Yes, Android support English(you can use settings to change into English), but Default Windows 8.1 with Bing can't do this, you have to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro for adding additional language.

I have same tablet and I found same problem. It comes with only chinese single language version 8.1 and there no way to install english or other language.
I tried one tutorial using command line but now my tablet cannot start correctly and it show error and ask for recovering.
Someone can help with an easy way to delete chinese and add different language?
Thanks

Open Control Panel, then use "Add Windows 8.1 Features", input your Windows 8/8.1 Professional License key and click next, after restart several times, you should be able to install other language.

Just ordered mine on Banggood
Is there a way to remove or reduce Android partition?
Edit 05/22/2015 : Just received my X16HD 3G 64GB.
After crashing my Android rom (inconsistent UID or something like this) after trying to remove chinese apps after root, I reflashed the Android rom from files from dl.dbank.com/c0zzh1czvt
Above link concerns X16HD 3G (M5J4) while mine is X16HD 3G (M5J5). Don't know the difference.
Is there another owner of the X16HD tablet? I'm so lonely

Keyboard features limited in Android mode
Just wondering if there's a shift key feature to enable typing in all the symbols when the docking keyboard is attached... the only symbol I can use are all the lower case keys. Important symbols like exclmation mark and 'at', hashtag, dollar sign can't be activated, and I have to detach it, to enable the keyboard so I can press it, and some app actually will auto refreshed the screen upon docking and removing, and it removes whatever thing I previously typed into any fields. Very unproductive..... anyway, I am also looking forward to a English version of the windows... hope some god appear to save us 'exlaimation marks x 3'
anyway, i also realised that the x16hd have a design issue... do not put it in squeezy area, as the back of the tablet sinks in easily, causing the front glass to stick to the LCD, causing a stick mark... i manage to bend it back by applying a force onto the screen directly, praying that it won't break... slowly, it was bent back, and it unsticked itself, but with little pressure like pressing it onto my shirt to cleaning it, will easily cause it to bend back... just take note and don't let this happen. cover doesn't help. it bends too easily

Where i can find product key?

How did u reflash the rom? I have managed to stuff my UI on android after root

Teclast X16HD Original ROM and Installations (in English-ish) here
Hi All,
I've bought this tablet, it's good but of course it comes with an all-chinese manual and no support etc. So if you're like me and start deleting partitions without really knowing what you're doing and trust your luck, you might need a full reinstall one day and unless you speak chinese, you're out of luck
So I took the time and researched the teclast website, downloaded the How-To manual, translated it into English (Google translate so don't expect A-Grade sentences) and made a doc out of it.
The document with detailed how-to and screenshots is attached down here (DOC inside the ZIP). It's the exact translation from the Chinese one from the manufacturer, so don't blame me if something doesn't work
The actual link to download the ROM: dl.vmall.com/c0zzh1czvt - click the folder and download the files one by one (don't fall for those chrome extensions and stuff, nobody needs them).
+Edit: remove all the chinese characters from all the folder names after you dl&extract .
Cheers, hope I could help anyone.

Thanks, I did the same.
Flashed both systems 5-6 times (from a Windows 7 computer. The Intel Android Device USB Drivers v1.5 works well on Win7 but failed to install on Win8.1. Drivers v1.9 installed correctly on Win8.1 but the tablet isn't recognized).
Toolbox from Teclast X98 worked well to root Android from X16HD.
Pay attention, don't uninstall (with Titanium Backup for example) the apps :
- "Game Center",
- tUI (the original Launcher)
- Update
or you'll have to reflash Android system because it won't boot anymore.
Game Center can be disabled, but the option is disabled for tUI and Update.
I installed Nova Launcher and hide these apps from its customization menu.
Installed all the Google apps from Play Store.
All (Inbox, Gmail, Calendar...) works well except Contacts : I can't synchronize with my Google contacts book.
How about you?

Hi guys, I just hit this thread because I was researching how people are going with the Teclast X16HD 3G as it looks like an interesting tablet. I just got the Teclast X98 Air 3G tablet 5 days ago from OKQI and it seems all fine, zero lockups or anything unpleasant like that but I am interested in what else is out there as well now. This has been my first tablet away from Apple.
While the windows 8.1 is quite flashy looking I think I will stick to Android, although I am surprised/disappointed how crappy Chrome looks on it compared to Chrome in Windows 8.1
The main interest for me with the Teclast X16HD 3G 10.6 was the larger screen. as its 10.6 inches.
I noticed a few posts on here complaining they can't get English going in Windows with Bing on it with a *fully activated* installation and I remember reading a while ago this article below.
It basically says that Microsoft deliberately disables the ability to have English on Windows 8.1 with Bing with a fully activated key on tablets bigger then 10.1" inch in size. Well thats the way I understand it anyway.
"Microsoft Windows 8.1 with Bing" is a very specific version of windows aimed at holding ground against Android OS in the tablet wars, is another way of putting it.
Google "Windows 8.1 with Bing licensing model explained, essentially free for some tablets" But not if their too big..
http://www.winbeta.org/news/windows-81-bing-licensing-model-explained-essentially-free-some-tablets
These cheaper MS Windows licences have been aimed at the cheaper tablet market against Android (and also Chinese market in general)
So yeah as far as I see it the Teclast X16HD 3G 10.6 is "0.5" inches too big and I guess Windows 8.1 very well knows that too.

Mine from Banggood was delivered with english installed.
No idea how they did. After reflashing windows partition, no way to change back to english from chinese.
Hopefully I have a spare Win8.1 licence.
I'm testing Win10 technical preview. For now, all is working perfectly.

IE11 is preinstalled with Windows8.1, no additional action is required. Just update it via Windows Update. But if you are using thirdparty browser(e.g. Firefox/Chrome), you need to install standalone Adobe Flash Player Plugin.

Novo 7 Basic

I bought the Novo 7 basic for my dad at Christmas. I have been reading up on it to see if it is possible to get full android market and to update it to ICS.
1. Are the above two possible with the basic?
2.Was too afraid to go messing with it as I read that advanced files and basic files are different and il brick it using the advanced files on the basic.
If anyone could help me with with putting ICS on this and getting full Android market I would be very grateful.
Thanks you
The novo 7 basic didnt come with ICS? Weird, they advertise it as the first tablet with android 4.0. It is possible to get the full android market on it. Simply download the latest market apk from the forums here, just search for it or use Google, mount the tablet's SD card, drop the market apk onto SD, and install it using the native package installer.

hey,
i have the basic tablet as well.

if you need help with this unit just pm me.
i have ics 4.0 running and i have also rooted and have recompiled apps for this as well. market is working on ics too.

Novo 7 paladin is the one with ICS, not basic version, they just advertised it is ICS compatible, AFAIK basic version comes with honeycomb only. Just talked with Ainol last week, the official ICS package is not released yet.

Root method #1 - http://115.com/file/cl3ugmva - just run and click root.

MassStorageModeDriver - http://www.mediafire.com/?09xujtqi4g3wwd9 - This is needed for windows while the tablet is in Usb Debugging mode. recompiled APK's for MIPS ICS - http://www.mediafire.com/?pe5fjt1o75xf771 - Skype, YouTube and TitaniumBackup all recompiled for Mips.
MagicCode - http://www.mediafire.com/?xa5p2skdma6m66b - exactly what it says. this magically on the fly allows you to run APK's written in ARM to work in MIPs. this only works with HC 3.2 NOT ICS.
to use simply install the apk and open the app and click on then install or run any APK as normal.
they released it on the 21st of December.
i have been running ics since the 23rd.
this is not a final version but this is the version they are shipping with now on all shipments.
i been screwing around the loops with this tablet for a while so here are some files you may find handy.
some warnings DO NOT go to the youtube website. if you click on any video it can crash your tablet. instead use the recompiled youtube app above. it works fine.
I just wish more devs start putting more attention intro mips, especially the chainfire3d dev who is here
the support will come4. just be patient.
mips is the cheaper and as shown looks to be very competitive on power usage.
i get 8 hours out of this tab which is awesome and it performance is right on par with the a8 arm cpu's as well.
Hello,
is that update compatible with novo 7 Paladin ? May i use the updates for basic version for paladin or ?
Thanks

How did you recompile the skype lite app? Does calling work with it?
And would it be possible to recompile the latest skype apk, which supports video calling, in the same manner?
Thank you so much infamouskid. I have the basic and the advance, and now I am waiting on my ELF the Basic is a nice tablet but I wish I would have bought the advance instead. better to use android 2.3.4 that is fully functioning than using a disabled 3.2 or a beta 4.0.
You made my Basic useful somewhat. think I will turn it to my new TV streamer
A correction for those that think the Paladin was first with the ICS firmware. The Basic was the first as I was using it well before the Paladin came on the market. Check the Ainovo site (to confirm this) or the Ainol site to see when the firmware was posted to download. The Basic had beta ICS in the beginning of December and released the stable version on 21st December - build is dated 17th December but showing in settings as 15th December. This firmware, which I had been using for more than a week before the Paladin came to the market, is the actual firmware currently installed on the Paladin. The 4.03 firmware is expected in the next couple of weeks. The current firmware for both is 4.01. I have confirmed all this both on site and by watching videos of the 2 devices and comparing the firmware on the Basic (which I had) with that on Paladin. I can assure you it is the same and with a few minor tweaks runs very well.

no official change log but here is what I compiled according to some users... all over the net.
The version is 4.0.1 ICS_MR0 eng.mdliu.20111227.1122122
-Bring preinstalled Facebook, Youtube, Kindle, Pandora, Messenger
-Magic Code works (an app to run apk recompiled for arm)

yes. no problems here. It works.
Try to install the Clockworkmod and wipe cache. then try to install the market again.
Is the novo 7 basic or paladin worthy of buying?
I would recommend the advance or the upcoming ELF. MIPS based devices don't support many apps. but if you want to chose go for the basic. It has 2 cameras and 5 point multi touch screen while the paladin only has 2 point touch screen and no cameras.
I installed the clockwork mod in the 1st page, wiped cache and dalvik cache x3. I tried installing the market apk and still it didnt work. can you please help. I dont have gmail as well.
16k, I would go for the Basic with ICS or HC (both worked fine for me and both had market, etc, already installed) The Advanced is now out of production and I have a sneaking impression it has been reincarnated as another brand of tablet.
I don't quite understand Ainol's marketing and product planning as the Advanced was released well before the Basic which has been their main vehicle for development. A consumer choosing between tablets would lean towards a tablet with an Advanced version ahead a tablet they called the Basic version. However the Basic is more 'advanced' than the Advance model.
As a follower of their development I would choose the Basic running ICS over the Paladin running the same version of ICS as the Basic has more features, e.g., cameras, hdmi and capacative menu buttons built in. As a final word though I will say the Basic was the first ICS (non Beta) tablet and it was always their intention for it to be so. You will notice on the Ainovo site that it has always shown the Basic as the "the world's first ICS tablet" ( for $99).
Reading some forums I got the impression that they were saying piss off Basic users as we have the Advanced model and you are not worthy to be here. I still have a laugh at those poor, misguided fools and ask 'where is your Advanced tablet now?". I know of at least 1 other branded tablet that sounds too similar not to be called a rebadged old Advanced (and cheap too!!) but you can do your own searching to find it.
16k - only the first bit was for your info, the rest is for anyone who wants to read my ranting but especially certain Advanced users.

I agree with you Waxwrong. but If you want application support right here, right now and you don't want to wait for the developers community to catch up(lets face it it will take some time) then the arm core based tablet will be the better choice. I love my Basic device but I am more happy with the Advanced, because at least there I can have my applications that I purchased and use everyday.
So far, My Basic Tablet was turned in to a Media Streamer with 2tb USB HD and a nice wireless kyboard/mouse set, I couldn't be more happy with a 100$ solution in my living room.
But I agree with you Waxwrong that the MIPS chip seems to be the way for AINOVO (AINOL sounds abit bad in the English language so I guess AINOVO will be the name after CES 2012).

Starfox 64 demo:
More information will be added as it becomes available.
Quick walkthrough on how to replace the stock emulators on the S7100.
Disclaimer as usual: everything here is at your OWN RISK.
I'll be using Gensoid as an example, as this emulator refused to launch for me out of the box.
Requirements:
Rooted S7100.
File explorer with root permissions.
Gensoid replacement.
1) Once your device is rooted, you'll need to grab a file explorer. The explorer I use is ES File Explorer.
2) Download Gensoid. For this example, place this on the root of your SD card. As long as you can find this file in ES Explorer, it doesn't really matter where you put it.
Instructions:
Launch ES File Explorer, press the menu button and change the following options:
Change Home Directory to /
Check Root Explorer to enabled
Check Mount File System to enabled
Back out of the settings and navigate to the following directory:
/system/app
Long press on Gnes4droid.apk and rename it to Gnes4droid.apkbak
Navigate to /system/libs/ and rename the folder Gnes4droid to Gnes4droidbak
Now power off the S7100 and power it back up again, if you do not power off installation in the next step will fail.
Launch ES File Explorer again and find the APK for Gensoid that you downloaded previously and press it. It should now offer to install the application, follow the on screen steps and you should have successfully replaced the preloaded version of Gensoid.
Any games you have should still autmoatically launch from the Game Center icons and the MD lists, but adds the advantage of having a launcher icon for the emulator itself, should you wish to customise your device with another launcher.
This should work for any preloaded emulator that you wish to replace with a previous version. Do NOT delete the other emulators just incase you want to revert.
If you have any issues, you can always undo the renaming operations above.
I ordered one of these things a few weeks ago, and finally got it in the mail, but it doesn't boot; it sits at a blank white screen. Any thoughts?

Tried booting into recovery and loading factory defaults? I read about someone who had a similar issue.
Which website did you buy it from?
If factory defaults don't work you could also try downloading f/w above and reloading it.
To get into recovery (courtesy of Jutleys via apad forum):
Press and hold the Menu button, keep the Menu button pressed and now press the Power on button. The "upgrading please wait" message will be displayed. The menu will be displayed. Use the Volume + and - buttons to navigate the menu options. From the menu you can perform the following functions:Wipe data/factory reset.Yes-delete all user data.Wipe cache partition.Wipe media storage partition.Apply SD-card update.zip.
From the menu choose "Apply SD-card update.zip" select the option using the Back button. Wait while the tablet reflashes. Ensure the battery is fully charged or the power cable is connected before starting the reflash process. After the reflash is complete. Press the Back button to reboot the tablet.
I just ordered one of these. Sounds perfect since I am delevoping games for Android, and this is a mix of everything Android it seems.
I got just about all Emulators for Android, so I hope to test how well they will work on this. Amiga, C64, almost all Segas, most Nintendo, DosBox and Playstation 1. I just worry that it might be too low quality and won't work at all.

Also do u know how to get rid if the Chinese market and crap? I replaced some default emulators with new versions by renaming originals in system/app folder but can't see anything fire the Chinese stuff.
I did not completely remove it but I beleive you can use titanium backup, I used it to remove all the Chinese apps and everything else I didn't need

Wouldn't be wise to remove their launcher entirely. If you use an alternative launcher though, you can set it as the default launcher which effectively does the same thing anyway.
Settings > applications > all > launcher > clear defaults on "Launch by default".
Next time you press HOME, it will ask you which app to use as your default launcher, set it to Go Launcher and it'll be the default launcher from boot.
To reverse this if you have any issues, repeat the steps above and select Go Launcher to clear defaults, instead of launcher.

JXD s7100 Bluetooth Support?
Does anyone know if this device supports Bluetooth? I read on another forum that there is a firmware upgrade for the resistive screen model that has Bluetooth in the caption. If the device does have Bluetooth, does this mean it's only in the resistive screen model? Maybe only later releases of the device received the Bluetooth capability (resistive and capacitive)? Thanks for any information.

There seems to be a few different models out there and seemingly one of them has bluetooth. I'm not aware of where this model is being sold though, as almost nobody seems to have a bluetooth enabled model.
My capacitive model doesn't have bluetooth and looking at the restive models other users have, theirs don't have it either.
Fairly sure this isn't a stock upgrade for later releases though, rather another SKU.

Thanks Blokenfeffer for the information.
One thing I find that is strange though. The following sites list that it does have Bluetooth. Sorry I could not link to the entire URL. The forum has yet to give me the privilege to do so.

lettouch.com
r4shop.co.uk
Do you think that this is an error on their part? They have had this same information on their site since the launch of the device.

It's possibly an error, or they could have the bluetooth model. Mine has bluetooth sharing running in the background, but there's no bluetooth hardware in the machine that I'm aware of.
There are definitely 3 different firmware revisions on the JXD site though, including bluetooth and none bluetooth versions.

Thanks again, blokenfeffer. That answers my question to why I saw a picture on JXD's website with the Bluetooth symbol running in the notification bar. It must have just been running in the software, yet it does not have the actual hardware to support it. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if the new units coming out have Bluetooth or not.
Mine definitely does not have bluetooth. Interestingly, it thinks it has GPS, but even after spending 10 very cold minutes outside with the device pointed at the sky, I could not get a single satellite signal. So I suspect that radio is not present either.
Lots of tinkering!
I have been following this thread since its introduction and appreciate all the tips and tricks that have been very helpful. I thought I would add my findings to the thread.
I finally got current location working in the browser and on wifi.
After countless try's I have found a reliable networklocation.apk that works..
- 1 First you must be rooted
- 2 In order to get it to work google search tiadroid6.1 and its the first link that pops up.
- 3 Extract the file networklocation.apk and using (es file explorer or similiar app) and add it to your /system/apps folder
- 4 shutdown and reboot your device
Volia! enjoy!
Things I have currently done
- Rooted/Market via visionary
- Changed boot screen
- ICS Keyboard (must have)
- Removed Badiu and all the factory launcher and junk (makes this thing pretty snappy)
- Netflix works great
- Skype works but hangs at times
Problems I'm currently working
- factory camera app is really screwy I downloaded HDR app from the market and it appears to work fine so I'm hoping its software
When I load it I sit at a blank screen regardless of which camera I have selected. Sometimes I can get it to work by going to video and clicking the mms video option.
- GTA III boots and loads just fine plays the entire movie and will sometimes even let you play for a minute or two then crashes with an android process error
I *had* Bluetooth on mine untill I dared to update it with one of the firmware on JXD's website
UPDATE:
Fixed my camera problem and with chainfire 3D most games work really well on this thing. For those that have sporadic camera issues make sure that you don't have the screen locked and that the screen rotates.
I'm crossing my fingers to get gingerbread on this device so that we can use OnLive gaming.
Also I have been messing with power profiles and am seeing better battery life in the 4+ hr range.
The charger that came with it died so I'm in the process of building another one. So more to come once I can charge this thing!

Quick question about your bluetooth. Did you actually have it working? If so have you taken apart to get the BT chip info by chance to try and recover that functionality?

Well, I could turn it on & off, it seemed to be responding properly, was going to test some bluetooth gadgets after the firmware upgrade but alas...
I haven't taken the thing apart yet, I'm mailing back & forth with JXD at the moment to see if they can help, if that fails though I probably will take it apart.

Kitkat update has been released! Build number: G6-20140929-144358,2014093
kitkat G6-20140929 download: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/3670a7a4ef72/G6-20140929-1443584.4.zip
been using 4.4 for a few hours and already it seems pretty good. RAM usage is good and xposed works!
The battery, dimensions and dual speakers are what interest me most. When comparing to the Note 3, this is just 5mm taller and has an extra 300mah in the battery.
Anyone else have this phone?
Ordered a white 32gb/2gb model today, cost £200.99. Also bought a rubber case for £2.something
Delivery is 5-15 business days. hopefully i get it soon, very excited
1. No Kitkat release yet
2. Call ID is not display for incoming call
3. Not root available
Had a look at a Russian forum, and many users have reported the speakers rattling, and some guy had quite a few dead pixels on his device. I really hope mine doesn't have any dead pixels arghh.
TWRP is available, and maybe a MIUI Rom. Gonna post links later

Delivery already root !
Maybe the Jiayu G6 is delivery with root too.
I've that one
Hi,
I already have this one for over a month now and I really like it. But I hope the community gets bigger.
So there will be more tricks and tweaks. I'm just a thinker and leecher.
Wdeb
Got the device yesterday and so far ive been quite impressed.
Build quality is good, no creaking.
GPS works very well! Gets a lock with no internet in 10 seconds. Very accurate, more than suitable for regular navigation.
Speakers are VERY good, loud+clear.
Front camera 8mp is v/good, soooo much detail. Rear camera is good, focuses very fast. There is a lot of noise in low light however, and shutter speed becomes very slow.
WiFi signal is strong, better than all my prev droid devices.
Root can be enabled in settings
Bad stuff:
Stock launcher and theme are very ugly, also the app switcher is iOS style, and slow. Also note this gives the wrong RAM usage reading.
Overall, ui isn't as quick as it should be. Don't get 60fps transitions everywhere. The jiayu g3s beats the g6 there.
'Aliyun OS' atm xposed probably won't work and will cause brick.
Will comment on battery later, but screen on time will be around 5 hours.
Discovered some small bug in the camera app. Photo mode must be set to '13mp 4:3' for the video camera to record in 1080p, otherwise it will be 720p.
The gyroscope (might) be messed up, the axis are swapped, so if you move left or right on x axis, the phone thinks you are moving up or down on y axis. This is common with mtk6592 devices. I've only tried using the gyroscope in street view on google maps, so could just be a bug in that app.
I got 6h37 minutes screen on time a few days ago! Without a doubt the battery is 3500mah. Phone was on minimum brightness, wifi was on all the time and 3g was active for about 90 minutes. I was basically using snapchat all day. The battery percent is slightly inaccurate, 100 to 90 percent decreases slowly, then lasting 90% decreases in a linearly. Some other people have also had a miscalculated battery, it is something to look out for but not much of a problem, since the battery lasts so long anyway. I don't think recalibrating with an app will fix this but I will try.
The Jiayu S2 was very recently updated to kitkat. That phone has identical specs to the G6, so I think it is very likely the G6 will get updated to kitkat soon too.
Chrome browser scrolling is really laggy, stock browser performance is very good, but most the search providers are Chinese. I recommend using Bing, as that detects your language. Google is in Chinese. You can set your homepage to the correct language.
I've own also a G6 and have massive problem with it... ob better with the backup i've done befor i updated the rom to the newest version.
I’m not able to restore the user data with the build in “Android system recovery e3″, it simple says “no sd-card” (G6 has only phonememory, no sd). I've made the backup via e3 befor i flashed the new version, so i have now a clean g6, a backup from nearly 530MB (named “userdata_20140820_184248.backup”) and can´t restore it. Is there another solution to restore it (I have already tried nanodroid and TitanBackup, none can work with this backup-typ (will not show it)…
If i have a look at the phone with the root explorer, it shows me to under root\sdcard the phonememory, under root\storage sdcard0 (which is also the phonememory) and sdcard1
, which is only r/o with a size of "0". Phonememory is shown as 24,11 GB. It seems that something went wrong with the update.... Meanwhile i have restored the apps manually, but i'm not able to do a new Backup (error: no sd-card if i use the build in e3-backup solution)....
Any idea how to fix this error?
Firmware update??
I was reading the last reply, were Chris4Me mentioned a new firmware??? But where does that one come from?
I did see the one on Needrom, from Socrates. But because I can't find a back-up-method that completely backs up the phone, I haven't tried it. I want to go back to the former state. So something like ghost-images for the PC but now for the phone. Does someone have that?
I do like the G6 a lot. Sometimes it lags a bit, but most of the time it works perfect.

Here's the link. I don't think it includes flashtools program. In flashtools select 'upgrade firmware'. The phone storage is formatted, you will lose all data on the phone so remember to backup!

Might make a tutorial in weekend
Hi,
thank you... i'll download it...
Done... there are no (flash-)tools in the package...
By the way, which recovery solution are you using (cwm/twr)?
I've tried severale (for example: Carliv Touch 6044 v2.5), but none will work (i always get a "no sdcard" error), reason seems to be the virtual sdcard of the G6...
So i'm using instead of cwm/twr the titaniumbackup and nanodroid... i hope it will work, i don't will loose all my apps and data again...

Rooting G6
Hi All,
I ordered G6 and will receive it next week.
Is there a way for rooting the device?
I need the root to repair the IMEI due to custom regulations in my country.
Jiayu support answered that there is no engineerinf mode available on the original ROM.
Therefore I need the root to play with Mobile Uncle Tools.
Thx in advance

Known Issues
The first time you switch on, you will see the OS Switch button on the Windows TaskBar, when you click it the first time you will see the Q2S Config Utility. My advice is to set all options on the left to Enable. Set the options on the right to Enable, OS2, Reset System, Disable. Click commit. Warning! If you select SoftIcon Switch Enable to Disable and then click Commit the taskbar icon will disappear! Also if you set Mute Enable to Enable and click Commit the Q2S Config Utility will not open again so you can’t make changes.
Once you have set up the bluetooth keyboard in windows and reboot into android you obviously have to pair the keyboard again, when you return to windows you will have to remove the keyboard (same with my bluetooth mouse) and re-pair it again. So each time you dual boot you have to pair again. I have decided to only use the bluetooth keyboard with windows so it works after a OS Switch and back again.
Update 03/Aug/15 Windows 10
To upgrade immediately go to this page and select Download Tool Now 32 Bit version.
The upgrade will not affect dual boot.
Update 31/Aug/15 Windows 10 Windows update has improved stability so I recommend getting all the updates.
Update 06/09/17 How to Root, see above and various small edits.

Battery life
Hi,
Thanks for the first details of the tablet. Have you had a chance to test battery life yet? I am thinking of buying the Chuwi or the Ramos i9s Pro Dual boot. But it seems there is no 3G version yet for the Ramos which I find useful for my purposes. On the other hand the Chuwi has a 6400mAh battery only (8000mAh for the Ramos).
Cheers

I got mine today.
just want to add some rants
- bonus screen protector is not good.
- no exFat on android.
I doubt any "hack" to support it since chuwi doesn't release kernel source
- strange pattern under bright light when screen is off. not noticeable when screen is on.
I saw the same thing on old HTC windows 6.5 device (HD2 if I remember correctly)
other than that I'm quite satisfied.
i'm planning to buy this tablet
is there any weakness i should know before?
preferable a comment from someone who's already using it for a few weeks
i'll get either this or Onda V919 or Cube i6, though i prefer smaller one
but Onda V919 has a large community here, and Cube i6 build quality is better (than Onda, dunno VS this one)
hows the battery? also is the weight is truly ~300gr (like iPad Mini)?
Thank You
Available Free Space
Even am planning to buy Chuwi V89 dual boot 64gb awesome specs.... can anyone please tell me what's the available free space under Windows 8.1 and Android. Thank you.
Hi, I have had this pad for 1 week and I am pleased with it so far.
Mine came with the Android version all in Chinese, you have to change the language in the settings.
Here are some points worth a mention.
PRO's / CON's
The screen is very good, sharp and responsive but is a fingerprint magnet and does not have anti-glare coating like my Nexus 7
Windows Resolution is 1920x1200 Android Resolution is 1280x800, can't seem to change it.
Windows Hard Drive is 41.2Gb Android 10.7Gb The rest must be Operating system and caches?
My Quadrant score is 12453
GPS is slow to lock but OK once done.

Thank You
my unit came this morning and I really like the flexibility here. Windows + Android in 1 tablet, it's the dream
I have a few questions actually
1. how long the charging operations usually from 0% to 100%? the LED is blinking red light and the % increase so/too slow, made me thinking my battery or charger is at fault. but after 3 hours, it sits at 51% (I'm charging in Windows env). I too using USB charger doctor to display amperage used. sometime it only charge at 0.1A and then up to 1.3A using both Chuwi charger or iPad charger. is this normal?
2. any way to Configure BIOS or resize default partition? or even install a Linux distro? because the Default we need to load 1 OS first before launching the OS switch button.
3. the official forum is using Chinese, and I'm not familiar with Chinese . any other information for this tablet? I really curious about OS update (Windows 10 support? Lollipop?)
Thank You
Hi ils,
mine arrived almost flat and I had to charge it to set up my windows account.
I usually charge overnight using my Samsung wall charger which can give 2 Amps max, It does appear to take a long time.
I managed to root it today using the links supplied in this post.
I don't know of anywhere else to find info in English, I also do not read Chinese.
The drives are visible in windows disk manager, all 16 of them!
Not looked at playing with the BIOS as I only really wanted this for Windows.
I would not expect Lolipop any time soon, But windows 10 will be a free upgrade later this year.

hi guys just wanted to give my opinion on this tablet, i've had it for about a month now and as much as i love it couple of issues people may want to know....
i also find the charger very slow, can take about 3-4 hours to fully charger from below 10%, even if switched off, i found that the wifi performed better in android but it may have been down to a driver upgrade, i went back to previous driver and now it seems to work better.
i was extremely happy about the memory provided for each os as i don't require so much for android,it was and 31gb for windows after updates and 10.7gb for android, i've had no issues with the dual booting and battery life seems to last around 5-6 hours if watching movies online with bluetooth on, so quite good really, in my opinion anyway.
would like to know if anyone has been able to update to windows 10 technical preview whilst still keeping the android dual boot option?
also screen is very good quality aswell, also doesn't seem to be as much support for this unlike the onda v919 and teclast x98 but to be honest i much prefer the chuwi screen size/aspect ratio compared to the 9.7/4:3 the onda n teclast use.
hope this helped guys

Thank You both
I wonder if we could change Android Resolutions to native since the text seems blurry
yeah, I also chose this tablet because the size and aspect ratio
9.7" is too big for me
about Windows 10, how can we install new Windows without access to bootloader?
Hi, I found that from off, if you hold the vol - and On together you get to a bootloader.
Also Vol + and On get you to a different one.
I wiped the cache in there and it improved my slow GPS fix issue.
I also ran SuperCleaner and now my Quadrant score is 15127, up from 12453
Thank you
Thank you please keep us updated. maybe a youtube video review? anyway you can even connect a keyboard and click DEL or ESC button while booting to get into bootloader like any other PC. same works for teclast. and I truly feel you can install and update to windows 10 without messing up android as windows has its own partition and during installation select windows 8.1 partition to update to windows 10.

Rakesh

The Chuwi Vi7 3G Tablet. Very affordable for under $60!
Mod edit: Commercial links removed
1. INTRODUCTION (#001)
// UNBOXING
(Click the thumbnails to see the full size image)
The box itself:
A very simple, blue box. Shows the Chuwi logo, processor specifications, and model specifications. Not much else to it.
Inside the Box:
Doesn't come with much. Just the tablet, 1x charger plug, 1x micro-USB cable, and manual/warranty documents.
// TABLET GALLERY AND DIMENSIONS
The device itself is 18.8 x 10.8 x 1.0 cm / 7.39 x 4.24 x 0.39 inches, making it a not-so-thin device to work with.

Bottom:____________________Left:____________________Right:
// DEVICE
Starting up:
The tablet takes over 60 SECONDS to boot. I feel that this is very long, but keep in mind this is only a $60 device.
The device comes set to Chinese out of the box. Click the globe icon near the bottom of settings and then the very first option to change your language.
System information shows the device does indeed run Android 5.1.1
The device supports SD cards and you WILL need one. Out of the 8GB in the device, only 3.55GB is available to the user. The low available space is from me installing many apps, do not be alarmed.
2. PERFORMANCE (#002)
// SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS AND BENCHMARKS
CPU: SoFIA AtomX3 C3230 64 bit Quad core 1.2GHz
GPU: Mali-450MP
Storage/RAM: 1GB RAM + 8GB ROM
System: Android 5.1.1
Display: 1024x600 7.0" IPS
USB-OTG: Enabled
Bluetooth 4.0
TF/SD card: Up to 64GB (not included)
This device scores VERY high considering the $60 price tag. Performance wise, it heavily outclasses many Snapdragon 410 handsets and tablets, including the Moto E and Moto G 2015. Internet speeds are fast and stable, ensuring fast app downloads and system updates. Graphics scores show that the device can handle many recent high end Android games and emulators. They may not run perfectly, as this is still a low end device, but they are definitely all playable. From the 3DMark chart, you can see that the temperature of the device barely increases. I can confirm this, as playing intensive games does warm the Vi7, but it is almost unnoticeable, and certainly is nothing to be worried about.
3. SCREEN (#003)
The screen is 7", however, it only has a resolution of 1024x600. The colors are slightly inaccurate in the greens and reds, which is okay. But there is very visible pixelation in the overall screen quality, especially in text, when compared to higher end devices. You can even see it in the picture above. Here is a link to the full unedited image: http://postimg.org/image/hb4i0l677/
Testing the RGB accuracy of 4 devices, including the (From top to bottom) Chuwi Vi7, NVIDIA Shield Tablet(Native screen preset), iPod Touch 5th generation, and Droid DNA(Super LCD3) you can see the screen quality of all devices.
Red:
Blue:
Green:
As you can see, for reds, the Chuwi V7 produces a very burgundy color, is very accurate for blue, but for green it has a yellowish tent.
Outdoors, the tablet does surprisingly well, being able to view in very direct sunlight, while the viewing angles are questionable, it still produces a well enough image for one user.
4. BATTERY (#004)
The battery in this device is 2500 mAh, which is very small for a tablet with 3G. I work a 7 hour shift with my job, and this tablet could not survive from 10AM to 5PM. (10:00 - 17:00). Even worse, the battery reading seems to be broken on my device, I charged the device overnight and the battery app for Android reports the usage incorrectly.
Throughout my shift, I browsed the web, chatted on Kik, Skype, and Steam and played around 20 minutes of Implosion. Upon the end of my shift, I attempted to unlock my tablet only to find the battery dead.
Unfortunately, charging the tablet is a problem too.
It took over 2 hours to charge the tablet from 0% to 100% while it was powered off. The tablet does not support Fast Charging.
5. CAMERA (#005)
The tablet sports two cameras, one primary 2MP camera and a secondary 0.3MP camera. I took of a corner of my desktop with 5 different devices(Droid DNA, iPod Touch 5th Generation, 12.1 MP Fujifilm Camera, Chuwi Vi7, LG Tribute, NVIDIA Shield Tablet). The main purpose of this device is not the camera, so view the images for your interest. (Click the thumbnails to see the full size image)
Fujifilm:
Droid DNA:
iPod Touch:
Chuwi Vi7:
LG Tribute:
NVIDIA Shield Tablet:
The camera is of course the worst of them all, it lacks any type of focus, the UI is very stock, and it has no flash, however, this is only a $60 tablet, and the camera makes this a very feature filled device, especially since there is also a front facing.
// FINAL VERDICT: 8/10 (#006)
+Very strong performance at a price point of $60
+Plenty of features for an entry level phablet
+Runs the latest version of Android to date
-Questionable battery life
-Lackluster camera
Who would buy this?: Consumers looking to step into the tablet world of Android and on a very low budget. While this device does have many pros and also many cons, it is still EXTREMELY feature filled for its price and I would recommend this to anyone on a budget. This device beats Amazon's new Fire 7" tablet in every category: Camera, OS(Android 5.1.1 vs Fire OS), screen, audio, and storage. For only $60, you are getting a lot.
If you have any questions about the tablet or would like to see something added to the review, leave a reply!
Update: Added new unboxing images
How did you managed to install so many apps ?! Can you still update the apps you installed ?
I'm asking this because I was in the position of hard-reseting my tablet several times, because couldn't even update my apps...
Every time I start using the tablet, after each reset, an update of the Play Google AppStore is made and this gets much of the available space. As the main purpose of the tablet for me is In-Car Navigation I only installed Google Maps, Waze, Here Maps and Torque (for OBD2 car diagnostics connection). Here Maps was installed with two maps downloaded (around 500MB), but on the external/microSD partition. When I tried to update - from Play Store - any of the apps installed, I receive a 'not-enough space' message.
I tried several App2SD applications, all of them being basically shortcuts towards the Apps in Settings, with no success (no 'Move2SD' button available). I understand this is a limitation of Lollipop's OS.
Hello mircea,
Yes, there is a bug in this tablet. It will consume your storage slowly, until there is not enough space. I have to root the device, and flash it. After that, storage problem is disappear. And another problem of deep sleep (can't turn on after sleep) also resolve.

Have you tried the app Disk Usage & Storage Analyzer? It shows a file by file and folder by folder chart sorting all by file size. Maybe there you can find what is causing the problem.

Deep Sleep Problem
You did forget a very big problem of this tablet.
It if goes into deep sleep mode it does not get back.
This makes the tablet totally useless.
It is incredible that a product that is on the market for such a long time has such a bug.
I cannot really use it due to this bug .
that is unfortunate for my first Intel tablet.

1. How you rooted your Chuwi vi7.
2. Where you found the ROM update.
3. What the latest ROM version number is.

Chuwi Vi7 Performance as a 3G Phone
Hi , great review.
I have tried using my Chuwi Vi7 as a phone a number of times. It seems okay for short phone calls, but it has crashed a few times during longer phone calls of over 10 mins. I'm not sure whether this is related to the battery getting below a certain limit, but it was most inconvenient. I also find that my connection to my mifi drops when the battery gets down below 20% capacity. Has anybody else experienced these problems ?
I find the device is great as a satnav using Google Maps or similar. Always seemed to have a good signal, and didn't seem to experience any problems with processing map data / directions fast enough from what I remember.
I cracked the digitiser on mine when I had the tablet in a side pocket and I tried to squeeze out of my car when I could not open the door properly due to a car being parked too close. Fortunately I readily found a very reasonably priced replacement digitiser on Aliexpress for just over £8. See link below :-
Sorry - link prevented by XDA Developers Site - I'm a new user. Will post link after I've sent 10 posts.
It was tricky prizing off the old digitiser - takes a lot of patience, but I managed it and my Chuwi looks brand new again. The digitiser even has a protective film ready fitted !
Another success story of mine, is that I've upgraded the battery to one that is stated to be 5500mAHrs. Most batteries are over-stated, but this battery bought for under £6 is far better than the standard 2500mAHrs battery that is fitted as standard :-
Sorry - link prevented by XDA Developers Site - I'm a new user. Will post link after I've sent 10 posts.
I was still not satisfied with that, so I drilled two small holes in the back cover, fed two wires through and strapped the old battery to the back with white insulation tape. It's quite a thin battery ,so doesn't get in the way too much. I'd sooner have better battery performance than for the device to look aesthetically pleasing to the eye
Hope this helps other Chuwi Vi7 users.
Regards, Colinalvin63
@colinalvin63: following the (visual) instructions in the video below, I managed to install a new ROM - v1.1.13 - and, apparently, the storage issue is all history; the new ROM allows apps to be moved on the MicroSD card.
https://youtu.be/-gCMNMAdV9w
What can you tell me about the dimensions of the stock battery inside the Vi7? That would help me find a suitable-size bigger battery on Aliexpress...
Thx!

Chuwi Vi7 Battery Replacement
==========================
Existing battery is 3.3 mm thick and measures 9 x 7 cm.
Max available additional thickness, 3.3 mm (pound coins on top of existing battery).
Absolute max thickness of new battery must be < 6.6 mm. Recommend 6 mm to be safe.
Max length 100 mm
Max width 75 mm
Seller on Aliexpress was "ben zhang" , I think the item number must be 32305149726, because it's the only number in the items URL. I cannot paste a URL yet because I have only written a few posts.
You could also find the item by searching for "New Battery 5500mAH Li-ion Tablet" , that text appears in the title on AliExpress. It may take 3 - 4 weeks to arrive, so be patient. At under £6 it's very reasonable, though might not be quite as high a capacity as 5500mAh. I'm not sure how they test these batteries, but I think the capacity is actually approx. 4000mAh, but still a good improvement. Of course the stock battery may also be overstated at 2500mAh.
NOTE:
The Chuwi Vi7 has a little speaker holder, which gets in the way of the new battery. The speaker holder is largely redundant anyway, so I took it out. The speaker is magnetic, and sticks to the metal plate behind the battery. There's no way the battery will slip, unless the phone was given a severe shock - under such circumstances, a slipping speaker would be the least of your problems. Before putting the back cover on again, make sure you align the speaker with the speaker grill on the back cover. A stiff guitar plectrum is ideal for removing the back cover.
My Chuwi vi7 has Android 5.1.1 installed. Kernel version is 3.14.0 built Fri 24th July 2015. I can't see any ROM number like you mentioned above. What date was that build released ? When I check for a wireless update, it says my device is up to date. I have no idea whether such things would work across continents - I'm based in the U.K.
Regards, Colin
Hi Colin,
Regarding the ROM, check the description on the Youtube video - the 1st link is where you can download the ROM, the 2nd is the Flash Tool and the 3rd is a Russian forum where there's a huge topic on Chuwi Vi7 (apparently, Russians like the tablet very much).
Following the instructions in the video I was able to install the ROM and observed that I can move apps to SD card. I don't have the tablet in my possession right now, but - as you can see from the video - it's a build dated September-2015...
Regarding the battery, thank you for the intel!
From the picture below (also found on a Russian site), I found out the type of the battery as being model '337095', which translates into the following size: 33mm x 70mm x 95mm (interesting, huh?!).
I found your battery as being model '407595', no longer on stock. But found a new one. Or one slightly bigger.
Thx!

Battery problem
Hello.
I have big battery problem on my Chuwi Vi7.
Tablet is 1 month old, all apps are stock.
Wi-fi, data, bluetooth, gps, synchronization is switched off.
Is this usage normal?
Is there any solution to impove battery life?
