Hi All,
Just had a play with the S6 and S6 Edge, both 32GB variants with minimal installed apps and they only had 12.4GB free space. I am glad I opted for the 64GB model. Can anybody who actually has the 32GB variant confirm that what I have seen is correct? if so that is a lot of space taken up by Samsung.
Thanks
I've seen screens where between 22 and 24GB were free on the 32GB model. On retail units it's often less because of the software and demo material on them.

That's wrong. It's around 22-25 GB free.
Lollipop touchwiz should take up around 7 - 8 gb

System partition is just shy of 4 GB. Believe the 22-23GB number is what I've seen as well.

Like the title says, does your 32gb s4 have lag? My 16gb did but 32gb didn't, even before the OTA

Just returned my 16 for 32 the other day. Both phones did not experience any lag at all. Before and after the update. However, my display is much much better on the 32 gig. The colors look amazing where as my 16 gig seemed bland. Love the black finish on the 32 gig as well.
These threads cannot be any more subjective.

I know on my Galaxy S2 that there was a Gameloft fire sale last year and I downloaded a bunch of games near storage capacity. Phone lagged like crazy doing any tasks. Removed 2 gigs worth of games and everything was back to normal.
Since then I have never had a phone get close to capacity. This is actually has me most interested in the 32GB.

The hard part is that you can't do it through tapatalk. At least not that I've found. And every other thread in this forum needs to be reported for one reason or another; this forum is a mess.

I think all the 32 gigs are Korean made while most 16 gigs are from China. That may have something to do with it.

Seriously though.
My 32gb seems to lag a bit. Transition animations are jerky, and there's a half second lag when pressing the home button. That's after freezing all the bloat, disabling S Voice, and using Nova Launcher. Still like it though, just hoping some ROMs will make it smoother.
I'm glad I switched to 32 gb just for the fact it is made in Korea.

Before opening a new thread, ask yourself, does what I'm about to say really need it's own entire thread?
The answer in this case is no.

Yes but that thread doesn't specify if it is from North or South Korea.
Time to start a new thread...thanks!:cyclops:
This would be best posted in one of the other lag threads. Which there are many.

I recently bought a galaxy tab 2 7" 8GB, but I can only use 4 of it. Would installing a custom rom give me more space? Its a shame that they really only give you 4gb

No, you will need to jump through a couple hoops and leverage your sdcard slot, by using a swap script, or an app like foldermount, gl2sd, or similar. Personally, i used the swap script when i was using 4.1.x, but now i use foldermount. The p3113 swap script is on these forums, and foldermount is in the play store, or the thread for it, which are in the android apps and games forum, or software development, i forget which.
Oh yeah, every option requires root access.

Just a quick question since it's brought up. What class sd card is suggested for doing this method? I've read that class 4 is better than class 10 for doing this, but that was on my Xperia Play. Just wanted to make sure before I invest in one.
Thanks.

I don't know if it is true, but I had a class 4 SD card on my xperia mini, and i when I bought a class 10 16 GB,the phone was about 30% faster with swap then class 4 with swap.
So I believed in classes ;D

Class 4 = 4mbps
Class 10 = 10mbps
You tell me.

I have a 32 GB U1 which U1=Class 10 fyi.
My tab has 16GB storage but only about 12GB useable so it would make sense a 8GB only has about 4 useable.

Class 4 will never be as good as a class 10. I am running a Samsung Class 10 UHS-1 70MB/s read and 20MB/s write card and that is about as good as it gets. Anything higher is not supported by our device (read and write speed-wise you would be over-compensating way too much).
I read somewhere that when using the sd card for apps and the such.
Ah, here it is:
This higher class # = higher speed across the board is a bit of a misnomer. Lower class (4&6) seem to have higher random access speeds, so when pulling up files lower than 6MB, it may behoove you to have a lower class card. Seems handy when pulling up photo and MP3. If you're transferring large files you may see speed increases for things like full movies or apps. Is it worth 10 seconds every now and then? I'll let you decide.

Yes, it definitely gives u a lot more space because stock roms are filled with bloatware (pre-installed apps), which according to me are useless. If you flash a custom rom it is not filled with all that crap and will give u a lot more of storage like if you have an 8gb tab 2 u will get only about 3-4 gigs of free space on stock but if you switch to custom rom you will have around 6-7 gigs of free space.

No one has tried repartitioning space from system to data? System takes up over 1.4 gigs, so with most ROMs your wasting a gig of space.

I am thinking about buying the nexus 5 on ebay. But all the 32gb are just overpriced. So I was considering buying a 16gb. I was wondering how much memory is actually on the Nexus. I use Google play music so my music won't take up space. Thanks
There is about 13GB of usable space for you with the 16GB model.
12.55GB to be exact, which is more than enough for me.

Can't wait for google to ship it to you in a few weeks? why can't you buy the 32gb ver from google?
I got my white 32gb in today and it only showed a little over 26gb of free memory , I notice that the 16gb models are showing a little over 12gb. Don't think there's any difference software wise for the 32 model to take more memory..
What is the actual memory available for the 32 model ?
( I am aware that its not going to have 32 GB because of the software )
thanks

It will be very limiting if we don't delete old videos, music and photos to add more.
I have 3gb left on my M8 16gb + 16gb sdcard and the available internal memory is about 10gb when I bought it, so total user memory 26gb, now it's 23gb on S6 for the 32gb
Well let's hope black market will bring the 64gb in my country then
