[Completed] [Q] How does Bluetooth Multi connect work ? - XDA Assist

Hi ! So I am in the process of buying my first bluetooth stereo headset after clearing these technicalities.
What exactly does a headset promise when it says it supports 2 simultaneous bluetooth connections ? Let us assume the 2 connections are for 1 laptop and 1 phone.
1) If I play music on VLC and play music on phone. Will I be able to hear both simultaneously ? if not then
a) Can I play music on VLC for a while. press stop button and play music on the phone. Will that work ?
2) There are 2 distinct profiles in Bluetooth, A2DP for streaming and handsfree profile for calling. As per my understanding, the handsfree profile dominates all others and while it is being used, all other services will be muted. Is this correct ? Which common applications on laptop use the handsfree bluetooth profile instead of A2DP ? (Skype ? Hangouts ?) If Skype does use the handsfree profile, does it mean any other source of music (vlc, youtube on the same laptop) will get muted immediately ?
3) Can a call on phone and music streaming from laptop co-exist on the headset ?
Also FYI, I am planning to get the Sony SBH50. and it supports multiconnection. I want to be able to attend to a call on phone while watching a movie on the laptop without having to fiddle with bluetooth connections on either of the 3 devices. I want it seamlessly. Is it possible today ?

Newbie, Bluetooth question

Hi,
I have a Nokia headset which works fine for calls. My 2 questions are;
How do I set it up for voicecalls (i need for making normal voice call via the speaker as well)
How do I get it to play music through the headset??
thanks.
what device do you have?
as far as I am aware neither option that you request is presently available on THC devices. (At least not the Blue Angel)

Audio over bluetooth like other HTC phone?

I have had a HTC (I-mate) Universal for years now and still think it was HTC best phone. That being said it was time to move on and I now have the Dream. One thing I loved about the Universal is I could play my music through my bluetooth receiver. I am sure it was some kitchen I had but my question is with the current state of the bluetooth API is there any other way to redirect the signal to work. I am not even sure once google release the bluetooth section if this is possible to create or if its hardware too. Thanks
well i have been listening to music on my g1 while i drive for the last couple of days.. i have a bluetooth enabled car stereo instead of a head set i 've noticed that when i receive a phone call and my stereo switches to my phone i hear my music before the call picks up and after my call is finished and before bluetooth turns off i have my music streaming again. so it should just be a software issue
That was a program on windows mobile that allowed you to listen to music through a normal bluetooth headset. At this point there is nothing out there. Google has said that the bluetooth api is unfinished and will be finished in a future update. From what I understand is the bluetooth api is not available to the public but once it is Im sure someone will make an app to support that.

Telephone cant find bluetooth-headset!

Hi! I have a brand new Jabra 620s bluetooth-headset. When I turn the headset on and search for bluetooth devices on my computer I can see it, but I cant see it when I search for it on my touch pro.
What could be the problem here?
I had a similar problem last night (and have it quite often when i need to pair). It doesn't detect it until the 3rd or 4th time in which last night it didn't even detect it either. I power cycled the headset and my phone found it the first time.
Yeah, I tried rebooting my headset and my phone several times, but I still can't get it to work...
Figured it out... Had to hold in a button on the headsett to make it avaliable for new devices...
But new problem:
I don't get sound in the headsett when I play music. But when I make a call the sound is in the headsett. What could be the problem here?
Maybe its the settings in your a2dp profile?
I read this "Set-up of the 620's was simple enough, the headset unit is paired with the device that is streaming the music and / or a mobile phone. A smart move from Jabra allows the 620s to be connected to both a mobile phone and an audio device simultaneously. However our set-up was rather more straight forward than most as we used Jabra's own Bluetooth dongle that supports the all important A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) profile. Real life for most users is a different kettle of fish with support for A2DP being quite sparse, most music gateways and servers and even music ready mobiles rarely support the required profile." source: http://www.lordpercy.com/jabra_bt620s_review.htm
Maybe some tweaking in hklm\\software\microsoft\bluetooth\a2dp\Settings
I believe this headset also supports AVRCP profile. In any case, make note of your original configuration prior to making any changes.

You can use Advanced Config to enlarge the bluetooth bitpool under the bluetooth tweaks. Set it to "very high" for best sound quality (uses more system resources tough).
HTH
Maximum bit-pool setting is 1561. I dont think it solves the problem, cause the quality is still really bad.
Any other tips? Or do I have to return the headset cause a brand new ~1000$ phone cant play on a wireless bluetooth headset?!
Bump.. Are there really no solutions?

music through car bluetooth

I have bluetooth enabled handsfree in my car. Whenever I make a phone call the sound is routed through the car speakers and there's a microphone in my car...
My question is: is there a way to route music from my ppc to my car? I tried a lot of softwares (VJ Volubilis, BlueTooth Audio...) I think its routing to my car (on the ppc it says that its routed and I stop hearing the music), but nothing comes out of my car speakers...
(calling works fine)
any solutions, or is it a hardware thing thats missing in my car?
Thanks!!!!
Not sure if this will work but it is worth a shot (I'll try it myself later on)

Hey nir,
I went to the site and register but the program seems to be out of the beta 4 stage (it says it expired in October). Is yours still working? If it is, can you post the cab? Thanks.
oh.. maybe it's working because it was already installed on my device for a while.
mine works fine.. it's the same cab on the website.
thanks everyone!!
Well I tried them all and it seems its always the same problem... it connects to my car and the sound disappears from my ppc, but nothing comes out from my car.. on BTmusic it gives:
Status: enabled
Headset: connected
A2DP: off
And I tried everything to turn A2DP on.. but it always stays off (menu -> A2DP) , is that the problem?
I feel that my car recognizes only when a phone call comes in, but fro some reason is not transmitting the music from my ppc.
I have a 2006 BMW 525xi with idrive, my ppc is a tmobile wing, and i tried both s2p and the default music player.
In your bluetooth Partnership settings - Click Start, Settings, Connections, Bluetooth and and click on your car's bluetooth, Does it show both Wireless Stereo and Handsfree (are both boxes checked) if not make sure that Wireless stereo is checked) should work if it is. If you do not see wireless stereo and only handsfree - then you will not be able to stream music because your car's bluetooth is not able to stream the music, only calls. My new car's UConnect Bluetooth does not support wireless music streaming, only calls. But in my other car I have the Motorola T505 which can stream both Calls, (handsfree) and Music (Wireless stereo). In partnership settings I see only Handsfree and serial port for Uconnect and my Motorola shows both Handsfree and Wireless stereo. You may be out of luck trying to transmit music if you do not see Wireless stereo in the partnership settings (your car's bluetooth may not support it. If you see the (Wireless Stereo in partnership settings but it is not checked, then check it off and start enjoying wireless bluetooth music streaming.
thanks ...
that's what i thought also.. no i dont have wireless stereo option, i only have the handsfree...
I will ask this knowing that most likely the answer is "no":
anyway to fool the bluetooth to stream music through handsfree?

There might be a way, but I don't know how to myself. I don't know if the sound quality would be any good - Mono Vs. Stereo Sound Plus pitch no Base etc.. If so, you will probably want to explore other Options - MOTO T505 I use is great - If you have AUX jack - you can use that - There are other bluetooth devices as well capable. Good luck. If I see or hear anything else I will reply back to this tread or PM you

It is a newer verson - Google it and download and install on your device. You probably only have version 2.0. It is easily found in this XDA site - Various Links - and on microsoft's web site

[Q] Use android device as a bluetooth headset?

OK.. so first question you are probably asking is WHY??
I am looking to build an in-car computer with one of those little android computers, touch screen monitor, all hooked up to an amp and then my standard car speakers..I want to then use this to take calls from my Samsung S2 and also playback music.
So what I am trying to find out is if it is possible to get android to act as a headset / audio playback device? Have looked around but found nothing helpful. Any thoughts??
