Before I begin, trust me when I say I have scurried through dozens of Google results, forums, blogs, YouTube videos, FAQ's and other things trying to find out how to unbrick this thing. I have a Kindle Fire first gen which I rooted using Kindle Fire Utility through superuser 3 days ago. All was well, as I had google play and an innovative new launcher. After downloading a few apps, I thought that I had finally made the Kindle the fully-functional Android tablet I had desired. However, after a few hours of seamless use, the Kindle decided to freeze on me. Holding the power button still brought up the "Do you wish to power down your Kindle?" notification, and I shut it down, planning on restarting it. However, when I turned it back on, it would not get past the animated Kindle Fire logo. The weird part was, I could still hear notification tones. I was using my phone to DM on Twitter, and when I would get a message back, I could hear the twitter notification on my Kindle. (No, I was not mistaking it for the phone). After a while, I could hear that sound it makes when the battery was about to die. I plugged it in, and after two hours I unplugged it, held the power button to shut it down, and started searching google for answers. I was advised to use the Kindle Fire Utility to launch it in fastboot mode, which only restars the Kindle with no success. I have tried all options on the KF utility, even Permaroot. If I install TWRP recovery, it gets stuck on waiting for device. On most options, it gets stuck on waiting for device. (I have tried all the unplugging, unpowering options I saw). The computer makes a sound when the KF is plugged in, but it doesn't come up on the devices with removeable storage tab. I have all drivers installed, it is ADB enabled through the device manager, I have the Java Developer Kit, as well as Android SDK. The only thing I can get any utility to do (I have tried many such as Kindle Brick, SuperOneClick,etc) is restart the Kindle as if I did it myself. It still makes all the notification tones I mentioned earlier. One thing I have noticed, though, is that when the Kindle is 10 seconds from dying, the Unlock Screen will appear with no response. I have tried several times to let it get to that point, then quickly plug it in, but no sucess. It just restarts on the same boot screen. I have no idea what to do. I'm not a developer by any means, but I'm good with following directions I'm given to mess with computers and such. I don't have much knowledge of the command prompt, either. I just made this post as a last resort. Someone please help. (Running Windows 10 techncinal preview on a Windows 8, 64-bit laptop if that helps)

okay, so i'm very new to this rooting concept.
i rooted 2 days ago using Z4Root. It seems to have worked, installing SuperUser.
A friend directed me to BlackDroid.net, supposedly to get free apps. I went from my default browser on my Samsung Fascinate and installed a few apps.
One app i installed was Type Fresh. I was messing around with the fonts within the app, trying to understand what was actually changing on the phone. I had rebooted the device around 5 times within an hour after making (what I thought were) font changes.
After changing some fonts, the device began to malfunction:
- Upon reboot, the device will show the Samsung logo while playing the intro music for Galaxy S & Verizon Wireless.
- The device never gets passed this screen.
- After a battery pull, the device showed "downloading - do not turn off target!!!"
- I read in these forums that a battery pull should help. No luck. It still boots up the Samsung logo screen only.
- I've tried a factory reset by holding the volume keys and power button, but the device ONLY boots up into the samsung logo screen.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

i have a macbook and considering installing a 30-day free trial of vmware to restore the phone. i didnt, but even if i did, i would have no clue what i was doing. im a quick learner with good directions, but some of the verbiage is not familiar to me.
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot, but I couldn't post in the other specifically Kindle Fire forum because I don't have enough posts. (Ahem, none.) But I'm really very desperate. If anyone could help me, or walk me through the process of what I need to do, I'd be very grateful.
Alright, so here's the situation. I love my Kindle Fire, but like many, I hate the carousel. So I heard about using Go Launcher to fix that problem. I downloaded the APK file to my KF and installed it. Then my KF froze. I started freaking out. I restarted it and made it to the unlock screen, I was given the option to boot with GoLauncher or Amazon Launcher, but it wouldn't let me choose either option. Then the screen just goes black and stays that way.
The only other information I can give you is when I restart and the Kindle Fire logo pops up, it disappears really quickly and then reappears. It does this a couple times, then it does its usual animation with the sheen or whatever. Then the lock screen, then the option again but won't let me choose anything.
I have a Macbook Pro, and it will still let me connect via USB. I just have no idea how to fix it. I tried using the tutorial but I couldn't understand it. I've never rooted anything before and don't even know where to begin.
I know I'm an incompetent idiot who shouldn't have messed with something I didn't fully understand. I'd really appreciate your help.

I rooted my Kindle Fire with the Kindle Fire Utility a while ago and after a month or so of everything being fine I am now having the whole system just lock up. It usually happens when the Fire is idle, not totally shut down but "turned off". I will notice that the power button light is orange even though it is not plugged in for charging. When I open the case it is stuck on the boot screen (the FireFireFire one) like it rebooted but only made it part way.
I can shut it off with the 20 second reset but then it locks again when trying to turn on. I found that I can use the KF Utility to force it into Normal Boot mode and then it is fine for a while. Then it will do it again.
This was a refurbed Fire so I am thinking it may be a hardware issue. If it is not does anyone know how to fix this? Or how I can remove everything that the KF Utility put on there so I can see about getting a replacement from Amazon since it is under warranty still. I am leaning this way because there are a couple other minor issues with it also.

I wouldn't think rooting would cause problems, though apps and commands that use root may cause problems. Can you leave it plugged into the computer with "adb logcat" running, to check if it give a relevant error message?
When I rooted my kindle fire I had similar issues. I found it to be the ROM I was using. Did some searching on the forums here and found the ReloadedROM and that has since fixed all those issues. I would give a different ROM a try and see if that solves any troubles you are having.

I have my old TF101 that I put KatKiss on many many years ago it's at Android 4.4.2. It worked just fine when I used to use it but haven't for many years. I wanted to use the tablet as a digital picture frame for my dad so I fired it up but I'm having issues. I get a pop up that says Google Play Services has stopped and when I click OK, that comes up every so often repeatedly. I know my Android OS is really old so I figured maybe I could install something newer but it's been so long I honestly have no idea how to go about doing that any more
I can Reboot to Recovery which shows I have TWRP 2.6.3.0 with the standard buttons for Install, Backup, etc.
Can anyone let me know if there's a ROM for this device that is known to be relatively stable? Should I look into going back to the stick OS it came with? All I want to do is install the Fotoo app and use it as a slideshow so I don't really need anything to work on it other than Wifi.
If anyone could walk me through the step-by-step instructions on getting from where I cam now to something fresh installed, I'd really appreciate it.
I saw a post about EasyFlasher from a while back but I can't seem to get the tablet into APX mode. I hold down the Vol Up button but it just boots up to the desktop like it would any other time so I'm not sure what options I have here.

Following the simple tutorial of using Fire Toolbox v18.0 on youtube, I installed Google Services. When I tried to bring up an app, I got a message like you don't have permission to use this app and check the parental control. I thought that the problem might resolve after restarting the tablet. However, the tablet doesn't pass the logo screen after restarting. The tablet is useless due to the problem. Any solution?
I hope that I can get some helpful tips this time.
Did you enable ADB beforehand? That could help you fix it - otherwise, factory reset.
Can't remember whether I did that or not.
