Unlock your bootloader and update it yourself or flash a custom ROM. Check out my guide thread

Is there anyway to make the phone install via OTA without uunlocking bootlooader?

It should install the OTA without unlocking the bootloader, but if that's failing then unlocking the bootloader is the best option. Why don't you want to? There's no benefit to keeping it locked, and no detriment to unlocking it.

Well...I just bought it yesterday... and I don't know if this is offical device or fake device...because the backside of the device...don't have the cyaanogen mod based logo....and it has some Chinese word behind the phone cover...so I'm not sure that is this a regular one plus one device or a china fake one plus one.

The Chinese OnePlus One isn't a fake, it's just the Chinese model.

so its all the same? root ,bootloader and all those hardware.
the only different thing are those word are write In Chinese?

The Chinese version is missing one LTE band, but that's the only hardware difference.

So..if I flash custom ROM or kernel...will it bootloop ? Cause of different hardware from the other one.
and can yoh tell me the use of bootloader? If unlocked in this device... and is it safe for me to flash custom stuff in this china 's OPO?

They're identical in hardware, apart from the one missing LTE band. They're completely compatible with each other, so you can flash anything as long as it's for the OnePlus One.

Bro...first of all I wan to thank you for the friendly And helpful reply and so the hardware are same...just the LTE bandwidth are different right? so I can flash everything as long as it is compatible with OPO. But after unlock bootloader...can it be update using OTA? I wan to stay to stock as possible

That's right, and yes you'll still receive OTA updates with an unlocked bootloader, even with a custom recovery installed. Here's a few threads you might find useful:

Yes, as long as you're currently on the build that directly precedes the one that you're going to flash. They need to be flashed in order. For example, to go from 33R to 05Q it must be done in this order
33R > 38R > 44S > 05Q
You can't do this:
33R > 05Q

Yea...I know...now I'm on XNPH44S...and I wanted to updste to 05Q
Edit: I dowbloaded the zIP file from the oneplus forum...while I predd apply uodate...it say error with syslink.status 7...why is this happening?

For me, I will do this. Wipe /system and /cache and Dalvik/ART partition, then flash Calkulin's stock rooted ROM. Then you are on the latest ROM.

Semi-bricked OPO, need help restoring

Hi everyone, I have a big problem. Recently I got the phone and decided to root it. I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2788632
I successfully rooted 4.4.2. using TWRP method, no problem but I when I decide it to update to OTA XNPH30O - 4.4.4. after clicking install, it sends me back to TWRP recovery page and I never able to install the update. What I did next was probably what got me in this situation. I went to recovery page, I did both format data and advance wipe but turns out it didn't clean everything on the SD DIR. So now when I restart the system, it just hangs on the OPO page.
Please how do I restore to the original factory ROM so I can re-root it again. Currently I have only access to fastboot and TWRP recovery page. I'm very noob at this and the last thing I want is to messed up the bootloader so I need someone to guide me through it step by step.
Thank You
Check the index thread in my signature. In the stock images section there's a thread that has TWRP flashable versions of the CM11S ROMs, just flash one of those.

Thanks, I recover to the original XNPH22R stock ROM that I was on when I got the phone but after I update through system to
XNPH25R I can't update anymore? - 0 updates available. I like to go to at least XNPH30O so I can be on 4.4.4 before I want to root it. What do you suggest I should do?
You could follow the guide in my signature to get back to 100% stock 33R build but make sure you backup your data first

The OTA updates are bugged.
You might want to consider using a custom ROM.

33R are suppose to be a stock ROM? i thought 22R was hmm.. either way I did fastboot recovery to 22R but now I seem to encounter new issue: can't download anything from google play store due to an "error retrieving info from server". I'm getting frustrated now, I have no idea what to do...
I guess I should root it all over again to gain access to TWRP and SuperSU but what's after that?

Please enlighten me about this, I just wish to be on 4.4.4 rooted that fixes the current battery drain issue. I just want to install a ROM that's the most stable currently and most people would recommend at the moment.

22R was an earlier build based on Android 4.4.2, 33R is the latest CM11S build based on Android 4.4.4. Following my guide will get your phone back to how it would be if brand new out-the-box (but it will wipe all data in the process)
Which is probably overkill. All he needs to do is flash a ROM.

True, but if the OP doesn't really know what they're doing going back to the start might be a good thing. Otherwise, this ZIP flashed in TWRP would do the job...

I did just that using fastboot, I flashed ROM XNPH33R which is supposedly 4.4.4 and I again rooted it afterward with TWRP/SuperSU method. But now I think I need to go through a checklist on why my battery still isn't doing good as many would say. I wouldn't consider it draining but it does go down quite fast when I put it to use. Evening idling for 8 hours the phone still drains about 20% when I woke up.

I did just that on using the XNPH33R fastboot img but now that I think about it, should I use the zip method instead but that's putting the files onto DIR and flash it from TWRP right?

Well I did all that, now I'm on 33R and is rooted, is there anything I can do to help improve the battery life? I';m still experiencing a drain.
OK I might have found something to do with battery drain now since I have root access, sorry I'm too new to rooting at this moment but I learned that I suppose to get rid of bloatware from CM11 to increase battery duration. Now the question is, is there a thread in XDA going over a list of what I should uninstall/freeze?

Getting rid of bloat isn't really going to increase the duration of your battery. Finding which apps are driving your battery the most or causing wakelocks and then dealing with them by using something like Greenify will have a positive effect though.

how to update directly?

How do i update the oneplus one directly from 25R to 38R or 44S? Is this possible? By recovery like TWRP? I'm currently running 25R. When i check for updates....no new updates seem to come.

If you want to use OTA updates you must take them in sequence (25R>30O>33R>38R>44S). You can take somewhat of a shortcut though. Clean flash the full 38R ROM zip from here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95747613655046955
Then you can just apply the 44S update.

What timmaaa said works. Another option is to flash, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-stock-rooted-4-4-4-xnph44s-t2932551
It is OTA safe as indicated in the OP post and will give you XNPH44S as well as root (SuperSU)
One question from me. If he takes the factory image from zephiK, does this mean he wipes his data also?
Or is this only when flashing via adb?
Send from OnePlus One using Tapatalk

What zephik posted isn't a factory image, that's Calkulin's stock rooted 44S ROM. No, user data is not wiped when flashing that.

That is correct. The general idea is,
If you're coming from a ROM other than the ROM you're currently using: Wipe.
If you're coming from the same ROM but upgrading to a new version: No wipe, just flash the new zip. The only exception to this is if the OP says a wipe is required.
Thank you very much for your help.

[Q] Some few noob questions about root+ota :D

Hi there, I just got my phone and rooted it. Actually I am with 38R and I was wondering if I can update my CM via OTA as a rooted user.
Or do I need to flash something to get it updated?
And another thing, will I lose my data if I update flashing?
I rly looked at the FAQ but I didn't find something specific as that.
Thank you
You don't need to do anything special to update, just update as you normally would. You'll lose root though so you'll need to flash SuperSU after the update.
What do you mean by the second question? Please be more specific.

The second question is about some posts that I read about some ppl downloading zip files to update to 44S in fastboot, but if I can just update using OTA its fine.

Yep, take the OTA, then boot into TWRP and flash SuperSU. And yep, you shouldn't need to worry about using the fastboot images.

How to uninstall/downgrade from recent CM update?

Hi Guys,
Yesterday I revived notification that new update is available, so not thinking much I installed it. After update I realized that my phone is not getting service, or getting it only outside, for short time.
My current version of CM is 11.0-XNPH05Q. I rooted my phone today and now I am wondering if I can install this version of CM - cm-11.0-XNPH33R-bacon-signed-fastboot_16GB?
I know this might be silly question but I am complete newbie, please advice.
Thank you!
Just flash one of Calkulin's stock rooted ROMs from the dev section, he has one for each CM11S release.

hey, I want to downgrade to 44s too (as I have bluetooth problems). I'm fully stock and not rooted at all( :cyclops: ), I updated to 05q manually by flashing zip in stock recovery... can I downgrade the same way? flashing 44s zip (I guess it's full and not incremental like 05q) without wiping anything to keep my data?

No you can't, you need to unlock your bootloader and flash the stock images with fastboot to downgrade properly.

Nope. It's pretty much impossible to void the warranty on one of these things. You can unlock the bootloader, you can root it, you can install custom recovery, custom ROMs, custom firmware, custom kernels. Pretty much the only things that void the warranty are bricking it, and physically opening the device up.
