I know of some YouTube mods that have playback while the screen is off, but is there anything that I could add to do that with other apps? Sometimes listen/watch things while multitasking, but being able to turn the screen off and still get sound would be very helpful in some situations.
Anyway to add something that allows this? (On 4.1.2 Beans TW rom in case anyone needs to know).

Same issue
I have had that same problem... i hate the phone screen flipping around all the time but the only time i think its useful and worth the annoying accidental flips is when you are viewing pictures. Unfortunately, no there isn't a way to make it only work in the gallery.
Here's two workarounds:
There are home screen widgets that will let you quickly enable and disable the display rotation feature.
You can download any of the thousands of nice photo viewing apps from the market. Many of them have an option in there settings to make them stay in landscape mode.
the 8-6-AW superaosp ROM have this option ,so any one can do it?
thanks.
Is there a 'Full screen' context in Tasker for when things such as videos (flash videos, etc) are in full screen?
I ask because I have the latest Flash player on JB and the screen times out, so I am trying to create a Tasker profile to keep the screen from timing out when flash is in full screen.
I tried creating a profile that stops timeout when flash is running but that doesn't seem to take effect as the app itself opens flash settings in the browser.
Thanks guys

Did you figure out a solution to this?
Hi folks just wanted to share a program I have found called Ultimate Rotation Control. For some time I've been annoyed with the poor rotation issues of this phone even with the work of the outstanding devs adding rotation to Rosie.apk it still wasn't enough! I wanted 180 rotation and rotation within individual apps and websites viewing videos (4od was a culprit of this) and the thought of decompiling EVERY app to change was a very daunting issue.
Well that was until I found URC in a thread somewhere whilst searching various forums for ideas and help. It gives you the power to control every apps rotation individually and/or use a global setting for rotation even with Lockscreen rotation available.
This is a try before you buy 7 day free trail and the licence costs £1.69 which to me is worth every single penny. Hope you like it and happy rotating

not sure why few have seen this thread but this is great! works flawlessly for me using TrickDroid and as silly as this is, the main reason for using team venom's rom is the auto rotation. and now I get it here!

While this question is not directly related to Nexus 5, but since it is one of the few devices running KitKat, I'm posting it here. Its been more than a month since KitKat has launched, but even today the "immersive mode" (which I feel is SO important!) has not been translated to many apps that I use regularly -- Kindle, Pocket, Feedly etc. Its not like these apps haven't updated in the last month or so (they have). Is there any reason why these companies have not considered putting immersive mode as a priority item?
Stability is always the priority. Ask the developers of each app if they plan to support it. We don't know the answer in that, we cannot read minds

There is an Xposed module on these forums somewhere, that enables immersive mode everywhere. It has a few flaws though, as some apps just don't work right with it, or once the navigation bar pops back up, it cuts off the portion of the screen.
However the ones that did work with it, it worker great. It would be nice for someone to make an app or tweak to force selected apps into immersive mode, while allowing the navigation bar to stay where needed.

I still use expanded desktop + PIE controls. I think it works better than immersive mode. I turn it on when gaming.
I used the "Immerse me" xposed module, but it had some issues. Fore example in the AOSP messaging app, when the keyboard popped up, the last message received appeared inbetween the keyboard and where I was typing the message, but only partly. part was behind where I typed teh message. I found that disorientating. Also in tapatalk, which I use a lot - when the keyboard came up, teh top of tapatalk (the tapatalk toolbar) disappeared and I couldn't scroll. Really tricky to use with Pie as I had to keep backing out of the keyboard to do things within tapatalk when typing messages.

Could you elaborate on this? A quick play store search couldn't find expanded desktop, but I found something called pie control.

Hey man thanks for this! This is pretty much what I've been wanting. Now I can use the full resolution of my nexus 5! Great for streaming my PC games. Woohoo!
Would still be nice to have some sort of way to choose what apps go full screen, cuz it would just be easier to already have the nav bar for apps that are better suited for it, then go away on ones you want full screen for, but this is still a lot better than the immersive module for xposed. Thanks again.

Hey no prob, happy to help. It kinda breathes new life into the phone, doesn't it? This mod saved my N5 from being tossed in a drawer. I use it more than my Moto X now, just because of gaming on its 5" screen.
I found this tutorial and decided to make a video of it for you.It would work only with snapdragon 800 devices running Kitkat 4.4+ and rooted. This won't work otherwise at the moment.Make sure you update to the latest play services and Google search apps.

I'm on ls980 works great! Thanks! I've been waiting so long for this feature!
Works fine with T-mobile 801
German language?
Anyone get this working on cloudyfa's G3 port? I've tried installing the updated Google play services (5.0.88) but it won't install. I was able to get it to work on Mahdi's 6/28 ROM with no problem.
Word of warning this broke alarms for me. Just made them silently dismiss themselves.

Why can't I find these options?
I downloaded the apk files and ran UTG but I don't have the option to force close google search. It just shows me app info. What am I doing wrong?
EDIT: I finally got it to force close. had to go to Apps/All/Goggle and force close that way if anyone runs into the same issue.
Seems like this would create a wake lock and cause battery drain

works well for me on Eng Lang.
Has anyone tried this on the ATT version?
I did everything you said but when I get here to say "OK Google 3 times it wont listen to the first one.
With it force activated via language change etc, the camera will not record video, saying 'unable to record video while in call'. Untick the option for every screen listening and the camera is able to record once again.
So seems like it always listening makes the camera think it is permanently in a phone call. Annoying.
Sorry if it's mentioned already.
Make sure to disable LG "On Screen Phone" if you use it That's what stopped it working on my G2 (International)
Works perfectly on vs980 running cloudyfa g3 rom. Thank you!

This actually broke my alarm too. It seems it breaks the alarm while screen off. The alarm will however go off, if the screen is on....wtf? Any ideas?
installed this on my Flex. now when i want to record a video it says cant record cause something else is using my audio.
