I have been having battery drain issues on wifi, the device doesnt sleep much. I noticed this issue about a month ago. I ran WireShark on my PC but its wired so its not the whole picture, but this did show up a tone, like every few seconds:
202 17.135208000 192.168.1.74 224.0.0.251 MDNS 82 Standard query 0x0000 PTR _googlecast._tcp.local, "QM" question
I am thinking this is related to screen casting, is anyone else seeing this issue? I cant see a way to disable screen casting either.
Thanks for any help
I have narrowed this issue down to either Plex, Teamviewer or Ace Stream on my PC, oddly. I quit those and the issue seems to have gone away.
Will test more to confirm and then narrow it down.
It was Team Viewer. Huh...this seems like a big deal as lot of people use it.

After a little over two months my Treo (unbranded, UK purchased) suddenly seems to have been struck down with a number of issues that others have reported. I've obviously been lucky until now!
Unresponsive Touchscreen
Firstly, I've become affected by the "unresponsive screen" problem. It seemed intermittent at first, and I thought it was just slow performace, but now it seems much the same as has been reported by others.
After a soft reset the screen seems to repond to the first touch, but then after that it fails to repond correctly. I say that it doesn't repond correctly because it does actually seem to repond to touch, but it just doesn;t register the selection. So a touch on the screen will cause the keyboard to light up, but the input doesn't seem to be passed to whatever application is open.
I've tried the "Remove the battery and put it in the fridge" trick, and this does seem to work, but only momentarily (as reported by many others). What I can't figure out is whether there has ever been any resolution to this. The thread on the Palm suport forum has posts from a few people who have had replacement models shipped, but since this goes back to April I was kind of hoping that it might have been fixed by now!
Intermittent Sync/Sync Failure
The other problem I've now got is a problem syncing. I have two different sync cables and two different laptops, and the problem occurs with any combination of laptop and cable. Basically, it's very difficult to get the Treo to be recognised correctly and then sync consistently.
When I plug the Treo into the laptop it makes some sort of connection because it vibrates (when on silent) and the LED lights. One of two things will then happen. Either ActiveSync will recognise the connection and show "Connecting", or I will get some kind of USB connection error from XP.
When I do manage to get AS to start "Connecting" then it sill often fails, as it doesn't appear to startup AS on the Treo itself. Sometimes the sync will start correctly, but then at some point during the 'Synchronising' process it will just fail and AS on the laptop will show 'Device Not Connected'
I suspect this is very much down to the extremely flaky looking connections on the sync cable (why, oh why could you not just use Mini USB Palm?? ). I have seen a number of suggestions about cleaning the connections with alcohol, or with a toothpick. I have tried this, and it seemed to work initially but after a single sync I'm still hacing problems. Has anyone found and 3rd party sync cables to be any better at making a consistently robust connection?
thanks
Mark
I had two opinions for my Treo
first one after two or three weeks using it was
"THIS IS THE WORST PALM and/or HTC product ever"
second, after about two months using it was
"IT IS NOT SO BAD"
after buying additional sync cable now im saying
"IT IS MORE BAD PRODUCT THAN GOOD PRODUCT"
1. Touchscreen driving me crazy.
Do not install today screen option of Speed dialing or Picture dialing programs because at the end of the month, the phone bill will supprise you and your face will be like this >:-( f$^^#$^!
This is a big problem.
All HTC products have different issues with touchscreen and this is the worst one.
Better to produce in the future non-touchscreen devices (smartphone devices)
2. Synchronization drive me crazy
Sometimes i can sync it
Sometimes no f**ing sign of syncing
Sometimes there is (USB device cant be recognized)
Sometimes it stops and the beggining
Always stops after screen turning off !
P.S. I have two different NEW sync cables.
Can you recommend me some other sync program????
3. There also volume issues
I have problems with conversation volume and ringing volume.
On the same level it sometimes loud and sometimes quiet.
I have tried to find a thread but can't find where this goes, possibly get roasted for this.
I have bought a Zealz GK802 USB TV stick
and within 15mins I am having the following problems,
Youtube streaming is terrible ie; buffers alot and you get to view about 10 secs in every 5 mins, It drops the wireless to my mac mini and if i try to reconnect it rejects password, unless i power off the Zealz
When the Zealz is running it also slows down smart phones using wireless, and then recovers if I switch off the Zealz.
When I try to stream via Tvcatchup, it will play audio and not play video.
I have tested the unit for about 15mins and it gets very warm.
any help, will be appreciated, or point to the right direction
Hey everyone just got my shield I'm very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the gamepad. So I've run into an issue when I try to stream certain games that are supposed to be supported. What will happen is I choose a game i.e borderlands 2 and my computer goes to load but it gets stuck on a screen with the shield logo and the mouse will show loading but nothing will happen however when I try to stream through steam everything works just fine thank you guys in advance for helping out

It's hard to understand what you are talking about here. If you can load through steam big picture, and it works more reliably, then just stick to using that. The individually supported games (outside of big picture mode) are a convenience in case you aren't logged in to steam, but ultimately, using Steam Big Picture on this is quick and works VERY well. Of course, there are bugs and kinks, but for BETA software, it's impressive. Occasionally, I find that the GeForce experience application will "lose" the streaming feature, and requires a computer reboot.
Also, I find it best to launch the PC streaming while in a strong wireless network environment (i.e., closer to your router), then move to a distance farther away. Launching and getting the initial sync seems to be very dependent on network strength initially...once launched, the setup seems to handle streaming glitches better.
For example, I generally have a hard time launching from my 3rd story bedroom so I move downstairs, launch, then head back up stairs and it works great. I have no idea why I can stream reliably upstairs, but often have trouble getting streaming to launch initially!
Thanks for taking time to help you seem to be picking up what I'm putting down I tried again the other day and it worked OK, the entire streaming seems a little inconsistent at times. Just out of curiosity would it be significantly more stable if the geforce PC was connected through a hard wire?
P.S I just got VPN working can't wait to try it out

Way more reliable to use an ethernet cable yes. I personally believe a person should always attempt to go ethernet first and only use WiFi for devices which are by their nature portable or if there is no way to practically route a cable there. My desktop is shamefully on wifi as I would have to run the cable through the dining room, hall, up some stairs, across a hallway and across my room. Going through walls is not so much an option in a house thought to be 150 to 200 years old, however I do have thin walls so get a great WiFi signal at least.
WiFi has significantly higher latency than a hardwired ethernet cable.
Only advantage of wifi really is the lack of a cable. Makes things quite straightforward.
every time i try to stream it kicks me off the game shortly after it starts. i have the newest update and i have the newest drivers and steam beta, i even tried the optimus fix just in case. but games just won't stay connected. my pc is hardwired(1gbps). i'm thinking its my router which is saddening because it works nearly flawless for everything else in my house(the router). its N300 and gbps wired but its not 5ghz..
Hope no one minds me posting this here, there isn't an E4 section yet and I figured this would be the best option.
I have spoke with sony about this over email, but they just sent me a very generic response about how throw works, leading me to believe they didn't read my email at all.
I am wanting to use the throw option to throw music to my WDTV. I have turned off automatic selection, as the first thing it goes to for that is screen mirroring, which while it works fine is a bit of a battery drain just for music where I don't really need the screen, since you can't turn the screen off during screen mirroring. So I want to manually select DLNA, which both my phone and the WDTV have.
Interestingly when I turn off the automatic selection it still only picks up my WDTV box for screen mirroring and not DLNA. However, once I have music playing via screen mirroring if I open the family guy game and play for about 5 minutes the music in the background will go off, then when I close the game the screen mirroring has turned off, but everything is still being broadcasted to my WDTV and I am able to turn the music back on and the screen off and have everything continue to be broadcasted. I have been doing this several days now and it works every time, so not a coincidence, it seems the family guy game is somehow triggering it to enter DLNA instead of screen mirroring. Its very strange.
I can also connect to WDTV via wifi direct, which to my understanding is DLNA, in the wifi advanced settings, and I can connect to WDTV via DLNA in the media server settings, so the devices are recognising each other via DLNA, but not when I am trying to throw something.
Any clues? For now I can keep using the family guy workaround LOL, but its not ideal.
Thanks in advance
Edit: Forgot to mention, I am unrooted, running 4.4.4
Also sometimes screen mirroring and throw will turn on when I don't want it to, can't figure out how to turn it off though
Now often when I am near the wdtv it pops up in my status bar every couple of minutes that its connected. Starting to annoy me
Received an update the other day, but this issue is the same if anyone has any ideas
I still am stuck on this and would appreciate any help with getting my stuff to connect via DLNA without the annoying workaround, and in getting the throw function to turn off properly when I am done.
I use
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...cut&pcampaignid=APPU_1_taLCVY2bI4GMwgTzlYyQBg
Thanks, but it looks like that is simply a shortcut to open screen mirroring, I already have toggles for both throw and screen mirroring in my pull down drawer so that's not my problem.
My problem is that although I can use dlna/WiFi direct to make a media server, to connect in general to transfer things, and to throw stuff in sonys official apps by using the button actually in the app, if I use throw to stream third party apps like Google play music it will only connect via screen mirroring, unless I use the family guy workaround I mentioned in the first post.
Since it works with that workaround it is clearly a possible thing to do, I'm just trying to figure out how to connect that way straight away.
Seen multi thread with this similar issue. Anyone with solution?
I'm thinking mine is overheated. Prior to this happen it gets really hot from watching hd movies. Wifi starts to get weak.
Now, no wifi and screen is in portrait mode showing sideway on tv.
Tried several rotate apps still doesnt work. People said to root it but its not recognized by pc. Yes yes usb2pc and unknown usb stuff are all checked.
Anyone with a good recommendation with what to try that i havent tried.
