind?
I also flashed the UK radio zip multiple times, no luck again. Everything else is working just fine.

I was thinking of some of SlimSaber, or Dirty Unicorns.
Tried both SlimSaber and DirtyUnicorns and didn't work. Finally, used this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219) to reflash to stock 4.4.4 and everything is working fine now. Hurray!
Thanks for all the suggestions and help!
I am currently facing a very weird(to me at-least) problem that seems to be exclusive to me, since I cant find similar posts on any forums.
The network of both the sim cards on my phone are continuously being reset- as if I was continuously enabling and disabling airplane mode, but the Wi-Fi, bluetooth and everything else is fine.
I'm using a network carrier called Jio, and have been getting horrible speeds for quite some time now. Today I noticed that whenever I was connected to someone on a call, my internet speeds were exponentially higher(2 mbps - 12 mbps), which seemed strange and after a little research, was revealed to be the cause of my LTE band being locked on band 3 whenever I was on a call.
So I started looking for a way to make that band lock permanent, in hopes of getting good speeds. I found about these two tools called QPST and QXDM which are supposedly have very broad uses like resetting IMEI etc, which I have no knowledge of how to do.
I was stupid enough to not properly read any documentation or proper guides of how these tools are used. I just saw in some articles and videos that QXDM can also be used to directly change the value of the variable that holds the code of what 4g band is being used, so I tried changing that.
Here's the steps I performed:
Looked for and installed the correct Qualcomm diagnostic mode drivers for my phone(adb and fastboot were already installed).
enabled DM using adb.( su -> setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb in an adb shell)
Started QPST and QXDM in that order.
Selected the LTE values in NV Browser of QXDM and tried to modify those to the codes corresponding to the band I wanted to lock to(band 5 that has code 16).
I read the default value, copied it, then wrote required value and clicked on "Write" which failed giving the error : "DIAG error received: Invalid Command Error Response"
After this the aforementioned problem started, and I tried restarting the phone first, which sent it into a bootloop.
I fixed the bootloop by clean flashing my current rom(without formatting the storage).
But the problem is still there.
I was using an app to monitor what band is currently being used. Even the app is not working anymore, it says that drivers are not properly installed.
I am also unable to access any network related settings in my rom settings.
My RN7 is a violet.
I am currently on Pixel Experience 10, latest build.
With the latest miui firmware installed.
Orange fox recovery.
I guess I shouldn't have messed with things I have no idea about, specially without proper research, but I am really clueless now about what might be causing the problem and how, if at all, I could fix it, I thought of a complete re-flash of stock MIUI using mi flash tool, but not sure if it would help or not.
Any help will be much appreciated!
First of all, you shouldn't have used these tools if root was available as there is an app called Network Signal Guru. Now this app requires root and u can easily lock any of the band you want.
Now if you are facing any problem i recommend a clean install of fastboot rom. With formatting data and storage so none of the problem remains. I guess there is a problem being faced by many though i didn't checked myself about sensors not working on stock rom after pixel exp. Rom but some says flashing miui10 via mi flash and then updating it to miui11 via recovery the sensors strt working.
You need to check for that but if you want to go back to pixel rom then its fine.
To lock bands remember to use this app. It works fine.
Moreover flashing the rom may remove the problem you were facing of signal but i guess it was only due to phone changing bands.
Network signal guru doesn't work with Custom Roms.

Thanks for the reply, though I agree I shouldn't have tried using things that I don't fully understand.
I did use the app that you mentioned and it did not work, after which I tried this method.
I just clean flashed the miui11 through fastboot using mi Flash tool and it's fixed now, thanks!
Redmi note 7 pro mobile data dropping
Hello,
Sorry for introducing a new issue(as a new and inexperienced member hoping for solution) related to the mobile data problems on redmi note 7 pro.
I have the phone since a month and the network data was working perfectly fine and since several days the internet via mobile data drops every 5 minutes. I have to reboot the phone or turn off/on mobile data several times.
I contacted my internet provider and all is correct from their side and they even gave me a new sim card that i tested on my galaxy m20 and it works fine.
I was looking for solutions on forums but it didn't help and i turn around here hoping to find solutions on my issue.
Thanks
