Hi Guys,
I hope someone has a clue whats going on with my fone.
(after few months) The charger that came with the box had issues charging , usually I had to bend and twist the cable to charge. So it went like this for a few days and then one day It was very low on battery so I connected it to the charger but it wasn't responding
Finally it died I tried the twist and turns but the cable didn't work , few days passed as I couldn't find a similar charger(as most of my family uses Iphone including me)
Now a friend of mine took the battery out and charged with an adjustable charger, I checked the battery has charge now BUT the mobile isn't switching on.
Can any one help ?
All comments and Ideas appreciated
Thanks in advance

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Which device are you talking about? Does it have a removable battery or did your friend need to disassemble the device to remove the battery?
Its was the xolo a700, yes removable battery

How exactly did your friend charge the battery? Did he hotwire the charger directly to the battery? If so, he's probably damaged it so you'll need to purchase a new battery.
Transmitted via Bacon
He used a portable charger, its kinda hot wiring I believe.
Is there a way to be sure the battery is gone ? Coz you can still feel the charge in it.

What do you mean you can feel the charge? You can use a multimeter to test the battery.
Transmitted via Bacon
Yes I had used voltmeter but I barely remember what were the readings now, I had borrowed it from an electrician guy who did some work at our place. i think I will try to find it again and check.

Sounds like a good idea, I'm confident that the battery is the problem so I'll need to close this thread as there's not much else I can really tell you. If you need further help in the future please feel free to send me a PM and I'll do what I can for you. Good luck with the battery.
Thread closed, thanks.

Hello xda,
Before yelling at me for posting something thats already posted I haven't seen any posts that were recently
I had an Atrix 4G when the digitizer went out I got an Atrix 2 replacement (How lucky was that) well I thought I was lucky until now. I owned my Atrix 2 for 2 months and last night I was playing a game I forget the name. I remember my phone being charged at 60% then I played for about an hour and half and all of a sudden my phone froze completely, no life at all just a lighted up screen with the game being frozen. So what I thought to do is do a battery pull. When I tried to boot it back up there is no life at all but a white light.
I read every where about these white lights ranging from your phone is toast to your battery is so low on a charge that it cant boot up the dual core screen.
Now I've tried everything so far right now I have a spliced up USB port rigged up to my battery charging from my PC. I checked the volts using a multimeter and the battery at first was 0.160 volt now it's up to 0.300 volt.
Now I am not good with volts and all but can someone tell me to keep charging til its at 3.8v (I think thats the batterys capacity) or what?
And I also let it charge all night with the light on to find it done nothing.
When the phones with no battery charging the multimeter voltage says 2.5v.
Lastly, I got a battery otw incase this one isnt good which will be here Tuesday-Wednesday.
Thanks and please come with positive news if you can =D
Mike
Honestly man, it sounds like you're on the right track, and yes to the best of my knowledge, the white light has to do with low battery.
Can you not just charge it while it's off? What ROM are you on?
You can also try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28384402

Nobody is going to yell at you. You have a legitimate question. I don't have a answer for your problem because this has never happened to me. After you find a fix i ask that you post whatever you did to fix this for future reference for others and myself. If you would please.

It seems you have completely drained your battery, this thing has happened to me once. What you can do is get a battery only charger from ebay and charge your battery and you'll be ready to go. This has worked for me and hopefully will work for you as well.

Good idea, I probably will invest into one because after reading I took notice this must happen alot to people and if I get this new battery then I'd have 2 completely dead batteries. Not good at all lol
I am going to let the phone charge on a wall socket for the night. Hopefully it comes back to life.
I wasn't expecting so many replies in such a short amount of time so thanks to all of you!
I went to go watch a movie tonight and we were early and I saw an AT&T store so I went inside and borrowed their battery from the Atrix on display and it booted right up.
So this means either 2 things my battery is fried or just completely dead. I tried everything I could to get it to work from splicing wires to charging all night.
I suggest for people that have this problem to either get a wall charger as posted above by prasannapmv or get a new battery.
You can also go to an AT&T store and borrow their battery, all of this is better then paying a $50 fee for your insurance or paying $300 for a new phone.
I hope this thread has helped other people.

Thank your AT&T store again. I have two in my town, neither one of them would do that.
Nothing says fine customer service like AT&T.
Hey one and all,
Now I know there are already a few threads with some external battery chargers but a few are quite outdated and it's quite a pain looking through them all so I've been a little lazy and started this new thread.
Basically im currently using the ZeroLemon 7500 extended battery, which with my heavy usage lasts 2 days which is fine by me. I am now starting to get bored with my mini brick and would like to downsize to a 3000mAh battery so as to be able to use stock sized cases, but invest in a high capacity external battery charger. Something in the range of 12000mAh or thereabouts.
Ive searched amazon and google and seen countless brands and sizes and some with extra functions like wifi file transfer / wifi hotspot / sdcard reader etc. My main interest is for the charging, optional extras are just a bonus. Ive had my fair share of fakes from china / hong kong which although super cheap do tend to lack staying power.
I want something that will keep its charge, that has a high capacity to enable me to charge a 3000mAh battery 3-4 or more times and that i can charge fully overnight between 12-16 hours.
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated, I dont want speculation on products that are out there as i have searched loads and read reviews on what i can. I would just like to hear from people who have similar wants and needs to myself that have used certain products and can give any recommendations.
Muchos Gracias in advance :good:

There are no higher capacity stock sized batteries, its usually fake or over rated. If it exists, Samsung should have produced it already. Better get a power bank to extend your usage.

That's pretty good. Only need it to give a few charges anyway. Does it hold charge properly too? So say if you didn't use it for a week and then used it to charge your phone, does it still have the same charge left on it?

You mistitled the thread. It's external battery pack, power pack, etc. Not charger. Battery packs do charge the phone but "external battery charger" mostly refers to those wall-chargers on which you put the battery to charge directly out of the phone.

Again ... I appreciate your input and willingness to make a point however if you had read what the guy put, regardless of my thread title, he was talking about extended stock size batteries, whereas the title is still pretty accurate for what I want .... An "external" pack to "charge" the "battery". And secondly the title I feel is pretty relevant, but even if it wasn't all you need to do is read my post to understand exactly what i wanted.
Please don't feel the need to take time out of your day to say I did something wrong when in fact you have done exactly the same as the first guy and countless other people by just not reading.
Thank you.
P.s. external battery charger as a description does not restrict itself to just wall chargers at all. External could be referring to a battery charger that can be taken outside its usual confines of somewhere like a house or building and used externally / outside where there is no access to a socket.
Thanks again.

I have a 10000 mAh EasyAcc. Purchased from Amazon, 28 euros.
It is quite slim (similar size as S4, double the thickness) and not very heavy.
I have already used it a couple of times and I am very happy with it. I can charge 2 phones at once, and the charging seems similar like from a normal power cord (got from 10 to 50 in about 30mins).

To be honest, power bank is pretty handy at times but please note that it takes time to charge your phone thus you need to carry your phone with the powerbank on the move which will be even heavier than your zerolemon battery alone. :good:
I've been using the PowerGen 9000mAh since August last year. It is a good size to carry in your pocket.
It has dual USB outputs plus an attached Micro USB cable that shares the 2 amp output. I like the dual output because I can charge it fast with a 2 amp port that will charge my phone a good 60% in an hour or so, or leave it on the .6 amp port over night and only have the battery pack drop 25%, or charge 2 or even 3 devices at the same time. I really like that it has an attached cable.
I can get a good 3 full charges of my S4 from it.
I mainly use it when traveling. If I am not going to be using it for a while, I discharge it to about 50% and it will stay there for months at a time. This is good practice for any LiPo battery not being used. They basically last forever at that charge level.
I also carry a spare OEM battery with me all the time, which is why I don't carry the battery pack often.

Ah, sorry about that. I was thinking about the internal battery.
Anyways, I'm using a Yoobao 7800MAh Power Bank. Its quite well known in the Asia region (like in the PH), can charge my S4 2-3 times, and quite handy (not that heavy).
Hello there,
I just got my HTC One XL from ebay and I have some questions.
How should I do the first charge? Should I use my new cellphone first and wait to the battery discharge in order to make a full charge of 7 hours?
Thank you!
If you bought it from eBay it's almost definitely not new, so the first charging process isn't super important. But, if you really want to you can plug it in until the led turns green, continue to charge for another hour, disconnect, turn it on and discharge it fully, charge fully again, then use as normal. Except for this first charge kind of situation it's generally not a good idea to discharge your phone fully, top-up charges are the suggested method.

It shouldn't matter too much with lipoly batteries, even when the phone says 0% it's still 3v which is only half discharged (safety margin around 2v before battery locks up and 4.2v which is 100%), there should be little concern with running a battery to the point it switches off as it would still have around 300 months shelf life.
There is no battery conditioning with lipoly only the way the android system determines the rate of discharge, it might for instance take 12 hours to get to 10% and then an hour to use up the last 10% as it's not figured out the discharge curve of the battery. Best thing to do is charge to 100% and allow it to run to switch off until it works out how fast or slow the battery rate is. Alot of the 'battery calibration' tools are worthless as they wipe the batterystats.bin which just allows android to determine this - giving odd readings (such as "my battery lasts twice as long to get to 50%" but then it is twice as fast from then on). useful if you have a new battery or it's out of whack but certainly dont need to do it regularly, contrary to a report by a so called android technician the batterystats.bin isnt wiped on reboot.
Sorry I go on a bit, I like to try and educate people on battery and charging methods to ensure they get the best out of them.. so as timaaa says, plug in and charge, use and discharge a few times and you'll get an accurate battery reading.

Regardless of whether the battery is only discharging to 3v when you "fully" discharge it, repeating that process too many times is harmful to the long term life of the battery. I found an amazing article written by a battery scientist which contained some fantastic information, the core advice: don't repeatedly discharge your battery, top-up charges are the best way. If I can find a link I'll post it for reference.

The reason @timmaaa is saying that is because since our phone is so old (July 2012 release) it would be a bit weird to see a new phone there on ebay.
The first charge should be around 8 hours. Then you discharge once it hits 5% or so. Then charge it up full again, and let it die completely this time. and then charge full and don't worry about it again.
Now, more importantly, now that you have a new phone: WELCOME TO THE ONE XL FORUM! Hopefully we can see you around, trying out the various ROMs. A word of advice though: if you plan on trying these ROMs, I highly recommend you get root, boot unlock, and s-off all before you go and take the Sense 5 OTA that contains the latest (and non-unlockable) bootloader

It'd be highly unlikely for a phone that's over two years old now for there to be any new ones out in the marketplace at all. Even if it looks new, it's probably refurbished at best.

As pandasa said, you could try checking with HTC, short of that I don't have any ideas. If the phone performs well though it really doesn't matter if it isn't brand new, I only said that because if it isn't new I doesn't desperately need the usual first charge treatment.

Its always best to let it charge to 100% and immediately unplug it. If it has a chip to prevent overcharging, great. If not, this will protect battery life. My friend to fix his phones said that the worst thing you can do for a living in my own battery is to let it overcharge, which is letting it charge at 100% for an extended period of time. it's also best to let it drain as much as possible and recharged to 100 percent, but most importantly not to let it over charge at 100% for a long time.

That isn't completely true. You're right when you say you shouldn't hold it at 100% for long, because that reduces the long term life of the battery. But discharging it as much as possible before charging again is a bad idea. It's best to keep the battery above 25% and actually when charging it's best to disconnect before it reaches full capacity.

How do you suggest to charge it for the first time?
Thank you!

I usually never charge my battery to 100%. i always charge maximum of 90-95 and disconnect plug. Before recharging, i make sure it has discharged upto 30- 40%.However, sometimes atleast after a week i completely drain the battery to 0 and let it charge 100 percent. This is just a practice i read on a website but i dont see anything on 4 phones in 2 years. namely Htc explorer, Samsung galaxy grand, xperia L and now samsung grand prime. based on my experience to prolong battery life make sure you are in a cool enviorment.
Hi
So for the first charge, do you recommend to charge it first up to 100% before using and unplug?
Thanks.

That's perfectly fine. Not necessary, but fine.

Thanks.
And afterwards, do you recommend to charge it up to 100% or as some of the guys says here, up to 90%?
Thanks!

Hi!
My x2 started to freeze when charging. I started to wonder if it's because of the charger, because I lost the original one and just started to use a samsung charger I had in the drawer. Although I've been using it for a year now..
If someone would be so kind and post a pic or the details of the original charger so I could try if that would remedy the problem.
Thx
My experience is that the original charger is actually not as good as the Samsung charger by any means. The original charger I believe is actually out putting less than in this specification which is 2 amps. The Samsung charger is much better and charges the phone faster. However I have also noticed something really weird in that sometimes after charging the phone overnight my battery is only at around 80% or so and this is random because it only happens sometimes and most times it charges fully. Not sure if anybody else has seen this Behavior

So the original charger is 5V, 2A? Thanks. I'll try some other charger. It may be busted. Or I have to do a factory reset and see if that fixes the problem

Yes, yesterday my 2 year X2 started to do the same. I was stunned when after short time of charging I realised so phone was freezed and got quite hot on the back. Orange light slowly blinking and after restart it was 80% charged. I suppose it's problem with original charger. I have to look for another one...
//Edit - this is not original charger but Samsung - 5V/2A which till now was working without problems. It's not depends on charger type, occurs even during connecting to USB in PC.
//Edit - if you switch off charger and let it be some time, the phone starts anew. But, what is interesting, newly made TWRP nandroid backup turns out to be delted from SD card.during this 'blackout'..
//Edit - it starts occur not only during charging.. But in such case after self-acting restart phone goes to bootloop so it is needed to restart it manually and then it starts realatively quicker than normal.
Hmm.. could it be the battery dying? I'm using simply international B202 ROM. If changing the charger doesn't help I'll flash the newest ROM in and if even that doesn't fix it I guess I'll change the battery.
Same problem on mine but not when charging. Try my LineageOS 13 ROM, it's faster than EMUI and should make the phone feel faster again. I think Huawei is pulling an Apple and slowing our phones down as the battery dies.
I did a TWRP factory reset and the problem vanished! Hope it won't come back.. I'll try your lineage ajsmsg78 if necessary thx for the tip and all your work!
I have been having very unusual battery issues lately and I do not think it has to do with the charger at all but rather the physical battery itself.
Symptom 1: After charging overnight, by battery is only approx 79% charged
Symptom 2: Battery does MUCH quicker
Symptom 3: When battery gets to approx 20% it does right away giving the popup message that the battery is dead and the phone will turn off in 30 seconds - sounds like defective cell
Symptom 4: Putting the phone on charger when battery is critically low (10%) for 3 minutes, the battery level jumps to 90%
Does anyone know where we can buy a GOOD QUALITY battery to replace for the X2? I know there are some links on AliExpress but I do not know if I can trust those aftermarket batteries in terms of quality and life and reliability.
Also does anyone know how easy it is to replace? I have good soldering skills but don't know if here is more involved than that.
Edit: In the unlikely event that this is a software issue, I might try to clear my "batterystats.bin" file.

Unfortunately all those symptoms talk about battery dying state...

I thought about it either so will try it soon. Maybe switch to Lineage OS but I greatly appreciate smart case function in EMUI...

I took apart a Mate 9 and replaced some insides and it was really easy. The X2 shouldn't be any different. You don't have to solder anything, just pull up the flex cable connecting the battery to the motherboard and then pull on the tab on the bottom of the battery to remove the sticky tape underneath it then use some force to pull it up. I only see aftermarket batteries for the X2 so you may not have any other choice but to buy one of those. Your battery is definitely dying though.
