Yellow band in general - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, got this phone a month ago and I've read about this yellow band thing much as I'm also "blessed" with it.
Well what I wanna know are two things:
First: I tried the software fix by Aaahh for the yellow band and actually it's working pretty good. Like some users already mentioned when using this you get a blue band at the bottom when looking at a dark screen.
Well I just would like to know if someone could explain why it is like that as I'm not understanding it. Shouldn't the blue and the yellow compensate each other and thus not being noticeable no matter where. I somehow don't get it.
And besides that, would it be possible to integrate this feature within the firmware together with the intelligent backlight function like in cm11s? I'm not having any knowledge about development (yet) but for me it looks like it is possible to let the app use the filter when being on bright screens and deactivate it when on dark screens.
Second: I've read this band mainly exists cause of false lighting of the led at the bottom (sry if this sentence grammatically isn't right, sounds false to me ). So wouldn't it be possible to give the led lights at the bottom another light strength than the rest of the screen or something like that? Similar like with dorimanx or apolo kernel and the led from the onscreen buttons (from galaxy s2)?
I'm aware some questions might sound foolish, but I didn't find threads asking that and I'm not sure if my idea is completely wrong. But I thought better risk some dumb questions rather than let an possible solution slip through.
Besides I'm just waiting for somebody posting a video on YouTube bringing a hardware fix or something

Some other question also is coming to my mind. Would it cure the problem by replacing the screen of my opo?

[Q] Grid/Lines against a gray background

I just received this phone today brand new. I rooted and ROM(NSCollab Sprint 1.0.51) since I'm fairly familiar with the process coming from a Vibrant. I noticed that when the background is a shade of gray(like a dark scene of a movie), I can see lines and grids in the background covering the entire screen. I didn't take notice prior to flashing the ROM. Is this a known ROM issue or do I need to replace my phone?
Thanks,
You probably need to download voodoo control app and adjust your color settings.

Unfortunately I've tried that with no luck. ill see if I can attach a picture of it.
I suppose if you can't see the lines when you zoom into the picture, than it must be my screen.
I don't see any lines in that screenshot. It looks perfect.

It's the screen. I recall reading somewhere about someone else having your issue though, like a whole grid coverying the screen in a darker shade. Probably read on XDA... Use the search function and you might get lucky, because I don't remember how it ended.
I got the same lines, but i think its just the screen?
Sent from my Nexus S
My nexus s has the same effect on backgrounds of that color, and the Engadget review even pointed that out:
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/12/nexuss6001.jpg.
I don't think it's a quality control issue as it effects most of their AMOLED screens (I also saw it on a Focus and it's on my Cowon S9 too), more like Samsung cutting costs somehow. Just a fact of life with Samsung.
I guess replacing the phone wouldn't help....man I miss my vibrant screen.

Light Flow updated to work with the USA version of the SGS3.. if your rooted

Been following the dev over on his blog that makes Light Flow. When the USA version of the SGS3 came out, it busted Light Fow (you can read the blog for full details). He just pushed version 3.0.5 to the market that for root users, should work all except flashing LED (except for red, blue). So, if your not rooted, it still will not work.
YAY great news!
Just saw this in the play store ha've you tried it yet?

Yea, its a bit glitchy still. I wouldnt say its fixed 100% yet. But its usable for text messages and missed calls etc.

using it now. done several tests and all has worked so far for me. my colors are showing correct. my notifications are all firing. it cycles through multiple notifications (like when you get a MMS, email and missed call) from the tests I have done. I had some initial issues (lag) when I first installed it, but all seems fine now.
before it was 100% unusable, you can read why in the blog, now it is like 98% usable. The big bummer is that only like red and blue can flash, every other color has to be solid. But the dev claims with LED, this has minimal to no battery effect - which I kind of find hard to believe.
So I guess we get to talk about this in quadruplicate in each one of the carrier forums?
I hope Samsung gets around to explaining the non-stardard notification system they decided to use in the US version.
Anyhow, seems to be working fairly well for me. The one thing I noticed is that, with some notifications, it initially comes on as a different color than chosen in light flow, but then a split second later, the light flow color comes on and stays.
Is it first using the color baked in to the app and then light flow is taking over quickly after that? Anyone else noticed that? Any way to have that not happen (though it's not in a big deal).

Yes I now admit I have seen this glitch also but I had not yet determined if it is as you say it or if it was firing the last color used then firing your desired color. I think your logic is the issue.

Make sure you switch off all the "led indicators" in the phone settings otherwise it'll be fighting against the default notifications.

Do you mean the 3 items I have indeed led indicators in phone settings or should I also go into each app that i have light flow notifications set up for and disable any options for led notifications that each app might have?

I only did the 3 led indicator items in phone settings, I did not go into each individual app and turn off notifications and so I have no redundant notifications. We give Light Flow the power to take over those notifications.

I'm still not getting light flow to work. When I put my phone to sleep I am getting a green light that stays on. The only thing I am using light flow for is to turn off my notification light during "sleep mode" at select times.
Has anyone else had this issue?? How'd ya fix it of you did??

New to the sgs3 guys. light flow worked great on my nexus an not gonna root quite yet. Is there any other ways to control the led for text messages?

I figured out how to get rid of the green light staying on. Even though you grant light flow root access you need to check the box that asks for root access in the app as well.

It's not by choice. Getting the LED to blink with consistency was a major challenge. So the blinking was removed (for now - but Andrew the dev is amazing so he will get it without too much more delay).
However there are a few inherent bits of code in the OS to make the LED blink for certain colors/patterns and those are the limited blinks you can pick.
I was a beta tester so I watched how this progressed.

I thought this app was all good for me, but it's still not working. I can't get the sleep mode to work. I set it up to turn off all notifications at night but they're still coming on.
I cannot get this to work no matter what I try!!!
Is blue the only color we can get to pulse, or will more come over time?
What Can You Do?
I've never used Light Flow before but have been considering purchasing the app. Can anyone tell me what setup they use Light Flow (ie which color for which)?
I guess I'm asking for someone to pitch me the product! I'm interested in it but hesitant on what LED notifications I would use besides the defaults.
Thanks!

Image Burn on Screen

Hi.
I have an image burn onto the screen. How do I get rid of it? Will it go away eventually? How do I prevent it from happening again?
Device is Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 p3113
Lcd should not burn in.... does it look like clouds? I once froze an lcd screen by leaving it in sub zero temps....it was permanent damage but looked like a soft cloud behind the image.
Sent from my KFTT using xda app-developers app
I have seen LCDs whit image burn effect even dough I tought only plasma screens are affected whit image retention, if its badly burned I dont think youll be able to get rid of it all. On plasmas you could use specal moving images for washing burn in, you could google that and try.
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
It's burned in. The address bar with the url is visible. I see it when I change the pages and on the lock screen. It's light but visible still. I need to get rid of it because it's an embarrassing url for people to see.
So you can see this when the device is off?? If somehow you have a stuck pixel problem sometimes s a forceful push will bring them back to life. Not that I recommend that... googling lcd burn in This is a phenomenon I am not familiar with and still amazed is possible.
Edit: google says it happens some sort of dead pixel phenomenon
Apple suggests an all white screen for hours on end with backlight low..
Another person suggested a very graphic intensive screensaver over night.

No, you can't see it when the device is off. You can see it only when the device is on. I think it's starting to fade a little. I could see it still but not as strong as it was before. Hopefully it'll be gone soon.
Update: The burned image is gone.

HI all,
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I thought this is an appropriate thread for the problem I am seeing. I am attaching a picture of my screen.
Do you think this is a hardware problem / screen burn? or is it something that can be solved by reinstalling the firmware?
Your help is much appreciated
Thanks

What are you looking forward to..

On the 6.0 update?
For me...
1. Faster fingerprint reader/unlock animation
2. New keyboard layout
3. Finally having an option to switch to pin code for alternative option if fingerprint isnt working
4. Adjustments on touchwiz
5. Google now on tap
6. New emojis
7.Faster phone ?? (hopefully)
Is speed an issue? My Note5 is smooth and quick. *shrug* Now on Tap is actually pretty cool. I don't use a protective lock screen so I don't know about that. I'd like to be able to activate Samsung Pay with a swipe up from the S-View window, but that won't happen.

Speed is definitely not an issue lol, but there are somethings that need a speed improvement.. such as the fingerprint reader. I just hope i dont see any lag. Im assuming you use Find my mobile? if you dont use a protective lock screen. And i dont use samsung pay or NFC payment for that matter, but i understand your struggle haha.
I could root my device, but i choose not to. Reason being is it will possibly lose value once Knox has been tripped.

I do use Find my Mobile but I also use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rickclephas.fingersecurity to lock certain apps. It only locks those apps when I am not connected to my WiFi or my cars Bluetooth. Maybe with the new fingerprint API I'll lock the whole phone up.
I also noticed when watching marshmallow beta for s6/s6 edge is that the capacitive buttons dont light up when touching the screen... which is a smart move from samsung. It saves battery and it makes sense. It only lights up when pressing them or when pressing the home button.

Actually it makes no sense, whatsoever. The entire point of the capacitive buttons lighting up when you touch the screen is so you can see them in the dark in order to press them.. lighting up when you touch them makes zero sense, why would I need them to do THAT?

They didn't light up because it was a Beta and the rooted kernel broke it even more on some devices, but made them work better on other devices. There's also mods you can use to just turn them off if you don't like them. Xposed. Or just go into the settings!!!
Also, just because you don't like them being on, doesn't mean that they are pointless. Tests have also been done to see just how much battery life is affected by Capacitive buttons and you can't even tell how much they use.
By the way, a lot of people like myself, work in dark places and have to use our phones. Think about that for a minute.:good:
The only thing I'm looking forward to is a phone that doesn't get an update and have it cause the phone to be worse than before. Right now my stock Note 5 works just fine.

Pre-Purchase question on display - Huawei Watch 2 Sport

Hi guys, i'm coming from the Moto 360 Sport, and interested in getting the Huawei Watch 2 Sport, simple because Moto crippled it after the AW 2.0 upgrade, ridiculously slow to use now.
With the Moto 360 Sport, it did have a display feature called "AnyLight ", that displays in 'any light' and i loved that.
Motorola accomplishes it by combining a traditional backlit LCD in "transmissive" display with reflective backing. Or something like that.
Anyway, I really like this feature, see screens attached.
I was wondering what the Huawei Watch 2 Sport/Classic screens look like in dim/ambient mode. Does it have this idea?
Anyone care to share some photo of this, as I've read/watched so many reviews, but cannot see what this looks like.
Thanks a lot.
Darren.
Hw2 is amoled so in ambient modes is uses much much less battery because of the black pixels being off, but this feature that you're talking about is not available in hw2, however the watch display is very sharp and shiny even in direct sun light.
also be aware that amoled screens get damaged (burn-in issue) if a pixel is on a particular color for a long time, meaning that for example on ambient mode there are numbers around the screen that are always on, this may cause those numbers to burn in the screen so even when you are in a completely different screen, you will still see those numbers! (for more info google Burn-in)
Just adding to what was already said regarding burn in. Most watch face makers that support ambient move include a feature which shifts the pixels around ever so slightly to prevent burn in. A very simple yet elegant solution to the problem.

So I just found something interesting. Under developer options > Wear Developer options there is a "force anti burn" setting. Set this up now to give it a try.

hi seems like relevant topic for my question.
are there many disadvantages to get the wifi only (non 4G) of this huawei watch 2? (i get the obvious i cant put sim card and get direct internet connection of course). for example:
will the NFC still works on the non 4G model?
how about the xda community ie root twrp and custom rom? less or more than global version?
any other important things i need to know when deciding to get wifi only or 4G?
thank you.
