[Q] XT926 will not come on after screen repair. - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Successfully replaced screen.
Connected the 2 cables no problem.
However, screen will not come on after pressing power button.
Can hear the droid sound.
Any ideas on how to solve or where to start?

According to this video clip, (somewhere between 2:50 and 3:02) they explain that one of the two cables may have disconnected after you put the screen on.

Thanks for replying.
I've reinserted the cables several times on both phones to no avail.
What should happen when the charging cable is insterted?
Light come on?
Vibrate?
Anything?

Defective replacement screen perhaps? Not sure at this point.

This was a dumb ? so I got rid of it.

Maybe you broke the connector ribbons... maybe the screen is defective... I don't know...

TF101 Won't turn on - Question

I am hoping someone can help...
I have a TF101 tablet that my kids use and we use to play movies on when we travel.
Yesterday my kid was playing a game on it. When it was dinner time she exited the game and pushed the power button to turn off the screen. Now it will not turn on.
It is not dead (the battery was just charged prior to her playing the game). I tried holding down the power button for 15 seconds. I tried Power + Vol down button, Power + Vol up, but nothing! Just a black screen.
Last year the exact same thing happened to the tablet. I was using it, turned off the screen and then nothing! Just a Black Screen and nothing I did worked. It was still under warranty so I sent it to ASUS. They received it, fixed it and shipped it back out to me 3 days later. When I got it back it I noticed that nothing was wiped from my tablet. All my apps, all my data, everything was still there. So, I figured it was THAT big of a problem that they had to do a Hard Reset or replace my tablet.
That said, since it happened again, I am hoping someone might have a fix for this. It is not under warranty anymore and we are going on a trip in 1 month and I would love to get it working so the kids can watch movies on it.
Won't it turn on when you connect the charger to it either ?
Faulty power button ?
Yea, nothing.... I plug in the power cable and still just a black screen. (I have 2 cables and tried them both)
I know they are prone to pulling the LCD cable out of the board inside if they are dropped or knocked, the cable is wrapped around the battery which shifts when its knocked and pulls it out
If you're happy to open it up, its an easy enough fix to push it back in
Sounds likely that's what's happened
This is a good teardown video, the cable is the silver one iirc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-6dKsGJ4VY
Thanks, I will give it a try.
Well, I took it apart and the cable seems to be ok. I even removed the cable and reinserted it. Still nothing.
I did not check the other end of the cable (the one that goes under the board) as it would require me to remove a lot more stuff to get to it.
I am pretty sure it is the screen though because if I hold the power button down, after 10 secs or so I can hear a *click* sound. So I am assuming it is still working, just something is messed up with the screen.
I might break it down even more and check out the other end of the cable when I have some more time.
I hope it's not you power button, because request changing part of motherboard (79$)

Plugging in the charger would turn the screen on
---- @op - Does the screen backlight come on ?
If not, if you tilt the TF and look carefully at the screen, can you see an image ?
So apparently I was messing with the wrong cable... I found another video that shows what cable to check. I will be checking it later today, wish me luck... I was checking the silver cable running from under the battery.
Here is the video

Yea that's the cable I thought it was too, my mistake!
I've not had this exact problem so assumed as it was wrapped around the battery that was the cable in question
Good luck!
Well, that was it! Once I opened it up again and looked at the right cable I could see it was pulled 1/2 way out. Plugged it back in and it worked!
Thanks for the help!

Great news!
fix to turn on transformer 101 tablet
I had this problem with my asus and windows tablets. Unplug everything from it including base micro sd card and any usb plugs get an alcohol wipe clean all the charger plugs and sockets don't soak just wipe. When done plug charger to mains power and tablet it should turn on. If the on board battery is flat may take a couple of goes to start. Worked a treat for me.
What to do if I can't see any image or any light?

Hi,
I guess I am having the same problem. So, what should I do if I can't see any image or any light on the screen?
And btw when I press the power button, immediately within 1 second I can hear a click sound.
Thanks in advance.

[Q] Dead (Bricked?) Phone?

Apologies if this is not in the right spot or something that has been posted, i've tried searching, but no luck, mostly due to that I don't know exactly what the problem is.
I've rooted this phone a number of times and reset it to default a few times.
The screen was cracked at one point and my daughter and her husband bought a replacement screen and fixed it. It was not rooted at the time.
It was used for a month or two after the screen was replaced, unrooted/default settings etc.
Then, just with normal usage, it just died. no boot, nothing. It is just completely dead. I've tried to pull the battery at let it sit for over months time, and it still sits dead as a doornail.
I am curious if maybe a previous rooting, or "unrooting" caused it, even with it being used for some time at stock settings.
Any ideas as to what could be the problem?
Maybe just a dead phone?
Loved this phone and hate to see it end up in the dumpster,
Any suggestions on what steps I could do that could possibly save this phone?
Anything that could possibly help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a dead device. You can try putting it in the freezer for 15 minutes and then try the vol+/- connect to see if it works.

thanks, i was afraid of that
Sounds like a hardware problem to me. There's a freezer trick you could try or if you're so inclined open it up and look for something that may have come loose. Sometimes the usb connector gets broken off the motherboard so you could just have a dead battery and a bad connector.

[Q] Dead phone?

I purchased a Sensation the other week. When I bought it, it powered on and everything checked out. Turned it off, put it in my glove box in my car, went to work. The next day I took it out, tried turning it on and nothing. Figured the cold might have killed the battery, so I plugged it in. The orange LED came on after a moment, blinked for a bit, then stopped blinking. Figured the battery was shot and got a new one. Same thing. Got an external battery charger in case the charging port was bad. Put a fully charged battery in and got a few vibrations, but no screen. Tried booting into bootloader with no luck. Isn't recognized by my computer or ADB. Took it apart to make sure there weren't any loose flex cables and to check on the internal water markers, which were all still white - so no water damage.
At this point, I'm wondering what the hell happened overnight to kill the phone and if I now have a rather expensive paperweight on my hands. Any help resurrecting this phone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
:good:
Have you tried turn on to the bootloader? Vol down+ power.
Try when charging.

Like i said in my post I have tried every button combination including Volume down + Power button. Thanks for the thought though
When you plug it into the computer does the computer see it ?
If yes, then your screen may need replacing. If No there maybe a problem on your motherboard.

The computer does not recognise it either. What you said about the motherboard must be the problem then. Do you have any idea how the motherboard could have been damaged and whether it was a hardware failure or my fault?
Easy on the MB replacement! They're the most expensive thing on the phone. Try the USB port/daughter board 1st. About $6 on eBay. After that if no joy- have to swap in a power amplifier. Here's a link how to

Not fun but might be necessary. I'll bet it's not your MB.

Razr HD won't work after long time of disuse

Hi, all.
I dragged an old RAZR HD with a cracked screen out of the cupboard this morning, and wondered if I could get it going again. Attempted to power it on, however I doubted anything would be in the battery.
I was right.
I have long lost the original cable and power plug for the device, however I plugged it into a new Motorola turbocharger with a factory Motorola cable and let it sit for a few hours.
When id first plugged it in, the device's LED went green, and I took that as a sign of it working, so I let it so it's thing.
I came back to it after a few hours, unplugged it, and attempted to power on. Still nothing, so I plugged it back in, reasoning that it had been flat for some time and probably need a fair while on the charger.
About 20 minutes ago, I attempted again, this time feeling 5 short vibrations in quick succession, and nothing else.
I plugged it into the charger, and tried again. Nothing.
Tried again: 8 vibrations.
Tried a third time with the volume down button pressed as well. 10 vibrations this time.
Tried one last time with the volume up button, and got another 10 vibrations.
I'm not terribly concerned, as this device hasn't been used in a few years and wont ever be a daily driver again, but I'd like to get it running if possible. I don't understand what these vibrations mean, and can't find any information on then, so if anyone has experienced this or knows what these vibrations are, is love to hear about it.
Thanks

It could just be the battery. If you had a fastboot cable then you could just boot it with that and if it booted then you would know its just the battery. If it didn't boot then you would know you are haveing some problems. I got mine some time back on amazon for 10 bucks. Most of the time its just the battery. Only a few times was it something else.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have heard of fastboot cables before. I believe I read somewhere else on XDA that people make them out of old micro USB data cables. Am I thinking of the right thing?
Edit: I found a post on droidforums that shows this in detail, and how to make one: http://www.droidforums.net/threads/how-why-to-make-your-own-motorola-factory-cable.146492/

Yes or you could by one. Its not really a fastboot cable without the resistor. The resistor is so you don't mess up the devices. e.g. Your android or your computer. Some people just like to take chances. I got mine for 10 dollars on amazon. I think you can get on eBay to.
