Incomplete update. - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I just downloaded and installed the full update for my Shield Tablet ROW LTE and it seems incomplete. I did a full wipe (via TWRP) before installing and the install seemed to go OK, but when I reboot i get a screen like in the pic attached (sorry for poor quality). No nav bar at bottom, no notification bar, no wall paper, no lockscreen. Any ideas what could be the problem? I've reinstalled a few times but no luck.
Thanks for any help.

Are you sure you loaded the correct file?
Have you tried a factory reset?
Otherwise, try to clear cache in TWRP recovery and reinstall the rom?

Dude the SAME thing happened to me just today! Flashing old backups, and the OTA files, the problem persists.
Edit: Actually, I switched to CWM, and it worked just fine... I can only imagine it has something to do with /boot, which as far as I know you can't wipe in TWRP.

Which version of TWRP are you guys using? The one based on v.2.8.2.0 or v.2.8.5.0?
If v.2.8.5.0, try the v.2.8.2.0 instead as some have reported problems with v.2.8.5.0.

Nope I had the issue with 2.8.2.0, the 2.8.5.0 build doesn't even work for me haha.
I guess I'm sticking with CWM for now >.>

I'll try CWM using latest TWRP and continues to fail. I am definitely using the correct update zip.

Did factory reset, definitely correct update zip, reinstalled at least ten times, wiping cache etc. Nothing works. Will flash cwm later and try with that

OK, to update I tried CWM and both versions of TWRP to no avail. I had to download the full LTE RoW Recovery OS Image and flash it via fastboot and now all is well. Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

EOS Jellybean nightly install

I don't have enough posts here to be allowed to post this in the development forum, so I figured this might be a place to ask about my issue.
I have a MZ602 (4G) and was coming from rooted ICS 4.0.4. I used TWRP and wiped cache, dalvik and system. I flashed the latest nightly (120) and GAPPs (O8120802-eos-signed.zip). When I rebooted, all looked okay except, I could not unlock. Camera works, Google works (it loads. I am obviously not online ). I double checked the MD5s and they were correct. Same problem when I flashed with the 119 nightly.
Any ideas?
Wipe data.

Tried that with no change. Also tried earlier nightly and Gapps, also no change.
From recovery, wipe all, format system , flash ROM again...

Thanks,:good: I have tried that, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate your help. This stuff will definitely make us nuts.
Wipe everything via fastboot then try to reinstall.

My entire experience with fastboot was unlocking the bootloader on my Xoom. So I don't speak much fastboot. What are the commands I would need to do a wipe using fastboot and would it hamper my ability to restore my nandroids?
Thanks
I have the same problem and have tried the same things you have with no success.

Out of curiosity which recovery did you use to flash? I was using TWRP.
Another poster in the Developer Forum, happysteve11c , has this result too. So, perhaps we all did something similar. I was wearing my lucky shirt and waited until mercury was in retrograde before trying to flash, so it should have worked.

TF101 reboots automatically and returns to CWM, can only start with coldboot!

Strange situation, after some time my TF101 reboots itself and it returns to Clockwordmod recovery.
I installed an app that I read here somewhere to lock that it doesn't reset itself but it still does...
This evening i'll try to flash another rom, would this solve it?
Anyone knows the link to CWM touch recovery zipfile ?
Thanks!

Install twrp 2.2.x... either you can download or push it using easy flash through nvflash... in any case install a recovery, wipe everything (factory rest) including internal memory, data, dalvik.. do a complete reinstallation of you preferred ROM... good luck

Thanks, I found twrp 2.3, is it better than CWMR Touch maybe?

No Recovery Seems to work for me

ive tried twrp and cwm, and both seem to have extremely bad problems on my phone. i haven't seen others have problem with their phones but mine has gone full retard. with twrp, wiping takes a super really long time and most of the time it does not wipe anything even though its says completed. it cant flash any rom either. it just immediately says failed. so i tried cwm thinking it was a twrp thing, but ive ran into the same issues. i flashed a rom thinking it had wiped (it said it had wiped) but id didnt, it just dirty flashed the rom over stock. can someone suggest what can be going wrong? :crying::crying:
Have you tried using the newest twrp?

i have a mac and no access to a pc, so installing it has been manually through adb commands has been a real headache for me. i first installed it through a tool someone made in the forums for mac but i don't think they have updated it ever since the first release. then i tried using goo manager but it appears the servers are still down.ccc

In TWRP you can check -rom option in Settings menu to wipe the partitions instead of formatting them. The process will take less time.
To flash a rom try to boot into the bootloader then select Recovery mode and flash.
If you are rooted you can install TWRP via Flashify app or even with Terminal commands.

Cant mount /data, seems corrupted

Okay, I've looked everywhere but I haven't found any solutions. I was running PA and everything was fine. Flashed purity, booted, and phone was FC. Went back to twrp (latest version) to restore backup. It requested a password. I have never set one. I hit cancel, clicked restore, and my entire sdcard partition is gone. Tried cwm, same thing. Error mounting /data. I'd really appreciate some help here. I'm an experienced ROM flasher. Been doing it a while. Is there anything I can do to fix it, short of flashing factory image?

I just kept trying to format data and it finally worked. Weird. I'm adb side loading PA right now so hopefully that'll work.
Edit: just finished sideloading. It booted, but on the setup screen, I have a reoccurring "unfortunately, phone has stopped" message. Recovery still says unable to mount storage when trying to wipe anything.

Completely unnecessary.
The ROM has a backup script that saves your Google apps as well as the dialer if you flashed that. That conflicts with a fresh install.
All you need to do is, factory reset, wipe system so that the script has nothing to backup, them flash ROM and gapps. That's it.

[Q] Trying to instal CM 11 on my Infuse

Hi,
I had CM 10.1 by scott, now I'm trying to install CM 11, can I do it directly from CM 10.1?
I tried to do that, and instalation aborted by error 7, now my phone is not starting anymore, it only goes to recovery mode..
Help please!
01:12am
I noticed I was then on CWM 6.0.5.0 suddenly..
I wiped data, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, mounted system anda data. Tried to install again and it worked!
It's not working as I expected. Battery life is like half the time it was before on CM 10.1. Anyone having the same issue?

CarbonROM supposedly is...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137800
Tried it out for a short while. Except for a FC on the setup wizard (first wipe), looks pretty solid.

Thanks! Just flashed it!
Seems Ok, testing now..

A new CM11 ROM is also out.
Good practice is to do a full factory reset, wipe dalvik, format system, format sdcard0 (some even advocate formatting it twice). Then load your zip, then gapps. Then wipe cache and dalvik (again).
I usually load BaNkS minimal gapps. Very thin, and I let the playstore take care of the rest.
