How do I get back to stock from custom rom?

Hi
How do I get back to stock, from a custom rom?
I did a backup of stock, with TWRP, but can I just restore it or do I need to flash stock firmware with Odin first? (I'm on XtreStoLite right now).
Just don't want to brick it, so unsure if I can just restore, or I need to remove the custom rom before restoring.
Thanks in advance

If you want a clean install of stock I would use Odin.

Question about custom ROM and going back to stock

Hi everybody, I have a SM-G920F with android 7.0 rooted with magisk and TWRP, but with stock ROM.
I'm planning to give NexusOS 9.0 a try and do :
Backup my data and settings with TitaniumBackup
Backup everything in TWRP
Flash ROM,magisk,Gapps according to NexusOS's thread
If I want to go back to Stock, what do I have to do ? As of now, I would think of :
download my latest firmware on https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s6/SM-G920F/
Flash it through Odin by selecting the firmware in "AP"
But do I need to do anything else before/after flashing stock ROM, like wiping something ?

About "Rom firmware required"

So, this might be a total noob question, but I want to install miui port for my sm-g360h,it says that the "ROM firmware required is stock 4.4 KK" , but I've a lineage 14.1 N installed, will that be a problem?
Also one more thing, is there a difference between "port" and "ROM" ?

They are referring to the stock firmware that is still on the device(i.e. modem, bootloader, etc..)
You have LOS 14.1 installed, but that is only the system partition. When you flash a custom ROM, it only flashes the system.img to replace the stock system.img, all of the other parts of your stock firmware are still there "under" the custom ROM.
In your case, the firmware that you have is everything that you had when it was stock, before you flashed a custom ROM. Do you know what stock firmware version you had before you modified the device? If your stock firmware was older than 4.4 then you need to update the firmware to 4.4 then flash TWRP again then your ROM again.
Or, if someone has converted the necessary parts of the 4.4 firmware into a recovery flushable .zip file, you can flash that zip via TWRP then flash your custom ROM.

is it possible to return to stock after trying alternate os?

I've been trying out lineageos, but have been unable to get open_gapps installed, without which my banking apps refuse to work, so I'd like to reload the stock image.
I'd like to know how to restore the stock system, if possible. The official firmware comes as a zip file, but I assume the restore needs to be in the form of an ".img" file. Or perhaps I should be asking how to restore the stock recovery first?
