There's something taking up an enormous amount of storage and it's driving me insane! Something called System Data. It sounds important, but then again so is my storage space. I'm rooted but I don't know if it's possible to lessen even remove.

Just curious what is considered normal for android OS usage? Mine shows 9-20% range when I check it under my settings.

It's a Russian botnet used to topple the UN!
Haha, but, seriously, it's just the underlying system processes, such as brightness regulation, network regulation; you know, system stuff.
Edit: Oh, I thought you asked what it was. I feel like an idiot. Mine is around 19-20, but that's because I have a lot of crap tacked onto it.
All I have is Facebook and twitter and they are set to manual everything. Do you think that this looks normal? It used to be at 4% up until last week and it's really bothering me. I haven't downloaded anything new.

What are you using? Any car program...or games? That's a crazy amount of space being used. Can't you open it up and see where it's coming from?

No. I flashed stock and started over. If it starts again I'll let everyone know.
No need to buy a SD card when you can just to a cleanup and get 100gb of space! LOL
Where i have my free space. By the picture it must be free about 1.5 gb and i got 800mb and when i click on application is show 1gb of free internal memory. What is wrong.

Use the app DiskUsage . This will allow you that there is best some free space used for "system data", whatever that is.
Thanks, alot better. It was one 1.5gb file in obb file from asphalt game. After kitkat come i make factory reset and somehow file stay there without installing game again. This is why the native app dont count it.

Hi.
I'm using Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G25F) and I'm trying to move an app to system but it says system storage is full. I have been searching for a while but couldn't find any solution, every search result take to "how to free up internal storage" but what i need is to free up system storage. My device is rooted and my storages reads as:
Root: 1.57MB free of 3.53GB
Internal storage: 2.8GB free of 25.31GB
So the one I need to free up is root as i need to move an app to system and its not possible if its full.
P.S: i didnt install any apps in system or I would have deleted or moved them to internal storage. I dont even know what taking up all this space.

Hi all
I've analysed my data partition and there's about 5gb of temporary files allocated to data/local/.drm

Is it safe to delete the temp files as that's a lot of space given my device has only 16gb internal and the color os doesn't allow app to SD transfer?
Thanks
Paul

Yes
I had the same problem. My oppo sometimes, totally randomly, mostly when it's plugged in, goes in a writing spree and creates these huge files in the /data/local/.Drm folder, up to choking the phone into freezing and preventing it from starting again. Luckily I had the teamwin recovery and I could free up some space to let it start again.
Anyway, I have this problem regularly. I just delete all those files or the entire folder and the phone is back to normal, no loss or no other collateral effect. I can't understand if it's a virus/malware that I have our anything else
