Hi
Yesterday my phone just stopped displaying anything. Touch is working (i can switch off wakeup alarm), rest of it also (sounds, reminders etc)
i do not dropped it - just it was lying on table. i checked inside - everything is connected as it was, (these two keyboard screen cables also) so really hell no idea what happened
1. It is worth to repair ? or better buy a new One ?
2. Maybe somebody know someone in Poland, or close who can really repair it ?
Any info or tip will be Appreciated
Regards
W.

Almost guarantee it is the ribbon cable
Sent from my PHOTON Q using XDA Free mobile app
So, how did you solve that issue after all? Did you order some parts, buy a new one or even move onto another device?
Check if is display really dead under lamp - maybe is broken backlight ic.
it is for
50% backlight ic problem
30% flex cable problem
20% both flex+ic problem
I have the same problem with two phones. Replaced the screen and everything except the motherboard, it didnt help.

Old Problem ( solved ) :
Hello,
I had told my problem in this thread but got no response so had to create a new thread to see if someone helps.
My problem ( I mean my fuze's ) is :
Firstly my fuze was having few scratches and the digitizer was broken lil in the edge/corner so I thought to replace its digitizer.
Brought new digitizer ( 2 months back ), disassembled the device and while removing the flex cable, broked its buttons strip ( volume and ptt button ) and while removing/separating lcd from digitizer, I destroyed both!
So next I brought new lcd and flex cable. Stupid seller sent touch pro flex cable instead of fuze. Had it return it and the fuze flex cable is on way now.
In the meanwhile, I tried to install new lcd+digitizer and damaged flex cable but I'm getting only backlight and no display/image. Sometimes I get thin RGB/rainbow vertical lines and once or twice I got the display/image too. As the adhesive conductive tapes/fabric/stickers got weaker I brought new copper conductive tape ( Like this ) and sticked them but still I'm not getting display/image and only backlight.
I'm very fedup and stressed about this although spent 100$ and Due to this, I able to cook roms and I'm out of xda dev since 2 - 3 months :'(
If someone could help, you will be greatly appreciated. Please please help!
I don't have money to buy new device either and have no mobile phones to play with since from fuze is dead.
Thanks a lot in advance....
Best Regards
I replaced the lcd in my phone and had the same problem. I later discovered that I didn't have the ribbon connector in all the way. I hope this helps.
you need a working flex cable...the same thing happened with but on a nokia n95...the blacklight was comin but no display changing the flex helped

BTW; I had also tried the new touch pro flex cable and had same issue.

Hi
I had the same problem last night (wasted 3 hours). Just replaced my LCD as well, broke digitizer was a problem. Anyway, after taking a phone a part 3 time figure out what the problem was.. The two ribbon cables have to touch (mostly likely a ground).. The LCD one and log flex one.. I will try to find you a picture..
Now I have a different problem, can't align the screen properly. The right side on screen is way off.. What a mess..

I tried everything but didn't got it working. Though I have doubt on original flex cable that I broken while removing.
I have trouble with getting new flex cable on ebay. First the seller sent wrong flex cable ( TP's which it doesn't fit for fuze ), 2nd time the flex cable lost in shipment and 3rd the seller didn't had stock to resend so refunded.
Now I have brought the flex cable from different seller and its about 14 days and not yet received.
When I tried touch pro flex cable I didn't get the display but only backlight but once or twice I saw the display so I think it was something wrong in my connect. However I didn't had much time to test the device using touch pro flex cable because I had to return it!
This is what I'm playing with my device since 4+ months. Mostly waiting waiting waiting......
Thanks...

The ribbon aka conductive tape/sticker I have is no longer usable. Its adhesive gum is too weak and no longer sticks. I have searched lot to find such conductive tape/sticker and found copper conductive tape/sticker. Using it now.
@sadik007 and all
I got the flex cable today and after testing, I' getting same problem. No display but only backlight. I see some minor rainbow lines which haven't saw before but as said, I checked the grounding and everything seems correct.
Fed up of this and desired to sell it as parts or repairable...
Best Regards
Finally my fuze is back alive.
Got Correct Flex cable and new LCD. Now its working perfectly.
However, a minor problem if anyone can help.
The brightness setting of LCD in settings -> System -> Power -> Backlight seems to work only till 40% and then after it doesn't increase the brightness of the lcd.
In auto mode, its same. I think the brightness is working only upto 40% and then it doesn't increase.
Cannot understand whats but I guess its because the seller gave me diamond lcd instead of touch pro/fuze. As I can see, diamond lcd doesn't have variable resistor and my friend say its a brightness setting.
But the hardware setting should be atleast full and we could decrease through software.
Can body help me how to solve this problem? I guess its not possible.
P.s the brightness from 0% to 40% is not bad to use but may have trouble in sunlight.
Thanks a lot for all your helps...
Best Regards
p.s My problem is something like this but the backlight is working fine.
Edit;
I don't think my FUZE stops giving troubles. New problem started since last night and today.
As the backlight was lil dim on sun light, I went to try Lumos app. Didn't saw any difference, just sucked at 40%
Today when I booted my fuze morning, it started to do some malfunction in LED lights ( LCD backlight and front penal keypad backlight light ). Backlight of keypad is no longer working when pressed its button but buttons work fine. And also if I slide out the hw keyboard, the home button backlight turns ON. and also the d pad circular light and back button backlight.
Cannot under stand what the hell is going on. If I get any SMS or EMail, d pad circular light rounds fine but if I connect USB to charge, d pad circular light doesn't work.
I removed the Lumos app, softrebooted, hardrebooted, and reflashed but still same problem.
Any idea?
I guess I'm stupid or the device is fooling me.
Thanks again...

Same problem.
Backlight setting changes only 1-4 interval and does not brighten 5 and more.
I had heard that problem one sells his tp which's lcd replaced.
Options:
1) while replacing, flex can be damaged. I do change screens for 6 years and hard to beleive it.
2) keypad membrance can be damaged while replacemnt of lcd. More harder than option 1.
3) eBay sellers sells fake lcd screen.
I handle over 5 diamond and tp screen far away and still keep some cracked ones. They all different from each other. Somehow there must be different versions of these lcd's.
By the way I also tried a diaond lcd and it gives same error.
first 4 step is ok but no more 5 to 10 steps working.
Problem was solved:
HTC P3700 LCD and P4600-T7272-touch Pro LCD screens are different.
here is the differences illustrated on photos:
@sokomind
nice find. Yeah I do see the changes from touch pro lcd and diamond lcd. touch pro lcd has 10 led levels and diamond has only 5.
Part No :
Diamond LCD with 5 LED brightness levels : 60H00130-00M
Touch Pro LCD with 10 LED brightness levels : 60H00129-00M
29 is what we need for Touch Pro but in ebay sellers don't know the difference of these lcds. They ship what ever stock they have. I had requested to send Touch Pro LCD and also said the part no but they sent the diamond LCD.
Damaged 3 times in shipping and when I got the working one, it was diamond lcd.
Anyways, now I'm using the device has a 3g data card and 3g router. Working g8.
Thanks...
Best Regards
I still have the problem as #"10 cracing.
I got a diamond lcd and then ordered a touch pro lcd.
Yes TP LCD is brighter but it is still working 4/10 on brightness. And then I see that my flex cable has lost one of the way. I try to fix it but it still give me 4/10. I do not know if it fixs a new flex. I do not want to spend $20 more.
Have you spare TP flex not fuze?
Hey,
I accidently dropped my phone in water a couple of days ago. The backlight doesnt work. Under a really bright light i can see the lock screen and it still functions. Is it possible to replace just the backlight? or what should i do? I dont believe this would be covered from motorola and I live in canada got the phone shipped from the states.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
James
I'm guessing you might need a new screen/display. Perhaps do a search and find a repair place you can ship it and get an estimate? I know HTC offers such repairs dirctly (ship the phone, they call you with an estimate). I'd bet Moto does as well if you're not comfortable with 3rd party repair.

I have the same problem right now except mine was not dropped in water. In a bright light I can see the lockscreen and also could see the emergency dialer tonight but the keyboard was not reacting on certain buttons either. One screen said to unlock enter your gmail account info,I tried to enter my name and the period symbol(.) was not working for me. I'm thinking maybe the LCD screen needs replaced or the ribbon cable,IDK. Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Edit: Essentially I finally got logged into the phone and the keys were working fine, the screen was still dim so I turned the brightness all the way up and turned off automatic backlight. I replaced the LCD screen and digitizer and now the phone is not starting for me. I'm about to replace the Flex Ribbon Cable inside the phone and see if this corrects the problem. Right now i cant get the phone to start up so I'm thinking the ribbon cable is disconnected somewhere because it hooks to the motherboard and the LCD or the motherboard is fried. IDK,I'll let everybody know what happens with this project.

Replaced the flex ribbon cable and it still didnt help anything. Guess its just the phone. I trashed the phone a while ago anyways and am currently running a rooted Droid 4

Hi everybody
Two weeks ago I received a new year "gift" from my son, as he accidentally poured some milk on the screen of the phone, in the lower part. I didn't noticed at the moment, so the liquid had plenty of time to deeply penetrate through the sides of the LCD. After few minutes (~10) I saw it, clean it and unlocked the phone, everything seemed ok. But after another few minutes the phone suddenly rebooted and after that the touch panel stopped responding. I was able to receive emails and SMSs, but when I tried to call my self I got an error that "phone process needed to close" and the device froze.
Here are all the symptoms that I noticed:
- touch panel not working
- proximity sensor was noticeable, it was like a poorly lit red led
- battery is not charging (when I plug it, the notification led turns green after a minute or so)
- sometimes the phone reboots
- booting in recovery (CWM) from bootloader takes 10 minutes
- booting normally takes also very long
- sometimes I can't turn it on at all, but I supose the battery is really drained.
- with the phone off, when I plug it, the notification led blinks orange and after some time it turns solid orange (like it's charging, but the battery doesn't heat)
- in Sytem Info from bootloader it says "TOUCH PANEL-fail"... d'oh
I sent the phone to the romanian HTC authorized service and I told them the first 3 problems from above. They estimated a repaired cost of around 300 euros in order to replace:
- motherboard
- battery
- SIM module (!?)
- LCD (!?) + touch panel
I refused the repair and when I received back the phone I noticed that the back screws are untouched, as well as the "void" label. Do you think they can make an estimation without open it?
Also, do you think all those parts need to be replaced? I intend to procure the parts and to repair the phone by myself using youtube videos and XDA various topics on the subject.
Sorry for the long post and thank you in advance for your patience and help.
I suggest to buy an new phone because 300,- euro to repair is way to much..... with that money you can almost buy an Xperia s
You need to be more carefull with these smartphones
And i think it's gonna be very difficult to find the parts so you can replace it.... because it's like a notebook you can't replace cpu for example...
My conclusion is that you would be better off buying a brand new phone. Get some good cases and lcd covers for the phone and be careful. with it next time
Srry for my bad grammar english
And i hope i gave you some advice!
I already ordered a brand new Desire X, but I want to try and repair the Desire S too. The spareparts are available on local "ebay" but I don't want to buy more than I need. I think I'll start with the digitizer.

Nice but....
- motherboard
- battery
- SIM module (!?)
- LCD (!?) + touch panel
is 80% of the desire s and its very difficult to find and buy the spareparts and replace them ! I Hope you find them !
And i think it's better to buy a brand new desire s because it might be less expensive...
i heard that they are around 230,- Euro's (Source: http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_desire_s-3776.php )
Just saying
Well, that's the estimation of a company with not so good reputation and I hope not all those parts must be replaced. I'll try for fun to change the digitizer and see if it's working.
LE: Just got the Desire X... will be busy for a while
Ya, I agree that the company is not very good at repairing stuff.. Im quite sure the phone just needs a bit of TLC and things should be better. Have you disassembled the phone completely and tried cleaning? As you say the phone still works in a fashion so its possible that after a good cleanup, there is a chance it might work. AFAIK milk should not be corrosive. It will just leave a dried up layer of fat which needs to be cleaned up. Good Luck!
Not yet, I don't have proper tools and free time

Hello XDA,
My Nexus 5 running CM12 5.0.2 nightly will not respond to the touches anymore infact when I press the power button to activate the display it acts as if someone is touching it randomly messing all the apps that are running and opening and closing many other things.
Furthermore it displays weird and burned lines throughout the screen. It was not dropped, no water went inside the device or anything. If it helps I did install the OTA updates that CM gives us.
I have also attached pictures so you may get a better understanding of my problem.
Thanks in advance.

Hmm I see. Well since a month HAS passed, its definetly not the rom thats causing the problem, i don't know if anything regarding the software could even be causing the problem. Its 100% hardware and by that i mean the screen, you should change it, the touch and also the display are messed up.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news - but your screen is toast. Fortunately you can replace the touch and display components all at once.
http://www.amazon.com/Skiliwah-Digitizer-Assembly-Google-nexus5/dp/B00HN0U168
Here is what you need to perform the repairs - and here are the procedures for disassembly.
https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Disassembling+Nexus+5+Display+Teardown+-+liquid+damage/32410
Trust me, it's not that difficult. Unfortunately, it's a bit pricey ($60 for the screen and digitizer), nevertheless much cheaper than a new device or sending your device in for repairs.

Problem Solved
The screen isn't toast, neither is the digitizer. I have 2 of these phones. The parts which cause problems like this are the main board and the ribbon with the USB connector on it, which also attaches the screen & digitizer to the main board. One was showing lines exactly like this, & also no touch. I put a replacement main board in. Works great now. The other, wouldn't even turn on. I put the main board from the first phone in the second one, it still wouldn't turn on. I replaced the ribbon cable, it turns on and perfectly replicates the issue from the first phone. So now, I have one fully functioning LG Nexus 5, and another which turns on with the same problem as yours. This is good, I started out with 2 of them that were useless to me. So, it appears that your display and touch issues are caused solely by a bad main board. A replacement main board costs somewhere around $75. After swapping stuff around, I have 2 bad main boards, 1 bad USB ribbon & 1 working phone of 2. Not bad, not bad at all.
Hey guys,
last night I decided to replace the back cover of my Xperia Z3. I've ordered an original one and got to work. First problem is that it won't stick - the adhesive sucks. Shall I heat it up with a hair dryer or something? I don't want to damage anything inside the phone itself. And here we go to the second problem - after installing the new back cover the vibrations stopped working. I've performed a full wipe, reinstalled another ROM (wiped System, Data, Dalvik and so on) but it still won't work. Since it's a hardware problem, which part shall I check and then replace? The buzzer itself or maybe some connections?
Thanks in advance

Z3 shares same flex cable for the power, volume buttons, lcd and vibration so u need to check the flex cable.
I recently replaced mine due to stupid service center people refused to entertain my warranty.
If you not so sure, u can take help from professionals.
And you can get the adhesive online somewhere if you damaged the supplied adhesive with the back panel.
Also be very careful while putting that adeshive first put on the panel and stick the panel to phone back.
Gud luck..

I switched between flex cables and the problems persists. I've been sitting and trying to fix this with various ROMs, cables, buzzers and other things for 8 hours now. I'm gonna reassemble the phone as carefully as possible, flash stock ROM and send it to Sony again. Maybe this time I'll get lucky and they won't see that it's been opened... I don't feel like spending 300$ on fixing it on my own.

Unfortunately, along with the vibrations, also my screen stopped working. I gave it to the warranty service, where they told me it's my fault, cause the damage is mechanical (how? I have no clue, cause there was not a single scratch on the phone) and they proposed a repair that would cost 110% of the phone's market value. I simply sold it for parts on eBay and bought an SGS6 Edge. No more Sony for me - their support sucks ape balls.
