a couple of questions regarding Note 7 Pro versions - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hello
I just bought N7PRO Chinese version and I have a couple of questions :
1-The device already has a global miui stock rom..is this normal?
2-And if I want to flash the indian/global version of the rom, will it be a problem?
3-Can I flash all custom MIUI and non-Miui roms? i mean every ROM for N7PRO? Or is there a specific problem or thing that I neee to know about?
Thanks a lot in advance..

I have no idea ?
It came with a chinese RN7Pro Box, I did buy it used though, but the person I bought it from doesn't really know about BL unlocking and switching ROMs, and the phone was locked
Which makes me wonder, is it ok if I flash the Chinese variant on an Indian unit (or vice versa) with the option flash all and lock in the mi flash app?

I don't think you could change variant and lock the bootloader but you can flash global on chinese or chinese on global and use it as a daily driver, keep in mind though you cant lock bootloader and you have to use a custom recovery. Btw the guy whom you bought was indian or chinese ??

You can flash China ROM on an Indian variant, or Global (Indian) ROM on a Chinese variant only if bootloader is unlocked. Make sure you check the option "Clean all" in Mi Flash Tool.
Never use the option that says "Clean all and lock" because you may brick your device.

But if I decided to sell this phone and lock the bootloader, how could I know for sure which variant to flash?

I think once you have unlocked the bootloader, you may be able to lock it using either ROM versions. But I would advise against this because, at least in theory, this shouldn't be the case. When it comes to locking bootloaders, you always need to flash the original firmware of that device variant. I suspect they may have used some other tool to manage this, but I can't really say for sure how they did it. I could try to do the same via Mi Flash Tool just for the sake of experimenting, but it's the only device I have, and I can't risk bricking it.

Global/Custom ROM on CN device

Hi XDA.
As there is currently no global version of Mix 3, i wanted to import it with CN ROM, however, i stumbled upon an article saying that you will no longer be able to use Global roms on CN devices and vice versa.
This greatly worries me, as i would much prefer not to be stuck with CN firmware. Hence my question to people that are more experienced, and perhaps know something that i do not.
If i buy CN version, will i be able to somehow flash Global/xiaomi.eu/any other custom ROM anyway?
Thanks for any response!

Never had an issue with previous unlocked xiaomi phones on global rom.
As long as it passes safety net with magisk it will work

Yes that's correct. For security reasons didn't want to keep my bootloader unlock.
Thanks for the feedback!
I am just curious, isn't it possible to re-lock bootloader(i think i you would need to reflash xiaomi recovery for that)? And regarding xiaomi.eu rom, they advertise it with:
SafetyNet passed (Google Pay)
Play Store Certified
Well, i have never used gpay in the past, and i suppose it would not be a deal breaker if i could not now, but it would be certainly nice to try it out.

If you wanna stay on stock ROM, just use MiFlash (check the "clean all" option on the bottom) and fastboot ROM for Global version you wanna use. You don't need custom recovery.

Please note MIUI.EU and EU region firmware is difference. MIUI.EU based in global firmware code MI. EU region is EEA with EU firmware code. don't get it wrong.
1. Miui.eu is better for me with less bloatware and still keep miui feature. Use since mi 6x and old poco f1.
2. Indonesian language include in miui.eu
If you want try it UBL and flash global first with MI code firmware last version. Step in Miui.eu rom thread.

sure :good:
You can but it's not recommended. Different rom regions use different persist.img (use a hex editor to read it). A different persist.img has different data offsets and it can mess with things like Mi account, compass and different sensors, activation data etc.
Le:fastboot won't flash persist.img even if it's present in the ROM folder. You can flash persist.img from twrp but again, not recommended to flash another version of it.

So, you will try to flash global ROM after getting bootloader unlocked?
My main issue now in 12.0.1 is the dynamic refresh rate or something like that makes gaming experience like a crap as hell even if i stay in fixed 60Hz refresh rate

New Mi 10 Ultra user needing help

Hello XDA forums,
I've recently required a global version of the mi 10 ultra after a phone swap. I'm not flash/bootloading/ROM toting gunslinger and have no clue about this software installed on the phone called TWRP.
From my research I've found it's a bootloader that allows the device to be used in other countries and gives access to Google play store.
But I just wondered whether going back to stock is an option, and if so, would that present any issues i.e. lose assess to play store.
If there is a simplified guide or any guide in general I'd be more than happy to look at it
Kind regards

Thank you for clarifying that for me having spoke to someone via the Xiaomi forums, they stated that it is used on the mi 10 ultra to by pass the Chinese stock ROM and allow Google play store.
The thing I'm lost about is what ROM am I currently using and how do I update it? Would you be able to direct me to some information to troubleshoot this?

Basically Yes, you will lose access to the playstore as China does not allow it on their phones. The 10 ultra's sold to people outside of China had a cutdown version of Google services put on but it did not have location history or find phone and other parts. If you do go back to stock Chinese, you can find playstore app in their version of appstore and if you install it, you can get full Google services again.
If you have the Xiaomi EU ROM installed and you live outside of China, then that version is your best bet. It comes in 2 versions, weekly or stable and both are still updated, so make your choice, stock ROM is available here.. http:/mifirm.net and do a search for cas or mi 10 ultra and install the latest fastboot or recovery ROM if you have twrp recovery installed ( you probably will if you have the EU ROM) or pop over the Xiaomi EU forum for the latest info here.. https://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/xiaomi-mi-10-pro-10lite-ultra-10t-pro-lite-10s.204/ and here for the weekly ROM.. https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-12-0-12-1-12-2-12-5-stable-release.56191/ and the weekly ROM here.. https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/21-6-16-17.61822/ .
All the info on twrp and the ROMs are on the Xiaomi EU forum but there is lots of help and advice here once you make your choice of where you want to go. The 10 Ultra is a dam good phone with the latest EU ROM installed.

Question Xiaoxin Pad Plus (TB-J607F) no downgrade possible

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Xiaoxin Pad Plus (TB-J607F).
When I bought it in a China store, it had a pseudo Global Rom on it. I then flashed the China Rom and everything worked fine. Also got some OTA update.
Then I got the stupid idea to try another Rom (P11 5G via LMSA) and now I can't get back to the China Rom. I guess something is preventing a downgrade because I did the OTA update.
As I remember it was the ZUI 13.1.???.
But I only have this ROM :TB-J607F_CN_WIFI_USER_Q00010.0_R_ZUI_12.6.142_ST_210801_qpst-001.7z
I would very much like to go back to the China ROM and maybe there is a way.
Thanks for your help.
You must unlock bootloader to flash back to China ROM as Global ROM is much more newer than China ROM. If you want to relock, you need to wait Lenovo release ZUI14 on September.
thanks for your reply.
yes indeed, the bootloader is locked.
I need an unlock file which I can only get from Lenovo. ( please correct me if i am wrong)
I requested this from Lenovo a few days ago but so far no response.

In fact if you are in Global ROM now, you don't need to request for unlock file. Just enable oem unlock in Developer Settings, reboot to bootloader and run
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
Only Chinese Firmware need unlock file.
Thanks for the explanation
I still have a few questions.
1. can I lock the bootloader again after the China Rom flashed and downloaded the OTA update?
2. with which command I lock the bootloader again?

The ZUI-ROM has besides chinese also english.
The important thing is that the ROM is newer than what you have at the moment. The latest is ZUI 14, only then you can flash the ROM when the bootloader is locked. Otherwise you have to unlock the bootloader.

I want too, but I'm afraid of bricking my tab. If you can help me with a full tutorial, please help.

Has anyone gotten OOS 12 on the IN2019 (Verizon OnePlus 8)?

Been looking for a solution to convert this device to the global variant successfully with the modem working or to get Verizon to release the update. It's been one year since Android 12 has been released and it doesn't seem like OOS 12 is coming anytime soon, so if anyone knows how to get the modem working on the global variant, I'd be glad.
The hardware and kernel source are fundamentally different on the Verizon model. Even if you somehow got global firmware installed with working data, you'd have a lot of other bugs and glitches because the hardware isn't compatible with the Global OS.

It works quite well. on the V model (that's what I have). but you need to back up your modem for data. It's best to reset to 11 factory. Then you can run ROMs that are OS 12.

I believe he means that you can run Android 12 ROMs, not custom ROMs, unless I misread?

I did not use a specific guide. I have been rooting the phone for some time and found that I could flash os global using a fastboot flash ROM. If you root your phone and save the stock os the 11 modems you can replace it in the global rom.
I will correct myself and say that I don't remember for sure if global will work (for modem replacement) but you can get custom ROMs to work well with that method.
I would have to go back and sort through for the links or try again to be sure. But if you know what you're doing, it is pretty hard to brick the phone. So play around with other guides. (with your own risk and discretion involved).
You can even run android 13 on the V model( not good IMO. buggy).

I don't think the stock Verizon modem works on the global ROM? Or did it work for you?

Stock modem does not work. That is for sure. I've moved to the pixel 7 Pro so I won't be messing with the one plus anymore.
