My wife has an s7 which I updated to the latest version 6.0.1 with sep. 1st security update, but the battery started draining super fast after that and the phone gets hot.
Is there a fix for this? I've tried resetting the phone. I would even go back to the previous version if I knew how.
I seem to have the same issue
My battery life and signal have been horrible! Constantly losing 4G ... when I lose it, my signal bars show as being full but can't make or receive calls. Been needing to reboot about 3 times a day in order to get signal - even after a factory reset ?

I have a T Mobile Galaxy S7 and I've been having SEVERE battery drain issues. Possible solutions I have in mind: rooting and flashing a proper ROM, replacing the battery
Any ideas? Any recommendations? Tired of having to battery pack recharge three times a day.

Some devices drain much more than others, which kind of sucks to be honest. I've heard people get amazing battery life however, I'm on your same boat my S7 is a lemon and it drains very fast. The only temporary solution I've found is to flash the U firmware, change the CPU governer to conservative and to install ampifly, greenify, and power nap and then activate the modules using Xposed.
Doing this gets rid of the drain we usually experience while our devices are idling, so the only battery drain we experience are from apps we are using while the device's screen is on.
Man, can't believe it! Since CyanogenMod is out of the mix and LineageOS doesn't support the this particular T-Mobile version of the GS7... It appears we have to resort to these measures.

Well I mean they would most likely add support if we had unlocked bootloaders in the first place... It's not their fault.

Ah, not blaming the CM team whatsoever. Just longing for CM on my phone!

Question for those who have had their phones for a while.
Just got a Verizon SGS3 in New York City. Love it, but battery life sucks. Rooted the phone. Froze some things using Titanium Backup. Don't see a list here of applications that can safely be frozen. Wondering if anyone is willing to start one?
Also Looking at installing Phone Info:
Phone Info
which supposedly lets you turn LTE off which is said to increase battery life. Don't know why Verizon doesn't let you toggle 4G on and off.
Now I'm looking to unlock the bootloader and install a kernel that let's me under-clock. The phone is so fast I would think I could slow it down a bit without harm. EZ Unlock is said to easily and safely unlock the SGSIII bootloader on Verizon. At that point, I'd be looking for a modified kernel that supports under-clocking.
Anyone point the way to such a kernel or any other tips using the methods above?
Thanks
Harry

Battery life on this phone is fine, about 16-20 hrs for my daily usage. Expected about 4hrs average screen on for the battery. It's the second best behind Razor Maxx.
Stock? No way. I get about 3 hours screen, and it never lasts past about 4 pm.
I had an S2, and this is much worse. Bigger battery, but more drain somewhere. Maybe the LTE, as my S2 was not on LTE.
What is your definition of "daily usage"?

Hi,
since the Lollipop update my phone often looses its mobile signal. After a like 30 seconda it receives a connection again.
Of course this behaviour leads to very crappy battery times.
Any advice on how to fix this?
I ve already tried different sim cards.

Please specify the ROM and other settings on your phone....
Of course
I am on:
Cyanogen OS version
12.0-YNG1TAS2I3
I have attached a screenshot for further details - as you can see I run a stock OnePlus.
My OnePlus had an excellent battery life with Cyanogen 11 but after upgrading to C12S the battery drain is always like shown on the picture and I get barely through the day even with moderate usage.
Hope you guys have a useful advice for me.
Same issue

Yeah I've had the same issue. I changed ROM and it fixed the issue for me. Didn't really find a solution.
Hey all
I have a Sprint Galaxy S 6 that I just updated with an update that claimed to be to improve "battery drain".
It is losing 13% in a half hour without using the phone.
I have no apps running.
I go to settings and it seems that Google Play services is always the one that uses most of the battery.
I never got great battery life but this update seemed to make it worse.
Am I missing something big???
Any advise would be appreciated.

Probably your phone won't go into deepsleep. This is caused by wakelocks and alarms. You can fix this by rooting your phone and install powernap or factory resetting your phone & start all over again.

I would rather not root my phone... I did it with my last three phones and was more trouble than it was worth for me. The phone has all of the features that I like and I don't have a need to flash ROMS.
Any other suggestions?

In that case factory reset your phone, this will delete all of your apps and data so also the wakelocks and alarms. From then your phone will go into deepsleep and you won't lose so much juice when you don't use the phone
Hi, I'm also having battery life issues. I've factory formatted from recovery menu, but I still get battery issues. I charge my phone about 3 times a day and I don't have any significant drain according to the battery usage settings.

The same here. I have everything okay according to battery stats. But I lose like 5-8% an hour when screen doesn't work. Don't know what to do.
I basically surf the net and use WhatsApp. By early afternoon, I'm down to 60% battery. I unplug my charger at 6am everyday.

I did a complete charge last night before I hit the sack. Battery was around 96%, today morning 80%!
I flashed stock ROM using TWRP, on first charge cycle battery is fine - just 1% overnight drain with 8 hrs SOT. On second charge cycle this issue hits me everytime.
All my radios are usually off (WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth, Data).
My phone seems to be in deep sleep a good portion of that time (See WLD statistics - attachment #1).
Android system sucks my battery during sleep and it was at 90% relative consumption when I woke up (See screen shot #1, Android sys has consumed 1840mAh!! This is ridiculously high for a phone that is apparently in Deep Sleep!)
Also attached screen shots from WLD for Summary, Kernal / Partial wakelocks & Alarms.
Device is rooted.
Going crazy trying to find out what's happening.
This happened with KangVIP and my current B180 ROM's which have great battery life as reported by other users here .

Just wanna note here that if you live in the US the huawei erecovery does not work. It tries to fetch a download link for 5 minutes before abandoning. Even in stock firmware
Today when I woke up, Android system was @ 92% relative consumption with 15% drain.

No, after flashing I have not performed a factory reset. I wiped before flashing.

This is an unacceptable level of drain. I get similar numbers. This is getting very annoying. I am spending hours just debugging this nonsense.
When did you install / reset your ROM? What is the build you are on? I have read some posts that suggest to let the system be for first few days since it is in a "Learning Phase". Mine is currently in that phase.
Also, I find that many users here are not facing this issue on the ROM's that I am on, but some users are. I have faced this in multiple different ROM's.
Hence, I suspect this is an issue of some setting that we have changed. This is the first thing I do after reset / flash - modify a bunch of settings.
After searching and reading a lot, I have not come across any solid solutions from anywhere.
Here's a solution from the other thread. But I don't have this in system/apps. So this goes down the drain.

Couple others that are worth mentioning,
1. WiFi causing the drain (Am currently debugging this, modifying options).
2. Format SD card on new ROM, or just remove it (Would be great if you could try this out).
3. Factory reset has not solved for most people, but for some. (Did they *not* tweak some setting after reset?)
4. I think much of this drain is experienced after, charging and during sleep after that!

What value do u have for WiFi -> Advanced -> Keep WiFi on During sleep?
I had the battery drain till last night. Before sleeping I charged it completely, and modified this WiFi setting. Overnight I had only 2% drain as compared to +15% over last few days.
Battery looks good for now. I had the feeling that my WiFi is consuming more power than 4G (Need to verify if I am right). Currently observing.
I hope it is not one of those sporadic issues!

I presume u have been facing this issue at least over past few days now, not just a day or two.
Try toggling to Never. Recharge to full before you hit the sack. Lets see if that changes anything. This helped me, but need to observe for multiple consecutive days.

That's one of the first few things I disable. Nor do I use backup.
The battery drain is back. Disappeared for just a couple of days.
Is there anyone who knows how to fix this issue?
I would request you to do a back up of your apps and then factory reset and then again flash the ROM but via dload method.
Everything will be fine.
Then you can restore your apps

The battery is beginnig to break down and fail. Replacement is the only fix, eventually it will get worse then quit on you.

Thank you, ive done calibration and seems to fix it a little, i think its just the device miscalculating the actual percentage of the battery, what do you think? Also to be specific , i just finished flashing a rom from lollipop to marshmallow back to the last version of lollipop .. problem doesnt seem to occure before i flashed :/

It would have been better if you had provided that information when you first posted. If you want help with issues, it helps for us to know the things that have been done to the device that potentially caused the issue.
Don't just say "I'm having "this" issue". This implies that the issue is a random issue that started on its own and not something you did to cause it.
It's better to say "I did "this" to my device, now my device is having "this" issue". This implies that something that you altered is causing the issue.
Failing to post the details we need about the situation leads to inaccurate or incorrect answers. It can even lead to receiving incorrect answers that don't help or answers that might make things worse for you.
If you flashed a ROM and then this started happening then yes, the battery may be out of calibration.
If it had started doing this on its own then I'd say it was the battery.
