Hi,
I had CM 10.1 by scott, now I'm trying to install CM 11, can I do it directly from CM 10.1?
I tried to do that, and instalation aborted by error 7, now my phone is not starting anymore, it only goes to recovery mode..
Help please!
01:12am
I noticed I was then on CWM 6.0.5.0 suddenly..
I wiped data, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, mounted system anda data. Tried to install again and it worked!
It's not working as I expected. Battery life is like half the time it was before on CM 10.1. Anyone having the same issue?

CarbonROM supposedly is...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137800
Tried it out for a short while. Except for a FC on the setup wizard (first wipe), looks pretty solid.

Thanks! Just flashed it!
Seems Ok, testing now..

A new CM11 ROM is also out.
Good practice is to do a full factory reset, wipe dalvik, format system, format sdcard0 (some even advocate formatting it twice). Then load your zip, then gapps. Then wipe cache and dalvik (again).
I usually load BaNkS minimal gapps. Very thin, and I let the playstore take care of the rest.

Ive recently ran into a problem where every time I installed a rom my Wi-Fi doesn't work. No matter what do( wipe davlik, wipe cache, wipe device) nothing seems to work. Plus if I reboot in CWM it boots right back into cwm. I'm currently on v5.8.3.4

My brother just got himself a skyrocket he's on the newest radio w/custom recovery installed but can't seem to flash anything but cm 10.1 with an old 4.2 GApps package.
Kinda frustrating because I haven't seen anyone else having this issue in any other thread. I did to his all I did to mine and I'm running Wantowan2's DU. Just says installation failed and we can't even flash other recovery from within recovery. Where should we go from here

Odin back to stock and start over. Something got messed up in your recovery
Make sure you've got the proper recovery for 4.3 as well.

Well we did Odin back to stock and Odin flashed twrp 2.6.3 and tried to flash the new cwm touch 6043 and it just failed. Not sure why. I repeated process with my phone and it worked but I feel like he did some stuff he's not telling me.
And the only things that do flash remain to be the cm 10.1.3 and GApps from 2012

The gapps isn't right for 4.3, cm 10.1. Flash the 8-13-2013 gapps
Edit, you can find it on the OP of this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46685423
My understanding is that cm 10.1.3 is android version 4.2.2 and the gapps he used worked. No force closes or anything but one thing he mentioned is that his first flashing of the ROM did not include a full wipe. He did not format system. And even after a full wipe in twrp 2.6.1; data, cache, android secure, dalvik, and system still nothing. Still shows dead android and failed install

I want start by saying that I did not take the 4.3 OTA from Verizon. I flashed my phone from 4.2.1 to 4.4.1 cm11 and various KitKat Roms. My last being mastamoons version. I wanted to flash back to a 4.3 TW ROM for stability. KitKat has been wonderful the days it decided to be 100% stable. But the myriad of issues plaguing my daily apps, freezing or phone rebooting warranted a flash to TW 4.3. I made a forum post because I was not entirely sure how to flash from 4.4 AOSP back to 4.3 TW and the advice given to me on CleanROM 8.1 thread was to format data, cache, dalvik and flash the zip. I did so and everything was fine. No bootloop (yet, kinda. Will get to that). So my phone rebooted and the first try got me to the start screen. Here is where things go wrong. It asks me for my PIN or Password as if it is encrypted. I've never encrypted my phone so I was perplexed. I thought maybe I triggered KNOX? But CleanRom 8.1 is touchwiz. But it doesn't not include KNOX from what I've read. I've wiped system and tried multiple methods of formatting the phone and I always get back to the same problem .

The bootloop I solved after
I formatted /system. I even restored my previous cm10.2.1 backup which was on 4.3 and I did a manual factory reset from settings. Then I formatted data, cache, dalvik and still nothing.

Try doing a complete wipe. What recovery are you using?
I have wiped system, data and cache. Isn't that a full wipe? I'm running the latest clockwork mod recovery. Thank you for your response.

You need to wipe your internal sdcard. Backup any important files to your external SD or a computer. Then wipe everything. System. Data. Internal SD card. Caches. Format system. Then flash the modem in the op if you haven't already. Should be in the op of the ROM you want to flash. Then flash the ROM. Might take up to 10-15 minutes for initial boot so be patient. You should be all good from there.

Thanks man. Will try tonight.

I literally just factory reset and that's the first thing I see. This started when I used C-ROM. Moved to LiquidSmooth and finally XenonHD. Still getting this mysterious error. Reflashed stock ROM, then flashed XenonHD, and the error comes back. No idea how to fix this.
Ate you doing a clean install? Wiping system, data, cache, and dalvik before flashing the rom

Yes, multiple times. I've been flashing ROM since CM7, but this is something new and frustrating.
try different gapps
Hello,
I have a quick question. For some reason after I installed any lollipop ROM on my g3 on the 1st boot it sais android is upgrading like it would if you wiped the dalvik / art cache. Also for some reason some apps from the previous rom are still installed. My g3 has twrp 2.8.5.1 install. I figured to post this under the general questions and answer section to see if anyone has ever has had this happen. Does any one know why this happens or how to make it not.
Thanks

wipe /system /data /cache /dalvik before flashing your new rom. "Android is upgrading" means dalvik cache is created on first boot.
its perfectly normal to happen like this!!
Its perfectly normal the OS is pre-compiling to make the most out of ART, this would happen allot when you have ART enabled and clear Dalvik Cache.
That makes since. Guess I still have to trying re installing cm 12 with out wiping the cache to dalvik and see what happens

No just do the normal wipe. Don't select the areas to wipe. Just factory reset it and it should clear just the cache.
On start up it will still do the "updating android" thing. Make sure your phones battery life is high and its not plugged in the charger. It will get really hot.
