Hi i buy one used HTC EVO 3D CDMA(no sim slot), but i use WCDMA/3G or GSM carrier (with SIM card).
Please someone know if:
1 - If buy USB SIM reader in ebay, may i get all information needed from SIM to flash in CDMA ship?
2 - If flash the radio of HTC EVO 3D GSM version in the CDMA version, i can use this in GSM network? or hardware are diferent?
Thanks you
I find this patch for android to enable global CDMA phone to work in GSM network, but who i know if HTC EVO 3D is global phone?
"If you have a Global Phone for CDMA Network and you want correctly use it on GSM Network than you have to edit the build.prop file to fully enable the GSM\UMTS and you have to set APNs to use 3g data"

Hi,
In Australia we have two versions of the HTC Touch Pro 2:
T7373 (works on 3g networks 900/2100); and
T7381 (works on 3g networks 850/2100).
Both phones are GSM & 3G phones. Both phones take SIM cards. One is designed for Telstra (an operator that uses 3G 850 Mhz network) and the other is designed for the other carriers (Vodafone, Optus etc.) who use 3G 2100 Mhz network.
I am wanting to flash a T7381 model to get rid of the carrier firmware. I am guessing that I can't flash with the ROM file from "Flashing your First GSM Rhodium Rom (For Noobs) ".
Is there a flash file for the T7381 version?
The reason why I want to flash is because the carrier Telstra has designed their ROM to not allow the Internet settings to be changed to a different carriers settings.
If you are sure what you have is a GSM phone, then you are asking in the wrong forum. Go over to Rhodium GSM forum, download HardSPL from there, and then flash to any ROM you like.
I have the same question.
You have described the problem perfectly, just need a perfect answer. Anyone?
I can answer the question in the thread subject...
CDMA phones come from CDMA carriers, who don't require SIM cards in their phones, so you can call people without the SIM card. These carriers/phones are usually Verizon/Sprint/Telus. These phones use a different kind of technology.
WCDMA is just 3G. I have a T-Mobile USA (GSM) Rhodium. Under Comm Manager, I can set my Network Type (Band) as either "GSM" (2G/EDGE) or "WCDMA" (3G/UMTS).
I just got off the phone with Telus and what they told me is that they are releasing ANOTHER TP2 on the GSM network and that I would have to buy another phone TP2 just to get onto the GSM network.
This being said, is there any way to modify the radio signal in my CDMA phone to read both CDMA and GSM, or atleast get more speed out of my phone for connectivity to the net?
*update
I just got off the phone with HTC and the lady I spoke with told me, that to change the radio frequency I just had to change the ROM. That being said IF, I put a Telus HSPA ROM on there the phone should be capable of working on the network. Now that being said. If this is possible would it not be possible to run on both networks, CDMA and HSPA, making the signal control software dependent, meaning I have CDMA controls for standard phone calls and HSPA for running the highspeed network?
Update in previous post.
Eazy, just HardSPL and security unlock your radio bro...Only then you can use the GSM networks in your country (I'm guessing it's US)
But you can only activate one at a time. Either GSM only or CDMA only..CMIIW..
Just my 2 cents
Actually it's Canada
Right but if I unlock the phone, and switch it back and forth on and off the networks, how would that affect my account, could I hide the fact i was doing this?

I have this phone on Telus...I got it unlocked and I put my work sim card in this phone and it's on rogers. I switch networks when necessary....If you get a Telus sim card you would be able to use it GSM.
You should be able to pick which network you use. I saw it in phone settings, I think.

TELUS does not provide GSM at all. They are CDMA and UMTS.
So does this mean its possible. If i have a CDMA Sprint HTC Touch pro 2. That i have the potential of using it on At&t in the US?? All i have to do is unlock it?? Any information would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!!
And if one does unlock a radio on said Telus phone, can one use both radio frequencies, thus enabling both CDMA and HSPA frequencies?

So Telus new 3G network is not GSM? It does have drop down menu showing "Send SMS over" GMS and CDMA. GSM is selected by default.
I have sprint data card plan (cheap and unlimited) and I am under contract with t-mobile for GSM. this is the only phone that supports both GSM and CDMA modes... is there a way or reg hack to use gsm service from one carrier and CDMA service from another (data only)
or maybe there is an app that would allow that..If this is possible, kindly post a reply. I am thinking of investing in a TP2 this would let me have one phone and I can then ESN swap my CDMA data plan over to TP2
The gsm and cdma radios can not run at the same time. It is one or the other.

Follow the link above.
According to question 3D's answer, it touches on being able to have 2 numbers (1 CDMA and 1 GSM)
Edit: Cannot at same time - recommend reading full unlocker thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=578659
Thanks for the response, yes I read that forum, basically both radios cannot be used at the same time.
Final Qn, is there a touch flo hack for a tab to quickly switch between the radios?
SPRINT TP2 is unable to standby with GSM and CDMA at same time, you have to switch off one then active other one...
if you want standby with 2 networks, buy HTC T8388 in china, it supports standby with GSM and CDMA at same time
I own a photon q 4g and did the sim mod
i live in the netherlands where the 4g frequencies are at 800mhz,1800mhz and 2600mhz
when i use the *#*#4636#*#* code i can see the different bands you can select but there is no EU setting
but if i look at screenshots of QPST i can see that the frequencies are usable.
Does anyone think it is possible to get the phone working with dutch 4G?
Is it possible to use QPST on a modded phone with cyanogenmod?
Greetings
Mafradon
What you are looking at is the UMTS and GSM Part, not LTE.
So that's nothing that tell you about usable frequencies.
Besides the LTE part of the Photon Q is using the "flashed" SIM-ID (or whatever name it has).
It can't use the SIM-card from the SIM mod.
sim ic

but you remove the sim ic in the mod you substitute the sim card for the ic dont you?
Afaik the SIM-IC is/was used for GSM and WCDMA only.
LTE, CDMA etc. is using some in the phone flashed entries.
If you can correct me, please do it. I would love to be wrong.
what rom u are using? and what was your base (cspire / sprint) ?
rom
right now i am using the gsm version of cyanogenmod 10.1 the phone was a sprint phone originally.
I would love to now how the phone ties up the customer to the lte network (aka 4G) as all 4g phones over here do that with a sim card not through the system cdma uses. Or am i wrong altogeter and is an american lte network compleatly different as opossed to a european one?
Hi all!
I want to use my One SV on GSM network because I live in Europe ( Hungary) and my former motherboard is dead, after I ordered another from ebay just I didn't look it just use CDMA networks!
I read HTC One SV has a SIM slot because it supports LTE. Most LTE phones also include 2G and 3G GSM radios active.
But I don't know how can I unlock the sim because I put in a T-mobile SIM, it say no sim card, and doesn't ask the unlock code!
Somebody can help me to unlock CDMA portion?
