I9505 official lollipop update feedback and experience - Galaxy S 4 General

Hello
I got the lollipop update for galaxy s4 i9505 this morning. I got the france version (XEF). Anyone tried the official update that can tell me how it works on the phone?
I Heard that people with galaxy s4+ (i9506) i scandinavia have got some problems with their official lollipop for their phones. Want to be sure before i update, so i ask you guys if you experienced som problems and how the device work with the official update for i9505 in your country?
Regards
steel900

Not so happy with the battery life, I expected so much more and in return I get way less. In standby I lose 2% of battery every hour (with data and BT on and no phone usage, just standby) while on KK 4.4.2 it was more like 1% (with data and BT on and no phone usage, just standby). Sorry but I had so high hopes for standby battery life since it was the strong point of this update.
On Lolipop in the battery section everything seems fine, but the battery drops sharply sometimes. Before the update I wiped the phone, updated with official 5.0.1 (BTU) and wiped the phone again... so I've done everything by the book.
BetterBatteryStats that I purchased and used with great results does not work on Lolipop anymore unless you root it (I will not do that).
Also some apps have issues with the BT while streaming music to my car... it could be from the OS or App... can't really tell... the thing is with the KK and the same app I did not had any issues.
Another another bug that I've discovered is that sometimes in the Battery section the wi-fi is reported to be ON even though it is off and the option "Always allow scanning" is off in my settings. A phone restart is the only cure for this issue.

Ita first version so ofc its gonna have some small bugs...
Remember how many updates 4.4.2 got after initial release...
I just hope we got latest 5.1 and not bug fixes for 5.0.1...

Lollipop update is posted in I9505XXUHOA7 Odin files Multilang. . + Guide for ROOT . Works 100 % (EUR)
Any further discussions / issues belong there.

HTC one with 4.1.2? are you sure its the ONE?
Yes I am sure it was its initial version 4.1.2 HTC one. then update notification comes for 4.2.2 . After updating I am falling Charge drain and heating problem
The battery drain and overheating are most likely related.
Have you tried upgrading to newer versions like 4.3?
No I didn't try to upgrade it into 4.3, coz I am frightened after new up gradation if it will behave more worst. Should I upgrade it ??

Upgrades will usually fix bugs but may also introduce new bugs so your best bet is to Google around for other's experience with the new version before you upgrade.

Android 5.1 Ram leak

Hello guys i have received about a week ago the OTA update for Android 5.1. As much i did like to see this update fixing issues for my Nexus 5 do i still have a bug/glitch. I am not 100% sure if this is the exact same bug as in Android 5.0 (ram leak). Last night i was using my phone as a normal day but then it all happens again.. I reseted the phone early the morning because i had high ram usage which shouldn't be a problem as long everything works fine. Although i am driving crazy with the problems i have to deal with. I decided to make a video from what happens on my phone so people will have an idea what i am talking about. I will share the video from youtube i recently uploaded in the hope people may help me with. I am running official android 5.1 that came with the OTA update. This is a locked non rooted Nexus 5.
Thank you very much for taking your time and i really appreciate it.
P.s English is not my major language( I have spoken in the video). Even you turn off the sounds you will understand what is going on.

[Q] Slow WiFi activation since update to Lollipop 5.0.2

Hi,
ever since I updated to Lollipop 5.0.2, activating WiFi takes a lot longer than it used to on KitKat. I usually switch off WiFi.
On KitKat, after tapping the WiFi icon it usually took no more than 2-3 seconds for the device to activate WiFi, find my network and get connection.
Now, on Lollipop 5.0.2, it never takes under 8 seconds, often even longer.
How can this be? How can they mess up this apparently simple act and make it so much worse than it was before?
I bought my Moto G in early 2013 (in Germany). It is rooted but I don't think I have done anything special to it. For this last update from KitKat to Lollipo I could not use OTA, though, and the only way to make it work was to install the Brazilian stock ROM (could not find a proper European one). Systemversion says 220.21.28.falcon_umts.Brasi.en.BR
Is the Brazilian ROM the cause of this problem?
Either way: How can I fix this?
I also have that problem.
Getting it connected on University takes like 15 seconds. 8 to turn Wi-Fi on and the rest to actually get connected to it.
Turning of the Wi-Fi is a lot slower than it was before.

Do you also have the Brazilian ROM?
Nope, stock EU 5.0.2 over here.
Too bad I don't know anyone else with the same phone 'cause I would like to check if the problem's on my phone or if it happens with everyone.
It's also kind of a bummer that no one else posts here...

Galaxy Note Edge AT&T (SM-N915A) Issues/Crashing/Bootloop After 5.1.1 OTA Update

Ever since updating to 5.1.1 via OTA update on my AT&T Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915A, I have had numerous issues. The phone lags/freezes often at best, but also crashes and reboots randomly. Worse yet, it has gotten into a boot loop a few times. I have factory reset and cache-wiped numerous times and even flashed a clean 5.1.1 via odin and still have the same issues. Apparently 5.0.1 or 4.4.4 cannot be flashed via Odin once 5.1.1 is installed and I can confirm this is true as I have tried.
Is anyone else having these issues? I have seen similar reports from the Note 4 forums but they seem to be getting new firmware updates to fix the issues. My firmware is N915AUCU2COI2 and is the latest available for the SM-N915A as far as I can determine.
try to flash kernel find on xda.

Wouldn't that require ROOT access? The AT&T variant has a locked bootloader, so no root.

I've been experiencing the same issues since 12/19/15. I too have the N915A... and it has worked just fine up until that day. I noticed while I was out xmas shopping that it was rebooting a number of times while i stood in line waiting to check out of the store. I did not want to be that guy in line pulling apart an electronic device so i waited until I got to the car. Pulled the battery, she was a hot mess, then once it was cool I re inserted and powered the phone back up only to find it to be really laggy, a number a apps were crashing on without me touching them, random reboots, need to pop the battery, SD, and SIM to restart the phone without it getting hungup on the boot routine.
I recently used ODIN to load 'stock" 5.1.1. firmware but no luck. Not entirely sure that its N915A firmware, found it from other threads on the forum. Before knowing we could not go back to previous version, I took a whack at going back to those as well. So far I've reset the phone probably 7 or 8 times with a fresh OTA firmware install and only installing a few apps like Facebook, RSA VPN client and Team Viewer to keep variables minimal.
Ever since xmas day i stopped trying and been trolling the web for support only to here that the N915A has no root yet and other unavailable mods thus far . I have not tried to do anything else yet from a programming standpoint. I put the phone into developer mode, toggled some settings for the CPU and GPU in there so that they ran independently.Setup to be notified when an app crashed in the background. Downloaded Nova Launcher to avoid TouchWiz as I've heard that can be buggy with 5.1.1. So far the phone has been working somewhat normal. No random restarts, however if I restart it myself i may need to remove the battery for a minute to get it going again. The battery seems to be draining faster than it should, least of my worries for now. If i just let the phone do its things without trying to be a few thoughts ahead of it, it seems to process just fine.
Oddly its improving, I'm not sure why. Also, not pleased with it either but its better than having a brick atm. Intend to keep trolling the webs for more solutions until a root is dev'd and nursing this thing until it either hits the bucket again or for some weird reason gets better on its own....

So that's it then? Is there really no way whatsoever to go back to 5.0.1 or even 4.4.4 kitkat from 5.1.1? I've been trying to do it for a while now but I'm new to this Odin downgrading thing.

I also have the AT&T Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915A. Ever since I updated via OVA this June 2016 it has been freezing/rebooting on its own/crashing apps. I have found 3 SM-N915A roms but cannot revert back to these previous builds. I have tried KEIS3 via Samsung to reflash firmware but it wont recognize my device name. After 2 weeks of crashing the phone is now a joke, when it once was king. It was such an awesome phone when it was released. Now I must lay it down to sleep. I guess I will get the Note 7 Edge which should be released this August.
I just wanted to express my frustration over ATT Branded Phone and will not be buying their branded phones anymore. I will be buying international versions or unlocked phones since ATT screwed me on this one.

I ended up being only days left in warranty and getting a replacement. Then a few months later I switched to T-Mobile and got the SM-N915T. So far so good and just OTA updated to Android 6.0. Only negative is T-Mobile's coverage in my area is poor, but WiFi calling, unlimited data (speed limited), and unlimited Binge On media streaming at full speed are great positives. T-Mobile Tuesdays is pretty cool too I must admit :good:
Same problem on SM-N915F even persisting after the new 6.0.1 update
Me too, my note edge N915G get restart constantly after ota update to 6.1 i try to flash with odin but always fail..

SM-G930T battery drainage issue after latest update

My wife has an s7 which I updated to the latest version 6.0.1 with sep. 1st security update, but the battery started draining super fast after that and the phone gets hot.
Is there a fix for this? I've tried resetting the phone. I would even go back to the previous version if I knew how.
I seem to have the same issue
My battery life and signal have been horrible! Constantly losing 4G ... when I lose it, my signal bars show as being full but can't make or receive calls. Been needing to reboot about 3 times a day in order to get signal - even after a factory reset ?
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

I have a T Mobile Galaxy S7 and I've been having SEVERE battery drain issues. Possible solutions I have in mind: rooting and flashing a proper ROM, replacing the battery
Any ideas? Any recommendations? Tired of having to battery pack recharge three times a day.

Some devices drain much more than others, which kind of sucks to be honest. I've heard people get amazing battery life however, I'm on your same boat my S7 is a lemon and it drains very fast. The only temporary solution I've found is to flash the U firmware, change the CPU governer to conservative and to install ampifly, greenify, and power nap and then activate the modules using Xposed.
Doing this gets rid of the drain we usually experience while our devices are idling, so the only battery drain we experience are from apps we are using while the device's screen is on.
Man, can't believe it! Since CyanogenMod is out of the mix and LineageOS doesn't support the this particular T-Mobile version of the GS7... It appears we have to resort to these measures.

Well I mean they would most likely add support if we had unlocked bootloaders in the first place... It's not their fault.
