Where is AOKP? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

They have not made a new ROM for the Nexus 5 since October or such of 2014. I have tried to contact them, to no avail. I really like their ROM's and always ran theirs exclusively. If anyone has an update on them or perhaps a ROM that is very close to theirs that uses 5.1 let me know. Thanks.

If they haven't build one, then they're taking their time and you'll have to be patient, or it was abandoned/migrated. There are plenty of ROMs already, anyways, it shouldn't be hard to find one you like.

Status of ICS on Nexus S?

I haven't seen or heard about when the OTA ICS updates will resume. Maybe I'm not looking in just the right places, but all of my searches (web & xda) don't have any new information.
Has anybody heard about when the updates will resume? I have the i9020a, but I guess I'm asking more generally.

What makes you think ICS OTA was stopped ?
I went back to GB for a day 3 weeks ago and the notifiaction to update to ICS keeps coming and annoying me ... One of the causes I revert back to ICS was the annoying update notification...
PS:My phone is I9020T BTW
Just haven't received any notification to update, and all the news I could find said it had been paused a few weeks ago but there was nothing new or recent saying that the pause was done with. At least that I could find.
That's because you have i9020T.
Google haven't release ICS update for I9020A yet.

If that's the case, I feel better about the lack of an update. So then it's a waiting game at this point.
Thanks.
i'm on i9023 and even i havent got it.. there hasnt been any news since they stopped the ota.. even am wondering if we'll ever see a official update..
i heard some rumor that Google has stop OTA temporarily due some bug ???
I heard it was because of battery issues. True or not don't know, but im guessing there's probably more to it than that. Been waiting along time for it tho.
Nexus s 4g completely stock. 2-5 fC's a day. Lets get this show on the road.
Well...

I've been continuing to look around online to see what I could find, and I've stumbled across a seemingly useful thread on the Google Mobile Help Forum. I haven't made 8-10 posts on XDA yet, so I cannot provide an outside link here. I'm sure I could PM it to anybody who asks.
To sum up what I've found, it looks like they're still collecting data about the issues that users are having with the ICS update on the Nexus S. A Google employee provided links on where to report specific issues, which would include the battery issue that you had mentioned.
However, it still doesn't quell any concern about when they're going to have those issues corrected, or how much progress they have made so far.
Why wait ?
Don't wait for the OTA, root your phone and install any one of the amazing choice of developer ICS ROM's to your phone
I chose the ICS version by Peter Alfonso http://download.peteralfonso.com/crespo/rom
(in tandem with Eugene's Speedy Kernel) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1401455
and it's brilliant !
Haven't had one FC in three weeks of use and battery life is astounding
Go for it, it's easy to install and if you don't like you can simply revert back to your current ROM (so long as you used ROM Manager and made a backup of course)
Root is the way to go.
ICS is having battery problems. Go with a custom as mentioned above. I went with the [ROM][25-01-12][AOSP][4.0.3] Codename Android 1.2.0|Fully Open Source and its amazing!

Best ICS ROM
I have been using Crossbones after testing out another well known rom. Crossbones seems to have the magic. The developer is very concerned with stability and only adds features if it works well. No random crashes and few bugs. But he rightly labels his current build a beta which I respect. Others are labeling their betas, stable builds. If you are looking for a good rom with lots of potential check this one out. Oh and BTW great battery life.
Thank you all for your suggestions.
I used to flash ROMs on my Captivate, and kept my Nexus S as a Google OTA phone. Though, considering this whole ICS mess, I'm considering going the way of the custom ROM on this device too.
I might give it another week or two, and see if anything happens by the start of February.

If you have a linux machine compile it yourself, or pick one of many custom ROM's out in the development section or get mine from my signature, the lightest ICS Rom out there. No battery issues for me, lasts 2 days on medium usage.
Hmm i saw that Google stopped the update on some regions including mine -_- to gather feedback ...
Good ICS ROM
Checkout this ROM, it comes with the kernel in that integrated package.

Don't wait for the OTA update, just flash this awesome ROM and chose the KERNEL that fit your needs !!!
Google it's way behind on ICS
my setup at the moment
CODENAME ANDROID 1.2 | Matrix v15 cfs
I have rooted and tried a couple ice roms but found them not much better. It was at the end of November tho, went back to stock hoping for the ota. I do know that there are some awesome builds out but I don't wanna wipe again just yet but I'm getting close.
I keep getting the update notification on my nexus S, I'm trying to figure out if this ICS upgrade that my phone keeps telling me about is the same with bugs etc or a fixed one...anyone know?

[Q] Am I the last Kit Kat flasher?

Since Lollipop has come out I have supported it in various ways. I have flashed the roms since the beginning, have donated funds to the cause, and have sacrificed my time and phone to help solidify LP on our OPO's, but I still love Kit Kat.
Am I the only one that still flashes kit kat builds? I actually still prefer them over LP because of the stability, the themes, the ease of use because of being what you would call comfortable with it, and I like that I don't have to worry about flashing the wrong thing and bricking my phone.
I don't know. Maybe I'm behind the times, or maybe I just am not ready to move on.
But, my question is; do you still enjoy KK roms? Do you still flash them? For me, yes, I am running Vanir's last KK build from 11/24/14 and it has been extremely stable for me.
Just curious if there are still some old school KK users out there...
P.S. please don't take this thread wrong. In no way am I putting down or in any way being negative on LP. I love LP also. That's why I explained myself in the beginning. I appreciate all who work hard for our OPO's and believe me I do what I can and give when I can. I love to donate and will continue to do so. This is just a little innocent thought of mine.
I'm still running KitKat, I'm running the last KitKat build of Nameless. Lollipop isn't stable enough, has too many bugs, doesn't have any of the features I require. I run LP on my second phone (HTC One XL) but I rarely use that. Once CM12S comes out I'll try it on my OPO.

I'm sure glad to hear that, especially coming from you. And I personally want to thank you for all of the work you put in on this forum. You really make it easy in the noob and those just trying to search. I highly appreciate your work!
Yes, I agree with you're statement also. I actually had recently sold my opo and got a nexus 6 but I really missed my opo quickly and after a week I ordered another opo.lol! I missed the ROMs, the ease of use, and the community here. And I, personally really enjoy the opo more.
Thanks for your input!

[Q] Nexus 5 development....

Just wondering if the SlimLP 5.1 development of the Nexus 5 rom is still going on?
All appears quiet in the main forum and am just looking for an update.

I'm not saying I know anything.
But I do know what I see...
That being a Lack of any NEW or UPDATED rom in quite some time. I believe it was posted in early December that weeklies and officials were coming soon. It's now almost the middle of April.
FYI, its been a week since your post...still nothing new.
I'll be one of the first to congratulate you and your team when a new official build comes out. Your product is good, I like it a lot, it's just the continued excuses and delays that make the whole thing look bad.
Unfortunately the issues with the N5 version of SlimLP persist.
For those looking for a very comparable, updated ROM, check out the ROM team Chroma has under development in the XDA N5 development page.

Help with ROM/Kernel

Well, I'm sure this topic has be chewed thousands of times and then chewed again a thousand times more...
So I apologize for that in advance.
But I'm looking for a ROM for my OPO that I will settle with. And the Kernel which works best with it.
I was originally on CM11s (stock) and then tried a lot of different ones during the last few months. I'm currently running MAHDI ROM because it gave me a lot of features which have been interesting enough at the beginning but which I realistically don't need anymore. At least not most of them. And the main reason I don't wanna stay with MAHDI is the amount of crashes I'm having lately with almost any app I'm using including 'Contacts' which crashes often when I just answer the phone call. The phone restarts on it's own, volume bars are all messed up etc. So to sum up, I want to change.
Oxygen OS is not the one I'd like due to the lack of features. I don't need much features that MAHDI offers but I still need some which Oxygen OS does not provide. At all.
I'm planning to change to CM12 (official) and stay there. However, I've heard plenty of bad reviews regarding stability issues, battery extensive drain and some others. How legit are all those reviews? Is it all facts or it's selective like most of the issues users report? Mentioning CM12, I've heard that certain Kernels fix most of the issues, especially the stability ones and the battery drain issue. Please note that battery is quite important to me. I was quite happy with CM11s, not so much with MAHDI but then again, it's not awful. Which kernel works best with CM12 regarding stability and battery life?
Or there are better ROMs than CM12 regarding stability and battery life while not lacking in features?
Again, I know there have been plenty of topics and posts about it but I'd like some help here as I can't dig through thousands of topics and millions of posts to find the proper answer I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance.
There's a ROM review thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/best-favorite-rom-kernel-roll-thread-t2886021
My personal favourite is Exodus though. The only reason I'm not on it right now is because it isn't at 5.1 yet (although they say the update is coming in the next days). You don't need a custom kernel with Exodus, the stock kernel performs really well. It's packed full of great features, it's original development too which means it isn't just cherry-picked features. Plus there's a new feature being implemented called Morph that they say is going to be incredible.

Alright, thanks.
Then I'll wait for the 5.1 version of Exodus and try it out. Which is the best place/topic to follow in order to get notified when it comes out?

If I get the 5.0.2 version now... could I just update to the 5.1 version or I'll have to flash it again once it comes out?

You'll probably have to clean flash it.

Found my old Samsung Infuse. And it was like rekindling a lost love.

just wanted to say that thanks to all the devs an people on here who made me love my experience with my first android phone. all the hacks and mods i did with my phone. it truly introduced me into the tech world. Thanks again guys. i love ya'll. keep it going.
I found mine too but it's dead.
I found mine too, not dead.
Flashing CARBON-KK-NIGHTLY-20141106-1249-infuse4g.zip at the moment.
I may try another, but this seems to be the very last build ever made and the only 4.4.4 ever released on these boards for this old warhorse. Would at least like to try the last "bleeding edge" build ever first to see how stability is then work my way back if needed.
Cheers!
I've been playing around with mine , but it's on GB, so I can't seem to find a way to get it rooted. No luck with TowelRoot, and SuperOneClick won't do the trick for GB as I seem to remember.
I'd upgrade it to ICS or something, but I need HD720 video, and going past GB gets it all choppy

Not the last one, as I did an unofficial Carbon Build back in May I believe. Can check my sig (click on "something") for the project details.
It was a decent phone at the time, but I can't say I miss it.
