Hello everybody
Is there an "official" place where all the cyanogenMod apps (APKs) are located and can be downloaded.?
Found a place called apkmirror.com - is that the best place?
Or is there an easy was to extract them from the cyanogenMod ROM package or some other ways to get my hand on these apps?
I'm particularly interested in the message app (SMS/MMS) and image/photo browser.
Tried to install cyanogenMod but it had some bugs so I got back to Google stock ROM.
I tried to search the forum but couldn't find any usefull.
Thanks in advance
They do not upload their sole apks anywhere "officially".

Really!......I thought this society was all about sharing and being open-source-minded!
But maybe there is reasons beside that for not sharing?

The apks are open source. They just don't post them anywhere separately "officially". No particular reason to do so. Their official release is in the form of their custom ROM. Someone else will extract and post them anyways.

For those who miss the IM app from CyanogenMOD which was removed after 4.2.9.1
This is intended to be supplementary to the recent CM-roms as the IM app was removed in the last few version
no "wrong section" crap please as from my experience with supplementary files, this belongs here, not the apps section
bump (incase anyone is still after it)
ps. not on the updater anymore but too damn lazy to update

its here for a very good reason...
at the time i was distributing it via the cmupdater and had recieved 40+ emails of people asking for it (plus some more recently)
noone ever looks in the apps section and nobody took notice in the main CM thread
also, its part of the roms before 4.2.10 so i put it here as a supliment to the roms
i report enough "wrong section"s to know what constitutes being here
Daneshm90 is a clown... Good post garok89 and this is the correct section, its a system app having to do with the cyanogen rom, therefore it needs 2 be here.. ive been looking for this and i would never have went to the apps forum to look. This is jus like when someone post browser.apk updates or contacts.apk updates etc
Thank Have Daiis LooKing 4 it =DDD Plus When You go to CyanogenMod updater Is Not there !! OK N Sorry But How Do u Install It Cuz is not a .aPk ??
the way you did with good old fashioned stuff before the updater...
download it, put it on the root of your sd card
reboot in to recovery
flash it
reboot
its not an apk file as there are extra things in there that need to be shuvved in to /system/app etc to make it work
Could a nice person from the US pull the Google books apk and upload it for us guys across the pond?
Bah you're making us Brits look bad and incapable of using google.

I dont really like getting apks off random sites what with malware etc, and could only find the mobile version on xda. Thanks I'll try this though.
Hmm that website wouldn't work for me anyway.
try either of these:
http://db.tt/f4CwLhq
I tested it before I posted but I get your point.
stuntdouble - yeh I trust you so went to download it but the website kept giving me some rubbish about already downloading a file or something, thanks though
Dufran3 - thanks but doesn't seem to be the correct version? Its displaying like the mobile version on my tablet, I was after landscape 2-page reading with nice renderscript animation, unless I'm missing a setting somewhere..?
Ill try and download the one stuntdouble posted again and give that a go
That is the Phone version of google books.
I was under the impression that the only tablet version of Google books was the one on the Xoom and that the apk on the Xoom was odexed. Additionally the odexing on the Xoom uses an opcode that [bak]smali currently can't handle (hence can't odex)
If the US transformer comes with Google books I'd be interested to see it. But I didn't think it did. If it does, does it also come with Android Movie Studio? Because I really want to play with that.
If you go the development section of this forum there's a ROM called PRIME! v1.2 that includes the tablet version of Google books from the stock US transformer ROM. You could just flash that ROM or unzip the ROM and push or copy system/app/BooksTablet.apk to your transformer.

Ah good idea. I'll give that a go and if it works ok will upload it and post here
Thanks
Edit - here is the apk for anyone else who wants it, I just copied it to /system/app with root explorer but you can push with adb as well. Really nice app I hope they expand the Google Books service to Europe soon.

Thank you, I don't know what was different about your .apk, but it worked. I had a different copy of the tablet apk but it always said "application not installed" when I tried to install it. I have the Acer A500 but I deleted the app and when I wanted it back I had all kinds of problems finding it.
Just a bit of handy info if your wanting to test all the different features of your custom rom. HTC have a self diagnostic tool built in to all of they're android handsets. You can access this by simply dialling *#*#3424#*#*. It can test everything from data connections to the hardware of the device. It can be used to help work out if you have hardware issue with the handset or even help pinpoint issues caused by 3rd party apps or customisations you have made.
Nice, any idea what's the exact .apk for this? Maybe there's a way of importing it into other custom ROMs for fun.

There isn't any need. It's included in every HTC android rom although it would be interesting to see if it worked on another manufacturers handset. Unfortunately I don't have one to try because I've only used HTC's since 2003.

Just so you know you don't install it like a normal .apk. You'll need to put the files in /system/app. the only way to access it is with the code on the first post.
Darn. I pushed both files to the /system/app folder and typed in the command. No dice.
I was hoping to get this thing to work, I think my good-old desire is starting to go! I need to verify.
After rooting my S3, I got a little over zealous uninstalling all the bloatware. As such, I mistakenly deleted the alarm clock (ya know, the one that works with S Voice). Does anyone have the apk for the stock touchwiz alarm clock? The only downloads I can find are modded versions ported for other phones.
Thanks in advance.
You should be able to download a stock rom and search the zip. Normally they are located in the \system\app directory. Make sure you match permissions with other system apps.

I downloaded "BeansStockR3.1". Since I am a new member, I can't post a direct link, but it was the only google result when searching for exactly that. Also, I PMed you a link directly to the ClockPackage.apk.

Do you mind PM'ing me a direct link to the ClockPackage.apk?! =D
I typically put all these apk's in a box or dropbox account. Comes in handy for sharing with friends n stuff.
Here's a dropbox for 4.0.4 ClockPackage

And if needed the 4.1.1 from JellyWiz Rom

Hi there, this is how i fixed my alarm problem
firstly download the clock apk relavent to your phone, i think that there are 3 different ones provided in this thread.
Secondly you need to download something from the play store called "Rom toolbox pro" its £3 but if you ask in the forums here someone can probably point you to a free one that does the same thing.
make sure your phone is rooted, install and run Rom toolbox pro. click on Root Browser, navigate to where you put the APK on your phone, copy and move it to root/system/app. Once you have moved the apk find it in the app folder, click and hold it for a couple of seconds. A menu should popup with options, click on "permissions" set them so they are like this. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2pphiyo&s=6 If you are using a different app you will need to set your permissions accordingly, yet again im sure there is someone on here clever enough to help with that.
Now just restart your phone, the APK will run on boot.
These are the exact steps i followed and they worked for me. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2h353dl&s=6
I hope you have the same luck
Steve
hello i have a problem with my galaxy s8 when the phone is in standby mode it wakes up on its own i noticed that is due to an ad by googleadservices and i tried several ways to remove it but i failed so please can anyone help me with this issue and thanks inadvance
Are you using another launcher? It may be the launcher's fault.
If it is,try downloading Lucky Patcher and use it to remake the .apk file of the launcher with Google ads removed.Uninstall the unmodified app and open and install the modified .apk file.It should probably work.
If it isn't,I may not know how to help.

Talking about such things are strictly forbidden here at xda, since hard working developers make the money to keep their projects going.
To the OP, if you have downloaded an apk that contains a virus, there is your issue. Sites that host apks usually try to sneak in such things in "their" apps.
...What's an OP?Also, should I edit my previous reply?

Original post OR original poster. If you're talking about op, it's the second one, if you're talking about something in the first post, it's the first one.
