Unable to unlock my Nexus 5 :( - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Need URGENT help. I have a Nexus 5 running android 5.0.1. Today morning it was working fine. After that I changed the pin lock and it has stopped working since then. Every time I enter the new password it says wrong password.
1. I tried using Android device manager but it says 'No active devices' linked to my account.
2. I tried using cerberus but it is also of no use as it says 'you are not connected to google servers'.
Can anyone help me unlock the phone or bypass the lock screen.
Much needed help

Did you already tried a factory reset? Boot into recovery mode and make a factory reset. That should help you. You a have a lot of guides showing how to do this .

Is there a way by which I'll be able to save my data. I guess factory reset will wipe out all the data.

Contact the support of Google. They may be able to fix your account and link it to the device .

You only have screen lock and you haven't encrypted the phone, right? If that is true I can flash a custom recovery to your phone even if the bootloader is locked. Maybe from the custom recovery I could remove the screen lock (never done that before). If I fail to do that then atleast we could save files from the internal storage.

I have not encrypted the phone. Can you please let me know how can I install custom recovery without unlocking the bootloader. Sorry for the trouble but I'm a noob at this.

Well you have to download this
Extract it.
Run it.
Select Nexus5 in AP Chipset
Select the img folder as Target Dir
Check AP check
Check RESTORE BOOT IMG and select recovery
Make sure your phone is turned on
Connect USB cable
Open device manager
Start pressing volume_up+volume_down+power keys until a new device appears
Wait for windows to install drivers
Expand Ports (COM & LPT) in device manager
Check the COM number after Qualcomm QHS-USB QDLoader 9008 device
In boarddiag tool set the same com port what you saw in device manager.
Click on start.
After the process finishes the phone restarts and you have to avoid to get the phone booting to android because it will replace TWRP recovery with the stock one. So when you click on start keep pressing the volume_down key for the whole time until you are in fastboot mode. Then select recovery mode. Then follow the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409304 I have no idea will it work on lollipop, but it worth a try.

[Note]
1.Make sure that you have 70-80% battery on your phone.

2. Download the factory firmware (signed fastboot)
3. adb setup drivers.
4. Mirror for drivers manual install here.
5. You can use this tool performs various functions.

2. Extract the factory firmware zip in the same folder and make sure that all of the flashtools files are also present.
3. Now, power off your phone. If you are stuck in a bootloop, then pull out the battery and reinsert it. (Do not switch on the phone.)
4. While pressing the Volume Up key, connect your phone to the PC with the help of a USB cable.
5. You should now see the fastboot logo on your device. If you did, leave the Volume Up key. (If you do not see the logo, retry the process.)

Thanks for the solution...... it works well !!
Though my yuphoria was working perfectly fine, i wanted to factory reset my mobile for some reasons, which i was not able to do. Both soft and hard custom recovery options were not working (no recovery screen pop up, mobile boots and stuck at YU logo ), tried your solution and it worked.
Just one input for new users like me, where you have asked users to install adb drivers, i tried that part but on running the bat file, the device was not detected, hence had to add yuphoria device drivers from their official site, i am not able to paste the link here but file name is YUPHORIA_drivers-v1.0.zip, also USB debugging option needs to be turned on in developer option for this solution to work.
Rest all steps work exact as you explained.

Yup bro its difficult to set bootloader driver for yuphoria. But you can install it manually. But always remember to "disable driver signature verification" before installation and i will update the derivers link for manual installation if you message me the link.

"yup"... it will work. There is nothing to do with boot loader. It will flash the stock rom and boot-loader will get locked again. You have to unlock the boot-loader again if you want to flash custom rom again.
And i will get the official ota updates from YU as well ?

yep bro.. you will get the updates and i don't think you know that, there are no restrictions for unlocking/locking boot-loader of YU mobile. I mean the warranty not void if you unlock the boot-loader.

Is driver properly installed? Or retry to download setup again if you have done right then
1. boot into bootloader
2. run bat file it will take some time. If all goes well then it will say about relocking of boot-loader.
3. seletct yes and restart.
4. you will see yu logo and it will take 10-15 minutes to load so stay calm! If it doesn't load then try again.

Urgent help needed + QFIL

Hi guys,
As mentioned in a previous thread, my F1 is soft bricked, only with the Oppo logo, no fastboot or recovery. I need to flash it again with a soft called QFIL (soft for Qualcomm devices). But it can't be done with the ordinary stock roms, I need a specific rom compatible with QFIL, like the ones used in the service centers. Is there anyone who can provide me with such a rom, or a link to download one in order to save my device?
Thank you
Can someone owning a Oppo f1 use QFIL to extract all the necessary files in order to flash them to my phone? I would be very grateful.
I have the, flashing tool and rom needed to unbrick the f1 from any softbricked state.
Let me know if you still need it, and I'll upload it somewhere and write a quick guide.
Worked for me even after I killed the bootloader.

Need some help - Msm8x39DownloadTool.exe not finding phone
Qualcomm HS-USB QSLoader9008 on COM3, according to Device Manager, yet Msm8x39DownloadTool.exe doesn't want to find it at all - Device not connected.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Edit: I have made some progress with some steps not included above.
1) Disable 'Driver Signature Enforcement' in Windows (Google is your friend)
2) Before installing the provided drivers, hold the Volume Up button on your phone, and insert USB from PC > Phone. This places the phone into QHSUSB mode and will be found in Device Manager, under Ports (The Android Bootloader Interface (fastboot) device has an ID of '18D1-D00D', while the QHSUSB device ID is '05C6-9008'.. bingo!).
3) Install the driver as directed. This will change the device from QHSUSB mode to HS-USB QDLoader 9008 on COM3.
Continue with the rest of the guide.
Stock recovery will be returned (v1.2 Rooted - I don't remember this). From here you can install Project Spectrum again, and return back to ColorOS after that.
Hopefully this helps.

I tried this my phone has no Fastboot but recovery says V1.2(Rooted)
I tried this multiple times without luck.
As you still have access to stock recovery, you dont need to use download mode.
Simply put a stock rom zip on your sdcard and flash via the stock recovery. (might have to wipe data also if flashing a different version of the rom).
That will fix your phone.
To get access to fastboot (should you need to flash TWRP recovery), flash magictricks.zip via recovery.
If your phone is so busted you no longer have access to fastboot and recovery it will automatically default to QDloader mode (download mode).
If you want to access download mode while your recovery is still ok, switch phone off, hold Vol-Up (or Vol-down, can't recall) and plug in the usb cable.
AS LONG AS YOU HAVE ACCESS TO RECOVERY, USE THAT TO FLASH A STOCK FIRMWARE, GETTING THE QDLOADER DRIVERS CORRECTLY INSTALLED ON WINDOWS CAN BE RATHER TRICKY.

-Is your bootloader unlocked?
-What recovery do you have?
Available signed flashable ROMs: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/mirrors-for-official-cyanogen-roms-ota-updates.141825/
Find yours or just chose one, and download the signed flashable zip, then copy it to the phone (while in recovery the phone has MTP enabled on the PC) then just flash that ROM from the recovery, this will overwrite system but won't touch data and most likely fix the bootloop.
Before rebooting after flash wipe cache and dalvik just in case.
Next time do a nandroid backup if you have sensible data. I usually don't keep anything important on the phone, everything on google drive.
I don't know my bootloader is locked or unlocked.... when I try to connect phone in recovery and connect USB nothing happen but when I restart phone and set is on onelus logo and attch usb PC recognized as mtp USB device but driver failed....

Which recovery? Stock or twrp? I'm not sure that when you have stock recovery on the phone gets recognized as mtp on the PC.
I can think of adb to push the ROM zip on the PC but if you claim it doesn't get recognized I have no clue. Are you sire you have the google USB drivers installed?

Install fastboot, adb and google USB drivers : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9fZIF6vzIBzT2ZtZkNSVFI5ZHc/view?usp=drivesdk
Reboot the pc
Download twrp: https://dl.twrp.me/bacon/twrp-3.1.0-0-bacon.img.html
Reboot in fastboot mode.
Open a command prompt on the PC inside the folder where the downloaded recovery is.
-Find the folder (maybe user/Downloads)
-while holding shift mouse right click inside the folder
-select "open command prompt here"
Connect your phone and type in cmd
Code:
fastboot devices
If you're lucky and did everything correctly then your phone should appear and you can continue, if not uninstall the drivers you previously had and kingroot and whatever minitool you used and try again.
Now that the device is visible
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp twrp-3.1.0-0-bacon.img
Phone should reboot. Just turn off and boot into recovery and hopefully you'll see twrp.
Now connect the phone to the PC an you should see the mass storage and you'll be able to copy the ROM zip there.
Now just flash the zip of the rom and you're done.
U cannot assure you that it will fix the bootloop but it's your best choice.
In the future:
-Never use kingroot or other ****ty mini tools. CMD and manual flash are always the best choice.
-Do a backup if you are not confident with this kind of stuff.
-Don't keep too much stuff on the phone. Use google drive. And services to save contacts, notes images videos.

This means your bootloader is still locked so you basically can't do anything. To unlock it you would need to factory reset. So your only option is to try installing the ROM via adb on the cyanogen recovery.

This means your bootloader is still locked so you basically can't do anything. To unlock it you would need to factory reset. So your only option is to try installing the ROM via adb on the cyanogen recovery.

Try to push the zip from adb to /sdcard and then flash the zip through the recovery (which technically should do it since it's a stock ROM)
This will result in a "dirty flash" which will not delete data.
This is your only option in the current state of your phone, if you had rooted your phone properly without kingroot you would have booloader unlocked an you would've had more options. If this doesn't work you are forced to factory reset. And use this opportunity to unlock bootloader with
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
Which due to security measurements will delete all the data.
Before you going to flash anything using adb or something, do this.....
1. Turn off your phone completely.....
2. Connect the charger and let it charger for 10 minutes
3. While the charger is still connected, press the power button (turn it on)
4. Wait....
If the phone boot normally while the charger is still connected, unplug the charger and waits....if the phone goes back bootloop after a few minutes and hours without charger connected then your problem is a dying battery not software....buy a new battery and once your replace it, it will solved your problem without having to flash anything via adb or recovery...it also can save all your data....

Lolwat?? What kind of sorcery are you talking about.... ? if it was the battery it wouldn't have happend right after he messed with that stuff. Improve your troubleshot skills ? this kind of stuff happened to me insane amount of times and always were able to fix it, in this case the guy is limited by the fact he doesn't have the bootloader unlocked.

That depends if you are running oxygen os, you can't flash an OTA of OS that you are currently not running. To dirty flash you have to use the same version or distribution of the OS you are currently running.

Please help to restore CC 9
Please help me bring my Xiaomi CC 9 back to life. I updated it with MIUI 11.3.3.0.PFGEUXM and my device does not boot normally. My bootloader is locked and an account is not installed in the developer settings. Does anyone know what to do ???
I got error -1 on my smartphone when I added account and device in the '' mi unlock status '' menu.
How to solve
--
Edit:
resolved: I logged out and logged into the Mi account on the device and gave no error
I have to wait 168H to unlock
Tks
GSI's are quite good. I have good SOT with ArrowOS GSI: 12h - 13 h. I think it's more interesting to use Pie GSI's for now.
Where can I get this ArrowOs GSI rom?
Unlock tool stops at 50%
What should I do when the Unlock Tool stops at 50% and reports: couldn't verify the device. Is it because I haven't waited the 10 days yet?
You have to wait to unlock bootloader.

you dont have to boot the image if you flashed it first, if you did 'fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img', no reason to do the boot part, just do fastboot reboot-recovery
if you dont want to flash twrp over your stock recovery, then use the fastboot boot recoveryname.img and then mess around with twrp, backup everything and flash a new rom and reboot, next time you reboot to recovery, stock will still be there

Unfortunately I can't help you with that but I have a question did you wait 10 days or not cause my phone just refuses to cooperate with the unlock tool. Sometimes the fastboot logo just disapears and it says press any button to shutdown.
Edit: Just to clarify the flash tool does not say anything about the waiting period. If someone can help me or clarify the situation I would greatly appreciate it.
Alright so it appears to either be a USB gen limitation or just my plain ass stupidity for not installing adb drivers. Hell if I know but either way now it says how many days I have to wait so nice.

Can you be more specific about your booting issues?
Is the device boot looping? How far through the booting process do you get before failure? and what happens after failure?
Can you get your phone into recovery mode or download mode?

Sometimes it gets ON normally and after some time it reboots itself and then it keeps doing it again and again, and sometimes it gets on and goes straight to the recovery mode, and yes i can get my phone into download mode too.
If you have precious data you want to keep, then you should create a back up of your phone, if you haven't already done so.
If you're unconcerned about data or have created a backup, then you could factory restore from recovery mode.
Alternatively, if you haven't got the latest version of Odin, then you could try downloading the latest Odin software and attempt another flash.
Another thing you could try, is to sideload the update via adb. You will of course need the latest adb software which is easy to find. You can follow this xda guide here (https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/), or if you prefer it you could download Android Studio from here (https://developer.android.com/studio).
To sideload the update you will have to:
1. Boot phone into recovery mode. Hold the volume up, home, and power buttons, and then let go of the power button when it power on.2. When in recovery mode, select the option, "Apply update from ADB."3. With your phone plugged into the computer, open the cmd/terminal and type "adb devices". The cmd should start up adb and display something like:List of devices attached[device id] sideload4. Navigate to the folder that contains the update file. It needs to be a .zip file.5. Type in the command, "adb sideload [file name]".
To make things easy you can set up adb so you can run its commands from any directory, the steps for this are covered at the end of the xda guide I have linked.

Yes if it boots normally and then i can go safe mode too.
Just so you know, I'm running out of ideas. Can you try the other suggestion that I mentioned above?
The one where I suggested flashing through Odin again?
I'm kind of assuming that USB Debugging and OEM Unlock were turned on as well.

Ikes! Are you able to try and downgrade to your original stock firmware? Seems like the issues began with trying to update.
where can I download original stock firmware from the internet? Can you provide me the link kindly? Last time I used Frija (desktop app) to download firmware.
Pretty much everyone on xda (including me) uses this website for firmware: https://www.sammobile.com
You have to create a free account but it's worth it for all the firmware they have available.
I believe you already know this, but I'm just going to cover the bases anyway, make sure to download firmware for your specific model G930T.
