Hey Guys
Own an Xperia Z3, which is locked to Vodafone UK.
I'm wanting to flash 5.0, and have seen firmware available for my device D6603 23.1.A.0.690 however I believe it's either Nordic/Baltic.
Would I be able to flash this to my phone and still use voice, text and data?
EDIT: Sorry, selected wrong thread and hit new topic. This needs moving :/
Cheers,
ADS Downing
I did exactly this, but I'm on Three UK. Only problem I ran into is Video Unlimited wouldn't work

As long as you are flashing fw for your device you'll be OK.
If you own D6603 you can flash fw from all countries and it'll be 100% functional.
Everything must and will work, even Video Unlimited if it's available in your country...
Only rule is - check your model and flash only firmware for that model.
Which country - who cares (only difference between them could be preinstaled apps, camera sound (shoot sound can't be disabled), instead 4G you have LTE sign and similar, unimportant little things...

Thanks both of you guys. I'm flashing a stock firmware too, so no need to unlock bootloader or flash custom recovery?
Not bothered about rooting.
you will need to be rooted to install it as its a zip and you need to install it via recovery but you do not need to unlock the boot loader
recovery doesn't work on lollipop currently
No you don't need to be rooted to flash the firmware... Just use flashtool
I flashed the Nordic FTF, both rooted and unrooted and neither included video unlimited, so maybe it isn't available in those countries, including even installed it as a system app and it just crashed on startup, went back to 4.4.4 until a UK firmware is available

Use CF Auto Root to root your phone, read the instructions carefully!
Updated to latest MG5 update.
Changes I felt so far:
- Phone feels faster.
- More free RAM (Screenshot attached, after normal usage and no clearing of memory).
- Camera opens faster.
- Weather widget still get cleared but it comes back instantly.
Been running EE EVR MG7 for about a week and I've noticed that when it goes into sleep - WIFI disconnects.
This means it uses up my 4G data when the screen is not on. It does reconnect when the screen comes on though.
Anyone else experienced the same? A friend of mine moved up to DBT MGA and said he got the same thing (for some reason one of the programs killed 1Gb of data in one night lol!)
Was thinking of moving to BTU MGA if its any different? thanks in advance.

Do not own this phone, so the answer may vary.
But afaik, Android defaults to cellular connection in sleep. There is an option in your wifi settings which allows you to select "wifi-connected" during sleep.
Search around in wifi and network related settings.
Switch it to "never"

How do updates work on it? Can I get OTA updates?
Can you give me name or a link to the download?

The best way to find out is probably to read the thread, or at least the first post and the last load of recent pages. From what I have read/seen it seems to be very good and certainly usable for daily use. I don't think you should accept (or even receive) any OTA updates. As its essentially a custom ROM its probably safer to let the developer create a new update to flash. I have downloaded the 4.2.2 version but haven't installed it just yet, been hanging on for a new 4.3 version.

Yes just done the exact same thing on three myself, got sick of the extra stuff three added plus they haven't updated to 33.2.A.2.93 yet so I've flashed the customised UK firmware. Battery life is much better than the three firmware too. Best thing about three xperia devices is no worries about not being able to unlock the bootloader if you want too though there's no ta key back up possible on the x range

No that is will only reinstall the software already on the device if you do a software repair or update it if it is a update.
You'll need to use the latest version of flashtool to download+create a ftf of your choice and then flash it takes between ten minutes and half hour.

Flashtool works on totally stock devices no root or bootloader unlock required. It downloads the firmware from Sony's own servers(they only keep current versions though) and yes you'll still be able to get updates as your not rooting it or unlocking the bootloader or modifying the system in any way. Three only supply sim free network unlocked devices for all there handsets payg or contract they just add there own bloatware to it.

Take note of the date in the image posted, trust me there network unlocked and bootloader unlockable one of the main reasons I have a contract with three its how I got the xa as a upgrade had a unlocked m2 from them previously on contract, flash customised UK firmware via flashtool(which is nothing to do with xperia companion) or don't believe me and stay as you are waiting for three to push the update which they don't even have yet I've checked with them they knew nothing about 33.2.A.2.93
I have the exact same device as you but I'm now running 33.2.A.2.93 customised UK firmware rather than 33.2.A.2.73 three UK firmware

Flashtool is totally separate to Sonys EMMA software Emma is Sonys official software for unlocked bootloader devices only.
Flashtool by androxyde is totally different and works on totally stock devices.
The bootloader is unlockable as mine is but it comes locked you need to email Sony requesting a unlock code and follow the instructions, unlocking the bootloader also voids the warranty.
My Xperia needs to be off and oem unlock checked and it should be fine
Try following this guide if you want root and unlocked bootloader

Enable the aggressive doze and doze on the go feature via adb in greenify, it makes doze more like old stamina mode. Gives you full instructions on how to enable it in the app. After using both three and customised UK firmware, the customised UK is definitely the better of the two. Hi guys
I recently acquired an Xperia XZ, and ive had a few phones in my time, predominantly HTC, and Samsung.
My phone is 3UK branded, and i can see from the XperiFirm that UK custom is available to flash (3UK are terribly slow at updating their handsets)
Now i understand flashtool isnt ready yet for 7.0, but, is there anything stopping me from using the Customized UK at all? Does it de-brand the phone? wold be nice to remove all the bloatware, whilst remaining unrooted (as yes i use Android Pay and Pokemon Go lol)
Any advice would be great!
Thanks

There will be no carrier stuff on the FTF, but there is not much on the 3 UK one anyway.
There is no risk of anything like losing DRM as that can only happen if you unlock the bootloader

After so long of waiting things are looking up for the U version of Nougat.
I've been hawking these Samsung forums for a while where everyone is waiting for Nougat on the G935U and there were people on Samsung's staff who have been trying to get it for months now. Anyways, today people are finally reporting getting the Nougat update on their unlocked S7 Edges.

Flashed this 3 days ago-- Battery life is incredible and it's VERY fast.
*Native hotspot works
*Haven't tried video calling yet, so can't confirm
*HD calling works
*No extra icons in the status bar (ie. VoLTE, etc)
I tried flashing the engineering bootloader to try rooting, but it caused a bootloop. I'm going to try again after a clean wipe.

does verizon VOLTE (advanced calling) work on the U rom? I just got a G935A phone and want to flash U (or V) variant for my Verizon sim.
I wanted to mention I flashed onto 935V today, working great. Seems snappier. I need to pop another sim though and confirm if LTE works or not. I wonder if this unlocks the other channels (Basebands) If it does, then we have a real way of "unlocking" 935V to use with other carriers or roam.
I'm now on Verizon Nougat. Can I flash directly to G935U with this file? From other sources it seems we have to flash to 6.0 first and then this one to 7.0.
Hello all,
I bought an XZP with Orange provider, so i wand to unbrand it.
Am I dumb or not, it seems to be impossible to find a stock rom to flash with flashtool.
Can someone help me?
You can download whatever via XperiFirm which you launch via Flashtool
You can download stock firmware with XperiFirm. CE1 is central Europe. Be careful when choosing the device model: G8141 is a single-sim version, G8142 - dual-sim.
I don't think Flashtool currently supports XZ Premium but you can use Newflasher instead.

No, as far as I believe. The DRM keys only get buggered up when unlocking the bootloader what is not necessary for common flashing.
Cool I am gonna have a go as this firmware version is clearly buggered. Not sure if it will make a difference on bluebooth audio etc though
