[Q] Back to Stock without USB - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there!
I have a problem: The USB-Port of my Nexus 5 doesn't work anymore. To be sure that I have full warranty I wanted to reset it to fully stock.
lastely I flashed:
Stock Android 5.0 (LRX210)
CWM Recovery (v. 6.0.4.5)
xposed framework
bootloader (HHZ12d) is open
rooted
I made a factory reset to check if this would fix my USB-Port but it did not help.
Since I cannot use the USB connection it's not so easy to get back to stock.
In the internet I only found solutions with adb and fastboot via USB.
Is it possible to flash the stock recovery with CWM?
I thought about locking the bootloader with the app 'Bootunlocker'.
In the moment I feel like i am on a one-way road that's why I wanted to ask before I lock/flash/unroot something which I need for a later step and cannot recover without USB access..
I want to thank you here in advance and sorry for language mistakes (i am not a native speaker)

efrant explained all the steps on the N4 forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34749844&postcount=2
Once again this guide is for NEXUS 4 so do not flash the mentioned files!

Here is a plan i came up with after searching on the web:
Flashing a Stock Rom with CWM to uninstall Xposed framework completly.
Root via CWM.
Locking the bootloader with 'Bootunlocker'.
Using the 'Untamper' button in 'Bootunlocker'.
Using 'Flashify' to flash the stock recovery.
Unroot completely in 'SuperSU'.
Are all steps possible in this order?? Or did I make a mistake in my plan?

Can I use this version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/rom-nexus-5-port-4-4-2-kot49h-odexed-10-t2507021
Plus boot.img and recovery from here:
http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-cu...oogle-nexus-factory-images-06-may-2014-a.html
This would be a downgrade from android 5.0 to 4.4.2 is that okay with e.g. CWM or something else?!
Or is there a lollipop version? Always when I found odexed versions they seem to be not really stock anymore like this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...om-xtraslim-1-0-stock-odex-optimized-t2924150

No! Do not flash files from Nexus 4 forum. You have a Nexus 5 so only flash files for this specific device otherwise you'll brick it.
Here's a thread maintained by vomer for stock flashables: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/rom-n5-l-developer-preview-t2796003
Check other threads to find flashable zips for the boot.img and recovery.img. Or you can flash the stock boot.img (only) with Flashify app.
No prob to keep CWM during the process even if using TWRP would be safer.

Stock recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/recovery-zip-collection-t2636279 (last file to flash!)
You should have the stock kernel after flashing vomer's zip.
Follow the instruction order as indicated by efrant. As a reminder: Warning: if your USB port is indeed broken, and you complete all the steps below, you will have NO possible way at all to unlock your bootloader, or get root, or install a custom recovery. Period.

How to upgrade to new latest Asus firmware through custom recovery

Check the device firmware type by going to Setting - about tablet - built number
Download the right firmware pack for your device.
http://www.asus.com/Tablet/Transformer_Pad/ASUS_Transformer_Pad_Infinity_TF700T/#download
Now extract the zip file and you will have another zip file.
Rename that zip file as "EP201_768_SDUPDATE" and place it to an external sd card if you do not have a custom recovery. If you are rooted and unlocked plus you have a custom recovery you don't need to rename it you can place it in internal sd is well.
Now turn off your device. Hold power button including the volume down button and enter custom recovery. For stock recovery it should detect it automatically and will install. once in custom recovery clear your cache and install the file with the name above or whatever name you have. once installation is complete. reboot the system be patient and you have the latest update.
You can obtain root easily using this method.
Just download the DebugfsRoot_Generic_v2.3.zip file from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1706588
extract the content and run RootDebugfs, then follow the on screen instruction and you will have root.
Make sure you have USB debugging on.
To get custom recovery. Download goomanager from playstore and you can install TWRP recovery from the option list. which is Option - install OpenRecoveryScript.
I am not responsible if you mess up your device. do these at your own risk. Nonetheless these steps work perfectly for me.
Renaming is not needed.

Wrong, flashing an official rom will make you loose the custom recover too, you will have a clean stock rom once you do that. AND also this thread has nothing to share with the development forum.

Where in there? Can;t find it?
1) If I am on a custom ROM can I flash the new update or I have to go back to STOCK first?
2) What's the big deal with loosing CWR and Root, it takes like 2 min to put it back, I mean there is another way to not loose it?
Thanks
I also have a question! Will this allow for OTA updates even if our bootloader is unlocked? And will we be able to flash the JB update from ASUS manually if not? Anyone know?

You don't need to have stock rom. As long as you have the stock kernel your ok. You will of course lose custom recovery but its easy to download again as i have mentioned in my first post.
There is a lengthy way to do this. But why do that when it takes you literally 2 minute to root it with DebugfsRoot .
Hope it went well for you.

Its easy, it requires ADB drivers instaled in PC and ADB commands to execute.
So, in TWRP you make a full WIPE, format data also.
Then you reboot recovery and over advanced you activate adb sideload.
Then connect phone to PC and send the zip file with command:
adb sideload name_of_the_rom.zip
Then just wait ADB send file to phone and then Recovery start flash of ROM .

With TWRP it works, i tested, other Recovery i dont know if they have sideload option.
Relative to OTA yes, with stock recovery you can have OTA. But i dont have stock recovery from this one since dump dont contain firmware.zip
Dont know if firmware.zip from 2.24.709.1 it will do the trick, but sincerelly i dont wait from OTA updates, its a loss of time

Thats correct, i did not know Mike already put the firmware zip, thanks for tell me in
Another thing, you must unlock bootloader to flash TWRP.
If needed you can have S-OFF and flash latest RUU x.xx.401.x and you are good to GO.
Cheers
Would this work with T-Mobile/AT&T versions?
Also sideloading doesn't touch the "sdcard" content right. We would just need to do a factory reset.

TWRP install question..I'm on 4.4.2, Rooted, Unlocked

Ok, so I'm just looking for final confirmation before I install my TWRP2710-RAZR-HD_M-KITKAT image...going to just fastboot flash it on there using the files in my Motopocalypse folder, but do I need to rename some file in the system folder or something before I do this? Seems like I had to do that in the JB era and I can't find much for the KK version. Noob question I know. Do I just put my phone in fastboot mode and flash away or is there a step prior to that? Thanks in advance.
Just follow the directions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2776515

Not sure why you think you have to rename something to flash a new recovery. Yeah, maybe the instructions had you rename the recovery image file or something, but no. Just flash it per the instructions the previous poster linked to. It's really that simple.
Good luck!

The only thing about Flashify that I don't like is you need to be already rooted.
Otherwise, if you're not rooted, then you can't root until you put on a custom recovery, which means you need to use fastboot to flash CWM or TWRP and then sideload root. Then you'd be able to flash TWRP or CWM. Kind of the chicken and the egg conundrum.
Everyone should know how to do it via fastboot because you may not have root to install TWRP or any other custom recovery. It's always good to know how to do things from the command line because there may come a time when you have no other option.

I believe they can only be installed when they update them with the new kitkat bootloader. There are some builds by dhacker29 that I have tried that worked but are in progress. You would need to reflash back to JB bootloader to use the official CM11 nightlies.

Oneplus one downgrade 6.0.1 to 4.4.4

Hi, Is it possible to go back to 4.4.4 from 6.0.1?
i think its possible , with cm11s. just try it, and let us know ! dont forget to backup , just incase
its CM13 back to CM11. Which software should I use. Read a lot of topics but, which one is for my phone?
I think you'll have to download 44s firmware and install it before you proceed with the rom.

You can! There are multiple way to do it:
First of all, you have the option to dual boot your phone with 4.4.4 using multirom or EFIdroid (not sure about EFIdroid)
You can just flash the full 4.4.4 zip as secondary rom, however! you NEED to flash the 4.4.4 modem in order to make the proximity sensor to work.
You can also just flash 4.4.4 as main ROM without using multirom or EFIdroid, make sure you wipe all the partitions first, then flash the full rom.
There is also the QHS_Bulk way.
First restore your phone using the color.zip in this guide.
When on color os (the chinese 4.4.4) you can fastboot flash the cm11s rom over it (step 4 in the guide, but make sure you use the cm11s rom).
Have fun!
You can but you need to flash KitKat firmware for oneplus one, also you need to find a compatible recovery menu to flash the ROM and firmware. Be sure to keep a backup of anything goes wrong
try this https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/how-to-back-to-stock-repair-system.225170/#post-8737053 , it might help.
