Is there an app that toggles 3g to 2g everytime I connect to a wifi and toggles back to 3g or even 4g if I disconnect? I searched google and xda but everything I found is not what I search or incompatible with lollipop
Thanks in advance
Flatric
You can do that using the Profiles feature built into the ROM.

You can turn data on and off. There is actually an HTC widget that toggles data on and off.
Go to the market there is an app that you can use to toggle on stock rom. Just search 3G.

Just uncheck "Mobile Network" under Wireless and Network in Settings.

I found a way to turn off 3g/4g and have Edge enabled by going to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Mode > here you can toggle from WCDMA Only; GSM Only; GSM/WCDMA Auto (default). Selecting GSM Only switching my connection to Edge. How can we create a shortcut/toggle for this option?

There is no such option on the Inspire 4g.
*#*#4636#*#* is the option. Dial it. Go to phone. Scroll down. Select gsm only.

Does it really work ?
Yes. I use it to keep mine on gsm. I also used the stock widget to keep data turned off
Turning off 4G speed is easy. Turn on the phone, it doesn't exist
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Using: *#*#4636#*#*
Then selecting GSM does not work for me..still reverts back to 3G "H+)
Any other suggestions? Do I have to root to get access to all the grayed out network options?
Thanks
Is there any app that supports handling of 3G connectivity for Gingerbread?
Most power saver app can't off 3G connectivity automatically.

im confused on what you're asking for?
are you looking for a app that turns off 3G?
I don´t know if it is what you´re looking for, but I use APN On/Off widget - https://market.android.com/details?id=net.maicas.android.apnoo&feature=search_result
juice defender should still work and turn off the data connection. or you can use the enhanced power widget on cyanogen ROM.
so ive had my phone since december when it came out and just recently i factory reset my device and it will not connect to 3g or 2g at all. I havent had any problems with my phone until now and i was wondering if anyone knows if there are any solutions. Im running 2.3.4 and im on t-mobile and i have always had great 3g coverage wherever i go so i know that that isnt the issue so if anyone has any ideas i would greatly appreciate it.
(edit) I just tried other sim cards and they wont pick up on 3g or 2g networks either. im at a loss on what to do.
You could flash a stock rom a 2.3.3 from tomorrow manager.

Input apn settings manually?

I had the same problem with my dutch provider free nexus s. You have to set the APN manually. On the T-Mobile website they should have the settings. I had a problem though cause in Holland the nexus s settings were not on t-mobiles website so I had to use the galaxy s settings but the apn type I had to set it to default instead of internet..bang!! May there be 3g

If you used widgetsoid or any other widget or program to toggle 2G/3G or Mobile Data on and off that could be the culprit as it some have the ability to rename the apn. I had this happen about a week after updating a phone to cm7 from 2.3.2. I had to reinstall widgetsoid and change the mobile data toggle to the root option. Then I made a widget to toggle data on and off and did that from the widget to fix the issue. It can uninstalled with no issues once done if this is your problem.
My S4 One S automatically tends to switch to a 3G connection when its idle, and when i begin using it, it sends its data upload thru the 3G connection, WAITS to switch to HSDPA, and then pulls in incoming data. There is no incoming data on the 3G connection at all. Only on HSDPA.
I have googled enough, found this error on many devices, but I cant seem to find a fix.
Is there any way to completely switch to HSDPA to avoid the delay it takes to switch to HSDPA?
Or is there any way to make it receive data as well on the 3G connection?
I am using Android 4.0.4 on a Vodafone India connection in Chennai.
i believe if u disable "fast dormancy" then youll be able to switch and stay connected to HSPA... altho fast dormancy does help save battery if your carrier supports it
And how do i do that?

Anyone, please ?
You can edit your build prop file with es explorer or if your on a Rom like viper there is an option in tweaks

Hi Omni Team,
Can we have the option of swtiching network mode(2G/3G/LTE) in the mobile settings? This is required for switching network for battery saving and selectively change network depending on the area the user is currently.
This option is there in most AOSP ROMS(CM, AOKP).
Thanks for reading this request.
Thanks,
Kunal
The last time i checked it, the network mode was a flippable quick tile...

Just a thought, not sure if it is connected but I previously had the option to change between 2g only/ 3g only/ and 2g with 3g preferred. Today I switched carriers from t-mobile UK to giffgaff and also performed OTA update if latest nightly and the option now doesn't let you choose and only has 2g/3g prefered.
Not sure whether it had to do with the update or changing carrier.
