I am planning on flashing a custom ROM on my friends Atrix 2 (At&T variant) and i know i need an unlocked bootloader to do that but i can't find a perfect solution to this online, can anyone help me on how to unlock the bootloader on this device?

There is no bootloader unlock for this phone that's why you can't find it. All the information you need to get started flashing is in the development section. Most, if not all, ROMs have detailed instructions in the op of each thread. Basically you need root, a recovery app called Boot Menu Manager (or BMM for short) that is more like a boot hijack, the ROM zip you want to flash and some info on flashing an FXZ in case you get into trouble. Be sure to read the thread detailing how to use BMM successfully and follow the directions in the ROM thread as to which system(s) the ROM can be flashed on (you can multiboot up to 5 different ROMs with BMM). Be safe through reading/researching, have fun, and welcome to the community! :thumbup:

No.. We cant unlock bootloader.. Thats how we roll..XD.. But I think its a general.. Atrix 2 stuck with locked bootloader.. in development section.. Theres too many thread on custom Rom and how to install it.. Good luck..

Where to find it and howto flash? Please help. I dont want to brick the phone because im new on Xperia..

-What is Custom ROM & Stock ROM with regard to Rooting?
-How to root Xperia ZR?
-What is flashing the drive?
-When I type *#*#7378423#*#*, it says in software info section-- you phone doesn't support firmware version read.
Also in configuration section, Rooting status: Bootloader unlock allowed: YES
-What is locked boot loader and unloacked boot loader?
All I want is to install 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 on ZR.
Eagerly waiting to get some guidelines/ tutorials.

A Stock ROM is the ROM which is came with your phone. it is more stable but lacks customisation...
A Custom ROM is the ROM made for your phone by a developer (eg. cyanogen mod). It has more customisation but buggy, stable releases also there...

Flashing is nothing but replacing with another software (e.g. flashing recovery)
in some phones bootloader is locked by manufacturers such that we cant able to install another os to the phone.. if we unlock the bootloader then we can able to flash roms and install os...

I've just recently used the Z5 and wanted to try Lineage OS on it, but when I got the configuration info it is like this.
So does this mean there is no way that I can unlock the bootloader to flash a custom rom or is there a way around it?

Yes. You can't unlock and can't flash costum rom.
