[Q] Telltale Games - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I don't know if it is the right place to ask this question but I would like to know if some of you have tested the Telltale games: "The wolf among us", "Tales from the Borderlands" and "Game of Thrones" on the Moto G XT1032 under lollipop 5.02.
Are they running smooth? Have you observed some lag?
THanks in advance.
Best

Don't know about Lollipop but I played TWAU on KitKat 4.4.4. Can't say it ran perfectly but it wasn't worth complaining. I recommend using a third party app to clear out your RAM before starting the game and giving it a high priority OOM value after starting it, because it guzzles up a lot of RAM, and force-closes are common.

Anyone trying to play Shadowgun on the DC?

Hey peeps,
So Shadowgun got released for other Android devices earlier this week and I decided to download it and try to give it a go. I knew it would be a fat chance seeing as the game probably needs a dual core phone to run adequately. Nevertheless, I was up to the challenge to find a way to play this awesome game. So I got it and played and while it's smooth in some areas it gets really bad when multiple enemies are on screen. I also purchased Chainfire 3d to see if that would help because of what I have seen in other forums. Tweaking the settings I believe the quality has gotten a bit better,, but at the expense of texture quality which (to me) is pretty noticable considering how beautiful the game is in itself. Just seeing if anyone else got this game to run smoothly on their phone? If so, how? Would overclocking the cpu do any good? Any threads I should look into for that?
Yes, overclocking gives a slight boost in performance. I usually crank it up to 1.2ghz if I'm gonna be doing some serious gaming.

Heavy 2d lag on Parallel Kingdom

Seems like this a quite common problem with the new KitKat version, but I cant play 2d games on my phone without heavy graphic lag, worst is parallel kingdom wich is a game that im crazy addicted to. There is some solutions on the internet regarding this problem (hw overlay thing and the force gpu render on 2d graphic in dev settings) but nothing works.
Ive also written to the dev team behind the game but they claim that the problem is solved and they dont want to provide me with an answer.
Is there anyway I can fix this problem?
I have a Moto G Google Play edition, runs great on every 3d intense game.

PK has always been slow on android devices.... while on iOS it is buttery smooth. I have contacted the developers about implementing 2D acceleration on Android and posting2 versions of the game on Google Play - one version for new android devices and another one for older devices. They denied it at the time, in 2013.
I have played it on iPad retina, iPhone 4S and it is WAY faster than on Galaxy S4, LG G2, Galaxy Tab Pro, you name it!
Mind you, root police, that the game has been tested on android devices with stock ROMs, unrooted, rooted, and with CM or other modded ROMs. At all times the game has presented a much inferior performance, compared to that on iOS devices.
If anyone knows of a fix for this, please let me know!!! Or send emails to the developers, maybe they will fix it!!

[Q] Moto G 4G 4.4.3 RAM management too aggressive

Hey folks
I bought a moto g 4g a week ago. The phone itself is good but KitKat is cleaning RAM too often. If i have opened two tabs in chrome and have Skype opened in background i still have almost 300mb of free RAM. But if i switch to home screen and back to chrome one of the tabs gets suspended and needs to reload. Sometimes Skype also gets suspended. I could never bring the moto using all of its RAM. I have always at least 200mb free ram!
What can i do?? Was jelly bean better? Why is KitKat closing apps if there still is enough RAM left?
Stock has very high minfree values, they were the same on my s3 mini, I just don't understand why the foreground app will close when you have 48 MB free... I mean, this literally translated to your phone having 48 MB less RAM... My Optimus One had a stock value of 2 MB and I never had an issue... The only way to change this is with root.
Also, because chrome runs each tab on a separate process, every time you change your tab, that goes to the background, and with our super epicly stupid minfree values, they will just close (and will reload) if you have less than 300 MB free...
Changing the browser might do the trick, Chrome is horribly stressing on my laptop cpu and very glitchy on Android, but Google made that *sort of* worth it...

Many thanks for the reply. Anyone knows if for Android L the min free value are also that high? If its lower i would just wait for it. Because i dont feel good in unlocking bootloader and loose waranty to root the device...
In fact we need a device which has at least 2G RAM to use chrome on Android.
and maybe 4.4.3 uses more RAM than 4.4.2, I had 450 free ram on 4.4.2 but only 350 on 4.4.3.
Can anyone confirm that with root and lower min RAM settings chrome can be used comfortably? Im at 4.4.3 and i have 430mb free ram
And btw how much free RAM is available in cynogenmod Rom? Or slimkat Rom?

I can confirm that it will never be used comfortably, I did that on S3 mini (cyanogenmod, so pretty much the same), and since Chrome runs every tab as a background process, and android caches processes in the same category, most of the time they get the same OOM priority as, let's say, the calculator app you back-buttoned to go back, so they get killed anyway, since android loads background processes all the time, for faster loading (this is just a stupid way to put a process priority for Chrome, bad Google).
TL;DR: Google sucks at making multitasking work when browsing the internet...(most probable case for multitasking IMO)
Also, if you have Facebook messenger, or the app, which have ALL (I really mean ALL) the possible permissions, and will expand their RAM to the limit, you will always have redraws, because they are ran as a service, and will only DECREASE (because they have tons of actual services) their RAM usage when all the background apps are closed.
TL;DR: If you have Facebook app/messenger, say goodbye to multitasking.

So moto g has not enough RAM . browsing for me has highest priority. Perhaps i ll geht a nexus 5
Hmm yes if you are looking for any sort of serious multi tasking then Moto G isn't for you. A 2 GB phone is absolutely required for that.
The Moto G is excellent for smoothly running whatever you are currently doing but your background apps and browsing tabs will be killed quickly.

No, it DOES have enough RAM, even my Optimus One had enough (420), the problem is in the Chrome tab management.
But if you can get a Nexus 5, get a Nexus 5, but a quick test with the nexus 4 and Moto G showed Moto G using much less cpu than nexus 4 for the same tasks (don't know about nexus 5, but n4 vs moto g is a freaking krait versus a low end cortex A7), so Motorola really did optimize.
Spoiler
The test was done with my cousin's N4, almost the same apps installed.

Nova 3 Freedom Edition, Heavy Lag :Solution Required

Hey Geeks,
Recently my friend purchased this phone but is facing ridiculous lag while trying to play "Nova 3", truely speaking this game is not playable at all. Even the game videos that come in between stages tend to lag. While i saw couple of gaming review videos where Nova 3 Runs smoothly on this phone except for one user who was also facing heavy lags. My friend got this phone couple days back and there is no software update avaialble for the phone as of now. Spec wise, phone should be able to run this game flawlessly as even xiaomi phones with meditek processor clocked lower are able to run this game smoothly.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest some solution for that.
please clarify if Problem is with the handset itself or some software update screwed it or some tweaking is required to rage CPU to be able to handle this game smoothly.
FYI:Its a 16GB internal, 2GB Ram Version
Regards
Can I have some reply please

Play it on your 1+1?
There's no custom kernels out for oc support so no way to boost performance. I would clear recents and before playing or maybe a full restart to clear out your ram. Re-install app?
Star Wars uprising runs pretty good on my moto g3... few hiccups but overall pretty good.
I don't think overlooking is required at all coz Cpu seems capable enough as I already mentioned that lower spec xiaomi phone can run this game without lag ?

Low game performance on Shield Tablet

Hi. I hope to be in the right section. I downloaded the famous game THE ROOM (1) on my tablet but the graphics are very very bad. Seems it is running on a low resolution. On my phone (LG Optimus G) the game is very detailed and runs perfectly. Does anyone have encountered similar problems?
No i haven't run into any issues like this. Did you perhaps download a pirated version that was meant for lower end phones? Do you have issues with other games?
Both pirated and bought version havr this problem. With the room two this issue doesnt exist. I attach screenshots. The first one is from LG Optimus G (all stock). When i will be at the home i will upload the shield one. The second one is from Shield Tablet. Fireproof said that (this is for The Room Two) when the game loads it dowloads some files for optimizing graphics. But not for The Room 1

Maybe its just better optimized for Qualcomm and older Hardware.
