Judging by the fact that your picture very obviously lists several LTE bands, I would wager to guess that yours is an LTE variant.

Sure looks like LTE written right on the box, along with supported frequencies...

APN settings? Carrier restrictions/capabilities? I don't know...I don't live in India.

Just realized you said iPhone there. [emoji33] Not an "apples to apples" comparison there (pun intended).
Did you verify that the settings inside the APNs match? Same exact carrier and plan? Data roaming turned on/off? A LOT of variables here...
Some ROMs display 4G, and others show LTE on the same network and APN. It could depend on your radio version, as well add internal carrier provisioning settings too (accessed through a dialer code).
Some custom ROMs will let you change what is displayed on the radio icon as well. But that's semantics.
Try a speed test to actually measure throughput.

[Q] LTE on Straight Talk?

Upon using my Straight Talk Nexus 5 with an AT&T sim, I noticed the data connection displayed LTE, which I've never seen before on Straight Talk. Is anybody else noticing this change? As far as I can tell on their website they still only support up to 3G speeds...I'm using the tfdata APN.
Here's pictures of LTE in the status bar as well as my speed test with two/four bars:

Is this a new thing or does anybody know what's up?
EDIT: after looking further into it I saw people have been getting LTE on the Nexus 5 with Straight Talk since the 15th of November withe new AT&T sim card and tfdata APN settings. I'm still curious however as to why LTE is just kicking in now instead of a month ago when I got the phone, with the same setup.
It's been a few months they started offering Lte service

ST has been supporting AT&T LTE since release of their "new" SIM cards which use the tfdata APN. Not knowing where you live, I suspect AT&T just rolled it out in your area.
Are you using the ST recommended APN settings, or have you modified them slightly as some websites recommend?
This.... The main reason I moved from Note to Nexus 5. Very quick. The other change they made recently is to be more clear on data usage. I think it explicitly states 2.5 GB now before throttling. Be careful with that LTE!

I'm using the recommended APN settings from apn.straighttalkbyop.com, for zip code 53095, although now I am curious of what changes are recommended, and their benefits?

I don't think I've ever gone a month without reaching 2.5 GB on straight talk....
It's not enough!
Anyone get a txt from ST today about an update and to reset you phone? I reset my phone and my wallpaper changed, they add proxy and port back to my APN. Anyone get this or just me?

LTE and existing MOTO G

Now that Moto G LTE is announced, could it be that our chipset support LTE and is disabled and by flashing right radio patches we might also get LTE? Nexus 4 could do it too this way.

Maybe there is a chance because Moto G has the same hidden menu *#*#4636#*#* like nexus 4 and there are the same options about LTE.
LTE
hello, there is the option of LTE, but when I select it does not fix ...

I wish people would stop quoting the nexus 4 as if it's some kind of successful miracle.
Yeah it had LTE 4g but it was bloody useless to 99% of people as it was only band 4.
Like the nexus 4 ours is probably missing the modem and antennas.

Of course no. but for people who got it working got additional benefit at no cost. So i thought its an interesting idea. (that's the XDA spirit )
Also it seems the chipset does support LTE out of the box.
Of course its a complete fail for me cause 4G in India is TD-LTE.
Edit: It seems the chipset supports TD-LTE too. Cant wait to get Moto G with LTE launch

slow LTE or carrier problem?

I'm running mahdi rom, and I'm with a Canadian carrier called Wind.
Their plan prices were great so I thought I would go for it.
My absolute best I can get on speedtest was:
134ms ping | 4.39mbps down | 0.33 mbps up on Cybera server
72ms ping | 6.##mbps down | then I get network error on Shaw server
120ms ping | 2.49mbps down | 0.11mbps up on Telus server
I don't know if its the device's problem or software problem or carrier problem.

Most likely is the device. I contacted support, but still waiting to hear back. You can try to adjust your APN settings.

huh.
I can't even seem to submit a support ticket.
Do you have any recommendation on what to edit in my APN settings?

Try this
Settings> mobile network > access point names>WIND?
Then enter these in. Do take screenshots or note the previous settings beforehand changing them.

Running stock buddy. I ran M9, C11s, and few others. Also Kernels & tried every radio out there and nada.
I highly doubt it's the device. I get very good speeds on this thing.

didn't change a thing.
So I went ahead and put in my sim from Koodo and I definitely get atleast 10mbps download everytime.
I think it might be Wind thats giving me problems.

It most certainly is. The most I ever got on HSPA+ on a clear night near a tower was 10mbps down so I would say that 3 sounds about right. HSPA+ on average sists between 3 and 8 Mbps down. Koodo uses the might of the omnipresent Telus towers I would take them over wind anytime.

Mate 8 Internet Issue with T-Mobile

I just bought my Mate 8 with build number NXT-L29C636B103, but I have been experiencing mobile data issues with my T-mobile carrier that only when I get 4G symbol, I can go online. Whenever I am getting either 3G or H+, I can not connect to internet at all.
I have tried my wife's T-mobile phone, at the same location, her phone will get 4G LTE, my phone will have 4G, whenever she is getting 4G, I am getting H+ or 3G, which I can not go online anymore but on her phone, it still works.
Is is because of the version of the Mate 8 I am getting or the setting is wrong, please help. I have 5 more days to return this phone if it does not work out. (I really like this phone a lot............)
These international devices do not proclaim signal as LTE, they call it 4G. Most devices do not maintain LTE while phone's on. Signal strength varies from device to device. Use more objective measures such as signal strength meters and speedtest.net app. I have the L10 version (Chinese) and do get LTE. What color and ram you have?

What program are you using to display network speed on your notification panel ?
That's a setting in the phone settings - notification panel and status bar - you can set it there and also take out the carrier name out of there.

Did you figure out if your mate 8 is catching LTE and if the speeds are comparable to native t-mobile devices?

This is the international version L29, without anything like rooting or roming done too it.

NXT-DL00 here on T-Mobile in the USA. No problems using 3G/H/H+

Network Settings in the US

What is the best network setting to use for the Mate 9 (MHA-L29) in the US? I'm on AT&T, and it defaulted to "LTE/WCDMA/GSM Auto". The other options are "WCDMA/GSM Auto", "WCDMA only", and "GSM Only".
Should I switch to GSM Only since I'm on AT&T? And would that effect LTE? This is the first time I've purchased an international phone for use in the US, so thiso r anything else about this situation is welcome! Thanks!

Yes. That means that it would switch automatically. If you select any of the others you will lose 4G. Unless you have bad 4G reception or otherwise have connection problems, there is little reason to move away from auto.

Not that I'm aware of. However I'm not a US user so I guess I wouldn't know anyway.
On Auto, the phone will (should) detect the network type and respond accordingly.
An app like Network Signal Info will tell you what you are connected to.
I'm using the Chinese version in the USA on the t-mobile network and everything works fine.
