[Q] Tether app for non-rooted Sprint Gal S5 phone - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

She lives in another state so I can't root her phone. I have looked in the Playstore and many are listed but none that I tried worked. There are also scam apps up there that want you to pay for something that does not work and you will not get you money back.

is my Samsung Galaxy S 4G modified ?

I have a samsung GalaxyS 4G SGH-T959V Prepaid with Tmobile. I got it from a 3rd party dealer that was used apparently cause when I got home i noticed the Ime doesnt match the Number on my box.
Anyways, Im able to use my phone as a hotspot without paying the $15 a month on the prepaid plan. I think its the phone and not my account or sim. cause i took out the sim and tried it on a blackberry bold and when i did the hotspot and tried going on to a website on the computer. it redirected me to Tmobiles site that I need to pay and all that.
Anyways How am I getting by with this on the Samsung Galaxy ? was there a software or firmware download that gave it the ability to do this ? cause i didnt change anything ? not complaining that I can use my phone as a hotspot for free. Just want to know how im getting by with this and want to know if there is some kinda download or hack required for it incase I want to change phones.
I want to know if you can get by with this as well on the Samsung GalaxyS 2 cause thats the phone I want to upgrade to

I think your phone is not modified at all and there is no firmware/software/hack to solve this problem so in fact you can't change phones because the problem is not with your phone but network/provider authentication they use an algorithm based on IMEI no. and this changes when you put SIM in another phone
also check if IMEI no on phone matches number on papers bill/warranty

but when I put in the sim on my black berry and tried the hotspot, it didnt work cause im not paying the $15. when i put it back in my Samsung I tried the Hotspot again and no problemo.
and I got the phone from some authorized dealer, no paperwork signed or any of that. just handed me the box with a print out receipt no bigger than a receipt you would get from a cash register at walmart.
My phone does the exact same thing, but mines not prepaid and i dont pay the 15$ extra, it lets you do it because they dont have restrictions on it, but if you start to use up alot of space and memory they will block it.

Is anyone on here a verizon T2 technical support agent ?

Is anyone on here a verizon T2 technical support agent ? Asking because I have had issues with softcard not working on my verizon m8 for over a month now. Between verizon t2 support and softcard no one can figure out the problem. Softcard keeps blaming verizon claiming an ims registration problem with verizon. Softcard has terminated my softcard account a bunch of times then they say for me to hit create a new account but the softcard app always says no 3g or 4g connection but if I hit login it will tell me my password is incorrect so it accesses data just fine that way, also going under reset password it will ask me questions I never chose to set up so once again can accessdata that way also just not to create an account.
Also I even tried another verizon m8 I bought off ebay that is s-off also and it does the exact same thing. Verizon and softcard claim that the droid turbo has these same issues with softcard but verizon says they do not really know of the m8 having these issues.
One other thing I would get a superuser request by something verizon I would always decline wondering could that decline cause this. I tried reflashing my viperone rom and I could not get the verizon superuser request again as I figured I would agree and see if it fixed the issue even if verizon can tell I"am rooted which I really dont care if they do but I"am not going to say it because they will blame it not working on my phone being rooted.
I have also tried two other roms one being stock and softcard does the same on the other two roms also.
Just wondering if a verizon T2 tech support guy could give me any advice because one on here wont care that I"am rooted s-off and maybe they can tell me what to try or what could be the issue.
It worked on my original phone but I had an insurance replacement when I lost my phone and its brand new works perfectly, and as I said I tried another m8 rooted s-off and it does the exact same on it.
Softcard claimed a 4glte advanced calling update that was to be available last thursday the 11th was supposed to fix the issue, but that update was for the droid turbo and not for the verizon m8 as they told me it would fix my m8 well duh softcard as I told them over and over I have a verizon m8 not a droid turbo.
Any verizon T2 support agent care to give any advice on the issue ?
What was your original phone it did work with
Edit: I use to do t2 and phone testing but I left a bit ago. Also was the original phone rooted as well

With a Play Store updatethis week I got a pop-up saying: "Softcard is not compatable with rooted phones"
I'm completely back to stock, after getting my 4.4.2 unlocked/S-Off , and root.

Mine does not pick up root as I use root cloak through xposed. You have to use root cloak to hide root from the softcard app. I have found that installing root cloak through the xposed app works best.
A couple different error codes I have gotten over the past month plus, one was one error code cant remember which where they had me replace my sim which my first sim was for nfc, after this one and the latest is Please wait while we restore your account error 11081 which it never does. Also sometimes after they would terminate my softcard account they would have me create a new account and it would have me enter my email and password 2 times then would have me enter a 4 digit pin them it would show softcard is reloading with a curser like deal going in a circle which would go on and on and on and then go to the 3025 error.

[Q] flashing to t-mobile?

Heyo
Recently bought an S3 for the main purpose of using it with softcard (the t-mobile and verizon versions are supported). I have a T-mobile SIM and from what I've read it should work without any modifying. However, softcard wants to be a stick in the mud and is not even letting me download it from google play because it's "not compatible".
I've tried changing the build.prop to the t-mobile S3, but that didn't do anything.
Is there a t-mobile rom that needs to be flashed?
If it's a VZW S3 do not flash a rom from the T-Mobile variant, you will hard brick it. As far as flashing to T-Mobile I'm not truly sure how that works
From my S3 running BlissStalk

Duly noted.
After trying to replace (to) the original build file, it went FUBAR. I ended up re-flashing CM 11. Made sure to make a fresh backup this time.
Any suggestions for at least getting the app to see if it will even load? or masking the device/product/whatnot?
(It's really odd; despite the fact that it's a qualified verizon phone, the verizon version of softcard does not show up in the store. IE. it says it's not compatible.)

Something must have gotten "through" with one or more of the various things I tried since a few different devices showed up in device manager (like an HTC something which I have never used). I don't know if market helper was any help or not considering all it did was freeze.
I'm going to try copying the verizon version apk from another phone I can get it on, to the S3, and see if it will open....either with the t-mobile sim or a verizon one.

[Q] Ugh. Setting up wireless tether again.

Sorry if this is a duplication of effort or information.
GS6 Pingpong rooted. Root verified.
I have tried several Wireless Tether apps. I have not gotton any of them to broadcast an ssid.
Anyone have this working? I would just about switch roms if someone had it working natively on the Sprint GS6.
I had it working on my evo 4g and most recently on my moto x which I did not realize was as expensive to fix as to repurchase.
Any assistance appreciated.
Have you tried the built in "Mobile hotspot and tethering" under settings? I haven't really used it but I was able to turn it on and connect without any problems.

I guess my thought in rooting was to get free hotspot. It's something I've been able to do for years now.

I have AT&T and it's too soon to tell if it raised any flags with them. The way I understand it, it's no easier or harder for them to tell if you're tethering using the native tethering or a 3rd-party app. (I could be wrong about that.) I've used both in the past but I've only ever used tethering occasionally, though, no matter what phone I've had and I've never got any notices from them.

So you have AT&T and you're saying you used the Ping Pong root method which then immediately allows you to use it as a wifi tethering hotspot? I have AT&T as well and for the past 2 years have used my rooted S4 on stock 4.2.2 rom to use the native tethering under Settings and it works fantastic. I'd much rather stick with this method and I've never had an issue raising a flag with AT&T. I think I remember when I added the wifi tethering option using the native hotspot I added or changed a couple of apk files somewhere. Just followed a step by step tutorial.
I've been holding out on buying the S6 because wifi tethering via root without AT&T approved data plan is very important to me. If you can confirm I will go out and get the S6 immediately. Thanks!
BTW I haven't looked at how the Ping Pong Root is done exactly but was it pretty easy? I'm a very novice user and I love to follow step by step tutorials that is tried and true and 'beginner proof', especially for carrier specific phone. If I go out and buy a new AT&T S6 the root loophole hasn't been plugged up yet by AT&T? I'm excited now, been waiting a long time to upgrade my plasticky S4 to a true quality device.

Sorry, I should have specified: I have AT&T service but I'm NOT running the AT&T rom. I got tired of how bad AT&T screws up these phones so I bought an international S6 and put my AT&T sim card in it. I'm running a stock rom but it's not the one that would come on the phone if you buy it from AT&T.
To answer your other question, PingPong Root is pretty easy. If you follow the instructions you shouldn't have any problems, novice or not.

Ah ok. So do you have the G920F or the G920I? Where did you buy it from? I'd be interested in getting one myself just that they're kinda pricey to buy outright. How has the LTE signal been with AT&T?
And yea I found a step by step walk through on the Ping Pong root complete with pictures.

Sorry for the delayed response. I have the G920F. I got it on eBay for around $600. You're right, it was kind of pricey but I used AT&T Next to get my S5 and ultimately, it was cheaper to buy my S6 outright than to what I'm paying over time for my S5. Plus I'm tired of AT&T locking down my phone. I've been on the Galaxy since the S3 and each phone has been more locked down than the last and it always seems to limit what I want to do with the phone. So this time I was willing to pay a little extra to have the freedom to do whatever I want with it. And this way, when I am ready to sell the phone and get a new one, I'll have an unlocked international version, which will probably be worth a little more on the re-sale than a locked-down AT&T version.
My LTE signal has been fine. Before I got my phone I had read a few posts from people who said their G920F kept dropping LTE on AT&T 'cause the system wasn't recognizing it correctly. So as soon as I got the phone I went to the AT&T store and had them trim the SIM card from my S5 into a micro-SIM for the S6. (The guy behind the counter had a tool that did it perfectly.) Then I had them enter the IMEI number from the phone into my account. I don't know if either of those steps made a difference but I haven't had any trouble with LTE service, aside from the fact that AT&T's service sucks around both my house and my office!

not able to Bill my Verizon account in app store

OK I called Verizon they transferred me to Google two different times back and forth. I cannot buy a app and charge it to my bill, only a credit card. I have been rooted in all my phone's for years. Always worked. Verizon says I have credit no blocks on account. I'm on PN, rooted, AdAway, substratum theme, could any of this cause this. And does it have anything to do with the vendor image. And weird thing is Google play says im certified, which usually doesn't when I'm rooted. Anyone have any thoughts what I should try?
