Hey guys,
I just updated to LP and was updating my EQS by editing the xml file in the system/customize/acc, and some how messed up that xml file. I wanted power saver and screen shot but because I wasn't sure of the numbers there were I plugged in all the missing numbers like I had in KK with no issues, then saved and rebooted. When the phone booted back up I had power saver and screen shot in my quick settings but noticed my data wasn't coming up and just showing "disconnected" thinking maybe one of those numbers I added messed it up. I went back in to the folder but the quick settings part is missing and not even sure what else could be missing. I've looked that file over about 10 times but cannot find it for the life of me. So I was thinking is it as simple as someone who has LP stock rooted just copy that xml file so I can paste it back into the folder or do I need to RUU?
Thanks.

When I soft reset, the My Info (owner information screen) looks OK. However lately when I turn on the device the font is weird looking almost a little scrambled. Has anyone else had this problem or able to link me to the file I need?
Can anyone send me the file?
what file ?
a reason it could look odd is if you turned on cleartype try to turn it off
I don't have clear type on.
There must be some file which loads the My Info image?
Found a file called myinfo.ttf under windows\temp. Deleted it and all is ok.
Probably got installed with a program I had installed.
Ok, i've been modding and playing with my LG Optimus Black P-970 lately, and it's been working pretty nicely. But today it started being unstabile, and weird. Examples, often when scroll around menus etc, i see a black rectangle i would guess is about 5x10 px in size, lined up in the left side of the screen. Lots of apps act weird and stops responding. If i tru to unlock after a while in standby, the screen freezes on what looks like a untuned analog tv channel, just with some colors in it. So what might have caused it?
What i have done tody, is to:
1. Updated GO Launcher EX
2. Download BusyBox, and apply the newest update it offered
3. Update the su-binary in superuser.
4. Lastly, which i suspect, i pulled Phone.apk, replaced a few background pictures in it (New ones is same resolution, but different type, from RGB to Monochrome), and pushed it back in.
Now i got problems, so i did this without any results so far:
- I've replaced GO Launcer EX with ADW.
- Removed some widgets i made with Chronotopia.
- Uninstalled BusyBox (But probably not the updates it applied to my system).
Any experiences/knowledge with these kind of problems? I do suspect the Phone.apk and the updated BusyBox...
EDIT: I managed to get a screenshot of that block dot that keeps appearing on the left side. For some reason, it appears as white in the screenshot. w00t? Dunno if it's relevant.
I would change phone.apk back to stock just to see if that helps. I kind of doubt it had to do with busy box. Good luck!
That was my idea, and i thought i had Phone.apk laying around, but no So i tried something stupid and ended up bricking the phone again, lol. So now i'm back to stock, rooted it and did a backup Updated BusyBox, Superuser and su-binary. Seems good so far, haven't done anything else. I'm gonna be so sad if i find out that i can't change a few png's in Phone.apk without stability problems. I didn't sign the modified Phone.apk before i pushed it back, may that be the problem?
I suppose it could be. Try your change again & see what happens.
Ok, last time i ended up doing a full LG recovery, and just a little tweaking. Yesterday, i made a backup, then started to heavily modify the framework-res.apk, and i got the same problem once again. This time i didn't even touch any other apk's. So now, barely awake, lol, i tried removing the old files and replace them with stock in drawable-hdpi folder, and push it back. Still the same. Tried to push the stock untouched framework-res.apk, still the same. Tried to recover to the backup i made, and still the same. What bothers is that i bypass an error message saying "ERROR, LG Security Team !" on every boot.
So i tried another, bit old backup, and this one works fine. But these problems i mentioned has not been showing between those two backups. I just had to try to restore the backup i made yesterday once more, and still it's buggy. I just can't make any sens out of that...
Hi,
yesterday i almost bricked my pad. At least i think so.
What i did was to copy a build.prop for US SKU insted of WW.
What that meant was that i couldn't get pass ASUS logo and the boot sequence didn't even start. At least i think this is a reason. Can't think of anything else. Except I have also temporarily unrooted it with OTA root keeper.
Anyway, long story short is that the only thing that helped me get my pad to life again was to manually update it to version .26 with a microSD card.
Because before this i have tried wipe data option and didn't help i have lost all my sd data, but that is a small price.
I went and started to get my pad in order and tweaks i had before. Rooted, changed build.prop and installed my own bootanimation.
I usually create my own folder for boot animations inside the /system/media and change the bootanimation_config_04.txt to pioint to my new zip. After restart, however, there was a weird bootanimation i have never seen before - android text, thats all.
I thought i did something wrong, because this always worked and i was surprised. Maybe a typo or something and the system provided with backup one....don't know.
So, i have searched and searched. No help. Whatever i did i always got that weird android animation.
Finally i have installed a bootanimation app from market, installed some random animation via that app and rebooted.
Huh, the animation changed, Dafuq?
So I looked at app settings and the location that it installs zip to is /data/local
My questions:
Is this normal? Why doesn't the old way work (/system/media), do i have a faulty installation?
Everything up until now looks pretty OK, except i am now getting a google maps crashes that i never had before.
I am away this week so i can't test everything, but it seems OK, except for some minor things. For example some games i had before cant be found on the market etc (dark knight, nfs). Maybe this is becouse of DPI changes.
Aynway, is this normal? What to do to get my /system/media way of bootnaimations back?
Thanks!
My son's Nexus 5 mysteriously "lost" all its data and settings yesterday. However, when he switched it off overnight, everything was back as normal today - with one change: now it has "EeSee" appearing as per the attached screenshots. I can't find anything from a Google search about what this might be but am worried that it might be the cause or associated with this glitch. Does anyone have any idea?

I don't know why it would do that.
See if you can rename the folder. just looks like the folder has been renamed.
open the folder like your second picture and tap on the EeSee and then the keyboard should pop up.
see if you can rename it.

Thanks - I have renamed it back to Google+... but still wonder why/how it could change like that!
Weird. I suspect malware for some reason. I'd make sure everything is backed up and factory reset or even reflash all of Lollipop and wipe the whole phone out personally.
I have several custom "Ringtones" and "Notifications" files inside these folders and they would always be included on the list of available sounds whenever I wanted to select one as a default. Suddenly they are all mysteriously missing on any of the lists.
I thought perhaps I denied a permission somewhere that is preventing my Pixel from seeing them, but I combed through everything. I went into Settings - Apps - Reset app preferences, but that didn't fix it. Toggling on a few more permissions for storage didn't fix it either. I rebooted after everything and still no change. I also checked the permissions on both of these folders and they're correct. I even defrosted everything I previously froze in Titanium Backup.
Odd thing, they were all working just a few weeks ago and I can't for the life of me figure out what changed aside from the 7.1.2 update.
Does anyone have any idea what may have happened or where else I can look? It's not worth the bother of a factory reset, but I sure would like to have Pink Floyd back.
SOLVED: Well good grief, all I did was delete the files and then copy them back in. Now they're all showing up like they should.
