Where would you even start??? it is so hard to find an android phone that looks like its predecessor that much you cant tell it apart. Plus with android users, the first question they'd probably ask is"what android version is it running?" And that would problably give it away.

I've been working break-fix for years, supporting end users from literally all walks, and one thing I've noticed about the majority of iPhone users is they are absolutely lemmings, across the board. The majority of my customers -- apple users and otherwise -- are buzzword addicts, and I had this conversation with my coworker a few days ago... you could say there's a new technology out in [insert platform here] that would be the coolest thing, and if you called it "doodooflinging" three weeks from now you'd have a hundred of their friends at the local [insert platform here] store asking for the latest poo, and it wouldn't matter that it didn't really exist because most people wouldn't know otherwise.
Like 802.11n. Seriously, how would you know, if you don't know tech and it's not written on the device?

They've been running anti-apple stuff way before the court stuff even happened. I think it's just in response to the iphone 5 release like the guy from cnet said. I REALLY doubt samsung is too hurt over this court crap. They'll just appeal it anyways...

The below Samsung commercial, first aired during Game 5 of the NBA Playoffs, plays more like a mini Jay-Z documentary and includes the #MagnaCarta hash tag, pushing people to visit MagnaCartaHolyGrail.com.
On the actual website, you learn that the album will be available 72 hours in advance for up to 1 million Samsung Galaxy customers. More specifically, the Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, and Note 2. A related app will be available on June 24th and the actual album will be available on July 4th at 12:01AM Eastern.
The app will only be downloadable through the Android App, which we assume is the method they’ll use to limit downloads.
Samsung has a few other new Galaxy products in the pipeline including the Galaxy S4 Zoom, but it doesn’t appear these new devices will be included in the offer. That may suggest these new devices will not yet be available by the June 24th or even July 4th launch of the Magna Carta Holy Grail Jay-Z album. I’m a huge Jay-Z fan and am outrageously excited for the Galaxy S4 Zoom, so I’m hoping to get in on this action.

The point of this post wasn't meant to ask your opinion on what kind of music you like. I'm sure you try to fill your playlist up with nothing that is mainstream, because you read on the internet that mainstream music isn't cool.
And you are right, popularity does not mean you are good. And just remember RC, compiling some source code doesn't make you good either...

And I have no idea why you threw in compiling source code...its completely irrelevant. Never once have I ever said compiling source code makes you good...in fact I've said quite the opposite a few times...compiling source is just a few strokes of the keyboard, anyone can do it...what takes skill is those who are actual devs that are creating the source for others to compile like cyanogen etc

not like it wont be shared on torrent sites in minutes anyways; this isnt a precious commodity or life sustaining substance; its a commercial release and a big PR push for Samsung and Jay Z. Boost Mobile should have pulled a punch like this to their users; they targeted african americans in many of their advertisments for years. The demographics on this stunt are a little off, and a little dated. Perhaps something like a pre-release digital copy of some movie (about the same price, and for Samsungs money and the consumers' ingestion a MUCH better value) would have been a better strategy.
Half the people i know with Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4's are over 50, most the rest are over 25, and only a slim portion listen to that genre of music, so its wasted money for about 80% of the S3/S4 users i know personally, perhaps more. Its no different than them sending out free tickets to the Boston Aquarium; good only for a limited number of people, and all that money wasted on the tickets for the rest.

i work in tv/film and advertising; my reasoning is rather sound; samsung has wasted a considerable sum on a single album prerelease. maybe giving $14.99 credit or whatever to samsung hub/music services would have been a better promo.

Yes, I have several but responded using my gear s3
Samsung Gear s2 Classic uses a proprietary cradle to program with, so unfortunately it's impossible to get inside the watch save for screen and buttons (that I am aware of).

Digressions are great because they feed thinking! Especially from somebody that clearly has experience with smartwatches.
I'm testing a sort of older theory in a new context – which may mean some of the questions are not 100% spot on for smartwatches, which is a limitation of my research.
Safety is an interesting issue, and definitely something I'll look into.

Now Im retired and its more of an emotional thing as I like the technology and I use it to track my workout. Also a question about what more is wanted, say longer battery life or better waterproofing. Just a suggestion.

I've mentioned before, it doesn't get into the specifics of smartwatches. It is a very general overview. However, it's never been done in a smartwatch context before – which is why I wanted to test it.

Did the survey. Glad you mentioned the model you are testing. I have the S2 Classic and for me it's a useful tool not particularly fun or entertaining. I can keep my phone on silent, track health and...tell time! Now that I'm using android pay I don't use it for loyalty cards like I used to.

Now that Xiaomi has failed to deliver a timely update for the MI A1 and they have totally failed to communicate any issues in regard to the February update, we can rightfully assume that this phone can no longer be called an Android One phone.
Also, if Xiaomi's MIUI forums and Twitter are of any indication, they don't care about the MI A1 a tiny bit and they keep touting the MIUI Android skin.
If you want to say something about rooting, alternative ROMs or adb, please, don't. Most people have bought into the Android One project/promises. They have been deceived.
It's far fetched to say that Xiaomi has failed as whole. They have delivered this far and yes, sometimes they publicly indicate that MIUI>STOCK Android by deleting the comparison poll. I think the whole issue is with Google taking multiple Android one projects and then ignoring/forgetting about older projects, and Xiaomi just aggravating the delay.

You really shouldn't worry. One single security update is not gonna kill you, so to speak. I'm pretty sure they are doing a ton of work just to bring a better experience than it is now.
Don't forget their holidays. They haven't been able to work on the device for quite a while, so I'm sure they'll come up with March security update faster than February, if they will.

4) i may have been insensitive earlier. I dont know your pain and suffering. In India you can go to consumer court and file a complaint on false advertisement. Maybe you have something like that in your country. Or you can just sue them for the deception, false advertisement, physical/mental/emotional suffering, etc. You may even get compensated. Good luck.

Monthly updates for the Mi A1 were never promised by Xiaomi or Google. U misinterpreted "regular security software updates". Try to find a original Xiaomi or Google source saying montly, you will only find regular or frequent.
Example...

I agree. It has been two months since the last update, and the battery issues are still not resolved. Low quality 8.0 from December is still the latest official build and we have march already. 8.1 is out for like 4 months? Xiaomi succeeded with mi a1, yet they treat it like an unwanted child. Never seen a worse support, to be honest.

4) i may have been insensitive earlier. I dont know your pain and suffering. In India you can go to consumer court and file a complaint on false advertisement. Maybe you have something like that in your country. Or you can just sue them for the deception, false advertisement, physical/mental/emotional suffering, etc. You may even get compensated. Good luck.

Understand what I mean to say we are their customers n we need to make them realize about what their customers think about them all together idk y I've been facing so dumb people on xda nowadays who can't understand their customer rights, we are consumers n we have some consumer rights I hope u learned a bit of economics in school ofc if u ever went to rather than trolling add a lil stress to ur tiny brain with lame sense of humour n think about it....

I got no problem with the MiA1, from whatever point..
I use it, I maximize it, I optimize it, for my daily mobile warrior.. MiA1 is fun, MiA1 is awesome and to me for me it delivers what it says... aside from the camera, which I installed the GCam
regular updates does not mean monthly update.. if its not broken (totally) why fix it?! :silly:
don't hate something too much, if you don't like your phone.. sell it then buy something else like those much more expensive phones and also has many flaws / bugs.. heey even the pixel or the S8 has flaws and bugs.. :victory:

You clearly haven't used android for a long time. I have seen far worse support.
It's all about priorities. Just like a booty call is priority when compared to other task. MIUI has much higher priority as they have invested in that since the beginning of Xiaomi. A1 is the bastard child of xiaomi with Google. That's why it gets left out.

Do you even know what you are talking about. You bought that device on your own. You aren't stuck with it. You can sell/exchange. Let's assume you are stuck.
Economics you said right. So according to you it must walk in park to make cheap devices with acceptable hardware.
The moment you bought it you knew you were compromising. ( Only people who are allowed to deny this are those who has a1 as secondary/test device).
How many devices are there with oreo in same price range. F**k oreo. How many device got Jan update in same price range.(nougat)
Don't forget money is the most important factor.
Quality of a commodity is directly proportional to its cost.
Let that commodity be food you eat, roof under you live, even good toilet papers cost more money then normal ones and people use both types to do just one thing wipe the sh!t.
Let's get back to you being a great, kind, fearless, bravehearted, benevolent customer to Xiaomi.
If you go to fight Xiaomi even with like minded people. You will eat dirt majestically.
Why because the powerusers are small percentage of a larger user group.
And Xiaomi wants to sell these device to that larger group not you. If Xiaomi knew you personally they will never sell you their phones.

I am a independent developer and sell watch faces in the Samsung Galaxy App Store. I have a handful of faces already actively selling and I am just starting to develop more. I plan to release many over the next year.
I will take the first 20 people that post here requesting a spot but please be aware that I am only taking 20 to ultimately have between 10 to 15. It is inevitable that some people wont work out due to not having the device any longer, not providing feedback, losing interest, etc. The people that stick around to be the permanent group of testers will be getting the new watch faces upon every release, plus access to any that are already posted.
So if you do want a spot, just leave a post stating that you are willing to be a tester and if you feel comfortable, include your Samsung account email. If you don't want to post it in a public forum than just say that in your post and you can IM it to me. Pretty simple and straight forward stuff so I guess that is it. Thanks!

Hi, thanks to everyone who has volunteered so far! I am very happy to have you all. At the time of yesterdays release, I had only received one pm with an email address. So if you sent me your email right away you will have access immediately to the first few releases. For everyone else you will have access just a day or two later. Both are in the testing phase of registration so as long as there is no bugs, they should be live in a couple days.
