My SD card keeps getting randomly deleted - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just started happening recently... First on my 64gb adata card, which I replaced because I thought it might have been a card error... So then bought a new Samsung 128 gb card and the same thing happened... I'm on Rompit & Tdunham's latest lollipop rom... Has anyone experienced anything similar? Any input is greatly appreciated!!

No idea. One of the guys said he folded up a small piece of paper and placed it above or under the card to give it the slightest extra pressure and it helped keep the cards contacts seated better.

[Q] "SD Card unexpectedly removed" error on Cyanogenmod 7 Sensation

Hello Everyone,
I recently bought a 16gb sdcard for my sensation with CM7 rom. Everything has been working great (cyanogenmod is awesome!) and then i began randomly getting the sd card error message. My phone randomly unmounts the sd card and of course when that happens my phone is pretty much useless because all of my apps are on the sd card. I was so excited about the 16gb chip but now I'm starting to think that I should just go back to the 8gb and call it a day...... any suggestions?
Firstly, it's unlikely to be the ROM. Lots of people use CM7.
If it were me I would first of all pop the back and eject, then reinstall the SDCard, as it may not be seated correctly.
If that didn't resolve the issue, I would inspect the contacts on both the card and in the socket, to make sure there wasn't an obvious bit of dirt or something which might be causing an intermittent contact.
Replacing the 8GB and running with that for a while might be a good test. If it runs fine with the 8GB, then likely the new card is faulty and perhaps you should take it back for a replacement.
Finally, I would always recommend using a good brand of SDCard. If you are investing in a nice phone (or a contract which comes with a nice phone) then you should also pay the few extra bucks for decent quality accessories.

[Q] toasted sd card

Hey guys
My note 10.1 just toasted a 30 days old sandisk mobile ultra 32 gb card... does this is a common occurence? I'm really bummed about this
I wasn't updating, flashing os or nothing. Just went thru pictures stored in the card, deleted a couple of them, left the note on my table, had a glass of coke and a smoke and when I came to continue workng 10 min later the device had a notification saying card was empty or file sys damaged.
Help please? Would be appreciated. I know that sandisk mobile ultra has a very good warranty but I'd like to know if you have experienced this, so 7 can avoid sensitive files on my ext card
Thanks in advace
Happened to me too, was not happy and not sure why it occurred.
After trying the card in several devices (they didn't recognize it) I tried again, later, in my desktop computer. It readed the card! ran an error test, backed up all my data (just in case) plugged it in the note and it readed the card! It may be the card, not the note.:silly:
Sandisk is aware and will honor the warranty on replacing the card. There is a batch of bad chipsets and it looks like the problem is pretty common throughout the recent batch. Wanted to get in on the 64gb deal on Amazon but held off because of this. Any cards made after Dec 2012 should be okay from what I've read.
Happened after flashing CM10.1

This happens to me if I leave the card in during a ROM flash through ODIN. Sucks but its a lesson learned.

Faulty SD card slot and how i spotted it

I was having issues with my phone reporting unexpected SD removal lots. After a little playing i found that a little pressure to the left of the flash would make it happen.
I have since sent my phone back to Vodafone UK for repair. They seemed to have replaced some components that has fixed the issue.
Card. 32GB Samsung Class 10
Before sending your phone for this repair i would recommend testing several cards (a small basic class 4 or something) and formatting them in the phone.
I found "play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sdcardmonitor" very useful for logging the removals. (sorry not allowed urls yet)
Hope this helps someone else spot a faulty slot when everyone blames the card.

My sd card slot would not click when i was trying to put a verbatim 32gb class 10 microsd card and it would not read the card, but when i used a class 4 16gb sandisk it clicked perfectly and it reads the card normally without any issues, i believe this is a matter if cards you have to find the perfect one haha

[Q] Looking for fix for random SD card unmounting (not card-based)

I've been researching this issue and have found a lot of threads about bad/corrupted SD cards randomly unmounting themselves. But the issue my phone seems to have is that the SD card isn't securely seated, and I haven't found much, if any, info on how to fix it.
Basically, my SD card unmounts if I bump my phone the wrong way. More often than not, it happens when I'm putting the battery cover back on. I did some fiddling with it, and once the card is inserted, if I gently pull on the card towards the edge of the phone, it unmounts. If I gently push it back towards the center of the phone, it remounts. I don't think it's an issue with my particular card (SanDisk 32GB Class 4) b/c I've tried two other cards (another SanDisk and an Kingston) and they all do the same thing.
I've tried pushing down on the card slot a bit to try and tighten up the metal sleeve that the card fits into with no luck. I've also tried putting a small piece of tape on top of the card to make it seat more firmly. Neither approach works. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I just got the phone recently and have been very happy with it (MUCH better than my old Droid RAZR). But I take a lot of pictures w/ my phone, so having a sketchy SD card is driving me nuts!

[Q] SD Card Removed Unexpectedly

Hello guys, I have problem with my 16GB and 8GB MicroSD, it just standard class not class 10. I got weird behaviour, maybe many people facing the same issue with me. My sd card removed unexpectedly even my sensation was idle. There's no heat no heavy usage running. Tried reformating several times but again this problem still there. Tried changing rom from ViperS, CM10.2, CM11 no luck. Also I had already returned to the distributors with the new microsd but again, it happens to me. I don't why when I use 4GB my sensation running fine, no problem at all. This is the Sensation limitation? Maybe people have some advice how to solve this problem. Thank you
anyone?
Never heard of it, I've used 8gb, 16gb,32gb, and 64gb on multiple htc sensations, never had a that problem you describe.
But, it sounds like the pin might be lose?? does the card pull out easily when you pull it? i.e. you don't push it in first to get it out but even in this case, the card should be lodged safely inside the enclosure. Maybe it's bad design on the card? like too thin or something and so the electrical contact keeps shorting out
try googling
Sounds like a bad SD card to me. I'm using a 64GB Sandisk card without any problem.
I found this thread mentioning problems with S-ON might cause this.

I thought it was my bad sdcard too. Because now I've tested sandisk 4Gb class 4 running without any problem. Don't know why with Vgen Sdcard(local brand on my country) I keep facing this problem, both 8Gb and 16Gb. Maybe the vgen sdcard can't survive with high temperature on sensation, since sensation sometimes getting hot. Today I've ordered Sandisk ultra 8Gb class 10 and will check if the problem still exist.
