okay, so i'm very new to this rooting concept.
i rooted 2 days ago using Z4Root. It seems to have worked, installing SuperUser.
A friend directed me to BlackDroid.net, supposedly to get free apps. I went from my default browser on my Samsung Fascinate and installed a few apps.
One app i installed was Type Fresh. I was messing around with the fonts within the app, trying to understand what was actually changing on the phone. I had rebooted the device around 5 times within an hour after making (what I thought were) font changes.
After changing some fonts, the device began to malfunction:
- Upon reboot, the device will show the Samsung logo while playing the intro music for Galaxy S & Verizon Wireless.
- The device never gets passed this screen.
- After a battery pull, the device showed "downloading - do not turn off target!!!"
- I read in these forums that a battery pull should help. No luck. It still boots up the Samsung logo screen only.
- I've tried a factory reset by holding the volume keys and power button, but the device ONLY boots up into the samsung logo screen.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Wish I could help. Do you have a custom recovery??

i have nothing. i don't even fully understand your question, unfortunately.
(dunno if this is related or not...)
i have a macbook and considering installing a 30-day free trial of vmware to restore the phone. i didnt, but even if i did, i would have no clue what i was doing. im a quick learner with good directions, but some of the verbiage is not familiar to me.

Please Help!!
I am running Gummycharged 1.75 - all has been stable since I installed it 4 or 5 weeks ago.
However, just about an hour ago I got up (couldn't sleep) and while I was ultra drowsy picked up my phone and went to use it
It was sitting at an open contact for one of my customers whom I had called about 7pm last night.
I inadvertently hit the call button and the phone started dialing this contact - at 4am!!!
I was frantic to stop dialing and I don't know why (other than I was drowsy and just waking up) but I couldn't get to the normal dialer screen to simply hit END CALL so I long pressed the power button and selected RESTART - while the phone was relentlessly dialing - aaarghhh
Well, now the phone is stuck at the SAMSUNG logo - no matter how long I wait, it just sits at the SAMSUNG white logo screen.
I have removed the battery (leaving it out for various lengths of time) and every time I re-insert the battery and try to restart it is the same thing - the phone simply won't boot past the SAMSUNG logo.
What happened?
Please, please, please, I am desperate.
Thanks, Steve
This should go in the general section...
I hope you had backups of your apps and contacts, etc. because you're going to have to reflash...

The reason I did not post it in general was because I am running a non stock ROM - GUMMYCHARGED - I certainly want to post in the best possible forum area. I was thinking my problem might be related to this fact - that I have a non stock ROM - so I posted in the section where all of the discussions surrounding non stock ROMS are.
At the end of the day, I am totally happy moving this post to where it best belongs.
To answer your question - all of my contacts are via Google so I will have lost zero contacts.
Regarding anything else - there are a few photos I will lose, but that is about it.
Are you 100% sure I need to re-flash? If I need to re-flash, can someone point me to "step by step" guide or thread, etc.?
Thx!
Well, if you can get into CWM you could try wiping caches or something (probably won't do much), but I doubt you can. I had this problem when I moved back from gingerbread to froyo and the maker of my rom forgot to put in a kernel. Just sits at the samsung screen and can't do ANYTHING. I fixed by reflashing.

Anything stored you your SD card will be fine, your pictures and some apps.
Download Charge Kit V1 and it will get you back to where you want to be with Gummycharged.

Hello, I am attempting to do something that I didn't think would be that hard and it has ran me into so many problems.
I have the Samsung Galaxy s4 Active. So I now have gained root acess, but I found out I cannot change the boot animation that easily for samsung phones because they use a different something. So I go through the trouble of downloading a ton of crap and making a animation compatible with my phone, set it up, and email it to my device copy paste to system/media and ovverrite existing. Rebooted, Said samsung then custom under it with a unlocked lock. Rebooting ever since does nothing so I gave up with that and decided to look into a mod allowing using basic bootanimation.zip like all other phones, But for Samsung active can't use Clockwork mod or whatever so I gotta get something else called Flash Gordon. When I go to download it on my phone, I get an error. First it says "Connecting to Dl.xda.developers and then it'll say Sorry, this player does not support this type of audio file and I'm at a loss because now my phone will not lock or time out the screen. When I hit the lock button it won't lock. It works fine becuase if I hold it it pulls up turn off and crap. I just made sure in settings that screen timeout is set at 15 sec and it won't timeout already tried reboot for fixing that and it didn't help. I feel like giving up right now..
Hey guys new to the forum and somewhat to rooting (rooted my droid x). I rooted my s3 about two weeks ago using the causal root process and loaded the HYPERDRIVE ROM, which by the way, im really enjoying it. Im having some issue with the Pandora App. When i start it up, it will show the play screen and the loading icon. I have shut it down brought it back up, reboot, lock screen and unlock screen, uninstalled and re installed, wipe cache, even installed the "FREE" Pandora One App. After about 20- 25 mins trying to get it to play, it will run and not miss a beat until i close it out and try and start it up again. I have perfect 4g and also have tried doing it over wifi with same results. Can anyone help out or give any advice on how to solve this issue.
Thanks,
Rick
hi all,
i stupidly decided to root my moto g - i say 'stupidly' bc i clearly didn't have the knowledge to have that much power... it was working fine for several weeks & then it started having issues booting & charging if i accidentally let the battery get too low. that happened a couple times & i was able to get it working again by charging it in different ways (wall, computer) & letting it alone for a day or so. but then the other day i turned it on & i got the 'Unfortunately System UI has stopped working' & gave me the option to click 'I'm feeling lucky.' once pressed the phone would boot up (though it took much longer than usual) & when it finally did, i'd get various messages such as 'exchange services has stopped,' motorola notifications has stopped,' 'System UI has stopped' - basically everything has stopped & they just kept popping up & then the phone would freeze. before the phone would freeze, in between messages, i could still get into my apps & other parts of my phone, but it would always eventually freeze after a few minutes (or less). i tried various troubleshooting techniques (reboot in recovery, factory reset, etc) which eventually led to doing a hard factory reset. unfortunately, i believe at some point before all the problems started i must have deleted some system things i shouldn't have, including the stock launcher (i was using Buzz Launcher) so now it's returned to factory but missing some vital components.
here's the current state of my phone: it will boot up (though it takes much longer than usual) but as soon as it does i get the message 'unfortunately, system UI has stopped,' 'exchange services has stopped,' 'motorola notification has stopped,' & 'System UI has stopped' again. when i click on 'ok' for that last message, i get the flash of a weird red window & then just a black screen that shows the (correct) time, battery level & phone signal in the upper right corner but it's frozen. before it freezes completely, the only thing i can get into/click anyway is the status bar at the top but the window doesn't even drop down. so the phone is basically booted up but useless.
i've done tons of research & looked into using a toolkit or flashing android/moto stock but i'm using a Chromebook & nothing is compatible with it that i've found so far. & i'm not even sure how to get into the phone via a Chromebook, if it's possible.
PLEASE HELP!! i'm getting desperate. can't afford to buy a new phone right now & i really need this thing to work again.
SHORT STORY: Moto G, System UI has stopped, missing some vital stock stuff, phone boots up, no launcher, Chromebook, last system i was using was Lollipop
does anyone have any idea...? also, keep in mind i'm clearly not as knowledgeable about this stuff as most of you or i never would've gotten myself into this situation. so keep your responses as if responding to Android/Moto G for Dummies. ;-P Thanks!!
Flash a custom ROM via custom recovery
Check out CM11/12. I have the boost 3g version with Blisspop (CM12) and it works great.
Also, if you created a backup before you went root you might try restoring it instead of factory reset.
Make a wipe, or reflash the rom
Chromebook
thanks for the replies guys but my issue is trying to do any of the above from a CHROMEBOOK. in order to flash a ROM though, I need to install the Motorola android device driver & I've yet to find one that's compatible with Chromebook - I'm not sure there is one... anyone have any experience in flashing ROM or any other Moto G fixes from a CHROMEBOOK? thanks.
Can u still access your recovery?
When my Archos FamilyPad 2 first arrived I was so excited. It was a pre-owned one that I got from Amazon. I took it out and the battery was dead. So I plugged it up to charge for about 15 minutes before I turned it on with the charger still intact. Alright. Everything was fine as I saw the previous owners apps and games on the home page. First thing I did was performed a factory reset from the settings menu. I noticed that the developers option had already been turned on. So I was thinking I would have to tap the build number after the factory reset to get the developers option back on. To my surprise it was already cooked into the OS for some reason. So I started tinkering with it while everything was starting to update. The only way I know how to root is through KingRoot. So that's what I always use to root my devices. The root was successful as it is about 75% of the time with KingRoot. Everything checked out with Root Checker and root was properly installed by KingRoot. Then I got superuser access and granted all permissions. Got BusyBox in and xposed framework. I overclocked it to see what it would do. It ran pretty decent for a duo core with 1 GB of RAM. So I began to start messing with the LCD display and density to make the resolution a bit better and sharper. And it worked. Changed the system font with Font Master. And changed the things that needed to be changed for the system to read it as running Android 6.0.1. So then I wanted to cut the boot time in half by turning off the boot animations. Reboot and yes it did work. I then started to wonder how customized boot animations would look. The .IMG boot animation that I wanted to see is the new Android boot up logo. So I restarted the tablet without turning the boot animations back on. So it started doing a boot loop at that point. So I went into Recovery Mode to try to do a hard reset and I rebooted it again. It can never get past the initial Archos logo now. Even after a hard reset. I don't know how to take the battery out. So I let the battery drain. I thought it may be the same as taking the battery out and resetting it. Well it still just shows the first Archos logo and then the screen goes blank and never gets to the lock screen anymore. Does anyone know a solution to this? Or is it over for this Archos FamilyPad?
