It won''t work. You'll get bootloops until you flash the correct model rom onto your device...
Even though the hardware is basically the same Samsung made different models so they didn't get the backlash from region locking their handsets like they got with the Note 3....-

[Q] How can I flash a different country firmware?

Hello guys!
I like cm roms very much, but I can't flash any cm 11 rom because my phone is from china, Samsung have update your phone to 4.2.2,but not the devices in china. As you know,cm 11 won't work on 4.1.2. I fell very very sad about this:crying:.
I try to flash a different country Firmware(4.2.2) through odin3. but it did't work.I know your phone can do this.....:crying: I just want to know why? Is it because my phone's bootloader is locked?
Many friends of mine are also want to flash cm 11....but we can only use cm10.1......:crying:
Baseband:
I9105pzcami1
Andriod vertion:
4.1.2
PLZZ help me and my friends....
(PS:sorry for my bad English)
Have you tried flash cm 11 directly from 4.1 bootloader??,may it works most dev write on their op to use 4.2 bootloader, but none tried and tell us may it works too with 4.1bootloader
Edit#
Or you mayvtry this cm10.1 build from @LuK1337 which stabler and more fluid, say thanks to him

You should only flash "PDA" and not have the "Re-partition" option ticked. For flashing official firmware, follow the guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428753
Also, flashing Note2 firmware on an S2 Plus is probably not a very good idea.
thanks

oh ,I‘m so sorry,I think my poor English makes you misunderstood, the screenshot isn't of mine...I mean my case is just similar to the picture,I'm sure I flashed a s2vep rom..I tried just flash PDA too...I think it is because my phone's bootloader is locked that what makes the failure..:crying:
I have tried many many methods according to the internet....someone said that I should use mobile odin pro app,but this app won't work in s2vep...I almost feel desperate about this ,I think it's time to buy a new phone...
PS:I can successfully flash an offical 4.1.2 rom...
It's impossible...download 4.2 official stock firmware...use the link given by AmoledIsBetter, follow steps, make sure u use the right firmware for ur phone (P version or no P version), and if something goes wrong come here with screenshots from ODIN. If all its OK u can flash CM11 easy...
Never heard of a locked bootloader on a S2 Plus.
Silly question maybe, but are you using the correct Samsung USB drivers for your PC? Did you flash CM 10.1 from the same PC previously?
Which 4.2.2 file are you trying to flash? I know that many have flashed I9105PXXUBNG1 from Germany.
Is your device genuine Samsung?
I think you are still factory locked. (Still locked to a carrier)
Something I read in a thread in past couple of days is that if it's a Chinese handset they can have their own drivers, so search for them, rest of the world drivers may only part work.

Simple answer, no...
We would need to get some development done to port it to our phones.

It seems that different model numbers need specific roms. You can't flash a 915f rom on my 915G, tried and just get reboots. It is something that stops it working, whether its the CSC, build.prop or bootloader I don't know...

Flash a G930F Rom on a G930K SGS7?

Hello everybody,
I'm looking for the answer of my question but I still didn't find it. I live in Hong Kong and I bought a SGS7 from Korea, the model is SM-G930K. The phone is unlocked but there are bloatwares from the carrier and I can't remove the sound of the camera on this model.
That's why I was wondering if I could use an international rom like from the SM-G930F? I wanted to try but I'm afraid of bricking the phone. The SM-G930K from Korea is also a Exynios version, so I really hope I can flash it with an international rom.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I made a mistake! How move the topic to the questions and answers section?
G930K user here, too. Yes you can, but directly flashing G930F firmware through odin is not possible due to difference in partition sizes. Still, you can flash custom ROMs which can be installed through TWRP(e.g. Superman ROM).

But custom ROMs have to mention G930K or not? Or just a classic custom ROMs from G930F is ok?
I remember, a long time ago, may be before Android, I edited the ROM just with an hexadecimal app, and I could change the model and some stuff. We can't do something like this neither?

Just flash G930F ROMs, it doesn't matter whether G930K support is mentioned or not. No need to edit anything.

Isn't it what the re-partition option for?
Sorry to bump an old thread, but that't the clearest discussion I've found so far regarding flashing on the K variant.
I'm asking this for the S7E though (G935K > G935F) and everyone on the other forum says that it is just impossible to do anything on the K version ( which seems weird to me since the hardware is exactly the same and root/TWRP work fine).

I made a research during few weeks about that, and it's still not clear. I have also read that the modem is faster than the classic S7. But I have not found a loud and clear answer.
Until someone try to flash a G930F rom on a G930F phone, we won't know.

Hi. Apparently you cannot. If you want another rom, you have to install an alternative recovery, root your phone, and install a custom rom.
Anyone found clear answer?

Hi. No you cannot. Check my previous message, the only way is to install custom rom.
Those devices have same hardware. But the partition sizes are different. If you want to know, just flash custom recovery (TWRP) to your korean S7 and flash LineageOS or RR. Because all of them suggested our devices as well like this: (G930 F|W8|K|L|S). It will fail when you try to flash it by recovery. Because Galaxy S7's Korean variant's partition sizes are different from international and canadian S7s. There was one guide to flash AOSP ROMs to Korean S7's. There will be guide to resize of partitions on ROM's installation. But all commands are needs Linux Based OS, but not Android. I was tried it by Termux on my Galaxy S7. ext2simg command was still not available on Android's terminal . Others was available... so sad. And python codes are so simple to run. One day I will try it on Linux Based OS'd PC.

Not fine. But our devices have same hardware (F = W8 = K = L = S). Only the partition sizes are different. You just need to flash custom recovery (TWRP) then choose custom rom what you want for your S7. I'm suggesting SuperMan ROM and BatMan ROM. They are so stable, and clean. BatMan ROM was not fully stable on my G930K. Then I tried SuperMan ROM's clean, stock installation method on AROMA. It was really clean and Stable on my G930K. Try it bro :fingers-crossed: all of them TouchWiz interfaced. If you want try AOSP, you need to resize your partition sizes by this guide.
Is it possible that I install twrp to install smg930fd firmware in my smg930s Samsung s7 and uninstall twrp after doing this ?

A few questions

Hey guys! So I have a few questions about the oneplus one here, I'm checking for a friend and I always had a nexus where matching firmware doesn't really matter much. So here they are.
1) What happens if you have the wrong firmware for a rom? Softbrick? Hardbrick? Nothing at all?
2) For a Nougat rom, what firmware do you use? Since this phone hasn't got an official firmware update for Nougat yet.
3) Is there a special recovery here on XDA that can flash all roms? (there was one for the oneplus two) or is TWRP good for all roms?
What confuses me the most about oneplus devices is how the firmware works different from most Android devices. Thanks guys!

Thanks! So it's not as important as it seems? I notice some roms here on XDA specifically say to have the newest firmware, or a certain version. The rom is still expected to boot? And what's the worst case scenario? A soft brick that can be easily fixed with TWRP or something worse? Thanks for the reply! Like I said, I'm coming from a Nexus 6 where none of this firmware stuff really applies

Yes the rom is a still expected to boot, though, the recommended frimware is to be used so as to avoid any bugs.
However, some roms do require the recommended frimware in order to boot but I don't think even if flash any rom which needs recommended frimware will take you in any kind of brick condition as when you flash a rom on incompatible frimware you'll see error in Twrp,if so happens you just need to have recommended frimware in your storage and flash it then flash the rom again and you'll not face any errors.
Good luck!

1. If you are using TWRP, nothing will happens. Because when you flash a ROM, TWRP will comparing your phone model with build.prop on the targeted ROM. Because based on my experience, somehow i download LineageOS for d802 and flash it to my bacon. TWRP gives an error and didn't flash any firmware. I don't know about CWM or other recovery
2. I'm using Lineage OS. It's pretty good so far. No bug or whatever
3. TWRP is good for all ROM. i think any recovery will do

You can flash China ROM on an Indian variant, or Global (Indian) ROM on a Chinese variant only if bootloader is unlocked. Make sure you check the option "Clean all" in Mi Flash Tool.
Never use the option that says "Clean all and lock" because you may brick your device.

I think once you have unlocked the bootloader, you may be able to lock it using either ROM versions. But I would advise against this because, at least in theory, this shouldn't be the case. When it comes to locking bootloaders, you always need to flash the original firmware of that device variant. I suspect they may have used some other tool to manage this, but I can't really say for sure how they did it. I could try to do the same via Mi Flash Tool just for the sake of experimenting, but it's the only device I have, and I can't risk bricking it.
