As the title says: I'm tired of the bad battery life and memory leaks in Android Lollipop. Flashing stock 4.4.4 causes a wakelock for the SystemUpdateService and disabling the receivers doesn't work anymore.
I don't want any modifications to AOSP, I have xposed for that. So I am just looking for a clean, pure AOSP build of Android 4.4.4 for Nexus 5.
Does anybody have a link to a working, stable build?

I tried to download Android 5.1 factory image from Google and found out there was none.
So I built one, for testing.
This is a user build of Android 5.1 AOSP with 5.0.1 blobs, so do not expect this to be rock stable.
Gapps for Android 5.1 also missing, you may have trouble getting Play Store to work.
Flash at your own RISK!
1. Download the ROM (XDA DevDB) and extract.
2. Reboot to bootloader
2.1. Unlock bootloader
3. 'fastboot -w'
[THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA ON THE DEVICE]
4. 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'
5. 'fastboot flash system system.img'
6. Reboot

first impressions from setting up and installing all the apps i had on before hand i can really tell its smother, this is what android 5.0 should have been...
thank you arter for building this, it means i dont have to
The 5.1 binaries for this device arn't out yet are they?
Does anyone have an idea if the 5.0.2 Nexus 7 (flo) binaries will compile and work with the Android AOSP 5.1 source ?
Thanks!

They work just fine. I've been running 5.1 on my flo for a couple days.
I'm surprising there's a lack of posts on this since everyone seems to want 5.1. I guess people are either waiting for the stock OTA or CM. I'm fine with keeping my tablet stock and this will do nicely.

Some users after clean ROM being dead are reverted to the first near stock choice they saw that was the grogg's ROM.
Since the post is pure stock I don't know shy
I have both Roms running both running great!
I am not comparing any Roms here or trying to discourage anybody, just saying...
Sorry if I did posted anything wrong!
•Hit thanks if I helped you..
Can I simply install this over clean rom? Thanks!

Maybe you can but a clean wile is always recommended.Do a backup first.
And you can use Titanium Backup for backing up all things .

I am currently using xt1033 and I have 5.0.2
Well you can flash 5.1 GPe or if you like cm, 12.1 is pretty stable for me.
I flashed CM12.1. It has radio, good gallery, good camera app, (you can flash the stock camera if you want), the performance is really really good and has Theme Engine, a lot of customization options, etc. etc. The only thing I miss is Ambient Display, but since I have a flip cover that's not a problem.
Why don't you give it a try?

Or flash any custom rom 5.1.1 based on cm 12.1 sources eg AICP
Is there are pure AOSP rom for the Shield Tablet to basically turn it into a "Nexus 8" ?
In the development section I've only found highly customized roms.
The Stock ROM is pretty much pure AOSP if you just root and remove the bloat.
Other than that TeamEOS ROM is *pure AOSP with only a few features.
okay I changed my mind. I really like blisspop it comes with a ****ton of features.
Does anyone knows where to find a Fully functional AOSP 5.1.1 ROM?
I'd rather suggest you SlimLP, CyanogenMod 12.1 or Omni. Depending on the builds, everything works, and take into account pure AOSP doesn't have camera support.
The 3 mentioned roms are in the Original Android Development section.
like aosp but updated cause the one we have has no updates
You did not tell us if you have Osprey or Merlin phone. If you have an Osprey, like me:
I guess the ported stock Nougat ROM will be the most basic. Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/20.../rom-stock-rom-6-0-1-optimized-t3609991/page1
Check this thread for further ROM suggestions for Osprey:

Or just search through the Original Android Development forum for all different G3 variants:

Lineage OS is also a great Nougat rom. Almost AOSP, no heavy customization and great stability
If you do go for more customizations AOSP Extended is great
Pure Nexus ROM: very stable (my daily driver and never found any issue), smooth and very simple and light ROM ?
LineageOS or aosp-caf, I’d say
I agree with @nubry Purenexus is my favorite for a close to AOSP rom.
