3 dot menu for Lollipop - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Would like to have a 4th button on the nav bar and it be a 3 dot menu button. Or have the recent apps button be a menu button and long press to have it be recent apps. Too early yet?

because htc added those new nav buttons to the sense 7 rom. auto rotate? why wouldn't they add menu? i guess it can be redundant, but im sure more ppl would use it than the auto rotate one
someone with more experience with smali will have to code in a menu button.
or get the old settings recent to menu and long press recent back working again.

[Q] How to hide 3 dot menu button ViperXL 3.1

So I just installed ViperXL today and I can't find any way to disable the onscreen bottom menu button for apps that don't have it built in like Facebook.
In CM10 and CleanROM there was a way to have it so I could set up my recent apps key to do multitasking on tap, and menu on long press. By default that would disable the built in 3 dot menu in apps like Gmail but in those roms you can reenable the 3 dots and still use the recent apps key as a menu key.
Is there any way to hide that on screen menu button that shows up at the bottom of the screen in Viper?
Thanks!

Venom Tweaks>Buttons>Soft menu bar
Same screen also has the button remaps for the "Recents" button.

I found those options without a problem.
If I disable the Soft Menu Bar, it fixes the problem with apps like facebook and XDA, however in Gmail and other apps I lose the 3 button overflow from within the app itself.
In my attachment, the part circled in red is lost with the Soft menu bar disabled. When the Soft menu bar is enabled, I get back that button but also get the annoying black bar at bottom with the 3 dots in Facebook/XDA. CM10 and CleanROM both had a way to have the 3 dots from apps as well as disable the black bar while having the recent apps key do both menu and multitask.
I believe it is a build.prop change so there is no way to have it show just the in-app menu button

I hate how we can't have the best of both worlds with ViperXL 3.2.1. Before, we could turn off the menu bar, have the in-app 3-dot menu, and have the long-press menu button for apps that have yet to update their UI.
Now we have to long-press the menu button for every app, and constantly guess if the app we're using has a menu or not. Some people think this is fine. I don't. I thought the whole point behind custom ROMs and Android was the ability to change things to what we want, and not being limited by decisions made by people who think they know everything.
Lol then find a rom that does what you want or make it yourself

Hi, I've got a Samsung Tab S 10.5 and I'd like to disable capacitive buttons ONLY in portrait (due to continously hitting them with hand holding the tablet) on the fly. Is there a way to set for a button a conditional trigger situation?
No

I only have Long press delay on my setting. I don't see any one click or double click. My goal is to set my Back button to long press because I am experiencing phantom back button presses. My android version is 4.2

HOW TO: Remove Google Search Bar

Hello!
For those who can not remove the Search Bar from the Home Screen, I found a way to do it.
This is for CyanogenMod 11, KitKat 4.4.3 Build 14/06/2014:
On the Home Screen, you press and hold the screen, untill the "wallpapers/widgets/themes" options come out.
When that happens, press the three dots that look like an arrow, it will open another menu with lots of options to change.
There, the first option you can change is the Search Bar, turn it off. Press the three dots again to minimize the menu, hit back and that's it.
Hope this helped.
This is actually pretty helpful. As I never knew there was extra features like these on the new Trebuchet launcher.
Nice find!

Yes, I found it by mistake, and didn't know how to get to that place again... But once I did, I wanted to share this with everyone.
Now we don't need to change the Trebuchet launcher to get rid of that. Even though it's bugged... When getting the "trebuchet has stopped" error (when adding a widget on the home screen), I just reboot the phone, and it's working again. Although even this sucks...
But at least I'm happy I found how to get rid of that annoying search bar.

Pretty useful - Thx
This thread could be made a sticky, it would save a lot of time for everyone.

I hate Google search bar......
Thanks
I'm having the same issue. I just installed Cyanogenmod on my phone and when I was customizing the home screen, I saw exactly what the OP shows in his screenshots. However, after installing Google Apps, that screen has changed. It only shows the Wallpapers, Widgets and Settings buttons, and no button to expand settings. Pressing the menu button doesn't do anything either. In both cases I was using the default Android theme.
Cyanogenmod version 12.1. Android version 5.1.1

Same question; Moto g4 stock. Do I really need to install a launcher or ROM to get rid of a single UI feature?

Titanium Backup menu access

This may be a silly question. But... How do I access the settings menu or batch actions while navigation gestures are enabled?

Yes I have found work around like using navigation buttons and long pressing recents button. But was just curious as to why there isn't an actual button on the app like three dots overflow or something. Thought maybe there was a settings in OOS I was missing. I still would like to hear from others to see if they have same issue as in mu screenshot.

I also have 8.31 (but Pro version). I use navigation gestures and have NO menu button....
I have the same issue as well. I think it's a bug. I've had this issue before too and it went away automatically. The menu button just appeared all of a sudden
I'm on Pro 8.3.1 (N5X and GZosp Pie with Oneplus-like gestures). No menu, neither in 8.2.2.
Solution: tab Overview >problems >settings.
Sorry, it's mentioned in #5 yet.

You might have to flash system images again though if you read further down you need to reinstall Pixel launcher. Here is the pixel launcher from October update.
Q has the three button method available. Just go to settings, system, gestures, system navigation and opt for 3 button method.

You're a lifesaver! I was going batty trying to get used to the two button thing...trying to open the apps drawer, and kept getting recent apps instead. Just could NOT get used to the two button thing, and was about to make a post about it, but couldn't think of how to put it into words, lol.
Just flipped that setting to 3 button method, and now it works like it should (for me)! Thanks much!
