So I am having a horrible time with this one on this device I guess. I have DL'ed multiple Bios for the app and currently am sticking with 7502 and 1001 which seem to work for the most part. All my games are slower then the actual trial version or PSX4DROID Lite. I have tested FF7, FF8, FF9, Legend of Dragoon, Einhander, Chrono Cross, and my fav Xenogears and every one runs smoother and way faster with no slowdown on the Lite version but when using the paid version is slow slow slow. I have upped the cpu cycle, and messed with the fps and moved these both around from low to high and no difference in the games. The sound in the Lite version on all these games is bad but the gameplay is so much smoother and overall better, the sound in the paid version is spot on but the games lag. I am using the Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4G which should play these np since I hear from so many others it works great but not sure if its due to my phone? or is it something I'm doing wrong. I have searched the wide world of GOOGLE and found nothing to help. I have searched these forums as well and just haven't found any help with this. I really really really wana jam on some Xenogears or finally beat FF9 as I made it all the way to the end and never got to beat it back in the day.
This is my first Post and I would appreciate any and all advice you pros out there have for a noob such as me
Any assistance at all would be great
Nobody uses PSX4DROID V2 on an Epic 4g? Or does not have the same issues with slowdown like I do? I am not rooted and starting to wonder if thats the issue? Please Help
no one here really cares about that emuklator... v2 of psx4droid is slower than the old build. i bought both so i compare them each time theres an update for v2 and so far the old build is better in most ways especially when it comes to fps. the old build is just a lot more smoother especially for games such as ff9 and castlevania son.
I've tried running gta 2 on psx4droid but the cars and the character itself were missing and so it gave more fps (around 20) but now with v2 i can see everything (graphics are improved) but now the FPS fell down to approximately 15-12 but it is playable so i don't mind the update
Using a task killer won't harm so that you can close down extra things to free up memory then try running the game, hopefully it won't lag.
I'm on an evo 4g and I can say that the latest psx v2 make everything crawl. What worked for me was the first version of psx4droid v2 that was released, try searching the web and everything should run smooth, it does for me on the snapdragon so should fly with the hummingbird.
I also noticed that if u use app2sd it will affect the emulator since u are trying to run the game off your sd card like on my evo. So give it a try and all should be good.
Also I would stick with 1001 bios since that is what the focus of the port is.

same issue with me mate, running stock and FF tactics will fluctuate in speeds, mostly on the slower side
I have the same problem on my x, I've given up with it.
I too get FPS problems with this crappy emulator on my DHD. I get about 35FPS in GT2 but it's still too laggy, this is on v2. v1.1 of PSX4DROID runs much much better.
Won't have to wait much longer to play PS1 games on Android

Hello!
I'm wondering how this phone perform in heavy apps and games.
I've searched for gameplay videos on youtube but haven't found any. Maybe my searching skills sucks. Can anyone here make a gameplay video? Or link to an existing gameplay video?
I'm about to buy LG Optimus 2X, Samsung Galaxy S2 or HTC Sensation. So I'm just looking for some answers.
Does anyone know any LG O2X vs SGS2 vs HTC Sensation article/video?
Hi.
You can find some gaming performance on this video after min 13:00.

how did you get em to work as it doesnt recognise my phone on gameloft site. cant find em on the market
Thank you for the video!
What happend @ 14:26 ? Since he went to the Task Mangager I guess he didn't have enough free RAM to run the game. But shouldn't a phone with that amount of RAM don't run low on RAM?
Would this phone be the right phone for me if I want a phone that can run EVERY game that exists now. And every coming games for about 1 year?

The Sense UI is a real memory hog. It certainly looks nice, but it takes up a lot of memory. That's why I'm hoping HTC unlocks the bootloader on the Sensation soon than later.
i have been using the desire hd version for those games (cracked apk's)
and what happened @14mins mark was: that game is supposedly made only to run on tegra 2 devices but somehow this guy has found a workaround for it that still is a bit buggy !
about the ram: dont worry u wont run out of ram !
Alright! Thanks.
How much free RAM would it be possible to get? Without rooting or change rom. How much RAM would I save by maybe turn off some animations ?
Like I said before. I wanna be able to run heaviest games that exists now perfectly. And the coming games for a while. Is this the right phone then?

I guess it's quite good on gaming. But maybe gaming works better on another phone.
I guess that playing games eats battery on every phone But I can charge it while I'm playing.
Ah I got a question now. HDMI works on every TV, but it only charge the phone if the TV supports MHL? Is there any adapter, so I can charge it AND using HDMI without a TV that have MHL.

Yes they do have such adapters that allow you to do that which should be coming out soon. I believe I saw one in a Galaxy S II demo video a couple months ago that had two microUSB ports: one for the MHL connection and one for the phone charger.

He was trying to run a game optimized for Tegra - for some unknown reason it didn't launch on the first attempt (black screen), therefore he launched the task killer and force closed the game. He did not kill any other applications. After that, he proceeded and (this time successfully) launched the game a second time.
This definitively wasn't RAM related as there was still plenty of free space left.

Ah okay
The LG O2X does have randomly reboots. This one have a death grip and the camera app crashes. Samsung Galaxy S2, seems to be so plastic and slippery but that phone seems to be quite stable.
HTC Sensation doesn't have USB OTG.
All the phones probably have more bugs but that's a few of them. This is driving me crazy.
Is there a way to turn Sense animations off? That might help memory use and performance.

The search doesn't do anything, the video I saw him load angry birds with no mention of dungeon defenders. Although I asked if anyone tried it, not if there were videos of it. The game runs smooth on my SGS in single player, but in multiplayer it can get really laggy. He just showed that it boots fast pretty much.

First one... My point was single player vs multiplayer on dungeon defenders is way different on the SGS phones (which are listed as "mid range" for their specs, and the only thing better is Tegra2s).
It's not essential, I just can't find much info any where on the net about it (then again it's hard to find as typing "dungeon defenders sensation" brings up tons of forums that discuss both dungeon defenders and sensations but separately) and I have read the SGS2 (which isn't really an option for me, but I am presuming the Hercules will be similar) has problems with gaming. I don't think that will persuade me one way or the other but figured I would just drop the question in a gameplay thread.
I like the qHD screen, but I love my amoled... The benchmark comparisons is sort of worrisome as well, but I might end up with a sensation either way, as long as the bootloader gets unlocked.
I am on stock 2.3.6. I installed 1.2 apk and it really lags alot.
Xperia play unrooted and stock seems to play it quite smoothly, nexus S is more powerful so surely it should run smooth??
I have the same problem and I also like to know how to fix it.. The game runs reaply badly for my usual gaming habits. I use Matrix kernel @ 1.46GHz and the latest CM9 nightly. I get really high bench scores for 4.0.3 and overall performance kicks the ass of my friends' stock Galaxy SII I-9100.

I have generally found the general section to be most responsive. That method you are saying is via root and I am not rooted.
I always played it on mute anyway, and after deleting the audio files i got a massive jump in performance (audio was being processed even with volume at 0). Personal preference, but a noticeable fps jump.
So I guess the game isnt optimized for powerVR?? It seems to run fine on adreno 205, this is disappointing.
I mainly want to play it for the nostalgic bit and the audio is really important part of it.
The nostalgia value of my GTA3 experience was with a sound bug that forced the rain to play constantly. Not really the highlight of the game for me
The sound on the Nexus S seems kind of delayed and i've noticed many games that slow down a little as sounds are meant to kick in. I don't know exactly why, maybe mediaserver isn't given good enough priority. This seems to be the same issue that plagued my GTA3 adventures though.

perhaps being rooted is the reason I have yet to experience the problems you describe. I play gta and games which are more graphic intensive than gta with np.
I don't think the processor is to blame for your inability to play the game. The ns processors have proven to be more than capable of handling most processes. Rather, the stock software does not allow the hardware to reach its full potential. In other words, the nexus s is a peacock you; you've got to let it fly.

I havent experienced lag in any other game and I have played a few. Asphalt 6 runs smooth as well.
And btw my audio runs perfect and never stutters.
I saw youtube video of overclocked nexus S running GTA3 and even that had performance issues.
just install 1.3, i used to have major lag on 1.2 on my nexus s but on 1.3 i have no lag. Huge improvement!

renaming the "audio" folder into "audio1" made the game much much smoother. i don't mind the missing sound. But isn't there a way to make it run even better? i still experience some massive lag problems...
Huge gain in performance by deleting the Audio folder. Thanks for the tip, now I can enjoy this game.

If you honestly think that your quadrant score makes your phone with a single A8 cortex core faster than two A9 cores there is something seriously wrong with you. Software tweaks can make up to 1% difference in actual performance.

Just did that and you got me excited as there was no lag in the opening cutscene. But it was back as soon as I started driving.
The sad part is I thought I wouldnt care about the game as the controls would be really bad but they arent that bad, it's very much playable but the performance is the issue.

I don't think the tablet being too weak for games would be correct. This tablet has the cpu/gpu to run them. There is something else that is keeping games from having full compatibility or smoothness with this tablet. You can search and find theories from game developers being too lazy to properly code or there being an underlining issue with Tegra3 chips that Nvidia never addressed but was supposedly working on a patch for. More likely it's the high resolution of the screen which we all ready know causes a performance hit. I don't see that as being week since it is giving us a beautiful picture when using the tablet for various tasks. For those running a custom rom, is there the option to lower the resolution of the screen for extra performance?
To the original poster, not make it sound like you don't know what your tablet is doing, but are you running anything in the background or accidentally have battery saver set? I will try downloading this game and see what I get performance wise. I'm running a fresh stock install of 4.1 firmware.
----------
No problems for me running the game on stock firmware 4.1. Ran it in both performance and balanced mode.
Also im on cromi-x 4.5 with hunds 3.0.6 kernel today, running close to smooth with hunds kernel app that sets the cpu/gpu for games. Sadly i cant run the game on medium setting because the app wont save the settings after game relaunches
Edit: got it to change

I stated that the tf700 is too weak for this game.
I agree that the tf700 has got the potential to be a game perfomer, but unfortunately it ain't.
You elaborated the reasons for this and I think you're right.
Yet, we are not living in theories but in reality where game developers skip our device
(I tried to address some of them asking for a fix, but to no avail).
Here is an example of a correspondence I had with Get Set games inc.:
"Dear Dev,
My almost 2 year old daughter is mad about Mega Run (which she keep calling "Monkey Circles").
I am an old fan of Mega Run and Mega Jump too.
The issue is that the game's graphics are not optimised for the 10 inch screen of the Asus Infinity (TF700).
Therefore the graphics are a bit blurry.
I would appreciate it if you could help me find a solution for what I have described,
or maybe issue a version that will be optimised for our tf700's screen.
Hope my request will be considered since as I have written, we love your application.
Thanks with advance and keep up the good work.

Thanks for getting in contact with us and for the feedback. It is great to hear that you and your daughter have been enjoying Mega Run. We have just release Mega Run on Android, and with that release we chose to only have one set of graphics at a medium/high resolution. The reason we chose to do this is that most Android devices fit this resolution very well. In the future, we hope to have higher resolution graphics for tablets such as the Asus Infinity.
Sorry for the inconvenience,

IMHO - this is not a standard machine... I should have learned this sooner (before I purchased it).
Anyways, the TF700 has it's strong areas: great device for playing all kinds of media and even some games.
The mSD slot is awesome and all in all I enjoy it.
It runs fairly well, actually. Frankly, it runs smoother than Skyrim ever did on my PC. (That game used to literally freeze every 2 steps to re-render the scene. Crappy coding from Bethesda... As per bloody usual.)

You could've known the game would be blurry. Games are made with the 'hyped' devices in mind: The Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy S3. Which both run 1280x800, as opposed to 'our' 1920x1200.. (Quite a significant size increase.)
Anything with a higher resolution is a HD version, and specifically has HD listed behind it. ('Angry Birds HD'.)
Give it +-six months. Then, the SGS4 and the Note 3 will be the top devices alongside the HTC One and the potential new Nexus. And developers will have no other choice but to finally make games and apps in HD.

I agree with you that eventually 1920x1080 will be a common resolution for Android devices, but I still believe Tegra 3 is too weak to run those games at full HD resolution (all Full HD devices I know have either a Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600 to power that many pixels). I have seen quite a few games that lag miserably on my tf700, even if it is optimized for Tegra. Example, Beach Buggy Blitz (running at max setting of this game is a big no-no on my tf700).
As for Skyrim, I really have no complaint about frame drop and stuttering, it runs quite smoothly on my laptop. Nevertheless, given the diversity of PC hardware, it could just be that I was lucky to have fully compatible hardware.
I don't agree : Dungeon Hunter 4 is very laggy on my tab and i am not playing that game anymore due to that issue. But i have played many hours to The Bard's Tale and it worked nearly perfectly (it would lag only when a lot of characters and huge effects, that means about 10 seconds every 4 hours) and bard's tale is imo more beautiful than dh4 and still it was developed in 2012 when hd screens were very rare. So imo the dh4 lag issue comes from poor design and programming.

It's primarily the I/O issue, not the Tegra 3.
The problem is that games are optimized for snapdragons because that's what the hyped, common-cattle owned devices (SGS3/4 & GT2) run.
SoulCraft THD: Perfectly.
SHADOWGUN THD: Perfectly.
Samurai II: Vengeance THD: Perfectly.
Puddle THD: Perfectly.
Zombie Driver THD: Perfectly.
Renaissance Blood THD: Runs well.
The Bard's Tale: Fine.
N.O.V.A. 3: Some issue with green images in main menu/intro, Game itself runs fine.
So no, it's not the Tegra 3. It's lazy developers and crap engines.

It's since been fixed in the patches. The issue occured during the first 3 updates (including vanilla base.). At one point I had backwards flying dragons that spun around breathing fire in mid air and stopped every few seconds as the game froze and unfroze  The engine Skyrim runs on is 12 years old, and instead of using a clean version they retasked the Fallout one with all the coding still cluttering it.
The main fault in this tablet is the i/o. Everything else is perfectly big enough to run the screen. With such crappy i/o, the tablet cannot cache applications at a rate needed, especially for files made for Full HD screens. This can be solved with a B2R tpye script or Data2SD. With Data2SD, even on a pretty cheap card, the tablet runs much much smoother. This is why the browser on stock runs so terribly. The internal i/o cant cache it fast enough. So, the Tega 3 is more then enough of power, but the problem is the i/o, which can only even start to be tweaked by unlocking/rooting, but even then there is no fix.

The main fault in this tablet is the i/o. Everything else is perfectly big enough to run the screen. With such crappy i/o, the tablet cannot cache applications at a rate needed, especially for files made for Full HD screens.

GPU performance has nothing to do with I/O.
I/O is slow for random writes, yes - but games usually don't write a lot to storage. The GPU is slow because it is simply not very powerful. See here:

With good programming, it can drive the full HD screen with acceptable framerate (see Epic Citadel), but apparently not every engine is so well optimized.

The tf700 is too weak for this game (and others...).

I notice the Nook HD+ that also has a 1080p display seems to play games smoother than the 700. Performance is about in between the 700 and 300, with the 300 being better overall.
The 4470 gpu is more robust for higher def displays and has dual channel memory, but a dual core. I would have expected the net result to be a wash, but does seem the dual channel memory might be the difference.
For game emulators though that are cpu heavy like MAMEreloaded, the Nook is a little faster. Gets hot in the bottom right corner though.
horrible
Yeah i tried this game. Changed graphics settings in game to lowest and had performance mode on and it still lagged like crazy. Not really my kind of game to begin with so it didn't upset me too badly, but i would have expected more from such a high end tablet.
I have uninstalled the game today : too laggy and i still believe that its code is bad (bard's tale is so much smoother on my same tab)

I know this is a bit of an old thread, I just not stumbled upon it. I've been using cromi-x for quite some time, and on earlier versions I didn't have much issue until I got into higher levels where more monsters generated, then it would lag briefly and go back to normal. As of lately I haven't even been able to play the game. I've played a few other games that seem to have similar features and get zero lag. Though I'm not a coder or developer, I feel that this is a issue with the game itself combined with i/o limitations of our tablet. SDBags has done some amazing work on his rom. I've tried all sorts of kernel and tweak combinations, none of which seem to correct the issue. To make the issue worse I was level 42 and lost my entire game and $40 worth of purchases that gameloft has yet to refund me. That, of course doesn't have anything to do with the laggy issue. I thought I would bump the thread to see if anyone else has come up with anything.
Hey Geeks,
Recently my friend purchased this phone but is facing ridiculous lag while trying to play "Nova 3", truely speaking this game is not playable at all. Even the game videos that come in between stages tend to lag. While i saw couple of gaming review videos where Nova 3 Runs smoothly on this phone except for one user who was also facing heavy lags. My friend got this phone couple days back and there is no software update avaialble for the phone as of now. Spec wise, phone should be able to run this game flawlessly as even xiaomi phones with meditek processor clocked lower are able to run this game smoothly.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest some solution for that.
please clarify if Problem is with the handset itself or some software update screwed it or some tweaking is required to rage CPU to be able to handle this game smoothly.
FYI:Its a 16GB internal, 2GB Ram Version
Regards
Can I have some reply please

Play it on your 1+1?
There's no custom kernels out for oc support so no way to boost performance. I would clear recents and before playing or maybe a full restart to clear out your ram. Re-install app?
Star Wars uprising runs pretty good on my moto g3... few hiccups but overall pretty good.
I don't think overlooking is required at all coz Cpu seems capable enough as I already mentioned that lower spec xiaomi phone can run this game without lag ?
