i've looked through tons of threads and can't figure this out so i thought i'd ask. i rooted my friends galaxy s captivate 2.2 froyo and unlocked his sim flawless with one click. now the sim he has from his gophone says "sim crash" call support etc....when booting up. is a gophone sim not compatible? i've read on ONE thread out of 50 that it isn't, so what prepaid sim's can he use? straight talk and gophone's are the only one's with service in our rural area. i appreciate any help. thanks very much.
we just tried my verizon plan phone sim and it didn't work. i didn't even know verizon had a sim until that point.
It is saying so, that SIM card is crashed because your phone has not unlocked properly. Try to put another SIM or if not work get it unlocked properly but it is definitely a problem because you have not unlocked your phone properly.

Ive only ran into the "sim crash" issue back when I wroked for att. Right before I stopped working there att started locking the sims for a set period for gophones that came with credit to cut loses from people getting the credit & reselling the phone etc. A new sim may resolve th issue.
If the phone/uSIM is activated on Sprint and working, what happens if you put in another uSIM from AT&T (or T-Mobile) ?
Is only the AT&T (or T-Mobile) uSIM active and only voice data work with this new uSIM phone number?
I want to use this one phone to switch between Sprint and AT&T. As it sounds like the Sprint portion of the CDMA is activated without the uSIM.
I don't want a missmash of both with there is another AT&T sim in there..?
thanks
I'm not sure what you are really looking to do. But I have sprint and activated my phone on sprint. I then wanted to test out T-Mobile so I bought a prepaid sim starter kit. I just reactivated another phone on my sprint account and then popped in the T-Mobile sim and activated the phone on their network and it now it has the T-Mobile number and data services active.

So can you go between Sprint and T-Mobile service by, powering off the phone, inserting the different uSIM, powering on, then its 100% active CDMA/LTE or GSM/LTE?
I want to be be able to switch between Sprint and AT&T, by just swapping SIMs. I have read the uSIM isn't used in the authentication of the Nexu5 phone...?
Anyone else done this yet?
I'm curious as I read that you have register the phone on Sprint network aswell as using their SIM for LTE.
If using another non-Sprint SIM, is it still going to be on the Sprint network aswell as the non-Sprint network?
To activate and use data on sprint you need to have a sprint sim. Once activated if you take out the sim all you have is voice. If you put in an att/tmo sim it will automatically load up a default apn and connect. Sprint service is not available while the att sim is in place.
If using an mvno like straight talk just add or edit the apn to the correct settings.
When done with att pull the sim and put sprint back in. Reboot and you are back on sprint.

Thanks, thats what I wasn't sure about, whether putting in an AT&T would prevent the phone connecting to Sprint Voice.
My Sprint SIM is on order, so I haven't activated it on their network yet.

The sim is used but you have to call or chat to activate. Hopefully at some point sprint will end this part and just tie the sim to the account so we can swap between sprint phones without activation. Once activated yes you can swap between sprint, att and tmo simply by swapping sims.

Any sprint repair center should now have sims on hand and know what they are for.
Google voice integration for sprint is great for this type of thing. one number for multiple carriers on a single phone. nice...
Got it all working now, with both a Sprint SIM and an AT&T SIM.
The only downside is when I open hangouts, it asks me to verify/skip the phone number on each swap.
I mostly use AT&T for work, Sprint is my home cell that I hardly use.
Hi guys, for those of you that have activated on Sprint, does Sprint charge an activation fee ($36?) when you activate the Nexus 5 on your existing line? Thanks!

Thanks! so you just ask Sprint to mail you a uSIM card for the LTE service right?

Yep, just call the international customer service, tell them you need a micro SIM for a nexus5.
I would think this would be such a major feature and selling point. A phone that can jump between almost all major carriers. I don't know of any other single phone that can do this?

i have a rooted Note 2 T899 (tmoblie model) i am using straight talk tmoble sim and its working fine i got an unlock code from tmoblie for my phone and it said unlock unsucessful but after restarting it no longer shows invaid sim with my new att sim card so im asuming its unlocked since it detacts and recognizes my att sim now and it shows full bars but i have no data (i have a only data plan no talk)
Ive also tried a friends verion sim and it doesnt get data either.
Any ideas how to get AT&T to work?
Hello, I just bought a verizon Samsung Galaxy s7. I am a net10 customer, so to use the phone i purchased the byop kit and inserted the verizon compatible chip and then i go to register the phone with net10, and it says it cant do it, to contact customer service. So I called them and they said that for some reason the imei wont register manually, and that i have to call verizon and see if it was locked. So i called verizon and they said according to the imei i gave them it isnt locked, and that verizon doesnt even lock 4g lte devices. but no matter what i do i cannot get the phone to register with imei. I have even tried strait talk. Another thing to note is that on the verizon website, the s7 isnt listed as compatible device for a byop plan.
So theres no one i can call to have anything unlocked, i cant get my money back from net10, after i called net10 customer service back and told them that verizon said it wasnt locked, net10 CS then stated that the phone wasnt compatible on their network.
A verizon tech said he sometimes has problems registering phone imei's. He said sometimes it goes through, and sometimes you have to keep trying. I really have no clue of what type of process is happening here...
So, i took out the verizon compatible sim, and put in the att/unlocked gsm device sim and then registered that through net10. it actually went through, I now have a phone number and i have basic data, but i cannot send or receive mms. I used the APN settings i found somewhere on the internet for ATT network as they are the only ones that work so far..
The other problem i have is that my phone says the sim isnt from verizon, which im assuming i can just flash the "u" version of the rom to take care of? But am i hoping there is a way to make my phone work in their network so that i can use the intended sim card.
So with all that said I have a couple questions.
1. Why wont my phones imei register on the carrier networks?
2. If i cant get it to register on their networks, is there any way to at least get my mms working?
I find it very strange that no one else has had this problem. I cant find any information as to why the s7's arent part of the byop yet.
Thanks in Advance!
I'm having problems attempting to activate my Galaxy S8+ with Verizon Prepaid. My S8+ was originally with AT&T but I have it unlocked and I have flashed the unlocked firmware to my device. I have contacted Verizon and they get to the part of activating my phone using the IMEI and the SIM card's number when they say that the IMEI isn't working for them when I give them the correct numbers but the SIM card is fine. Does anyone know whats going wrong or could help me out with this.
Activate the sim in another Verizon phone first then swap sim to s8
If this activating in another phone and switching it over doesnt work what else should i possibly do?
